The problem is the government didn't know how to make enough money in the country...... That's why they want more other people to do investment or have business in Canada in order to bring more money into the country. The fact is the social welfare is too good that government might not be able to afford that big spending. First, Government needs to know how to make money on their own, not depending rich immigrants. Second, encourage citizens to have baby by providing benefits for them, to boost the birth rate. Third, stop being so nice to refugee, stop importing refugee! The biggest problem of refugee is they don't make money to the country, they rely on social welfare heavily.

It is ridiculous that Canada and US do not even know if a particular individual have existed the country. Esp. when the benefits they are seeking are within the same agency. The US it’s all DHS. People have to file FOIA request to request the agency for information they hold in order to give it back to the exact same agency as evidence. Just beyond any logic.

As a Canadian whose parents immigrated to Canada legally, I’m disgusted that illegals pay nothing and are given these much benefits. Why the hell did my parents pay thousands of dollars yet received no help with housing while illegals are given jobs and hotel rooms as accommodation. Trudeau is out in 2019, what a failure.

It is funny the media doesn't brow bash Trudeau like they do Trump. Trump is doing what he promised and America is benefiting from it. Trudeau has only kept his pot promise and has scandle after scandle and not much is said. Is it a liberal thing or what. Trump is trying to protect America, Trudeau is trying to take Canada down. so what exactly is the problem? there are laws in canada - no you can't just walk in a stay and get benefits. if there is misinformation in the community migrating north, then who is at fault? if anyone from any country, regardless of race, creed, religion, sexual orientation - anything - thinks they can just go to another country with no strings attached they're crazy. I get the feeling this is meant to look like a racist issue - it's not. if you're white as snow, speak english and carry a bible, the rules are the same - you come legally, and go through all the paperwork and checks that are required.

glad this episode was made... so that those who think they can just come to canada like some sort of dreamland safe haven would think twice. Canada is nice, but not dumb... tax payers work hard and pay a ton of taxes for the social programs and assistance... why should people just sneak in and enjoy all the free benefits? For each child under the age of 6 the family gets $6400 & those over the age of 6 to 17 they get $5400. So if you had 8 kids, 4 under the age of 6 equal to $25,600 & 4 over equal $21,600 & it's all tax free. Now add on subsidized housing, free health care, the one time setup housing money & the Government covered their transportation cost to Canada. Total $97,200, most of it tax free. Canadian Immigration Consultant considers this kind of family just above the poverty line. Remember this is just a scenario, but it does show the added benefit of our wonderful child care benefit for families.

A lot of people actually spend a lot of money, get higher education, get English language accreditation and rack up work experience just to get to Canada LEGALLY as an immigrant, where they have to start from the bottom again. People like Jose expect to just breeze by and benefit from Canada's resources with schemes and false claims of asylum seeking. He should be deported. He hasn't even made the effort to speak English and acclimate.

I am emigrating to Canada as a permanent resident and I'd like to weigh in. You have to have $12,200 before you can arrive, you don't get government funded healthcare for 3 months or other benefits. I agree with this policy

Of course intolerance exists in  Canada, however, I believe the current multi-cultural policy is ill conceived, delaying integration of new arrivals into the Canadian social fabric. The same can be said for the Indian Act which legally discriminates between status Indians and the Metis, who by accident of birth, bear the same social weight as  status Indians, but with far fewer social benefits.

I can't see 25k refugees coming to the GTA to work on the railways and build subways or doing construction work.
