I live on Vancouver Island across from Vancouver. I have a beautiful apartment, just under 1000 sq.ft. with a 450 sq.ft. deck across the street from the ocean. I pay $1475 per month all included and I have a large dog. My son lives in Victoria in the top floor of a house in the beautiful Gorge neighbourhood: 1400 sq.ft., 2 bedrooms all utilities included for $1800. My sister has a 3 bedroom townhouse in Victoria, she pays $1500 per month (no utilities included). I only wish nobody wanted to live in Canada. I have seen the population here explode in recent years to the point where many people are having trouble finding housing and our infrastructures are not keeping up to the numbers. And they KEEP COMNG. PLEASE EVERYONE STOP COMING TO CANADA!!! ESPECIALLY STOP COMING TO BC! AND THAT INCLUDES ALL THE OTHER CANADIANS WHO KEEP MOVING TO BC. STAY HOME!! The present immigration system is faulty with lots of loopholes. The system needs to be fixed immediately to make it a fool-proof. Stop taking unwanted refugees and asylum seekers in the first place. Also to ensure that all those who had manipulated and took undue advantage of the faulty immigration system are identified especially those asylum seekers who, after obtaining aslyum PR status, had visited their home countries subsequently should be deported for perjury and falsification of documents.

Funfact : south Indians especially from Kerala avoid these Punjabi settlements. Punjabis are from North. Majority of them follow Silkh religion which can be identified by the head cover. They own huge farm lands back in the fertile Indus river plains of India Pak border and the parents sell it so their young ones can find a job and settle in Western countries. I live in AZ you need a car here. Phoenix public transit is getting way better here,but you still need a car. Cost of living in Phoenix isn't as bad like other US cities. Tap water is terrible in AZ big time. When I used to live in Boston tap water was good. It's crazy way more expensive to fly between Canada cities than going to US mind blowing! We don't have like different neighborhoods here in Phoenix everyone lives together! Boston where I use to live has different types of neighborhoods. This isn't new. International students pay more to attend our universities, and always have. That's why universities prefer international students over Canadian citizens. If those living in poverty and poor countries especially south america, woumd stop having aommany children it woukd lessen the burden. We should definitely think about stopping student admissions, especially since tourist visas are being used to rush into Canada and apply for asylum. I fear, soon Canadian passports on the international airports will be treated like a third world country passport. The influx of older international students, particularly from India, taking jobs that could go to Canadian youth, further fuels the debate.

I am an Indian studying abroad and we had our international study tour to Germany. Before our tour we had a cultural briefing session where they made us aware about the cultural norms especially about Hitler. The Prof. who conducted the briefing sessions specifically told us NOT to mention anything about Hitler. Despite this session, I remember one Indian, when we we had our time off in Germany after lectures, this Indian in the middle of the road went and did the famous Hitler pose. And I was embarrassed to the core. On top of this when I tried to intervene the person was laughing and jokingly said ' See nothing happened to me the Prof. was wrong'. I felt like I should sink or just go and jump in nearby river. This was so embarrassing No wonder people don't like Indians. Additionally, Indians who are following all rules and regulations also gets branded like being obnoxious.

It always seems like British Columbia especially Vancouver Island is left in the dust.

I'm an international student. I believe this dilemma could have been prevented by having an online interview with each temporary resident applicant, especially students and their spouses, before making an entry decision. I'm not criticizing what the immigration department has been doing, but proposing an effective way that only the right people are coming into the country. This could massively reduce the number of immigrants coming in. However, I believe it is unfair that students and their spouses are left hopeless after spending tons of money on Canadian education.

Of late, JT ( Liberal party) has become the whipping boy of Canada for all wrong reasons especially for the intake of a large number of international students and no one seems to be blaming the Conservative party that actually removed  the cap in 2014.  In 2014, in line with the International Education Strategy published by the  Government of Canada, the ruling dispensation decided to raise the number of international students from around 240,000 to over 450,000 by the year 2022. \n\nAccordingly in 2014, the then ruling dispensation (Conservative party) enhanced the number of international students visas to 327 thousand from the previous cap of 240 thousand.  In 2015, the figure went upto 352 thousand, representing almost a 47% increase  by CPC during their last 2 years in office .  As of 2023, there are over 1.5 million students holding study permits in Canada. \n\nIt is a known fact and no Canadian can sweep it under the carpet that the economic impact from the contribution by international students was felt across the entire country. From a mere $ 9 billion in 2014 it went to $12.8 billion in 2015 and it further enhanced to 15.5 billion in 2016. \n\nBy 2022, the Canadian government reported that the annual economic contribution of international students had increased to $22.3 billion, greater than exports of auto parts, lumber or aircraft. \n\nNow it is for the Canadians  to decide  as to who should be blamed  for  if Canadians feel that their country has become like a third world country- the international students who had contributed more than $22.3 billion to the exchequer of the govt  in the last 10 years or both the mainstream political parties namely Liberal Party and Conservative  Party  that failed the Canadians by opening up the flood gate to international students with  their eyes set only on the economic contribution  by international students  without  realising the after effect of huge unchecked  immigration of students. A myopic approach by the successive governments has brought in all sorts of chaos,  unrest, unemployment, shortage of houses, increase in cost of living etc..etc....to the Canadians. I can only sympathise with Canadins who are facing undue hardship and mental agony because of the wrongdoings of successive governments while worrying about the future of my ward who is pursuing  three years study program there.

What about when your bank is on lien from the bank, especially if it's a borrowed money?

Wear layers, especially in spring and fall, when the morning temperature can be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the afternoon temperature. Remove a layer as needed, or put it back on if you are out long enough.

Back in 2011 I came to Canada in search of a better place to live for myself and my family. In 2022 I returned back to Russia because Canada has dramatically changed for worse, especially since 2020. Canada is or was a great country. Super nice people to work with! It is over now. I honestly see nothing in Canada that will help you improve your life because the cost of life is exorbitant. If you dream, Canada is no longer a place where you can bring your dreams to life. Although I am very grateful to Canada and its people for giving me a chance to live and work in once a great country!

I've come across very nice and normal brained Indians. Just doesn't out weight the ones who don't wear deodorant, loud music wherever they go, especially loud in apartments, disregard any rules and think themselves better than everyone. No one I knew hated Indians until recent years will this mass flood. I feel bad for you guys that were here before this and get lumped in with them.

Yes the cost of living has spiked everywhere in Canada, but I think part of the problem is people only wanting to live in the big metropolitan centres. People are made to believe that “Canada” just means Toronto, or Montreal, or Vancouver, but the country is 5500km across and has over 8000 cities. If people get over the romantic idea of living “the big city life”, and just focus on where they can live well, they will be better off. Most Canadian born citizens can’t even afford those places anymore, especially Vancouver. And those large metropolitan cities are actually the least representative of what greater “Canada” is really like anyway.

There's also been a massive influx of Ukrainian refugees into Canada, over 700,000 applications were received from Ukrainians under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) in 2022. And especially been a major influx particularly into Alberta. Employers also receive many benefits for hiring Ukrainians under the CUAET, which has also lead to increased unemployment and reduced wages for entry level jobs. We should not allow refugees and international students, anyone who is deemed temporary to enter and/or remain in the country if we don't have the necessary supports.

You come into the night clubs and start grabbing at girls, then get your asses kicked for grabbing a guys girlfriend.. and then you start crying over injustice.. OR you grab at a girl as a group and then I have to knock you all the F out and drag your brown asses outside.. I see a lota comments saying this is one-sided. I cant speak for anyone else but this has been my experience as well... I've been to the Indian Embassy in Wellington, Nz multiple times to submit my applications passport renewal, police clearance etc and girls at the counter were unnecessarily rude & very unhelpful.. I've never received this sort of treatment from kiwis in Nz especially those sitting at customer service desks. I'd worked in Customer service for 7+ years and its very sad to see Indians (not all; some are good but very rare) are the worst and rudest to deal with. Because of this Indian generally have a very bad reputation in Nz; and by the looks of it, in Canada & Australia too..

After the COVID outbreak, II quit my job and traveled all around the world, including 1yr staying in Toronto. The so called fake agents as claimed by those Indian immigrants is actually fake itself. They are very well awarexabout all scams and stuff they do here yet come to Canada. I got to know several kaurs and singhs are doing fake marriages among themselves for PR especially students. In our class they mentioned that they do another course to get PR. Also they sound very rude and you cannot expect basic courtesy from them.

The problem I have with Indians is that they dont like Canadians, make no effort to learn the language and culture, are very rude, entitled and disrespectful towards anyone that dont look like them. Then why are you here in Canada? This is a very multicultural country, which is something they obviously knew before coming here. They treat us Canadians with such hatred, disdain and indifference, especially in the workplace. Indians are always playing the victim and throwing the race card around or just protesting around every corner, every damn week when something doesn't work in their favor. If you're that damn unhappy here in Canada, you're free to leave anytime. And many Indians in Managerial positions will only hire other Indians, even though a lot of them aren't quality for the job or their English is very poor. Canada has always been very excepting and tolerant towards different ethnicities, but that's because they've always put in the effort of getting to know and learning from us.

What are they protesting for? Canada is not their charity. Especially, if Canada doesn't want them, they should leave.

I am a Chinese who has lived in Canada for 20 years, and now the streets are full of Indians. I feel New Delhi. When Chinese are no longer the largest immigrant group in Canada, the social environment in Canada is getting worse and worse, especially the public security is worrying. The basic jobs of local whites have been robbed by Indians, and there are too many homeless people with abnormal mental health who take drugs.
