A lot of new immigrants are trying to contribute. A lot of recent arrivals are also a blatant detriment to the society.

They're streaming into the US from Canada to NYC by the (literally busloads) because NYC has a free housing policy for illegal immigrants. They are being housed while veterans are left on the streets - literally no room at the inn. Everybody is crying about illegal immigration at the SOUTHERN border, but don't complain about the illegal immigration at the NORTHER border. Didn't Trump build his 'big beautiful wall'? Did we not spend millions of taxpayer dollars on it? I know Mexico didn't pay a penny on it. I also know if illegal immigration is higher under Biden than Trump, his big beautiful wall is a big beautiful FAILURE.

Immigration is one thing asylum seekers is another thing I work in a bank and you should see the money that these people get I have seen where they are living on $7000 a month and they also get the child tax credit of $2500. They are living better than me working full-time.

as a candian immigrant i know so many people from ym country who become fake refugees. almost all refugees from my country are fake. also the worst immigration loophole in canada is the three year work visas theyre giving out

Hi Abhu n Niku,\n\nI always love your fact based information. I wish you did more of surveys or interviews of Indian immigrants in Canada. Ideally different people from different states in India have different experiences in Canada. Plus previous qualifications, some students here do not even get up and go to college or university to attend lectures and we blame Canada for not giving them jobs. Blame Indian movies that show 2 extremely opposite sides of lifestyles of immigrants in Canada. Either as high profile business people as if they own the country or as poor labourers with 2 or more sharing a common room in a basement. Improve the perspective of people by improving the quality of movies based on immigration to western countries. You can find students who got job, car and house in Canada in 5 years and you can also see students who unfortunately couldn’t do so much. We cannot generalize things.

In my experience, there has always been a feeling in Canada against immigrants. This is generally among the working class. \n\nIn the early 1990s I was doing a lot of work in Canada for a US tech company. I am an American, by the way. One time I was working with a Chinese Canadian engineer, who worked for the client company. We went to the loading dock to check on the equipment from my company, which had just arrived. The native Canadian loading dock workers were openly making racist slurs about the Chinese engineer, right in front of him. He was very careful not to respond. I asked him about it later, and he just waved it off. This was in the Toronto area. I was also warned about Chinese who were involved in organized crime in the city. Then, a few days later I saw it in downtown Toronto. Two Chinese men in a Mercedes had stopped on the road and pulled a woman out of the car and started threatening her. It was a tense situation. \n\nOften it is the government types that welcome the immigrants, for various reasons. Canada does indeed have a demographic problem. \n\nThis is not the 19th and early 20th century in Canada or the US or Europe. Today we have extensive social safety nets. This means taxpayer dollars. In the earlier times the immigrants had to fend for themselves. Even then, there would be feelings against the immigrants. At least in the US it was a time of rapid economic and geographic expansion. Not so anymore.

As an immigrant I also see the problems with how govt has initiated and went crazy with its immigration program Everyone is right here. The problems are genuine. They can't tell their head from tail. I hope people stop blaming each other while situation improves hopefully. ❤

If Canadians are unhappy about immigration, that literally means it’s an indisputable scientific fact that there are immense issues with our system. The dark and disgusting side of this that doesn’t get talked about is how many newcomers leave shortly after spending everything they have to boost our GDP before they realize they’ll never get the opportunity or life they were promised here. I don’t think it’s just Canadians that see immense issues with our immigration system.\n\nImmigration also implies diversity. Not just flooding the country with millions of people from one section of the world.\n\nWe are indeed in a catch 22 though, because with the lack of replacement birth rate we’ve had, we can’t simply haunt immigration. But the asinine quota needs to go down. This all boils down to basic math and basic economics. There are no excuses for how badly this has been botched.

the whole problems are launched when lower middle class workers can't put up with the situation in which they're not better than immigrants economically. they have been a target for trump's strategy on election. they also were once a target for fascists' strategy for taking over the powers in 1930s. history tends to repeat itself.

Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

Canada needs better immigration laws. Also better screening for those who are chosen to stay. I’ve Hurd of so many people coming to Canada just to live off of welfare and child support benefits, and many who actually want to stay to work and continue a career are deported.

Im from Germany and what most people dont know/realize is that for instance Putin not only causes masses of immigrants due to his hostile wars but also advocates false advertisements about german immigration laws/benefits and lures these immigrants to Germany via the Belarus route in order to destabilize the west.

the west has always been welcoming immigrants, be it to meet job demands, or asylum for refugees from less well to do countries, or even retirement. It is okay to let some/ quota for immigrants but i felt recently it has gotten so much it is affecting locals, in terms of property prices, cost of living and rental rates, all increasing due to more demand. plus, over tourism is also pushing out locals. the world is so different from 10 years ago. once immigrants settle, they will set root and apply for PR / citizenship because the standard of living is much higher than their original country. and when population increases, it's going to cause even more pain to the locals. meanwhile, the west is shifting to lower cost countries to live and retire, albeit at a slower rate.

Immigration is always a short cut to avoid tackling the right problem. Canada is a country of many opportunities. My observation is that people are not making effort to work harder, too many regulations also limit companies to make great innovation that brings wealth here. Immigrants who come to Canada have an enormous amount of energy to build the country but the system always puts aside and cannot unlock their full potential. Just my observation only.

The countries of European nations are being flooded with foreigners, overrunning these nations. Places like England, Germany, France, Netherlands, etc are ethnic wellsprings. Just like Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, etc, etc. Flooding these wellsprings with other ethnic groups dissolves the ethnic groups (the nations) of those countries. England should be for the English, Japan for the Japanese, Germany for the Germans, etc. If the ruling regime actually cared about respecting different ethnicities/cultures and their existence, if they cared about actual diversity, they'd be opposed to immigration. But instead they are destroying European nations - and places like Japan and South Korea are also in the early stages of this. It's evil. \nAnd as for why Canadians are getting upset is because the ethnic compositions of Canada are changing so fast. So fast. It is becoming like a different country. Why are they doing this to us? It would feel more comfortable if the homelands of European nations were not under this same existential threat, but they are. It's alarming. This is horrific.

Why can't the Europe, USA, Canada and Australia just accept all of Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Latin America and the Middle East? I mean there is enough space to accommodate if you tried to do so. Even if China wanted to immigrate also to these countries I think there is still a lot of space. So just welcome the opportunity and growth that this huge influx of immigrants will provide.

Canada does NOT need just more people. We need people who will assimilate culturally who are highly skilled. We don't want to end up like Sweden or France where entire enclaves of immigrants don't speak the language and refuse to assimilate. We also need affordable housing for the people who are already here.

A big part of the problem is immigration policies that allowed too many unskilled immigrants who had no or little ability to support themselves. Most legal immigrants before had sponsors who were financially responsible for the immigrant for ten years or the immigrant had skills or means to support themselves while also contributing to their new society rather than always taking and worse complaining about it

This is the duty of government they are failed in every sector. Incapable Prime minister and his cabinet. They don’t want to admit their bad decisions and policies. Immigrates and international students are also suffering by lots of problems.

Listen I feel for migrants and refugees, but it’s also not the job of other countries to take them on. Most countries are already struggling to provide for their own people. This is why I understand why leaders like Trump say he wants to send back illegal immigrants. So much resources have to provided to refugees and migrants. It’s important for people to also push back and reform their own countries. If they are seeking refuge due to circumstances beyond any control, then it’s somewhat understandable…however, many factors need to be considered before taking them on. All country’s citizens deserve the priority first. So many countries are struggling and then are expected to provide for illegal immigrants/migrants :( it’s not fair to these countries.

Most people in Canada do like immigrants and try and want to accept newcomers . I am happy to see new faces younger people, people with a different outlook. However this lack of housing is a major problem for poor and lower middle class people - citizens and noncitizens. Unfortunately rents are a racket in most cities, the real estate business is full of unnumbered accounts and money laundering; Canada is full of organized crime from all over the world, we cant control foreign attempts at killing our citizen. So we can tell our government is not efficient and is doing a poor jobHowever I dont think the average immigrant is the problem and I feel they are treated like rubes by our government and taken advantage of and so are Canadians of different ethnic backgrounds who also suffer the same problems of many immigrants. It’s more about the failure in government, and also the very few immigrants that ruin the perception of immigrants for everyone.

It works both ways. A lot of illegals from Latin America are also passing thru the U.S. enroute to Canada. Thousands are seeking refugee status upon arrival into Quebec or Ontario. Toronto is already bursting at the seams with tens of thousands of refugees plus new immigrants arriving every year. Add in a lack of affordable housing and jobs, and you have the makings of a disaster just like NYC.

I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

As an immigrant who grew up here, I am always judged because I say Canada should limit the number of immigrants coming in the country not because I am egoistic or what but because I think that Canada is selling a dream to people who sell their houses and everything to come to a place where the system has lost its structure. ? Man I love reading the comments in this video! We also face a similar challenge in other countries that housing is a crisis and governments keep bringing in all sorts of immigrants, from refugees to highly skilled people (like myself). I have switched 5 cities and the story either gets more worse or less worse. Half a year searching for a decent apartment? Some search for years! It's a full time job. The government gets back to my request after many months! Foreigners offices are packed with applications and citizenship is taking years long now. Getting a doctor appointment (psychological issues) within a year is hard, unless you pay from pocket or are in grave danger. We are being squeezed in here and they started new loose immigration policies to be more attractive to foreigners. Address the quality of life at the same time!

Apart from excess immigrants arriving, Canada must not lose its culture and heritage. We MUST NOT give up our traditions just because we have more immigrants. Diversity has become our adversity. People coming to stay here must also be patriotic!!!\nOn the security front, times have changed…. We need to be very careful as to who enters Canada, or even stop it for a few years!!!

It's rising in Europe, Asia, also in Argentina, Chile, etc (I have no problem with legal immigration, asimilation to the countries values, etc etc but ilegal massive immigration has bad results on convivency)

As a child of minority immigrants, I do believe that the balance has been overstretched. Also, people coming to any country should want to fully integrate as much as possible. I don't see that going well presently either.

When I came to Canada as student 10 years ago I \n- never planned to work part time when I was in school. I only made the move when I had enough money to live and thrive without off campus jump\n- I am SHOCKED when people say they aren’t prepared. Where is google buddy. \n- I was planned enough to not take up any low skilled jobs. I’m an immigrant and my sister came in with student visa. To get here, she had to prove that we had the money to sustain her housing and food needs while also being able to pay for her tuition. So tell me why students were able to come here and be homeless. What went wrong there?

The Canadian government subsidizes the wages of workers from India through a work-study arrangement. Most of the unskilled work in my small town (fast food and restaurants in particular) is taken by these students from India, while the teens and adults who have lived in the town their entire lives cannot get jobs because of it. My tax dollars are helping huge corporations pay wages of foreign workers, and my own child and MANY others were turned down for employment by these same companies. Not sure where these workers are living, because there is also a housing crisis in our area. Our immigration system is failing immigrants and Canadians alike.

This country has plummeted drastically this past decade. The immigration is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't matter from where. This problem won't be solved until the Baby Boomer generation has passed away, but that will also cause issues too. We need to focus on our own before accepting others in. I hope things don't escalate like it is in the UK right now, but people are sick and tired of what's become of Canada.

A lot of the sentiment in citizens complaint you left out is abuse that is common knowledge among common folk of abuses of foreign worker programs, and accepting tons of immigrants that have no marketable skills. Also for this year still aiming for high immigration targets when the jobs data shows the private sector isn't hiring for full time jobs and unemployment is rising, meaning by far we are accepting people when our citizens don't even have any job opportunities themselves if they find themselves unemployed.

I have only been in Canada for seven months now, but I noticed a few things about its economy that led to this mess. I noticed that Canada has no globalized companies, meaning the government only makes a little money from doing business with other nations. Businesses here are lazier than their neighbor, the USA, or even in my country, Vietnam, which could be due to a lack of competitors. Cad also has the biggest forest reserve and largest oil deposit but is the lowest exporter. So I wonder how on Earth it stays in the top 10 wealthiest countries with such lazy activities. Up to this point, foreigners are the biggest income of Canada; this country is truly built on immigrants. To keep the country running, it must attract more foreigners. Without int' students, how much do citizens have to pay to keep schools running? If you view it differently, the government also sells the PR through SV Visa because, let's be honest, if millions of investors have invested, there should be something or at least one globalized company, but there are none. From $75k to $200k, foreigners can buy PR for every family member. It is considered affordable for Asian families compared to the USA or Australia. On top of that, another scam is a carbon tax, which means the government needs to learn how to make money rather than invent taxes and sell dreams to foreigners.

This government is completely disconnected with reality. They are causing the problems we have right now. The petty crime rate is growing like crazy where I live. I am an immigrant from Brazil. I am having to deal with issues that I had back there which was unthinkable before this crazy immigration rate. Also the majority of immigration is from one or two countries. How does that improve diversity? We are creating ghettos and all the problems associated to it. We bring so many people from the same culture that it is becoming our culture. Very soon, we will have to adapt. This is crazy and irresponsible. The problem is not immigration, is the way we are doing immigration under JT.

You make zero mention about how developers and investment owners are given useless perimeters about what to build (they’re mostly all building unaffordable luxury condos, even before materials and labour were so high) and zero restrictions on shockingly greedy rental pricing. Airbnbs are also still a problem even with revised rules. The issue is with our City Halls and their ineptitude. It's not about the Canadian's incompetence to compete, it's only about the government's inability to address public issues such as housing, job opportunities, etc. As long as no issues with those things, foreigners and immigrants wouldn't be the spacegoat for the public's problem. Not only in Canada but also in many countries in Europe & US.

What I find very strange is that immigration is an issue ONLY in the western world . In other countries it is not and mainly because if you are a foreigner you will always be a foreigner so things are clear from the start . \nSo as a foreigner you will have to put your kids in private schools , get a private health insurance etc …basically you will have to do what the wealthy locals are doing , difference is that they could use the public services but they don’t . \nAnd so for if you cannot afford to bring your family (also the type of visa you get will tell you if you can ) then you come by yourself , make your money and go back home . So the system automatically regulates itself . Simple .
