Trump acts like we make SOOOOO much here in the US that we can function alone. FALSE! We make damn near NOTHING here. We rely too heavily on other countries in every aspect of our lives; food, clothing/footwear, shelter/building construction material, automotive even down to hygiene products . These countries think he is a fool! Hike up tariffs for them and they will just take it out on us. Tariff is NOT going to control immigration. NO 1 president has ever 100% combated immigration. YES we need a tough stance on immigration & it will result in some casualties, let's be honest. However the way he is talking, he will screw his own people. I can't believe nobody on this team explains this to him.

I dont think there are enogh doctors ir hospitals to cover everyone in the US. I dont think the system could handle it if anyone coild go. They woild need more hospitals and staff to cover all the people that would go if it's free. Sadly many would put off going to save money until its too late. That is the worst aspect if a co pay

Trump suggested he wanted to remove legal migrants as well as people who were in the US when born but their parents arent mirgants. \n\nIt would be unprecedented level of moving people and would likely result in huge amounts of death and rape. \n\nThen while I find a worse argument the economy would collapse. A lot of illegal immigrants do work under horrific conditions, still pay tax, and get paid less than minium wage. \n\nWe saw this in florida.\n\nIf this goes ahead which I think it is reasonable to suggest it will not. When it comes to polls, most of the people that have the time to fill out polls (at least in the US) are the old and the unemployed. And here in the States, the old tend to be conservative. \n\nAnd regarding law enforcement, Trump is definitely UNPOPULAR with the DC police department, among others. I dont think Trump can count on them to hunt down illegals.

I hear you , but I think you should give Pierre and the Conservatives a chance , at least for a couple years . Most of us are praying he can turn things around .

It feels so foolish to keep trying bandaid solutions that harm the US labor pool. There's a couple of things I keep thinking about in regards to this. \n\n1. Most developed countries on earth are in the midst of or are preparing to deal with population crisis and depopulation. Strong immigration to the US stems this issue and is actually a huge advantage to the power and continuing visibility of the USA.\n\n2. Deportation and border control strike at the effect of immigration and leave the cause unharmed. People come to the USA because there's opportunities here, so why not make opportunities abroad?\n\nIf the USA were to remove benefits of dealing with china while offering massive incentives for moving manufacturing away from china directly to Latin America, not only would we be countering our Chinese dependency but we would also provide jobs at home and stem immigration. Not only that, but the businesses would be American and be controlled by Americans - a huge incentive to stay friendly to the USA.\n\nI don't know, just seems like our current policy and especially what Trump is suggesting are counter productive and stuck in a bygone way of thinking.

Any politician/corporation/CEO that supports, ignores or enables the breaking of laws, should be considered to be in breach of those laws as well. Any one that makes use of or allows illegal (as in breaking the law) immigration/immigrants should be removed from the post and jailed. \n\nWhy do liberals progressives think they are above the law or that they only need to follow the laws that they want too? I can only hope Canada, the UK, the US and EU see extreme changes to our immigration and protections put in place for citizens and our cultures in the future.

As an American, its wild to see how we seem to think this is some kind of revolution, while the rest of the world watches us erode our democracy faster than thought possible.

Interestingly enough, the clip where the girl is complaining about having the rent increased by $7000 is not Trudeau's fault (Liberal government) but Doug Ford's, who's Conservative and the premier (like a governor in the US) of Ontario. He removed the limits on rent increases on properties occupied for the first time after Nov 15 2018. So now, if you want make a few more bucks or just kick someone out just jack the rent so they can't afford it and have to leave (usually you can't just end a lease agreement because you want to but not anymore as you can just increase it to whatever you want). Limits exist for a reason unless you're at the top and want to make more without any regard to people that are struggling.\n\nWhat I'm trying to say is that I don't think the Conservatives will do better than the Liberals, they're just different flavours of garbage. We do need real change, unfortunately I don't think it will happen.

I always wonder why people in US even care. Like, okay, you need to enforce law, yet I think that it mostly because people assume it spike up crime, exacerbate housing crisis (which is not really caused by immigraiton), which is presumptions. Guys, immigrants maybe enter illegally, but they not necessary villains.

I think the US and Canada are both great countries struggling with the same things -maybe if we could take the best of the two and put them together.

What about us retirees? It used to be a $1500 a month min. Income to live there. Grew up un Alaska, spent a lot of time in Rupert and Terrace, thinking of moving ther from WA state US.

I stand with her as a Mexican American. My family members also followed the American policies and rules. First permits, visas etc… it’s important think what would other countries do if we flock thousands into their country. The first thing they would do is have us build our own prison. ?

If she is a naturalized US citizen she can still be deported on a whim if Donald Trump directs the AG, DHS, ICE to do so. It happened from the 1930's-1960's when hundreds of thousands of US citizens were deported and don't think it can't happen now given the right set of loyalists all working together..

Since the Canadian government thinks we Canadians born in Canada are all criminals, without a trial in a court of law to determine this, the Canadian government wants to replace us all with brown immigrants mostly from Iran. I guess the crime rate in Iran must be the lowest in the world. That's why most of the immigrants coming into Canada are Iranian. I am currently unemployed and am always the first to get fired while my brown coworkers from Iran remain employed. I really think it's time for affirmative action for Canadians born in Canada. I am getting tired of living with my parents at the age of 55.

What people don't understand is that you can't just start a process in any country unless you have and meet the grounds for starting a process. Each process has its own regulations. Example: For asylum to take place, you have to prove you have a well founded fear of persecution from your home country due to your race, religion, or political opinion. Most of the illegals claiming asylum base on economic hardship, or violence from local gangs, will not win an asylum case. Wanting a better life for your family is not considered valid grounds. The same with legal status: You have to first become a resident which means you have to be petitioned by an immediate family member ( A Parent or sibling with a legal status in the US). Depending who petitioned you, it can be a very lengthy process, up to 26 yrs if your sibling submitted the application! Process is much faster for spouses and kids of US Citizens. Only after several years as a legal resident can you apply for Citizenship. Spouses married to US Citizens is 3 yrs, IF you know english. If you don't you might have to wait till you are 65, when you qualify for the test to be in your native language, but only if you have been a resident more than 20 yrs and so forth. As you can see doing it legally, is a lengthy process, but all these caravans think they can just march in and let the countries accept them without going thru the process and it has caused major problems all the way around. That's why the laws must be enforced to eliminate these invasions!

She obviously doesn’t know that even naturalized Latinos with legal citizenship may be deported. This new administration’s evil doers are said to be going after Latinos who ARE citizens. They want a way to take away their naturalized status, (Stephen Miller is heading this effort.) This would include kids born in this country who’ve never known anything different but the US. I’d think that this could put HER at risk. Her cruelty and lack of empathy is disgusting.

I am a Nigerian I always wanted to either move to the US or Canada because of my career (I want to be an actress) but I looked at the expenses the money I could use to go to Canada just to go into debt after 1 year I could use that Same money to Make my life better here \nI think I just want to visit other countries rather than moving there

I think we should annex Mexico and move the border where we can control it. We should have kept Mexico when we took Mexico City in the 1840’s. Every Mexican can be a US Citizen.

I'm a latino straight from South America and I'm very happy. I REALLY don't get what you american liberals think of us. The only reason we are willing to leave our countries to live in the US is because you have a country where we can thrive. In order to go to the US, we go through the process and apply for visas and the green card. That's being honest. We don't want the country filled with illegal immigrants who jump the border. We left our countries in an honest way and we want the borders strong, so we can still have a country where we can thrive. Is it really hard for you to understand that? We voted for Trump and we're proud of it, so we don't need your false pitty. You guys don't know reality, you're born in fantasy land and you aren't able to see the basic truth even if it's in front of you.

Beeing a ex undocument imigrant from US, i desagree with the former director. You dont need to Chase down ilegals, you just have to shutdown their Bank accounts , requesting agencies to ask for proof of social securty number and and apply huge fines over companies that hire ilegals. Gradually, they wont be able to stay and leave. I am not saying i am in favor of mass deportation. I think there is a better way to fix the system and absorv their work force in to segments that demands their labor, but to deport them its not that complicated.

Unfortunately… when we ONLY think about ourselves, that’s not democracy. It’s about freedom for ALL and how it affects us. A problem with a neighbor, eventually becomes your problem as well.

First this would be very costly. It takes money away from citizens that could use the monetary application like the homeless. Next, working illegals pay into social security that they will never use. How will those funds be replaced? And finally, many illegals are well known to be cheap labor for farmers and AG related businesses. Removing them drives up food costs because US citizens will need higher wages or US citizens will not work those jobs and create food shortages. I would recommend people stop voting for cult of personalities non thinkers who talk loud and constantly but apply little effort to thinking about solving issues.

It won't work. Canada is very well regulated. There isn't that much cash jobs here. And our Loonie isn't that strong, so there wouldn't be much money to send back to their home country. Not to mention the cold and darkness of winter. ?\nThat being said, if they think US is expensive, they will be more disappointed when they see how expensive Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal is. I think the people of the United States should have lawsuit against Biden and Garland . They knew trump broke the law by organizing a coup on Jan 6th . Why did Biden not make garland prosecute trump. Biden and Garland ran a fraud on the American people we were fighting for democracy with our hands tied behind our backs because Biden and garland had control of the whole election if he would have been held accountable for his for the coup trump did on Jan 6th. Anyone reading this that is planning on crossing the border. I'm gonna be frank with ya. Aside from the fact that you probably shouldn't be trying to circumvent our laws just to avoid a situation you don't like in the USA right now... you also shouldn't be trying to cross our border in what is becoming our winter season. \n\nThere are plenty who try, and many do meet a grim fate due to the elements they are just not prepared for. And even if you think you can do it, or prepare enough to do it, you still shouldn't. There isn't much you can do when you have fallen into one of the many sloughs that hide beneath the snow and ice during winter, waiting to make you a popsicle. And if you get out of that, you still have to somehow get warm again. But let's say you avoid that, what then? Well, we have these really cold biting winds that make the -30 temps feel like -40 or worse. But you came prepared, so let's say you can handle that for a bit. Well, you sweat. You will get damp, then wet, over time. Then your fancy clothing doesn't do much for you anymore. Ya dig?\n\nOh but wait, there's more. So we have this wildlife eh', and it likes to do this thing that wild life does... and it eats you. Coyotes are one such kind of wildlife. Bears are another. Both are prolific in certain areas, all the way down to the border in some cases. \n\nGranted, coyotes usually aren't a huge problem for us up here, but that's cause we know how to deal with them usually. Bears are another issue, that even we have problems with at times. You'll probably run into a black bear if you run into one. Grizzlies tend to be further north and to the west. You're gone too far somehow if you find Polar bears. \n\nThere are other critters to mention, but they're more active in the summer, like rattle snakes. (Yes, we have them)\n\nOkay, so you got past the border, and you actually somehow managed to survive the winter temps in your trek to some sort of civilization. Now you have to somehow find a place to live. This is of course assuming you decided to try to bypass all our border security of course. You could go to an embassy and declare asylum I guess. But right now, you're more likely to be given a ticket back to where you came from initially. So that's not something in the game plan for you. What then?\n\nWelcome to being homeless. Oh, and you're still having to deal with our winter temperatures. \n\nSuffice to say, right now is not a good time to be trying to ignore our laws just to do whatever you want. Consider this a fair warning, as this about all the F's I have to give over it all in regards to your safety. I just am dismayed that some of you mouth breathers are going to get your kids harmed because of it all as well.

I think investment should be in a think tank to train Americans to be better and for us to produce superior technology in every area. Tariffs and other stuff to give people an advantage is not going to put us ahead. Competition is good because it forces one to have to get better.

There are about 800,000 police in the ENTIRE Country... If there are 16,000,000 illegals in the country, Each Police person would have to stop whatever they are doing and, on average, capture 20 illegals... Given that each of these captured people are entitled to plead their case before a judge, How many people will actually be deported before Trump exits??? How much will that cost??? and What happens to the USA while all the Police are engaged in doing Trump's wishes??? What they don't tell us about The Wall is that it's been breached more than 3,000 times and the climate in that area is already degrading the metal and concrete... Trump tried this before in his first term and could not get it done... What makes this Senator think it's going to work this time???
