My family moved to brampton in 2000 from India. I was born here. I am in a place in my life right now, where I am racist to my own ethnicity because I feel like they ruined my beautiful flower town. I feel unsafe in my own hometown. Like guys, I know it's called the GTA, but that doesn't stand for grand theft auto ?

When you are the one deciding to go somewhere else, it is imperative that you honor the customs of the host country Period \nNobody solicited you to come \nThe same should be said if Canadians were traveling to India \nIt is not up to the host country to bend over backwards to accommodate your customs or idiosyncrasies \nInvited to change the culture or traditions of that host country \nThe people that are hosting you like where they are and want to keep it that way \nIf you don’t wanna be a part of that and you wanna keep the same, then stay where you are \nIt’s a simple as that \nIf you don’t like the quiet, well, mannered way that Canadians conduct their life and you want to jump around and party with loud music and dancing in the street. Canadians to\nThen you are the problem\nAlso keep in mind there are over 1 billion Indians compared to the much smaller population in Canada\nIt doesn’t take much of a percentage from any to make Canadians feel like they’re being saturated with your populations\nWith that in mind, I’ve noticed that a lot of Indians have no intention of assimilating to their host countries when America had mass migration of Europeans through the beginning of their country it was called a melting pot, and that was because all the Europeans coming from various different countries would give uptheir specific to become Americans this is been lost as a concept especially now that Canada is experiencing this migration in America all these different cultures. Want to keep their traditions and change the culture of their host countries instead of becoming Canadians or Americans\nI strongly disagree with this trend\nAnd believe that if you want to stay, then you should assimilate

I feel like I live in India I don’t see other than them they took over the country

As a Vietnamese student who has spent 2 years in Canada, I don’t mean to insult, but Canada feels like hell comparing to my home country, from housing to food and groceries. When I was a kid in Vietnam, I heard from my friends telling me that Canada felt like heaven, but things didn’t go as expected ?. I’m just 20 years old and I need help ?

You need a fishing license to Fish. Ok fair enough. Now you have to buy fishing ticket separately for all small pond river and lakes. Rivers tickets are sold for every 10-20 km. If you travel to next town, the previous ticket is invalid even though its the same river. Even if i travel somewhere for few days, ticket must be bought. Its not flexible, too stressful. Moreover, places like beer gardens, swimming pool, restaurants etc you won’t feel welcome unless you are white.

See you are a respectful and good citizen who we would have no problem welcoming to Canada. It's the others who are ignorant and who do not respect our countries culture. If you plan to immigrate you must respect our culture and act as nice or nicer than the reputation us Canadians have. The reason we are upset with some Indians is they have no respect. Some of them throw their garbage everywhere on the streets on the beaches on our walkways. I get in India the culture there may allow you to throw garbage in the streets and lakes and rivers. We do not do that here. Either way something has to change the government needs to fix this problem they created. Also why did they allow so many Indians what about Immigrants from other countries? It seems like all they did was mass import people from India. They can hardly even speak English. No disrespect I am just saying from someone who was born in Canada and whose parents grandparents and great grandparents and beyond were all born in Canada how we feel the way our country is being disrespected. It does not make us happy. But let me stress that I know there are kind respectable people from India who come here and are helping Canada. It's the ones who are disrespectful and are not respecting OUR culture.

No offense, but I would like to say this is how we people feel in India. Not entire community is bad as you sad but obviously few of them. But what do we hear, ah xyz community people are like this.. the same thing which canadians say to Indians. But back at home in India, even govt. is against us. So all those Indians who faces racism in Canada, in the same way we use to feel in India.

Every time someone say something about Indians they pull the racist cards. Going through Tim Hortons is like a struggle for them. They can’t multitask. What about our kids that are here. They can’t find work everywhere you go you’re in every store. You don’t see no other culture. You don’t see no other culture taking a dump on the beach, where people are enjoying it. They have made insurance so high because of their driving they U-turn when they feel like they run red lights they drive on sidewalks when they’re not supposed to they have cars coming out of residential parks and they’re driving on the sidewalk. Oh my list is so long and nobody does anything about it, going for a walk with your family and they don’t wanna move out the way they follow they always impact they wanna come into workplace and speak their language and they wanna carry their knives like what? When does other Canadians have other rights over these Indians, they feel that because they’re so much that they can overpower people because of that not me. And when they put men in supervisor or manager rules, they be little woman. This is a woman it’s whirl and everything is equal a man’s job. A woman can do it probably most likely even better.

It is not right to put good and bad apples in one basket, the bad stands out here more than the good.\nI came from an area of very few Indians and been living in an area of high immigration for many years, so I came from a place of no prejudices. I absolutely agree that you are ambassadors when outside the home country, as I think the same in my travels. Overall I believe it is a blatant disregard for Canadian culture and laws, and lack of assimilation with Canadians, especially white, that has caused this to be the big part of this divide. I see, hear it, experienced it. I admit it leaves a bitter taste.\nImmigration only works when both parties can blend together and respect one another. Not separate yourselves, segregating others based on predjudices, and sticking to what you are familiar with back home. You came for a better life, but live the same as the past. It is like a marriage where one has to always take into account your partner's point of view, making compromises along the way for both partners, not exploiting the other's weakness, or disrespecting their views.\nThe government caused this issue to come more to the forefront in recent years by ramping up immigration numbers and putting pressure on the system. Canadians have now had enough. We have lost our culture, and feel like the minority in a country where we paid into the social systems all our lives, only to get little benefits, just more taxes, and see those systems being abused. The process for obtaining Canadian PR or citizenship shouldn’t be as easy as it is today. By tightening these controls, we could have prevented the rise of these exploitative practices and maintained the value and integrity of what it means to be Canadian.

When you welcome Indian immigrants, don't be surprised if your country starts feeling a bit more like India! It’s like inviting a chef to dinner and then wondering why your kitchen smells amazing!

Imagine your Indian city is full of Pakistani people and they took over most of the jobs and you go to public places it’s full people not speaking your language ? And zero respect to your culture how would you feel you will be like ya sent more plz !

I came to germany 5 years ago.\nLearned the language, did an Ausbildung and BELIEVE ME, tried my best to become a part of the society but the society is shut closed COMPLETELY.\nPeople are very unwelcoming and they all stick to their 'own group of people' - not only germans but also immigrants from the middle east.\nThey love catergorizing social status and are deeply condecsending.\nIn addition, it feels like germans don't want people who are eager to climb the ladder and eventually become a higher level employee but they rather want someone who would just stay in the entry level position who would do all the unnecessary repeatitive work that no one wants to do.\nBecause of this tendency, I see a lot of managing level employees who are disgustingly incompetent but are only there just because of what they are (if you know what I mean).\n\nBut again, these are just based on my experience and maybe it's just how it is only in the city I'm living in :).

Canadians don't like people coming here to scam the system. We feel like Indians are unreasonaby flooding this country and behave like they're looting. They're bringing organized crime with them. Why don't you stay in India and work there to improve your country instead of coming to Canada to loot and destroy.

I am West Indian, descendent of India indentured workers. I love my country of birth, Canada where I have lived since 3, and I have much love and pride in my Indian roots. That being said, I have come to feel embarrassed of being taken for East Indian by other Canadian people. I moved to small city outside of Toronto in 2004. I loved it here! People were so welcoming, kind, friendly. I felt no prejudicial treatment from any of my neighbours. \nFast forward, my little city is now overrun with new Indian immigrants. I can’t tell if I am in the heart of Toronto or Brampton or my city of Oshawa. \nThe Indian people I encounter in the grocery store are pushy, have no Canadian manners, speak their language loudly, come to the stores with their entire family which fills up the isles and cause long lines. All the sale items are sold out by the time you get there because Indians are filling their cart with as much as they can purchase of any of the on sale merchandise. This never happened before. \nI am also saddened by being assaulted when an Indian person passes by and wave of body order sickens me. I don’t understand what the cause of that is. Not bathing regularly or not using deodorant. But I notice this everywhere I come in contact with Indians, men and women, young and old. \nI feel like I will be mistaken for East Indian myself which I have been when I went to the hospital. I was treated like I couldn’t speak English lol\nThe worst is the Muslims, they are the rudest the way they fill every available free space, make women feel uncomfortable and are just intrusive and unable to incorporate themselves with other Canadians. They also have a superiority attitude. \nThis is a plan honest list of observations. I hope they learn to integrate with Canadian culture, improve their language skills and learn proper hygiene. In my state Kerala, we feel very offended when we see migrant workers from north, north east and northeast india and even Tamil nadu.. because they don't follow any rules, they are involved in crimes and of late they have started imposing their ways in Kerala.. a few days back I had to call the police after a Bengali migrant worker stared, whistled and eve teased my wife from the near by construction yard. Just like that when we Indians go to foreign countries I'm sure those foreigners also feel the same about us when we try to push our ways into their culture..

Even the rest of minority immigrants we don't feel like we are living in Canada\n We literally feel like we are living in India.

I went to high school in Brampton Ontario, in the mid 80's and there were no Indian immigrants anywhere. After high school, I moved to Montreal to work as a fashion designer, (I have to mention the shock I experienced whenever I would fly into Toronto for business... when I went to get a taxi, there was always a massive line of Indian taxi drivers standing outside next to their taxis. I had the feeling that I was no longer in Canada, but somehow ended up in India?) Having lived in Montreal for 30 years, I recently moved to Guelph Ontario, to be closer to family and I was shocked to see how many Indians had moved there, (going to the dog park, I was informed by the people there, that Brampton was called Bramladesh and Guelph was turning into another Bramladesh.) There was a massive temple built in Guelph a few years ago and suddenly Guelph was invaded by Indian immigrants, with every house put up for sale bought by an Indian family, (the husband, his wife and their kids, the brother and his wife, their mother and father, all living in a 3 bedroom house with 3 cars in a 1 car driveway, (for some strange reason they all choose to dig up the black asphalt driveway and replace it with white concrete??) So yeah, the white people in Guelph are fleeing en mass, as it becomes impossible to sit in the back yard, or open a window, without choking on the powerful stench of spices coming from the Indians living next door... it's like being punched in the face from the horrific smell when you walk your dog and pass by one of their homes! That said, it feels like their goal is 'global domination' and with 2 billion people living in India today, it's just a matter of time before they all decide to leave the most over populated, the most polluted and the most corrupt country on the planet, and move to Canada!

I came in June as a international student to Canada from a south east asian country, I came to Canada hoping to experience social values of a developed nation, but now I feels like I have come to India instead of Canada.. 97% of the classes filled with indians, acting like Indians.. most of them are unable to communicate in english and have no respect to social values. All the international students who comes from other countries have to go through various kinds of discriminations.. In future, I think, the Canadian government should ask for a Panjabi language certificate, instead of the IELTS. Because, english is the least used language in class rooms.

As a Canadian born in Canada I feel the border needs to be shut down. We have worked hard to set our standard of living, this is now in danger of collapsing because the government has allowed so many immigrants into Canada putting a strain on our healthcare,housing and other programs. These people are getting to use our resources without having paid into them for years like we Canadians have. Our way of life and standard of living are at risk of collapsing, we see it happening in our healthcare, affordable housing and the drain on funds for the poor. When we see them protesting about being forced to leave and how they refuse to try and take on our culture, where whole towns are being taken over by their arrogant attitude to take over these cities. We want our country back

Trudeau has taken the Multi out of “Multiculturalism” Canadians and Indians have different values and if we Canadians mention this we are shamed and labeled as racist. I have a few Indian friends and they even say that immigration to Canada from India has gone out of balance. Many Indian people don’t assimilate into western living and many try to find loopholes they can exploit. I don’t like that Sikh men can bring daggers to places like the gym, it makes me feel uncomfortable working out beside someone with a big knife. Indian people wearing a Turban don’t have to wear helmets when riding their motorcycles. If a white Canadian took a big hunting knife into a gym they would be escorted out by the RCMP, and would be ticketed and fined for not wearing a motorcycle helmet. While sitting with one of my Indian friends he mentioned how he would hate to be me, I asked him why, he said as an Indian he can do what he wants and if I say anything I’m shamed and considered a racist. ??

The important point is India can never be clean, disciplined or have hours infrastructure as any wester n country , even if we have number one gdp. The reason is Indian mindset is to not respect the nature and litter everywhere as compared to Canadians who treat nature like their family. The government has built good infrastructure and people follow every law that government has levied. But at the same time, it comes with its own set of problems such as poor healthcare, avg education no career growth and insane expense. So there is no heaven anywhere. You choose to stay where you feel happier.

I did notice the quality of education was much lower in 2024 than in 2018 and 2020 in College. The teachers don't even car. All these students are very nice people, some spent a fortune coming here. There should have been limits decades ago becuase people want go back but they spent so much money that they feel stuck. $10k cad is like 3-5 years worth of income in some of these places.

No , we said enough is enough. About time he listened. Every where I go, I feel like I live in India. There are 14 Indians, 2 blacks and 5 Caucasian including the 2 managers where I work.

These Western countries including USA and Canada are more kind to illegal immigrants who cross their borders illegally from Mexico, central and South America but very harsh on Indian Students. Similar situation happened years ago in Europe and UK. Later these countries had a surge of Middle East refugees as a result of war. Now Europe in its entirety looks almost like another Middle East country with loss of its own identity and culture. My question to Canadian government is why do you want to treat Indian students who invested in your country’s economy as colonists ? Why do you treat Indian students who helped your economy with their money worse than illegal immigrants who cross your borders bringing nothing but their families ? Canadian citizens remember when these Indian students leave out of self-respect… it’s your own loss !!! I would say you will most likely be stuck with uneducated illegal immigrants in your country. Listen I have nothing against Indians. The problem is this. This is our country. You come here and take our youths jobs, take our housing and healthcare. Also I am going to be very honest at fast food places like Tim Hortons and KFC as I have had these experiences they are rude to women. I am 63 years old and have been smirked at by two young Indians at Tim Hortons because I complained they got my order wrong. Another time at KFC my granddaughter who is 9 asked for something and they treated her rudely she started to cry. We don’t want you here. Go home with your education you get from our country and use it. We don’t need your people here without going through the proper immigration process. I find you are ignorant rude and not nice people. It’s very unfortunate when I go into a restaurant or fast food and feel out of place in my country. Time to end it time to leave stay home we have enough problems. But only five, not five hundred.\nWage changes. Meaning drastic reductions in pay for anything that doesn't directly benefit the community or somebody in need for that money. No more bankers, more construction workers and skilled craftsmanship. \nPeople who then can build the housing we needed. \nBecause they now do something valuable and helpful.\nA guaranteed flat for every couple if she is already pregnant. \nPlus tax reductions and preferencial treatment for taxation. \nLowered tax rates for food and drink and supplies. No Offence to anyone but when you applied to come here as a student or tfw you had to prove and swear that you will go back home once your studies or work permit is done , its a part of the cbsa and irrc questioning if your protesting you are breaking the rules and laws of your visa and you are subject to deportation because you lied to immigration and the cbsa , i lived in another country for 3 years during covid i could stay up to 3 years with my visa , my last renewal the officer told me sir this is the last renewal you will have to leave so that is what i did i respected the laws of the host country and went home , i feel sorry the students were lied to by the schools the government and THEIR own People telling them they will get pr give us 20k-30k cdn $ but thats not our problem .... vet the agencies yourself before applying , come here legally and there is no issue , but don't think our country has to give you pr or CITIZONSHIP just because you spent allot of money or worked here pr and CITIZONSHIP is a privilege NOT A RIGHT , when you had the interview with immigration and the cbsa what did you Promise i will leave didn't you ? time to start packing like i did go home and better your country with the knowledge you go from here if you dont break the rules you can always come back Legally god bless and good luck

Too many Indian from India in Canada ,I feel like in India right now.

Canada has been overrun, with people that don’t integrate into existing communities and it’s destroying the fabric of the society. I’m tired of feeling like a stranger in the country I was born in. Turdeau has ruined the country.

It takes a long time to get a feeling of 'settled' here in Germany. There are a lot of positives, and a few negatives too. You will possibly never feel completely integrated, you will always feel like an outsider. But you are 'tolerated'. But my teenage kids are already feeling the pressure: this country has a self-imposed digital apartheid, no encouragement to be entrepreneurial, and failures are laughed at.

To be honest 90% people of Canada would say no more Indians. I hear people complaining all the time. Women saying I don’t feel comfortable around Indian men . Honestly indians work hard and most of them are awesome people. However instead of getting 1.5 million Indians canad should have a cap %. Something like 10%. So let’s say 150 K from India. 100k from china. Bring like 200k from Africa, 200k Latin and central america. 150 K from Europe and so on. Diversify the population

I feel that guy from Ukraine. My wife is from Indonesia. She moved to the USA 3 years ago. She works 7 days a week at three jobs, somehow, happily and makes over $62k a year. I did not know that Canada was that hard off. Come down south brother. Cali is paying $20 an hour. I don't like California for my life but I would rather live there then get paid $3.50 for an uber delivery.

I’ve gotten back to learning German and is considering moving there but I have to make sure I even qualify.\n\nAdded: these comments are making me feel bad but I’m still motivated to at least visit Germany. It's a good move yes totally agreed of what you've said about Canada i'm an immigrant from Cambodia 35 years ago and had settled on Cordova street, Vancouver in 1989 couple blocks away from EAST HASTING. You're right it was not that bad then it was very safe and i used to shop for clothes at Army and Navy and walk around that area a lot. i did not feel unsafe at all of course there was drug addicts a few here and there but not like this magnitude right now, homeless totally invaded China now and it's unrecognizeable as it once was very sad indeed.
