I lived in Turkey for 7 years then brought my wife back to the United States after COVID. Now that I know what I'm missing in this world I'm not very happy in America. No neighbors, no community, no social interactions, no interesting store-fronts. My wife is even more miserable. We have made 0 friends in nearly 2 years in America. According to the healthcare field, my wife has a Bachelor of Science Degree and has more than four years of experience in government hospitals in our country. But when we came here to Canada, we have to get assessment exams and Canadian experience to practice as a healthcare professionals. Most healthcare professionals work as a cashier or drive Uber. Officials sleep in their cabins without doing anything and people are waiting to get their doctor's appointments for months. \nWow, what kind of system is this?

I’m not sure about the rest of the country but in Quebec you can’t just go from School to permanent residency. You need to apply for a work visa first and only then can you apply for permanent resident, acceptances take upwards of a year and that’s if it’s a single person. If you have a family or even a spouse more paperwork so it takes longer, I know a few people some who are single and got accepted and families. I know someone who’s been here for years and has extended his work visa because the permanent residency is taking so long because he has a wife and child. Afterwards you need to remain in Canada for like 3yrs before you can apply for citizenship.

You definitely need more than a little self reflection at how “living in a small town” isn’t the answer since a number of shootings have affected small towns and if your small town is in the wrong state then your wife, mother, sister or daughter won’t have access to healthcare. Ignorance is bliss though since it’s never affected you personally so who cares about the other 300 million people around you!

I have a different perspective… as I’ve lived in Canada since I was 2 years old (same with my wife). I’m in my early 40s and my wife is in her late 30s… the other thing is… we are of Sri Lankan decent… Tamils… BTW, I didn’t understand a thing from this interview… I’m going by what is said in the comment section.\nBut, hear me out… before you say… “Oh no… this guy has nothing in common…”\nJust so you know… I was born in Germany in 1980… my wife was born in Sri Lanka in 1985.\nWhat I noticed is all my uncles, grandparents would rave about the fact that if the war in Sri Lanka was over they would go back and live there… well… truth be told it’s been over for a while… and they go visit… but they built a new life here in Canada… and they’ve come accustomed to the luxury lifestyle here. Now she has been approved to write ENCLEX, an Entry exams. But she has to come to Canada through Visiting visa. Do you think is adviceable for her to come visa visiting visa. Thanks

As an American that immigrated to Canada, I got to skip a lot of steps by having my wife sponsor me. Becoming a Permanent Resident makes it where I can apply for citizenship within 3 years. Canada has a lot more problems than is advertised. Don't believe the hype. Its a solid developed country, but don't expect what you would in America or you'll be vastly disappointed.

Great video! US immigration system is soul crushing and very expensive. As a Korean Canadian (Scientist with a PhD) who immigrated to US in 2012, I was lucky to get my green card in 2020. Since then I sponsored my wife and my daughter but their immigration cases have been in limbo due to the pandemic and we are still waiting for their green cards. You made a great point about why many people wants to immigrate to US from Canada because of pay. It is true that same job in the US pays so much better but you forget to mention a few points that the higher pay in the US is not that much advantageous if you calculate the cost of other life expenses. Sure house is very expansive in Canada but it is expensive in the US too. I live in MA and the average price is so much expensive. Additionionally, important things in life are very expensive in the US compared to Canada such as Child care, children's education, health cares etc... Example: My friends from Quebec only pay 7$/day for daycare (~140$/month). My friends in Massassuchetts pays on average (2800$/month). My friends kids will pay around 2000$/year for university tuition if they go to an university in Quebec. My kid will have to pay around 10000$/year if she decides to go to in state university if not it could be more than 40000$/year. I know that health care system in Canada is not perfect but it is much cheaper. In US, it is so expansive. My daughter birth only costs us in Canada 100$. My friend kid birth in MA with a great health insurance cost more than 5000$. Without health insurance, it could go even higher. Now if you lose your job, you lose your health insurance so good luck if you become sick. Additionally, depending where you go in the US, they have a gun problem. Luckily for me, I live in MA where gun control is very strong. Anyway, this is just to tell you that higher pay isn't always better.

Professionals in Australia are far better than Canada and USA. Weather, people, lifestyle everything. I am in Aus since 2004. Mechanical engineer wife Pharmacist and most of our friend in good jobs and enjoy life. Been to Canada and US....There is no comparison. Yes if you are a failure in life then its a bad experience but then dont blame the country blame your abilities....that you are not good enough to make it happen....

My Canadian son and his girlfriend, both in their early 30's, have visited the USA many times. Each time they go, I worry constantly that something bad will happen to them (shot, injured or sick). My brother and his wife have a condo in Florida and I worried that during COVID they'd catch it and die because of DeSantis' batshit crazy policies, making Florida a cesspool of virus. Now he wants to turn it into Gilead. His wife clearly desires to become Serena from The Handmaid's Tale. Too bad because I used to love Florida. I'm also worried sick that if Trump is elected President again, he'll somehow cause such a catastrophe the like of which has never been seen before, and it will affect Canada too. Basically, as a neighbour of the US, I'm constantly worried all the time.

In the whole story, the 90% struggle seems to be from the wife.. doing bachelor's, masters, raising kids, giving ielts, extra tests etc all was done by the wife and husband was doing nothing other than making poor decisions. We have relatives who were in the same situation as accountants and they showed flexibility and moved to suburb and now have permanent residence. Also after coming to Canada they have not started any proper job rather living on child benefits and exploiting the system.

My wife and I have talked about moving away from Winnipeg. We've floated a lot of ideas, but there were places where we'd have to learn a new language that ranked higher than moving just a short drive south, into the USA. We'd need to have a damn good reason to even consider it.

one of my friends same way came to Canada from Newzealand, and now he went back, the same way another friend from Germany came on PR and went back to India due to he got good opportunity, I was a software project manager in India and my wife was a professor in engineering college having a degree of Ph.D. in computer science but facing trouble to get right job in Newfound land. so we met so many PR newcomers in last 6 months and herd same story like us so moral of the story for others is ,please be aware about expenses , cost of living and hidden costs .

One of my friends wife, who just five years back, came to India from Canada, born and brought up in Canada. She got married to Indian guy a rich guy I must say she’s a New Delhi from past 5 six years right now. She has not even seen Canada and she’s not even willing to go there for a holiday. You may want to remember comments on the internet don't necessarily represent a broad spectrum of the political spectrum. That said my wife who is from the US prefers Canada. Also we have lots of guns in Canada we just don’t tend to use them on each other.

First time that I watched your channel - and I commend your candor and your openness. I lived in Canada in the Niagara peninsula and the Greater Toronto Area from 1953 to 1989. Then in 1990, I had a job opportunity to work for a Michigan base company that allowed me much global business travel. I could have moved to Michigan with my wife and two sons however I decided that my residence would still be in Canada on the Windsor side of the Detroit river. I commute every working day across the border and I am glad that I did in fact remain a resident of Canada. I do have a green card still to this day in 2023 as I continue to work for the same company. I can tell you that the for the first few months in 1990, every time that I would cross the border to go back home, I felt a sense of ease and contentment to be back in Canada. I do like the USA but I prefer living in Canada.
