As a Canadian myself living in this country for over 30 years... the problem here is that Canada have a diversed industry but because the country itself is so small (population wise) that none of these industries reached economies of scale. While Canada has regions rich with natural resources, all they do is extracted it, sell it to U.S. and then buy the producted that was produced by these raw materials back at a higher cost. The political structure of Canada doesn't help either: Each region essencially specialized in a few industries (Alberta Oil, Ontario Finance, the Alantic provice's fisheries and oil refineries) and there's equalization payment... meaning if one province is doing well... they don't get to reinvest it back into its infrastructure but rather have to spread some of the excess revenue to other failing provinces... this doesn't incentized productivity but rather leads to a race to the bottom where provinces would want to spend their way to get some of that equalization payment money. Also the provinces themselves doesn't have a unifying economic agenda... Alberta's oil could be best served to be refined out east and then shipped but British Columbia doesn't want pipelines and oil shipping facilities on their coastline... and Quebec isn't interested in having a pipeline either so there's nowhere by the oil but to go down to the states. Finally the province of Quebec( which is french speaking and have their own culture and language) isn't interested in the overall prosperity of Canada at all but rather to extract as much special privilages, rights, and money from the Federal government... and even to declare independance from the Rest of Canada.

Instead of investing Canadian taxpayers money into making Canada grow and a better place to live the government is too busy stuffing it into their pockets as well as their friends and families! Canadians need to clean out all the corruption in government, courts, military, police, science, education and the list goes on!

Oh well that's when the government doesn't care about their people are just like the United States of America. Storm the border like that you can get some help and get arrested because you're on your own.

We have a leader who seems to be deeply invested in shutting down our oil and gas industry. He shut down oil and gas. Which put hundreds of people out of work. Then he slapped us with a carbon tax. He told us the carbon tax dollars would be invested toward producing green energy projects and manufacturing jobs. So far, the Carbon tax went up again, he banned plastic straws, he’s hitting our farmers with heavy restrictions on fertilizer, because it’s not green enough. \nMany of our indigenous communities have been living for years with contaminated water. He promised he was going to ensure the indigenous communities have access to clean drinking water. He has not fulfilled that promise. \nHe’s bidding $30 billion dollars to hopefully sign a deal to manufacture electric car batteries for Volkswagen. \nHe’s investing in other projects, as well. Unfortunately, he’s only investing in eastern provinces. \nSo far, there has been no investments in western provinces yet. Many of the out of work oil and gas workers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are still waiting on the jobs they were promised. \nLow wages, high inflation, high taxes and high income housing is bringing a lot of us to our knees. \nOur leader is corrupt. It seems like every week there is another corrupt scandal he and his government are involved in. \nI can’t speak for every Canadian, but I can say with absolute certainty that a large number of us are sick and tired of our current leader. Most of us live with the hope that if our leader can get voted out. Canada may have a chance to go back to the way our beautiful country used to be.

Canada as a whole is not that corrupt..... Its government on the other hand had become incredibly corrupt. PM Blackface openly takes bribes and the family connections are the chief path to powerful appointments. Brain Drain is just a work for anyone with half a brain realizing Canada is over-leveraged and overtaxed with little freedom beyond the government funded media stories that try to convince you all is well.

Ok buddy. All this is very well and good but Canada has something that no other country on earth has. We have a budget that balances itself!!!!\n We also have government gatekeepers at every level with their hands out to stifle any entrepreneurship before it can get out of hand and threaten their big corporate buddies.

You know what’s ONLY thing that cannot leave Canada for the USA? Natural resources!! That’s why natural resource companies endure in Canada, because they have no choice.

President Biden might want to put together a task force made up primarily of those from border states and those with large immigrant populations. The task force can be requested to make an up-to-date assessment with our successes and failures, a new list of goals with steps to get there, as well as new ideas to try out on current problems, while suggesting new policies and government procedures. I got the answer, how about the US government take its knee off the neck of the Venezuelans. The US foreign policy toward these countries is a huge part of the problem they have and why they are desperate to come here. Even into 1944 there was a vast amount of demonisation of them seeking asylum, despite the knowledge by this point that there were horrific conditions in camps where extermination was becoming ever more apparent. The Nazi German government in 1936 passed laws that enabled them to revoke citizenship and stripped away laws on human rights. It would be great to say that these poor souls who were being demonised in their own country were accepted into nations who could see what was going on and who wanted to help, but that just wasn't the way it went. The ease of access to people around the world has made issues seem to stretch to far more countries now, whereas back then it was a time of empires. I get that there will be many here who support Trump, many who support Biden, there will be Brit's who support Sunak and the rather vicious words of Suella Braverman, whilst others will be more on the side of Starmer (I'm well aware of all the other parties but they don't stand to gain as much). There will be French people backing Macron, whilst others back Le Pen. We could go through each country all the way to the battle between Fujimori and Castillo in Perú, and the stories are much the same, but how will history judge us when people look back to this time? Will it be another occasion where we demonised those trying to escape the horror of the place they had the bad luck to be born in whilst we were luckier? \n\nI know there is hardship everywhere. I'm struggling more than most and I know I can't keep living this way. However, I don't want to be a part of history people look back at and say ‘if only they did something to help prevent this.’. I would rather be a part of history people look back upon and say; ‘that was a boring time period where nothing important happened’. It's already too late for that. Instead I try to remember that, though I was born into a family who never really wanted me, I was lucky enough to be born into a country that could support me during the hardest times. When you look at immigrants, remember that every one of us has immigrants in our family tree somewhere.

Canadian here, and this video is right on the money for some of the most frustrating things about Canada! \n\nOur proudest achievement is our healthcare system, but up until recently, the government has been choking it little by little. Making it so difficult for any Doctor/Nurse to even consider finding work here (and making it impossible to afford getting a medical degree) because you are literally doing it for the love of the game at this point. \n\nEven if you become a specialist in a specific field (which pays really well compared to most careers here) it is unlikely any hospital will hire you. Our hospitals are only interested in making profits by pushing painkillers on Canadians, rather than hiring medical professionals to help fix them. If you become a family Doctor, it is a bit better, because you can open your own practice. But kiss your social life goodbye if you do! The most annoying part of this problem is some people blame all this on the fact that we have healthcare and assume a private American system would be better. Where the real problem is we need more workers and funding into our healthcare to make it better. Not making lives harder for poorer Canadians!\n\nWeirdly enough our Tax system issue didn't stand out as a problem to me until I left Canada and see how taxes are marked elsewhere! It blew my mind that I didn't have to do math when I visited another country and the way we advertise wages is purposely deceptive! In Ontario, we succeeded in getting a $14 hour minimum wage (only in Ontario and maybe one other province). Which sounded amazing until you realize that's $14 without tax... To compare, I was incredibly lucky in Toronto where I found a place for 750 a month and was earning $16 an hour. Sounded like more than enough for the cost of living, but after taxes I was pretty much putting more than half my monthly income in rent. On top of that I had to pay for student loans and other bills. \n\nBottom line, if you are wanting to move to Canada for our beautifully scenic environments, free healthcare, and a stable job? \n\nMove to Finland.

My wife, a teacher here in North Carolina and I, a hard working legal migrant worker and a tax payer were given a temporary visa to stay and work here in the US for 5 years and we need to exit this july because of the US revise law. I do not understand why the US government doesn’t want to give us visa that will allow us to stay long. In my working place, theres a lot of workers(asylum) from south america mostly from haiti and they keep on coming. The number of black haitian are more that the number of combine black and white american. I would say.. this people are lazy, loud, rude, can’t speak english well yet the US government look’s like they prefer them than us.

There is hardly any upward mobility in blue collar jobs, ever more so in the labor market. If they are not making $40K/year (assuming the majority has not a college degree in something marketable, advanced skills, a tradesman or artisan) then they’re struggling like everyone else in the service industry. Jobs for teenagers, entry level workers, part time jobseekers like for students, people needing extra income cause it’s so expensive in CA, NY, Austin, TX, Chicago or SF living off work entry-level service jobs. Technology has created a shortage or labor gap between unskilled jobs. Jobs that Americans need while pursuing training or technical degrees for the new skilled jobs. \n\nImmigrants do not need to fit the stereotypes of working in the service industry or as farm workers. American citizens can fill these labor positions quite easily. No, immigrants, work visa or not, do not work any harder, smarter, slower or faster than anyone else wanting to work. If someone is motivated to work an unskilled labor job then they will be just as effective as the next person. The HR for these companies definitely virtue signal and satisfy diversity quotas every time they hire someone due to their work status or ethnicity. Everyone and anyone can be replaced and so the question is, who do you, as an employer, want to replace the job vacancy with? Gonna hire cause they are a good fit or because your helping some politicians cause? Gonna grant asylum cause their lives are in danger from a government firing squad or because Biden/Harris will pat you on the back? \n\nThere is reason to illegally enter this country and it is disrespectful, disgraceful, dishonorable, dishonest and disheartening to the ones who are here legally by going through the process like everyone else paying time and money. Even Christopher Columbus paid to be here, no one handed him a free ticket to ‘paradise.’ The Mayflower patrons weren’t met with resistance by the indigenous community, they were harmonious. Canada has been run into the ground by government after government for 40 or 50 years now. Every level of government in Canada serves itself at the expense of the people paying taxes. All government employees have unshakeable job security, unbelievable benefits and pensions, and a total lack of accountability of any kind. Debt has been run up over this period continuously at every government level. In spite of the huge taxes, government continues to borrow ever more money to serve itself.\nI wrote a letter to then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney decades ago asking why the government was continuously running deficits and how did he expect to pay for it all? All I got back in response was a bull$hit form letter. Now with the liberals in government you can see the bloat in government and it's spending increasing even more than under the conservatives.\nThe most frustrating thing about Canada and Canadians is that they keep voting in incompetent and spend thrift governments. It seems that in Canada the dream is to get yourself a cozy government job and just turn into a taker rather than a creator. This idea seems to be very strong in new immigrants as well.\nCanada is done. Stick a fork in it and turn it over.

You cannot come to Canada on a tourist visa to apply for a job. You can learn about the job market, or come if you are invited for an interview by a Canadian employer, but not apply with the intention of not going back home, if you are entering with a tourist visa.\n\nIt is possible for foreign citizen young adults to work in Canada in certain sectors like tourism, but this doesn't put you on the path to citizenship. \n\nThe best way immigrate is is to learn about the job needs (like healthcare) and to get those qualifications in your country, if possible. Many times, you can read about this in the job postings on the internet. You should also avoid colleges that are set up for foreign students to get their student visa, and which don't have any Canadian students (of which there are many). The government is making it harder for these graduates to stay in the country. Moreover, if you are not well educated, you won't make enough money to be able to afford the high cost of living in a large city like Toronto or Vancouver. You would be better to be a licensed electrician or tradesperson and work in more remote areas or central Canada. Canada admits many immigrants very year, and if you are not well qualified, you will be competiting with these workers for work, with lower pay and job security, in sectors like food service and day-care.

Regardless people should be filing for asylum in their own country, and should only come to our border when there turn in line comes up. No easy fix, but letting people in with catch and release as the policy, with a court date more than 10 years down the road, is not a way to do it. Not to mention, there’s a lot of aliens, that did it the right way, and all of these illegal aliens are taking cuts. Our border is in complete and total shambles. CNN please please please have somebody down at the southern border every day, at different points of entry, and report on that. There is operational control at the border, but it’s by the cartels not the US government. I live in a border state, I have watched this my whole life. I have never seen it like it is right now. I was in chile a few months ago. Chile had accepted Venezuelan refugees. What most chilenos said was a lot of the Venezuelans were used to the government paying for everything (utilities, rent etc) so when the Venezuelans arrived at chile they were shocked they had to work. A lot of them did not assimilate well in Chile. Crime was high in Santiago Chile

It is high time Canada should put up electric fences on its borders, easy entry for criminals, terrorists, ...the government can not even feed, house, educate and provide employment to their own Homeless people, why accept Non Canadians. im a canadian living in toronto, and been here most of my 65 years and believe me it has changed not for the better but worse country to raise a family. government care more about the criminals than hard working people. if you try to defend yourself here at your property you will be charged . we have a government run by a dictator and because he has a famous name he gets a free ride on lying and cheating by the mainstream media of a well establish liberal newspaper . people dont feel safe going out downtown toronto once a safe and vibrant city but destroyed by the woke crowd and left leaning politicians.

I moved to Canada in 2012. I used to love Canada as even with $11 per hour job was more than enough to survive (during studies, part time job). I used to live happy life. But, since Liberal government was elected in 2015, things are going crap. Just between 2016 when I signed lease of 1+1 apartment for 1140$, in 2019 it was getting rented for $2400. Prices went up for house and lots of things. Liberals had messed up affordability that most people in Toronto region are living paycheque to paycheque. On top of it Carbon tax in hide of saving environment which literally not working out, is killing Canadians. \n\nAfter living in Canada for 11 years, I don’t see this country has any good future overall. Our banking to technology sector everything is outdated. World is moving so fast, Canada is not able to catch up. I am looking for easy was to get green card of USA, the country which I hated, it seems USA is far better. I have many relatives in USA, I asked around and it broke lots of my stereotypes about USA which I had developed living in Canada and from Canadians. Even met few people who lived in Canada for 10-15 years and moved to USA and living there for last 5-10 years. Worst decision of my life was choosing Canada in 2012 for easy immigration. My classmates who chose USA and moved there in 2012 are in much better position career wise as well salary wise and they files are also in progress. Living lavish life with great weather, while Canada is depressive as hell.

Canada is not worth coming to if you own a home in your current country and are generally happy, have a decent job and family, don't come here because it will not be easy or better than what you have. You will have to start from nothing, working the worst jobs cleaning hotels and toilets or working minimum wage in a retail store, even if you are a professional in your home country. There is nothing better here, nothing is free unless you come as a refugee. This country is the anti-dream of America. The taxes are very hi, the rent is unaffordable, to buy a house you have to make $200,000k a year, so basically you will be screwed. There is no way to save for retirement in Canada, so don't think life will get easier. In Canada you will get stuck working well beyond your retirement years like into your 70's you will work here until you drop dead. My parents are 70 and still work because they are still paying off their mortgage, while they get retirement $1,300 per month which is the standard is a joke since it doesn't cover the basics, you need $6,000 at least to survive for a month, to buy food, gas for your car, carinsurance, phone bill, utilities, anything else, just the basics. What the government gives you is completely unrealistic to the times, considering the amount of money people pay in taxes you don't get enough during your retirement years, the government has no use for you so they dont care about you when you get old.
