Tariffs means that US business will pay an additional cost to import the product which will then be passed on the US consumer through higher prices. So the only ones who will suffer are American consumers.

All this means is that USA consumers pay more for whatever Colombia exports and what consumers will need ( supermarket food produce for example) ?? The US importer pays the tariffs (US customs tax at port of entry) whom then passes it onto the consumer !!\nThe consumer can of course not purchase the product which would hurt Colombia exports; the importers would have to hurriedly find another source whom would probably also increase their price because of demand.\nTrump is a loser and always will be; his businesses are mostly failures; even casinos !!

China slapped bans on just about all Australians goods a few years ago. It was a wake up call for Australia as they realised they had relied too heavily on the Chinese market. So they found new export markets for their products. China, meanwhile experienced power shortages and realised they actually did need Australian coal. They have dropped all the tariffs and Australia is no longer putting all their eggs in one basket. The same will happen with US tariffs. Exporters will find new markets. The US will pay more or miss out.

He's insane if he thinks he can just randomly put 25% tariffs on countries. It will lead to mass worldwide boycotts of US products.

USA Consumers will buy what they want or can Afford . If Countries that are Tariffed try to Raise the Prices of their Tariffed Goods to bet aroud the USA Tariffs , Trump could either reject their Goods with Sanctions , OR American Comsumers just won't buy them simple as that . One thing to note is if there are high tarrifs on one country..as a business person I would choose the second lowest country to get the same product(if the product is rare and unique to that country obviously gov will exclude that from tarrifs)...why would I pay 25% extra...\n\nSince US has money many countries are willing to do business...So it's finally a loss to Colombia or any other country.

In addition due to the socialism our per capita income is only 72% of the great capitalist nation of USA. This implies that for every disposable dollar an American has we have only 25 cent. Now we are 10% of US population so for every $1 of disposable market they offer us we offer them 2.5c worth of market \n \nHow can such one sided unequal deals work?
