University Lobbyists want to fill Canada with Tax Payer Funded Students just to Make a bit of Money.\n....Monsters Destroying Canada for Personal Gain.

I get it. You love the flush toilets and taxpayer funded benefits but Canada is full.

The reason why it's increasingly more expensive to live now is mostly due to Covid. Worldwide, aproximately 1.7 TRILLION USD was given to corporations after Covid, and almost none of the money has returned to the governments, because well... they didn't plan for it to happen. The rich have gotten richer and the middle class have gotten poorer. When giving away so much money, there is bound to be inflation. The money was used to invest by the rich, buying mostly properties, which is why property prices are skyrocketing. There are so many apartments, particularly in Canada, where nobody lives, because there are so many rich investors buying properties. This phenomenon is not restricted to Canada, but most other large cities in western countries.\n\nYou might think the grass is greener in other parts of the world, but it literally isn't. I live in Norway, one of the richest countries in the world, and the situation is exactly the same here. Everything is getting more expensive, salaries stay stagnant and our currency is absolutely dogshit at the moment due to a failure of basic economics by our government and the central bank. Our oil fund, the wealthiest fund in the world, is actively making trades against our own national currency to make money, but they are making the currency itself worse, thereby reducing the value of it. The value of the oil fund evens out, but it lowers the purchasing capacity for everyone else. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. \n\nPeople would chop off a limb to get a passport in Canada. It is, as you said, a relatively safe place to come home to. There aren't too many countries like that in the world, and you are fortunate. I would advice you to reconsider moving abroad. Sure, Canada has many problems, but I can guarantee you, that living elsewhere in the world at this point is not going to ease your grievances unless you live a very frugal life.

The problem is with refuge intake. Not the employees. The problem is bringing refuge and doing nothing and exploiting government funds.

As FRENCH, I think it is more an issue with policies set by both governments!!! You know you bring students IN and why don’t you build houses and encourage construction???? In France, many students (mainly Africa, and French departments like Guadeloupe, Tahiti or Martinique) come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT - unlike Canada - we do NOT have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT to blame!!! It is the fault of the deciders (at different level) who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!! The schools are also to blame as some (not all) are so obsessed with making profits out of the higher international fees, which by way, subsidize Canadian students!!! So in Canada (not in France or Germany), the money that allows schools to function come from international students who BRING LOTS OF MONEY for the Canadian economy!!!! in France, it is different as the universities are FREE and are fully subsidized by the French government… but yes;) you have to speak French fluently to attend them!!! \nSo dear Canadians, do not blame foreign students thanks to whom your universities thrive and remain existant!!! Without them (namely the Indians too), the Canadian universities will struggle to find money and funding! Remember, the system in France is TOTALLY different!!!!

It's the backlog at the Landlord-Tenant Tribunal that causes this. Doug Ford needs to actually invest provincial funds into expanding the Tribunals so cases can be heard in a timely manner. We can't applaud Dougie for cutting funding to Tribunals to a shoestring, & then also be mad when the backlog for hearings is 2 years.

As a Canadian born in Canada I feel the border needs to be shut down. We have worked hard to set our standard of living, this is now in danger of collapsing because the government has allowed so many immigrants into Canada putting a strain on our healthcare,housing and other programs. These people are getting to use our resources without having paid into them for years like we Canadians have. Our way of life and standard of living are at risk of collapsing, we see it happening in our healthcare, affordable housing and the drain on funds for the poor. When we see them protesting about being forced to leave and how they refuse to try and take on our culture, where whole towns are being taken over by their arrogant attitude to take over these cities. We want our country back

Universities and Colleges should be mandated to pay the local City a surcharge of $1500-$2500/yr per Foreign student to local City to pay fair share of costs of public infrastructure. Local citizens pay property tax to fund infrastructure, Universities and Colleges (Conestoga the worst offender) need to pay up.

Shouldn't domestic schools focus on educating Canadian students? Post secondary education wages have become bloated off international funds and Canadian students can't afford the debt to go to our own schools anymore.

Didn't hear much conversation about building more housing. What's the issue? Zoning laws? Lack of space? Lack of funds?

Canadians are for a grim reality once universities begin to close. The provinces should had been funding universities properly instead of allow then to use international students as a money bank

These are fake students and equal participants in the biggest scam involving commission consultants, bank officials, and the fake diploma mill colleges. So please do not portray a rosy picture of higher education as these students can not even speak English properly. They are doing courses that hold zero value to get jobs that too from fake no credit colleges whose sole purpose was to make money with this scam. Whole ecosystem of corruption was created under this scam, there were even bank officials taking bribes to show enough funds in students account just by transferring money just for one day for students visa purposes. These students are acquiring no higher skills, but only filled the cheap labor jobs. They also lied to immigration officer that they have enough funds to live and will return to home countries after the course is finished. Rather, these students misused the local public services like food banks meant for poor people.

students can't do anything, as they had sign the declaration letter stating we are only coming for studies and we will not apply for funds from federal govt. and will not interfere in home policies. \nstudents ain't got any right to protest. come on man.

This goes to the prospective master's students. Dont let Germany's free tuition fool you. Better to relax and get the necessary funds and move to the US. You will regret it once you step foot in this outdated, rigid country with close minded people.

This needs to stop altogether. Immigration is NOT an economic plan and as such has worn quite thin. It has become so difficult to own and run a business (at least in Ontario) and probably the rest of the country due to taxation and added things like carbon tax which has never been explained in a meaningful way. There is also an issue of interprovincial consortiums buying up franchises in bulk and hiring only foreign nationals to work there. These politicians are in denial and have no stake in this which is why it seems like a viable solution. Some of them are also landlords and involved in the secondary mortgage market with investment funds, all the while making policy to keep working people and the middle class off the property ladder. You can’t get approved for a 2000 dollar a month mortgage but you sure can rent one of their properties through a buying consortium for 3500 dollars a month. It is obscene the grift that has taken place and all the while they have had a hand in fomenting a purchasing frenzy for homes which drives their property values / investments through the roof, sometimes to the tune of 10x what they paid for them. It is corrupt and if anyone thinks that 25million dollar Pollievre is going to be different then think again…..it will be a repeat of Stephen Harper only worse (he is pulling the strings for Pollievre.

Immigration is not the problem. Slave labour is. If people were given full time employment with a fair wage, they could build their own homes and contribute to the economy. That’s the problem! Love immigration but hate tax funded Temp workers . Bad deal for Temp workers and very bad deal for Canada. Young people , seniors who needs a few hours to make ends meet, people living outside cities, adults returning to work , uneducated but hard working folks , disabled people and others are unable to find work . In the old days people would worry about jobs being outsourced overseas and now the work still being outsourced to Temp workers . This in turn ,is worsening the homeless problems throughout Canada. I opened a pound account to hold my funds for my studies in the UK due to fluctuations in the currency market. I have not made any transactions on the account since. When given circumstances of true immigration are present, a majority of Canadians (or any other country, for that matter) have proved to be accepting. This is not the current situation, hence my noting that your title is misleading. Multiple countries are, during economic strife, being inundated with individuals perporting to be immigrants and stretching an already bad situation to breaking point. One questions the logic behind such decisions as can be illustrated thusly. A family is struggling with funds so decides to advertise a space in return for income and an understanding/expectation of contributing towards the general upkeep of said space. This would be mutually agreeable. The family would increase the hardships AND the effort they would be responsible for by taking in someone when they are at breaking point. They might, upon better circumstances, invite someone in to help bridge that guests progress... but not indefinitely. Now let's return to the current situation, shall we? It is not one but many. There is increased, NOT REDUCED, burden of effort. Some are not abiding to the general agreements of the house and, at least, doing their *fair* share. They need active workforce to pay the Tax so that insurance funds etc keeps working. But the ageing people don't want clutter, they want to park the vehicle easily, sit in the cafe without a hussle, visit cities eagerly which is not possiblevwith crowding out effect.

Left Canada 30 years ago and returned to an almost unrecognizable Toronto for a visit this summer. The deterioration of infrastructure was obvious. One underlying reason for much of the change is the emphasis on transfer payments and other entitlements, which limits investment potential. There’s only so much money to go around. Tax increases or increased government borrowing to fund development of schools, hospitals, the military, roads etc are not feasible.

Okay. To begin with, being white does not automatically make one Canadian. Immigration is the foundation of Canada; it is all about which generation of immigrant you are. The one mistake Canada made was to accept an excessive number of immigrants and students during a short period of time. This allowed students to work full-time employment, defeating the purpose of student visas. Why is no one discussing asylum seekers or refugees, which has made matters worse? All amenities, housing, etc., are provided to refugees using taxpayer funds. The money paid by taxpayers is meant to be used by those who made the tax payments. \n\nAll legal immigrants pay substantial fees and continue to pay taxes while they are employed, none of which has an impact on the economy. \n\nEmployers always give preference to Canadians with the necessary abilities over immigrants, even if the latter have higher skill levels. Despite having excellent credentials and expertise, I was not selected for any interview because I am not Canadian. Thus, give up lying and acting like the victim. Concentrate on the real issue. You are the preferred candidate for any employer if you are Canadian and meet the requirements.

I'm a Canadian living in the UK and can say two things - 1) if the West would stop bombing/exploiting/waging proxy wars in so many countries and displacing millions of people, this wouldn't be an issue. Stop funding war and pressure your reps to focus public funds back into your community. 2) The exploitative housing market has everything to do with corporate greed.
