The reason that the cost of living in greater Vancouver & Toronto is outrageous is simple: a Liberal government long ago enshrined the 'right' of new immigrants to go where they felt like, rather than where the country needed them. I am asian guy. It's been 32 years in Canada and I never had a girlfriend in Canada ?. Now I gave up meeting someone in Canada. Feeling lonely though at times, but I think Canada is still a good country to live. Definitely more opportunities here than places like Argentina, South Korea, etc. I go to Walmart to save money on groceries. Problem is I do feel lonely here, so in the future maybe I will try South East Asia to meet a girlfriend when I am older ?

Now, 40% of my daughter's childhood has been spent here and I I go to court soon to fight for my child to be returned home to me. After nearly one year- a year of financial hardship because I have to travel without a driver's license and without a group of friends to drive me- I have my very first hearing with a judge in Youth Court in a matter that has no foundation to begin with, follows no rule of law, and acts arbitrarily. My child whom I homeschooled to the praise of the provincial ministry of education and was following a classical liberal arts education path that had her outpacing students in the province was entrusted to the care of a Child Services company (that has a record of placements that have resulted in child murders). My child's life has been irrevocably upset to say the least. NO ONE LEAVING CANADA GIVES THIS STORY AS A RESON FOR QUITTING THIS COUNTRY. I guess no Canadians care about their children like I do my precious gift from God. True, O come from the former Soviet Union where Marshal Law (Emergency Measures Act) were commonplace. I lived through two in Canada in 4 years: one Federal, and one through Provincial Youth Court where I await my turn to see a judge after my daughter was removed from my care. I am sorry to hear this. I am in the same boat. I moved here around 37 years ago and found this country much better compared to my old country, especially when the army killed students. I decided to stay in Calgary, Canada. What makes me sad is seeing Canada going down the drain. While seeing everything getting worse, my old country becomes a prosperous, advanced and powerful country. My classmates back there were mostly high-level leaders, and some of them became elites. As the best student in the class, I could not get position even close to theirs. Only good thing is that I have been making a lot of money due to my strong technical knowledge and the capability to do difficult work. I hope I can at least maintain the same living standard when i am old, but it looks less and less certain. If I realized this at your age, I would have moved back.

I find it hard to believe that these migrants are having an easier time getting into Canada than the US. I've been to Canada 6 times as an American tourist and except for my recent trip up there to see the eclipse, the officers always asked at least 4 questions about my trip and plans like where I'm staying and one time how much money I had. One time when I went they did that 'secondary inspection' where they look through my luggage and enquire about items (in my case several electronics which most people travel with). These people who are going to Canada probably have enough money for a typical weeklong trip and probably have hotel reservations, etc. Other things immigration officers ask often is what kind of work you do and when you are due to report back to work, as well as who you live with. They want to be sure you have ties back home.

This is an ongoing issue. There is no accountability. Even if the tenant is evicted the landlord will have to absorb the lost income. LTB is not going to even help the landlord to recover the money.

When you save money for retirement, the govt takes your pension. When you try to save money from each paycheque, the inflationary prices of groceries/gas/utilities takes it away. If you need to go to a hospital or doctor visit, you have to wait months or can only settle for the most basic of services. If you try to own real estate, there's always some scheme to steal your money either by jackal tenants or the new capital gains tax. The whole persona of the Western world being the land of milk and honey is gone and has become a dark money-sucking debacle that only feeds the corrupt running the Federal reserves or World Banks. Unless you're a country like Ukraine or Israel, you get nothing.

Well my house to taken over by convicts and out of compassion me and my wife gave them our house, as we didn’t know how absurd the laws are to evict a bad tenant.\n\nI being helpless called police and email PM helpline , housing minister, but nothing happened till 4 months, they destroyed my property, and still owe me 14k rent plus utilities, excluding the damages and property mess they created. \n\nWe were terrified , they had two big rescues dogs and would threat us if we come to ask for house check or rent , they would release the dogs on us. \n\nI still have tenant body order for money claim, but my family suggested to leave and move on . A rental property isn’t a GIC itts not guaranteed money it’s a investment and some investments go down. But we have a serious problem where someone can live for more then a couple months with out paying rent
