I suggest viewers take a look at StatsCan’s crime severity index which confirms that Ontario is the safest province or territory in Canada (safer than PEI lol). There are also scores for cities and Toronto is safer than almost every other Canadian city, safer than even Ottawa or Calgary, twice as safe as Vancouver, nearly three times safer than Winnipeg. If we start comparing to US cities, it would be even more shocking. Suffice to say, Toronto is not only safe, but it’s the safest major city in Canada and one of the safest major cities on earth. \n\nThe homelessness crisis has certainly gotten a lot worse, sadly. As has the cost of living, but you get what you pay for.\n\nHaving travelled to 35 countries (doesn’t mean I’m an expert, but I have some experiences in other places), I respectfully disagree and think Toronto is one of the greatest cities. It’s one of the greenest cities in this continent, safe, on the lake, super close to other major cities, great infrastructure (relative to Canadian cities anyway), it’s beautiful and there’s a ton to do, not to mention the diversity. \n\nDon’t be turned off by this, if you can afford it, it’s one of the best places you could live on this planet.

I am a resident of Toronto for the past 11 years now. I moved here from Calgary because back then I had a better opportunity. I was an aspiring pastry chef. I landed in pretty stable and well paid job. I've already noticed the changes in city a few years before the pandemic. The drug addiction and mental health problem were already quite evident as injection sites were popping up around the cities including public parks. Then the pademic happened, it exposes the cracks in our society, some people are becoming selfish and intolerant. I lost my job due to the pandemic, it was very traumatic, I developed severe anxiety/depression. Luckily, i had some savings when it all happened. Fastforward, I've been working in the last 2 years now but I can no longer find the same job and pay I used to have. Most companies are now more ruthless. They let go employees any minute as soon as they felt the business is slow. There's no more job security. The only reason why I am surviving is because I am living in the same apartment since i moved here. However, my new neighbours who just moved in are paying twice as much. I've been attempting to leave the city but that would mean that i would be paying at least twice of my current rent and there aren't much opportunities elesewhere. I honestly felt trapped in my current situation but I am still grateful that I am still better off than many people who are already living on the edge. Sadly, the situation is only getting worst according to many analysts. I think the country is at a breaking point in many aspects.

Why does people even immigrant outside in a herd, Indian are leaving their country it's sad, all thanks to our shitty govt, they're not resolving anything. We're literally hopeless. People loves to mock us. Why people making other countries crowded, they'd of course hate it. Canada is called second Punjab, don't u think they feel bad about that? Canada's govt should do something about that and our govt too, so that people don't feel like leaving India. Oh My God ! I am an Indian but feel very sad because climate is very unfriendly to humans ! Please give them good shelter where climate is warm and bare able. Family bonding, addiction could be the reasons. Personally I can’t stand to severe cold. Please do something considering Canada is a rich country.

Imagine being a doctor, lawyer, or engineer in your own country, living a comfortable life, earning a comfortable wage, and you naively leave all that because you think you'll move to Canada thinking you will live the Canadian dream of a better life. Almost all immigrants have a way better job in their country but they come to Canada still. It's so sad that immigrants believe these silly lies. Canada is hard to live in and it is expensive! This gentleman is smart, articulate with his analysis of the situation. \nI echo his comments. If I am doing well in my country I wouldn’t leave— especially Africans and the African Diaspora. Our government passed a Bill to allow immigrants who have been prison allowed benefits here in our countries so anyone who came here February 9 2023 and their families are allowed to stay and get benefits also governor Illinois democrat signed a Bill to allow illegals to work as police officers.

So I’m going to echo a lot of the other comments here regarding gun violence. The number ONE cause of death to children is gun violence. Not illness,not car accidents, not poverty or abuse…GUNS. \nBut here is what I found so strange. I’ve never walked into a place of business in Canada that was so clearly diverse. I went into a ladies clothing store and everyone stopped and looked at me like “what are you doing here” I’m white and everyone else was black. And I was like “ what is going on” I thought, is this a thing? My friend had the same experience. He walked into a barber shop, he’s white and all the men were black. He didn’t get it either. In both cases we were treated very well and when they realized we were Canadian we all understood the situation. Because in Canada that just wouldn’t happen. I wouldn’t want to live in a country where even businesses are segregated. That’s just a sad situation.

Yes this is sad for the individual. But we have all seen the marbles ted talk. If you haven't it is basically the idea that the US can only take a drop in the bucket when it comes to immigrants. Even if we took the same percentage as Canada did, its still nothing compared to the amout of people trying to get in. It is better for thier home country for them to live here for a little bit and go back. The US essentially only takes the best and brightest people from other countries. Hi Tyler, born and raised Cdn here. I have American relatives and ancestors. I spent a lot of time going to the States to visit them when I was young and US felt like our big brother back then. Nice, clean, safe, fun and just big. Heck, when I was 15 I even took the Greyhound bus from Toronto to San Francisco. I've been back a few times but last was in 2015. Lkg to come back maybe this Christmas. I know media is biased but to give you some explanation, we don't have guns up here to the extent you guys do. Of course we have crime and sick things do happen up here but, we don't have to fear that every single person we come in to contact w is packin a gun. And the news intensifies our fear of that one aspect of your country's culture. And yes, the amount of mass shootings at schools terrifies us. I am sad to also see the political extremism in the US now. I miss the US of my childhood and certainly do agree, small town rural people are salt of the earth there. I even found New Yorkers nicer than Torontonians.

Im an immigrant here in Canada for 12 years now, but me and my family are happy and we have saved money for the future im so sad it doesn't work for you. Everyone has different experiences, I love my tropical country but I feel safer and contented in Canada anyway im living and working in Edmonton as a red seal welder and grateful for this country for paying me 65 dollars an hour which very impossible to get if im living in my country. The vast majority of these immigrants are not high skilled labour. People need to realise that the only reason Canada is doing this is because its birth rate is so low, they’ve said it many times. They are literally replacing their population and Canadian culture is dying along with it. My best friend is from Bangladesh and is only staying here past her graduation in chemical engineering because she decided to go to grad school. If there were more opportunities for her in industry, though, she probably would've just gotten a job. Very few wanted to sponsor her or anyone's visa, though. She's constantly telling me how she's thinking of moving to Western Europe or East Asia someday. It's so sad for us to make our country undesirable for immigration just because we make it difficult.

I'm 68, in british Columbia. I have always said that, thankfully, our border helps keep American culture out of Canada. I would not move to the USA even if I was offered $5 Million. People in the US should be taken care of first. I can understand both sides here as my SO came here as an immigrant in 89 and had that not happened I wouldnt have had 2 of my kids. Lived in Canada while working in the US for almost 20 years. Sadly although I had many friends I was often shocked by the attitudes of my colleagues. They almost all looked at other countries as inferior. Racism is absolutely a thing .There was no curiosity about other cultures. I knew people that died because of their hesitation to seek health care. The school shootings, although maybe they don’t happen ‘all’ the time there seems to be no desire to fix that. The US is going the wrong way regarding voting rights. My town actually sends out extra busses if you need a ride to vote. The support of the LGBTQ community and women’s rights are also problematic. US is good if you want to get yours but I personally don’t want to take two, when others aren’t even getting one. I am happily no longer working in the states.
