Americans have really drunk the koolaid and don't realize that they are the only ones who think their country is so amazing. There are some cool things about America but nothing worth moving there for especially from Canada. I think the only people that would think America is so great are people who are running from some terrible country (probably couldn't get into Canada). I use to enjoy visiting America every now and then but in this climate there's not a chance you'll catch me even visiting.

I am Canadian at the time I speak of I was recovering from hip replacement, an American lady was brought into my room from broken hip replacement surgery and no insurance, she was accepted as a patient, there was a meeting around her bed what they were planning to do to ,put her on a commercial flight home, for the fee she couldn't pay, the doctor told her he would for go his fee but couldn't say what the hospital would do about their fee, happily she was sent on her way home quickly, would this happen in America?

????I couldn’t resist answering this. , married an American , moved and lived there for 9 years, ran for the border with wings on my feet , appalled at the guns. , school shootings and everyone packing a gun,, , prejudice against anyone of colour ,,lack off decent healthcare, so uneducated about the rest of the world , , and thinking they were better than any other country. ,, how wrong they are ,, why we NEVER WANT TO BE A 51 st STATE,, SO PERISH THE THOUGHT AMERICANS…WE LOVE OUR COUNTRY , NOT PRFECT BUT,,,,,BETTER THAN THE USA. ,,,THE TRUTH ??????❤️❤️❤️❤️?

I’m not saying this is good for anyone that is living in ????. we already have a very bad housing crisis etc happening . but i definitely understand why they come.i have great empathy for them .. i feel horrible for them. these people aren’t lining up for black Friday deals or Taylor Swift tickets. these human beings are living in poverty, in danger in their own home countries. Now he thinks that putting tariffs on goods coming in from other countries will hurt THEM, but it doesn't, it hurts us the American consumers, so who he really wants to hurt is us, the American public. Effectively he has now raised OUR COST OF GOODS BY 25%. The same stupid thing he did his last time around!

So, who in Canada is going to step up and start the road to housing recovery? Will it be the lumber companies, who charge us more for our own wood than they do the Americans, Europeans and Chinese? Or how about the real estate speculator who HAS to double his profit with every deal so he can appease his greedy wife and spoiled brat kids? I'll admit I could be more educated on this but also why is running to America the solution. Watch our news. They use this for political gain. Solo's hundreds of billions of dollars that the government's going to take back and taxes from us all draw the cost of housing through the roof. Instead of at the time redirecting half of those two it was 500 billion take a half of that investment in putting it into infrastructure technology innovation for industries. Our education systems from kindergarten through to postsecondary education and spending it on the Canadians that were here. We've turned our post-secondary institutions in Canada into diploma Mills where you know your VA and your you know postgraduate degrees or you know they're worthless. However the government and the education system grew into a very profitable industry grinding out worthless degree after worthless degree for foreign students who thought when they got these degrees with 50% of Canadians have. People have to realize that post-secondary education is a big business so they're going to sell you a dream that's going to cost you a lot of money what I suggest is when YouTubers want to do something on Canada do some proper research let people know that we really do have quality post-secondary education system but you have to look at when you graduate those jobs going to be there to pay that large salary does White collar jobs are disappearing almost gone I purchase an app for my company with small company about 10 employees this inexpensive app alone has taken my office staff from 7: to 2: I have a 10 Red seal tradesman tradeswomen these 10 highly skilled trades people earn between 125 and 145,000 a year in gross salary and I need five more of these highly skilled people and I can't find them cuz everybody's running in to get a useless postgraduate degree. I do find it slightly offensive that a lot of new immigrants new Canadians immigrate to Canada to purely exploit it for its wealth Canada should be looked at as a place to come put your hard work in the struggles the ups and downs? and look at it as your home instead of you know a piggy bank but people are going to leave and there's a long line up to get in I've seen in my 40 year career you know three major reps and three major downs. What's happening in Canada's economy and the economies around the world it's all the same the US economy's doing quite well and talked to last couple of weeks friends that have invested their and families have been there long-term at present the United States is building a war economy so there's money pouring into that effort it does have a booming you know Hi-Tech boom as well however the tech boom is offshore with American companies and it's taking place in a part of the world that no one would think it would take place so if your graduate in the tech industry go online do a little research you'll find out where it is the USA is building a huge chip factories I think they just poured in 70 or 80 billion dollars we're in a transitioning economy don't get discouraged put your head into it do your homework find out where these new jobs are coming from which jobs are not going to be here. Traditional White collar you know middle management upper management jobs they've been gone for years everyone's think of themselves as an independent contractor. Also if you're a millennial or was a gen z person there's going to be a massive transfer of wealth over the next 20 to 30 years as baby boomers simply die off and then you guys are going to inherit their money I live in any one of the g7 economies I just got to find your niece with your qualifications and get in there and innovate because there's not one g7 country that significantly doing better than anyone else another interesting part of the world is East Africa I'm retiring there in 5 years I've already done my homework I've already got partners I've already started to train up people there in East Africa Canada and those parts of the world they have East Africa's great basic infrastructure so now that they've got their first level base of infrastructure a second economy is built off at the service that basic infrastructure that basic infrastructure allows for that second layer a bigger layer of investment you know and that's where the real money is for mid-level investors and you know highly educated Young westerners have got 10 years into their respective careers and these are also very beautiful countries you know so you can if you got family in Canada family in Europe India Asia you know you can start building networks collaborate on projects you know in these you know emerging economies you know mid-level economies but that's you know a good 20-year grind to get good at your career and build your confidence to go into these places and get these things done also you know it's a great life adventure but never expect just because you have an advanced degree that the door even come knocking down your door to employ you if you're going to wait for the opportunity to come to you you're going to be waiting forever you got to take your advanced degrees get out there and hustle and work hard man Canada's doing fine about four or five years it's you know it's going to take off next level and it's going to boom for 40 years and it's never going to get any cheaper in g7 countries Amy's emerging economies his pockets around the world they're starting to come up to in the window to get into these emerging economies with your advanced degrees it's closing if you don't make it if you don't start looking at it in the next 5 years your degrees are going to be gone useless and if you do decide to put your career in these emerging economies like Asia South America Central America Africa do it for the right reasons not just for money we don't want to make the same mistakes as like the industrial Revolution where a few people get rich and the people in that country you know don't get anything have respect for these countries employ their people and you have to get into these places before all the big corporations get set up there cuz they're they're going there Canada's a great place as a great time free medical system and I urge anybody that's feeling down or depressed in Canada you know to go get some therapy join some clubs talk to people don't get down and mostly don't you know don't give up on yourself you guys made it through you know Elite post-secondary education system and if you can if you can do that I mean you can you can do anything a lot of hard work ahead truly best of luck to all you guys

The old it hasn't touched my life is a typical American response. Until it does. There were almost 2 mass shootings a day (630+) in the US in 2023. Back in the 70s and 80s, I spent a lot of time in the US due to my involvement in sports. Today, you couldn't pay me to step across the border. Ya, all gotta get your shit together. Fascism is knocking at your door. And it's migrating north. Canadians are better educated, and with our diversity, the average Canadian has a deeper understanding of the world. We are a global village unlike the US melting pot. It's a sad statement to make, but the world doesn't love America, just your money. Way back, I loved going to the Sabers games. It was a great night out, and only a quick hop across the border. Those days are long gone, and it breaks my heart.

I'm from India and was in Indianapolis on work for one month. I thought i'll go nuts from the sheer lack of human contact. Practically nobody to talk to, the roads are empty, the streets are empty. If you start a random conversation with a guy in the street, he totally freaks out. Maybe it's different in other places but man it was very very depressing and i just couldn't wait to fly back. Of course, i love American people and they are very warm if you know them from before but strangers exchanging pleasantries, that is absent. It would be nice to just see people on the streets but no. Not sure how the kids keep themselves entertained

They come in without any vaccinations at all and are not required to have even standard vaccines like tuberculosis, rubella etc…they aren’t forced to take the “covid” vaccine either and yet Americans lost their rights in so many areas, they couldn’t go to Church, into places like restaurants, their gyms along with many other places they were either shut down or required you to have the vaccine and many lost their Jobs if they didn’t submit to taking the fraudulent and experimental vaccine. Funny that the left are STILL unable to process the fraud and lies that continue to be the real plague in the US.

I question American food being of high quality as a lot is banned in other countries because it contains chemicals that aren't meant for human consumption. I couldn't imagine living in the US when something as simple as children going to school is so stressful because of the school shootings. Over 630 mass shootings just so far this year. It would be a hard no, absolutely not for me. I won't even go there to visit. I have family members who have lived there for decades and I'm afraid they are now just as uninformed as millions of Americans. Especially the ones who were 'educated' there.

I lived in the US for 30 years. I hated every year, except for having my sons there. My American husband is a staunch NRA supporter. At the 30 year mark, when I gave him an ultimatum. I gave him 30 years down there, and the time had come where he needed to do 30 years in Canada. We've been in Canada for 6 years, and he doesn't ever want to go back.\nI feel for the new mothers, who only get 6 weeks maternity leave (8 weeks for C-Section).\nCanadian Mums get a full year. Nurturing your new baby is necessary for a well-balanced child. You can't bond in 6 weeks. \nYour health insurance is nuts. We paid $1500/mo. just for our family. Then you have a $5k deductible first! Just walking into the ER is $500 and THEN add on labs, x-rays, meds, etc. My son was in mental health treatment and our insurance capped mental health at $25k for life. \nThe biggest slap up my head, was when I found out I CAN'T collect my SSI. I paid a lot of taxes, since we made 6 figures/year. So, now I'm screwed, since they won't pay a former Permanent Resident. Had I been a citizen, I could get it. My husband is a PR in Canada, waiting to take his citizenship test. If he applies for SSI, he needs to go down to the States for 30 days and nights, annually. \nI'm from Toronto, born and raised and I am so happy to have my feet back in my own country. My boys are still there, as well as my grandchildren. Thankfully, they fly up twice a year. You couldn't pay me to move back.

I've recently had experiences with the US healthcare system through my partner, who is American, and I was appalled. I would challenge that the health care is higher quality in the US than Canada. I saw a complete lack of care, unprofessionalism, incompetence, and a bureaucratic mess the likes of which I've never experienced here. Even the premiere hospital in the region couldn't compare to the level of care I have experienced in the larger city hospitals here. Of course, his care did cost several thousand dollars a day, for which they sent him a bill after sending the original bill to the wrong department to get paid (through his insurance). It was a mess, all during which he suffered, had them come up to 2 hours late with his narcotic pain meds, taking up to an hour to answer a call bell, and generally being the antithesis of care. I am very happy that when we first began our relationship, I made it clear that I would never move to the US, and he was okay with that.. In fact, he's very much looking forward to leaving the country of his birth, for whom he served in the military for 20 years, and moving to Canada.

We have pondered moving to the US but it always scares me thinking of all the service safety nets behind. I don't know how many Americans know this, but basically at birth you are assigned a health card which you keep for the rest of your life. Anytime you go to the doctor they ask for that and it has all your info on it (family doctors, your address, etc) and that's all you do. See the doctor and then leave. Private/work health insurance is more for prescription, dentists,massage, therapy, physio, eye, ambulance rides,etc. \nBut childbirth, ER visits, doctors visits all covered by that card...which is funded by our are taxes. We are taxed to hell and back on the daily but it's just so normal you don't think differently of it. We do have a shortage of Dr's though. An ER wait can be upwards of 2-4 hours and your family doctor can take weeks to get an appointment with so you usually have to go to a hospital or walk in if it's urgent.\nAlso, guns. Guns guns everwhere ? I saw a sign when I was walking into Walmart in Florida saying to not bring guns inside and I just couldn't believe that was a thing that had to be said. In Canada, guns are for hunting and going to the range and that's the only time they're allowed out of their safe. Obviously you have people who have stolen and smuggled guns and that's how you get gun crimes (you need a special card to buy guns and ammo, that you get after passing a gun safety course and *most* gun crimes are not committed by people who hold those cards). I appreciate the fact that you don't have so many restrictions on the types of guns you can get but man, I never felt so rattled just walking around after seeing that sign

The fact that Tyler is surprised at how many people bring up school shootings as a reason to stay away from the US is a scary indication of how much this type of violence has become normalized. I'm Canadian and throughout my professional life I've spent time working in the US. In fairness, I've met some truly great people. Also in fairness, religion seeps into US politics in ways that it never does in Canada and never in a good way. Christian fundamentalism is a scary reality of US life intent as it is on heaping hate on sexual minorities and taking away rights wherever they are allowed to. An additional point, but this one is only an irritant, is how ignorant so many Americans are about the world. At any rate, I'm retired and live with advanced kidney disease and a pacemaker. For those reasons alone I couldn't afford to live in the US. Thankfully, my country takes good care of me and my provincial government (Québec) even covers most of the cost of my expensive prescription drugs.

Hey folks remember this tactic was used along with mass invasion and immigration itself by the European hordes who not only used biological warfare, uneven warfare and constant invasion of more and more numbers just so they could squat and steal the homelands of the indigenous ethnic American people, The peasants were non-Land owners in Englamd where they couldn't own any land because they were peasants, not nobles or the gentry. The illegal hordes from Europe got welfare once they got to America.

The United States government needs to take care of the American people. I don't understand why we don't protect our borders more. It's okay to accept people into our country we have always done that but when people get together and storm the borders and we get criminals we get everything else included because you always get the good and the bad. No country is perfect by any means I have been to other countries and couldn't wait to get home. I love my country. There's too much corruption there is too much disruption between the parties. We used to be respected now other countries just laugh at us.

You know I used to have a lax attitude about immigration. Like if they want to come let them. That is until my small family and I were made homeless in April of this year. I am disabled bug earn an income in addition to disability benefits I earned by being educated and having two degrees. I couldn’t find any resources or housing. I found lots and lots and lots of resources for undocumented people even grocery assistance, rental assistance and whole orgs finding them housing. Even with kidney failure and dialysis we couldn’t find help. We had to be referred to Adult Protective Services to get any help. It took 6 months. We live in a sad place because American families can’t find affordable housing.

You miss the point about school shootings. Just the prevalence of weapons in the US makes the possibility of a shooting far greater, so in my Canadian eyes, there is NO safe place in the states. I have American relatives, and the first time my sister showed me the hand cannon she carried in her car it freaked me out. I’m not a shrinking violet when it comes to weapons. I was in the military for 6 years and spent 33 as a federal parole officer. Truth. be known, I owned a .357 for years prior to the birth of my first child, and although I kept it in a locked box with a trigger guard and the ammunition in a separate locked box after the birth of my first child I couldn’t countenance keeping it in my house.

Speaking as a Canadian, I couldn't imagine moving to the US. Gun violence, crowds, lack of health care, the prison industry, elected judiciary, heavily polarized politics, racism, the preference for individualism over tactfulness and shunning of people on social assistance are cultural elements I couldn't endure. Despite the fact the weather's often much better, lower air fares or cell rates, abundant shopping choices, interesting places to visit and the friendliness of most Americans, it's a hard no. We already have enough American influence here and sadly, I live in an area led by ignorant politicians who'd like to adopt us policies.

Now if you were a talk show host you could become an American citizen almost overnight like Craig Ferguson or Jon Oliver. They couldn't do anything productive yet all it takes is a little societal fame and bingo, you're in.

Couldn't the argument be made that the huge per capita influx of immigrants is precisely why Canada's wages are so much lower than in US? It seems like a top priority of the US immigration system is to keep wages high for Americans. An ideal system probably lies somewhere in-between.

The only conceivable reason I can see is for actors there are more opportunities. And musicians have a larger population base to sell to (but that wouldn't require they move there). I work for an american company in Canada and I could move to California for better positions but you couldn't pay me enough to ever consider it.

Americans feel everyone has usa high on a pedestal which couldn't be further from the truth. Hollywood has done a good job of social engineering the people to think usa is the best and do everything the right way and any other way is ìnferior.\nHaving experience working with Americans who were nice people but extremely ignorant that other countries can do things better and try to change everything without considering there is better ways..\nIm not Canadian I'm Australian but being a cousin in the Commonwealth of Nations. We all have a similar philosophy and having a constitutional monarchy protects from tyranical fascist governments.

Money is the only reason to cross to the US, and frankly, you couldn't pay me enough. I would make somewhere between 3 and 4 times the pay if I moved my career to a US city. Not worth it. \n\n- It's a country where the number one cause of death for kids under 19 is mass shootings.\n- There is political and racial violence and threat of violence rampant everywhere\n- the USA has 60 times the number of active serial killers at any given time as the rest of the world COMBINED\n- Educational standards are abysmal in many states, particularly the red ones.\n- Hand in hand with that is a general air of ignorance that is impossible to ignore or live with\n- At least one third of the population is afflicted with a strong case of Dunning-Kruger effect, and elects only those most strongly afflicted...\n- People are still fighting for basic rights and still being vehemently opposed.\n- 35 million Americans have zero medical insurance, and another 80 million are under-insured, versus zero Canadians.\n- way more people possess guns than are mentally equipped to handle one.

I was never interested in moving to the States but I think my reasons are different then most.\n\nStarting in my teens, I couldn’t understand why anyone would willingly live somewhere you couldn’t wander in the wilderness without worrying about things like poisonous snakes and poisonous bugs. I couldn’t understand what was so great about swimming in the sea if you have to worry about what part of the beach and how far out you go. How can swimming be fun? Lakes and rivers are much better. \n \nWhen I got older, I couldn’t understand how anyone could enjoy summer when the sun goes down so early in the evening. I left Vancouver, BC partially because the summer days are shorter then home and the winters are too dark. Even on an overcast night in winter up here, the light reflects off the snow and makes the night brighter. Do I like -30C or colder when it happens? No. I can’t walk the dogs because their feet might freeze but they’re idiots and will wrestle in the house if I don’t.\n\nNow that I’m almost 60, I note that all of my American cousins who had duel citizenship have moved back to Canada upon retirement where the conversation rate makes their pensions worth more and after 3 months they qualify for BC medical.\n\nThe guns, healthcare, right wing “Christians”, loss of human rights and potential for violence are why I don’t want my daughter to ever move there.

I live just outside of Montreal, pretty near the border. One of my good friends used to live in Vermont, right near the border and we would visit each other several times a year. She moved to Tennessee, and I flew down to visit her a few years ago (haven't been down since COVID) while Trump was still president and I'm not even joking when I say that as soon as I left Nashville I was highly anxious 100% of my time there. And I'm white, I'm not a visible minority, I suppose if I kept my mouth shut nobody could tell I'm not from there, it really hit me how sad it is that I even felt that. All these patriotic gun toting Americans I feared would shoot me for whatever reason they could come up with. I understand that that's not ACTUALLY likely, I was glad I left my husband and children at home, and while I enjoyed my weekend there I couldn't WAIT to get back home. New England was easier to handle, but I'm not cut out for the openly racist, homophobic, anti women's rights, you name it kind of discussions. I was horrified that not only do people ACTUALLY think like this, but those who are being oppressed, or those who simply support those being oppressed are having to keep quiet for fear of being murdered because of this. Nashville was really cool, I loved it, but I truly feared for my safety outside of the city, despite being a straight white woman. I can't imagine what it's like for the minorities, it's so sad. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you're just numb to it, because being on the outside looking in, it's hard to believe what's actually going on, it looks as though the country is regressing,

Right now, you'd have a better chance being Mexican and willing to work in a restaurant or factory. \nAs far as moving to the USA, no way. NEVER! Not even if you pay me.
