As a multi-generational, born-and-raised Canadian citizen. Recently, I have been unemployed for 1 year and 2 months, which is the longest I have ever gone without a job in my entire life. My EI has run out, and during this stressful time, I have only had 4 actual interviews with real human beings. I am also a caregiver for both of my parents, and working remotely has been my profession for the last 7 years. Remote work allows me to both care for them and bring in a full-time income. Despite having 30 years of customer service experience, I find myself being overlooked. Many companies now use AI to prescreen resumes, so if your resume isn’t ATS-friendly, it often never gets seen by a human. Even if you make it past that stage, there are endless AI-driven assessments before you even have a chance to speak with someone. And when you finally do, it’s often yet another layer of screening rather than a real interview. I know I bring value — I consistently receive compliments from customers across cultures for speaking clearly, precisely, and making their experience enjoyable. Yet I find myself competing with younger candidates who can work longer hours, or new immigrants that companies often prioritize, sometimes with government incentives. At 55, I feel like I’m being overlooked despite my proven skills and professionalism. Right now, I live with my retired parents and should be caring for them. Instead, my father is helping me pay my bills so I don’t ruin the credit I worked so hard to build. If I don’t secure a job soon, I fear I’ll lose everything else I’ve managed to hold onto. The stress is overwhelming — I cry daily, and on top of everything, I also face health issues of my own, but I have no space to focus on them because survival takes priority. Canada today feels very different from the country I grew up in. Since the pandemic, things have become harder in every way — jobs, housing, and simply living. Even if I manage to secure work, rent alone now takes up nearly 75% of what I’d earn, not even including other basic bills. It’s disheartening to feel like no matter how hard I push, I can’t get ahead.

The actions of few spoiled Indians affect the entire Decent Indian community and India. Canada is in need of labour force due to less population and India has more population but insuffient jobs to engage people. If this scenario is reversed Indians would be complaining like canadians do. So the problem is not one way, just becos reducing immigrants does not solve the issue. people have to see things past nationality or physical identity into the statistics. even though canada has professionals of their own there are people who work with dedication and who work without interest, or recent generation being attracted to digital life instead of understanding that college degrees in mainstream subjects are what earns them job and also they have to show dedication and hardwork along with smart work, comply by the work place rules and so on... this goes to all invariable of who they are. all these started changing and now people instead of trying to correct these small changes that lead to these large issues of cost of living and low wages, have now started to pit against live people and their race, nationality or culture. There are good and bad people eveyrwhere, people cant justify the actions of drug addicts roaming the streets and that has increased a lot now, people acting violently against others just becos they dont have what the other has, and so on. but instead of addressing the high amount of actions that are happening around our own country, it has become easy to put blame on each other. I am not justfying the actions of these bad indians who has done these stuff. but we have to see the other side of it before making this a International Issue. Yes, few Indians are bad but not the entire community. Canada has its own needs that needs a lot of hands and support. So, only if we change our perspective beyond the emotional BS we exhibit, we can address the real issue with real solutions. BTW becoz of these things private companies are the one profitting not the Govt.

It’s really disappointing to see some immigrants not making any effort to adapt to this beautiful country, but instead trying to recreate everything exactly as it was back home. I’m an immigrant healthcare professional myself, and I visit many nursing and retirement homes. It feels extremely disrespectful when immigrant workers speak only in their own languages even when others around them don’t understand. Just a few days ago, I was in a park and witnessed someone spitting red tobacco all over a tree trunk. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable in Canada. We came here for better opportunities and a better life, so it should be our responsibility to respect the culture and the public spaces here. I genuinely believe the government needs to be stricter about who they allow in. Canada doesn’t need people who refuse to integrate or who create a nuisance in public. Diversity is about sharing and respecting each other, not about ignoring Canadian values or lowering public standards. If someone is not willing to respect this country and its culture, then maybe Canada is not the place for them.

As an emmigrant who came to this country 15 years ago, I am astonished by the lack of knowledge this country has. This reason stands in empty education ( in an irony of life, the canadians call it one of the best on the word), and the belief Canada is a democracy. It is typically a fascist country that makes spurious elections because it is truly run by an establishment hidden as a secret society and in the surface is run as a mafia by small groups of interest ( corporations, professional order, injustice system, and emty shell politicians). The others ( the canadian people) they enjoy democracy 😂, high quality of life( really, just make a visit to a poor european country as Portugal, Greece ). The same goes for education, just oven degrees hot and not edible. Now Canadians learned that immigrant are taking their land and opportunities. You're lied, put under pot, and cheated by your democratic representatives. Try to fight, you'll be in a gulag (minus 15 Celsius only for some day) until the nobel prize candidates of uot and mcgill will put you democratically under tanax.

There’s nothing like that ever it’s all alive. What you saying? This is just the wish of some bigots. You’re feeling all your doctors and other professional gaps and you’re given all the lower jobs from restaurants to any other lower jobs that Canadians don’t wanna do. Yes you’re right. An immigrant family can come here and six years later have a house because they share all the family by a house because they have a family value. The earlier arrivals here to buy house is a big dream they won’t make it except the privileged the work by family members and oil rigs are the professionals. This country use built by immigrants all it is the early arrivals and the late arrivals. To begin with this is a stolen country. At least the immigrants are coming by legal method, but the early arrivals they just stole it by killing the natives.

Canada is scamming professional to come then ended up jobless because they can't practice their profession without your Canadian license. How? Study first..😂

Say what you will about Prime Minister Trudeau but the man can speak like a true professional unlike that orange turd on the other side of the border. Well done PM!

From Germany: This is what a leader talks like. Also it's nice to see how blunt yet still professional one can be when you are a capable politician who doesn't have to dance on eggshells for fear of non-reelection. On a worldwide financial side though, I pulled my retirement fund out of North American investments this morning. Better safe than sorry.

I love the way he speaks clearly, with a balance of politeness and harshness; every word is so clear that anyone could understand his intentions. I admire his attitude in both positive and negative ways. He is a professional and a true leader.

My husband and I were both immigrants to Canada, he from S. Africa, I from the UK. I never experienced any discrimination. My busband was diagnosed with late stage bone cancer at 31 years old. The medical care was so good that he lived another 6 mostly happy years. We were supported by the Ontario Health Care system with visiting nurses, even housekeepers and received every help we could possibly need, at no cost to us. I will always be grateful for the love and support we received from Canadian friends, employers and the medical professionals. What a country! I am in Europe now but feel strongly that Canada, the EU, Britain, the wonderful Ukrainians (I know quite a few refugees) and other countries of good will should work together for a better world. We are a family and families support each other in difficult times. Americans welcome when they are ready.

Initiate a brain drain by easy transfer of American professional credential into Canada. EZ ?

I’ve read a lot of comments from people saying “Trudeau ruined Canada” in response to people expressing their support for Trudeau in this time.\n\nThat’s not really a great point.\n\nIf Trudeau hasn’t been good for Canada, but gives a coherent, inspiring, and professional speech in this moment that unites Canadians and others alike, then that should speak so much to how awful this situation is. Huge respect to Trudeau and Canada for not backing down. I hope one day we’ll be allies with the right side of the world again.\n\nWe wanna talk about a leader ruining a country? That’s what Donald is doing right now. Except he won’t unite us in the future with a speech like this.\n\nThis American stands with Canada!
2025-03-04 0
Regardless of your thoughts on Trudeau, that was a very professional and reasonable speech. \nJust two months ago, Canada was sending firefighters, planes, and water to help with the LA fires... I will never understand why Trump chose to bully Canada after decades of them being our closest ally??!!? \n\nThis feels like a black mirror episode. ?

I’m a 53 year old Canadian. I went to college on an athletic scholarship & lived there for 10 years after turned professional in my sport. Why, why, why - with all the problems going on in the world right now to tackle - why would you want to start a trade war with your closest trading partner & most loyal ally? Not to mention that your list of Allies is shrinking daily. This is not going to end well for either of us. \nI just arrived home from a trip to the grocery store - making sure nothing in my cart said “ made in the USA” on it due to the new tariffs that began today. \nThe irony is, many of the states where Trump won by the biggest margin, are the states that are going to get hit the hardest from Canadian retaliation tariffs ( Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, the Dakotas - just to name a few). A lot of farmers in those states are going to be hit extremely hard with the fertilizer tax. After Canada, the next 3 largest Potash producers are Russia, Belarus & China. So , good luck \nWhen the cost of fruit & vegetables skyrocket across the US. Maybe you’ll put a little more thought into your vote 4 years from now.

I'm embarrassed you think trudope is professional in any way.
2025-03-04 0
I am so proud of Canada and the Prime Minister. As an American, and respect and support this professional and empathic acknowledgement to this hideous tariff war. Americans are watching a mature leader, addressing several nations. The Heritage foundation is reckless and feeding Dfrump.

How refreshing to see and hear such a professional president. I appreciate you.
2025-03-04 0
The MAGA’s probably think Trudeau is a pu$$y for speaking coherently and with class and professionalism. Thanks Trump, don’t worry your loyal middle and lower class servants will foot the bill for you and call it greatness.

I wish to heck American journalists would figure out how to pronounce Fentanyl. It is NOT fen-ta-nol. It's fen-te-nyl. Get it straight. You are professionals.?
2025-03-04 0
People in the comments keep praising this guy..... sure he gave a nice professional speech. But, it doesn't change the fact that he's a joker and a complete douchebag to his country and to others especially India
2025-03-04 0
What a BEAUTIFUL SPEECH!!! So refreshing to watch a real professional intelligent PM. GO CANADA. NZ IS WITH YOU!!
2025-03-04 0

This is an educated, caring and professional leader. He is a gentleman and classy man.
2025-03-04 0
I love Canada.... Trudeau speaks so well and he is very professional at all times. This is a true model of what a president should be. Those clowns that we have in office ??are embarrassing on all levels. Hey President Trudeau, quick question... Would you like to be president of Canada and USA?
2025-03-04 0
As a foreigner myself , It’s actually a pleasure listening to a political leader and actually believing what he is saying \nWell done President Trudeau \nI wish my country politicians have that professionalism level
2025-03-04 0
Sounds like a professional his policy’s say otherwise. I’ll take Trump then a polished pompous authoritarian. Honk honk ?
2025-03-04 0
He spoke so articulate and professional, his speech pin pointed the important issues at had. Well Done Prime Minister.
2025-03-04 0
Trump can't give a speech without it becoming a whine about how unfairly he is being treated.\nTrudeau, in the face of actual oppression, is calm, steady and professional.\nThe difference is like night and day.
2025-03-04 0
Such a professional speaking gentleman! I’m from United States and fully support Canada!??
2025-03-04 0
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke eloquently and professionally as a true leader should. Canada you will get through this. I am neither Canadian or American but I am with Canada but I stand firmly with Canada. I love your country and I love Canadians.❤❤❤❤❤

This is what a professional snake oil salesman sounds like.Own country thinks he is woke and weak and now he wants to grandstand. Lol
2025-03-04 11
American here. Wish my president could give such a professional speech like this. No name calling. No lies. No blaming others.
2025-03-04 0
Reassuring to see so many country leaders talk so professionally in the wake of the Clown leader of the Circus in the US, have so much respect for Trudeau and the people of Canada, I feel so sorry for the American people your leader is an embarrassment to you and the world, regards from Down Under??

From all the bullying that this man gets from Canadian citizens and American leaders, I love how he handles things very professionally. He’s got exceptional self control and never lost his temper. Always showing humbleness. A great example of a true Canadian.
2025-03-04 0
A very articulate, professional and intelligent man has spoken. I heard him word for word. God bless you Canada and God bless America!
2025-03-04 0
say whatever you want about Trudeau, but compare his speech with Trump's. Trudeau talks professionally like an actual leader should do. Trump whines and makes everything about himself like an old idiot rude drunk grandpa.\nand if Trudeau is bad, then what the F is Trump?!
2025-03-04 0
He speaks with such professionalism unlike America’s leader. He does not make it about himself like Trump does, he does not gloat fear monger the people. Dang can we elect him for here too? ?
2025-03-04 0
?‍♀️ have room for 1 American seeking to move. UGH The professionalism of Canadian Government is amazing! Agree with Canadian President and thank you Sir for this warning.
2025-03-04 0
Very good speech President Justin Trudeau!!! Wish you come back for our President for another 4 years or more! You are strong, professional and work for people of Canada. You care for your country and not against. We need you ?
2025-03-04 0
I served alongside Canadian military when I served in the US military. They were very tough, honorable, and outstanding professionals. I have friends and family from Canada, and they love America. This trade war is so sad and so devastating for so many Americans and Canadians. These tariffs are so stupid, it's beyond reason. Trump is treating America's best friends and allies like enemies! This is not only dishonorable behavior by a US president, it is despicable!
2025-03-04 0
Former school teacher speaks as he actually is or was a professional of any kind. That is hilarious.
2025-03-04 0
It sounds good to hear a real professional and educated President speak.
2025-03-04 0
Spoken with professionalism as a leader without getting ignorant, bullishness and disrespect. Thank you sir! Shame on our Oval Office here in USA.?
2025-03-04 0
I have to I’m happy to see him actual find his federal spine!!! This speech was clear, constructive, professional and one that I can back! I’m willing to put up with the pain for the sake of our pride! He needs now to actually follow up with firm action, both in tariffs, reducing electricity, natural gas, oil as well as giving support to those Canadians who will need them,

‪You need to find yourself a professional trader, stay off screen and make money. Not everyone trying to make a benefitting change is a scam. if you hold a stock for over a year before selling it, the profit may be taxed at a lower rate than income from wages or business ‬
2025-03-04 0
Some of us Americans completely agree with you! Thankyou for being professional and stating the facts!
2025-03-04 0
What a difference between Trump and Trudeau! He is so elegant and professional. Trump sounds like he’s from the streets. ❤??
