He also wants Greenland so he can secure the Northern passage.\nCanada is a country of the British Commonwealth, and it is interesting that Trudeau met with King Charles last week. Oddly enough, the British Prime Minister dodged questions from White House reporters on this topic.\nNow about the G7 forthcoming summit: Trump is a convicted felon and may not attend without the permission of the host country, which this year happens to be Canada!

To my mind, Trump would have started the trade war with Canada no matter what measures Canada undertakes. My guess is the underlying motive behind the whole theatre is to somehow pressurize Canada into complete submission. Remember his comments about Canada should become the 51st state? I presume that in reality his eyes are set on Canada‘s vast resources and the potential north-west passage which would be a fantastic gift to his master Putin.

Trump has openly said he wants Canada to become the 51st state, even though this is a huge ask as Canada has a population larger than any US state (California is close in population size), Canada has a land mass nearly the size of the US and, including water mass, Canada has a larger overall area than the US. Trump also wants Iceland to be owned by America. He has become power crazy during a war because this is his only chance to stoke his ego to undreamable levels. Trump wants to be America's Putin.

As a Trump supporter and a Trudeau detractor, it is becoming more obvious to me that this threat of tariffs has become Trumps way of bullying Canadians into becoming the 51st state. I can confidently say as a Canadian, what Trump has done and continues to do is driving the biggest wedge between Canada and the USA.
