Trump's plan is to be a dictator. Tariffs, lack of access to education, lack of affordable healthcare, lack of affordable housing, lack of access to nutritious food causes American's to focus their attention on basic needs Shelter and Food. When American's are repressed they don't have the energy to fight Gov't oppression. This is Russia and China's playbook. Canada and Mexico are being used to achieve this evil goal.

3rd generation American here, I too stand with Canada, the UK, Mexico and Europe, not with Russia, China or the communist worshiping president that I did NOT vote for. Greetings from California! I stand with all of our friends in Canada, Mexico and China! I did not vote for this catastrophe but am definitely feeling the pain of these horrendous tariffs. My heart is with our friends up North and I hope you understand that many of us here in the US did not want this. We are plagued with a complete nut case for a President who was given the ultimate power of house and Senate majority plus the Supreme Court so there is no fix for the nightmare in the near future. All I can say is I am sorry for what we all have to endure now.

Here is another approach to Trumps tariff. Any country like Canada, China and Mexico etc etc. All these countries can tell Trump shove it. Stop importing goods into the U.S. find other countries that can and replace the U.S. and watch America and Republicans literally collapse. Just a thought Tariff means customer will pay more for sure.

My recommendation for Canada is to trade and work closely with China and Mexico. It could raise more jobs and minimize the loss from the trade war.

Looking in from the UK Trump has just gone 100% rogue for the west and 100% for Russia. By splitting USA V Canada V Mexico trade which he signed of in his first term he has now supplied Russia with the split they wanted. USA power has always been the number of allies it has around the world now it is splitting from them and joining Putin which makes Putin very happy. You follow the money trail of China and Canadian dealings ,an investigative journalist did and found precursor supplies to make fentanyl heavily coming into Canada from China, being assembled in Canada, then shipped to mexico drug cartels from Canada, then entering US across mexican US border....so how is Canada not to blame when RCMP know of drug labs in Canada and turn blind eye as do the politicians, and meanwhile China launders the drug money through real estate and casinos. No one wants to address the elephant in the room. Life is easier while Blind, till it isn't!

Fentanyl raw materials and equipment for processing is exported from China. Mail orders directly has also been used.\nBut high taxes are places on Canada and Mexico. \nThis is not about fentanyl.

Picking a trade war with Canada, Mexico, China and major economics is a very bad idea. It will not bring anybody to the negotiation table to get a better deal. It will drive them away from US partnership and they form alliances, new trade routes and partnerships, de-dollarization, etc. Just think why does a country needs USD when they cannot trade with US. BRICS have overtaken G7 in the overall GDP. So, In the end, US will be left alone with limited trading partners. US people will need to pay for tax + tariffs which will put them in a downward spiral.

Why are we blaming fentanyl on Canada and Mexico? Or even China or Colombia, or wherever the hell it's produced? Last I checked, there were no Mexicans or Canadians coming over here and injecting people with syringes in the middle of the street.\nThe US refuses to legalize drugs, or even decriminalize them... and then we're surprised how there is a rampant black market with - gasp - unsafe drugs. That being said, I do agree that the crossings from Canada are not nearly as significant as compared to our southern border. It would be nice to see more from Canada in their investments to secure the border and stop crossings, cartel movements, and drug operations. The US has spent more than 409 billion since 2003 on such operations. Regardless, I feel for you Canadians and it sucks that it has come to this and I hope we keep strong relations in the future. Hopefully we can come to a fair deal soon. Mexico and China are the big players that do not do nearly enough to prevent these crimes. In fact, the Mexican government helps the cartels by not trying to stop them. China's lack of regulation on the ingredients to make fentanyl contribute to a large extent to this tragedy as well.

Now with 20% tariffs on China , the iPhone full import price $700 (sale price). is taxed(tariffs) x 20% = $140. Trump wants 20% corporate rate extended and ultimate 15% corporate rate. Most all the overseas US mfg might come home to moma. \nI would advise Trump to selectively wave tariffs on some items like lumber from Canada and food from mexico. As for oil from Canada I think Trump will let Chevron develop and buy heavy oil from Venezuela. If not might have to wave/reduce tariffs on Canadian diluted bitumen oil.
