Canada uses tariff on US for a long time. Why is it that when US does the same thing it’s not right?

The people of Hawaii, I think, would love if Hawaii were a province of Canada. Why? Because Canada has the same values as Hawaii's people. Canada is full of people of good quality--people who believe in freedom, opportunity, good neighbors, and a peaceful life in a beautiful environment. Think about it Canada . . . send us a proposal.

When the trash arrived it was not recyclable. Philippine president said stop sending but Canada continued to send it. So finally he said if you send one more ship, we will declare no war on you. And if that happened, without US help, even the Philippines would destroy Canada in a war. Way more fighting aged males and Canada has a worthless military. Canada has a GDP of 5-10% of US. So Trudeau acting tough is hilarious. Like a chihuahua barking at a grisly bear. If push came to shove, in the time of US war need, the US would simply take whatever it wanted from Canada. That's what happens when you don't develop your own substantial military-just like Europe now.

As a Republican... I agree with many things our country needs, like tougher border security and a crackdown on the government. I do not agree with tariffs to Canada, especially them. They have always stood side by side with us. The American taxpayers will pay the tariffs. Globalization is to limit our opportunities. Trump needs to think it through.

Spot on. I left Canada because of all these issues. Any of my friends who are still there simply don’t understand that there’s a long term problem that has nothing to do with US tariffs. The country is weak, poorer than it needs to be, and not in a good spot due to focusing so much on real estate and immigration.

I am from Germany and I stand with Canada, Mexico, the Ukraine and with all US American citizens who are not supporting Trump.

The US has started an unsanctioned trade war against Canada. How is this different than what Russia is doing to Ukraine? The US needs to have sanctions slapped on them by the rest of the world like has been done to Russia.

US and canada was almost borderless until now.

What Trump is doing is collecting money from these tariffs, while at the same time bringing certain industries back to the United States. These tariffs will not be permanent but will remain for a certain period to encourage companies to relocate. He runs his country like a business, he doesn’t care if there are job losses elsewhere.\n\nCanada and Mexico will have to adjust and start becoming less dependent on the United States. It will be difficult for Canada because we are a consumer country, we manufacture almost nothing. TSMC is moving to the U.S., his plan is working, and other companies will follow.\n\nHere in Canada, we import a huge amount of American products. I, an American living abroad will not be traveling to the US for the next 4 years. Instead, I will take my all my trips to Canada and support their economy with my tourist dollars. I will buy Canadian made products as much as I can when I shop in my stores in Europe.
