my Sincere apologies from me an America. I have such respect for Canada and have so many friends who come to Phoenix and AZ and such wonderful loyal Canadand?❤️❤️

I have always been a proud American citizen. My paternal side of my family has been traced back to the Mayflower and I have ancestors and family that have served in the Revolutionary War, the American Civil War, WWl, WWll, Vietnam, the Gulf, and Afghanistan. This country has made many mistakes and has had much shame throughout its existence for various things but this is the first time and U.S. president has turned his back on our friends and allies in favor of an evil authoritarian leader named Vladimir Putin who strokes his massive ego and gives him elusions of power and respect from Putin when in reality Putin is playing Trump like a fiddle. The New York Times was not right. Donald Trump is not a bright guy. I stand strongly with my friends in Canada ??.

I’m just so sad and that the current american administration is trying so hard to make us hate each other! \n\nWhen things get bad, in a couple of weeks or months for both of us. Trump and his media Will absolutely blame Canada, not just for trying to defend itself, but for all of it. He Will try to make americans hate us so much so he can get something out of it and thats so wrong.\n\nI have so many memories of traveling to the US and meeting great people there. I don’t want it to end and I want to remember that most americans are our friends, good people who don’t wish harm to others.\n\nI really Hope reason and good people Will prevail, I Hope je won’t bête allowed to continue down this path for long, I Hope the congress or anyone will stand up for whats right. I voted for Trump and a lot of his policies and actions I agree with, THIS one I do not, Canada did not let in NEARLY as many illegal immigrants as Mexico so it makes no sense why he is punishing them, and he isn't, he just doesn't like Trudeau probably because he was friends or friendly with Biden, same with Zelensky AND Canada wanted to ban products from red states for electing him which is frankly just a stupid policy. \nThis is not hard to figure out, Trump doesn't like Trudeau and Ford, plain and simple......it really is THAT shallow, he is trolling Trudeau by calling them the 51st state and anyone know knows Trump and how he thinks knows that.

The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.

Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I know from much-welcomed temp Mexican construction workers in BC (where I live) that they view Canadians completely differently from our mutual US neighbours—and now that affection is growing like never before. \n\nI’m continually amazed at how uninformed Americans are about tariffs—and misinformed by tRump and his goofy, preposterous, and ridiculous fantasy of world-domination. When tRump uses the lame excuse to implement emergency powers —that Canada is “allowing” (as Vance puts it) fentanyl to “pour into the USA”—it’s tantamount to saying Ukraine started the war with Russia. The man is a tendentious liar and narcissistic megalomaniac. \n\nI have faith that the great nation of the USA will reject tRump’s crazy policies—we all just have to hang on and let the needless suffering for both our nations (and the world with regard strategic alliances) play out until he either relents, is swamped in legal repercussions, is impeached, or otherwise removed from office!\n\nGood luck my American and Ukrainian friends!

I’m an American and I did Not vote for Trump. I knew he would destroy our country if he was elected. Many people are angry in America that Trump has launched this trade war with our Canadian friends. We love our neighbors. Many Americans do not want this. We are not happy with how things are changing for the worst in our country and in other countries. We are being ruled by an insane, thug/criminal and bully and his rich, puppet buddies. Diplomacy is not in their vocabularies. This is so sad. Stay strong Canada??

Prime Minister Trudeau, you are a true leader. I lived in Canada many years ago and have friends there. I am so sorry about what my government is doing to Canadians. Please know this government does not represent all of us Americans.

As a 60 years old french Canadian I have all the reason to not love Trudeau, because he remind me how his father treated us, never vote for him, but today I saw a men (finally) standing up and take the lead for our country. I am a home owner in Canada. Many of my friends can't afford homes in suburbs or remote locations and they are earning more than average folks do.

Canada has many problems and disadvantages which will need to be determinedly addressed in the coming years. However, we have one key advantage over our friends to the south, and one I hope that over time this will increasingly bear fruit: we are not governed by a fascist-adjacent government. Our only political party with policies resembling the American Republicans is polling in the low single digits.\n\nSetting aside the question of whether American Republicans are 'fascist-adjacent', the truth is that much of the world perceives it as such. Our economy is so tied to the US that I would not wish them ill, or at least not very much. However, I think in the competition for talent American politics will be like a 'mark of Cane' on that country for a generation. My father was an American, I would never move to the USA . I used to enjoy to visit. However I find today that it is too dangerous. tyler i don't think u realize how bad the usa education system really is. i'm canadian but have lost count of the number of usa teachers who have complained about how bad they are held back from teaching kids properly, how kids can't be failed or held back, how kids graduating gr 12 can't read or write past gr 6 level. in fact recently there was a statistic put out that something like 60% of ALL americans cant read or write past gr 6. considering all your universities that is terrifying. not to mention with gun violence, straight up violence among kids and at teachers, the disrespect and the severe lack of good parenting, kids are not being educated at all. u yourself have done videos on where someone interviews americans and asked them questions about canada and they haven't got a clue. not one clue. yet canadian kids are regularly taught all about their american neighbours. are kids know more about america then american kids do and thats shameful. u need to do some research on this because unless u live in a rich gated elite community and go to private school the public education system in the usa is very dismal and woefully inadequate. \nalso he's right about politics. here we can discuss it rationally and then move on to other topics. in the states ppl are shooting ppl over differences in politics. beating ppl up trashing their cars and property etc. and many police are definitely not presenting themselves with professionalism tons of racism going on. and so many police because everyone is armed. here in canada we are not allowed handguns and pretty much ppl only have hunting rifles. it takes a lot of work and clearance not to mention time and money to take the necessary classes and get the necessary permits to even own a hunting rifle. in the usa show a drivers license and wait 10 days u have a handgun no matter how mental u are. therefore u need way more police than here in canada. i think u have a well to do upbringing so u have not and do not see the true picture of the america u live in. \nalso i have talked to many american friends who had insurance and still cost them about $5000 per birth of a child. with good insurance and working full time. so thats about average. here in canada u pay nothing except maybe parking for hubby while he visits.

These students can't complain about the student fee, Housing , food and living cost .\n\nU can blame trudue for lowering the standards for student visa. \n\nTo my knowledge from friends i know as students durring high-school vs students coming to study at college. \n\nPrior to this issue these a few mandatory requirements \n\n- parents most make over 200 k usd , and assets .\n\n- you must have xxx amount in usd dollars equivalent in your bank account and open a HSBC bank account with xxx amount \n\n - u must show you can afford for your child to stay at a mandatory homestay , all the associated cost staying and studying in canada for min 3 years \n\nJust passing the first 3 requirements, most ppl get rejected. \n\n- most leave the home stay due to culture differences and end up renting a 1 bed room condo. \nThat alone back in harper days was 20 k a year.\n\nMind you these students i met are from Vietnam, a 3rd world country where a university graduate with 2 degree will make only $500 usd which is consider a very good job . Its equivalent to5 k / month . \n\nSo thier dollar isn't worth much , for their parents to have that much money to send a 15 year old to study hs in a foreign country is a luxury only a selected few can dream of\n\nAlso none of them worked and work permit wasn't allowed. Even they were allow why would u when ur parents give u their debit card ~ visa card with allowance of 2- 3k to spend .\n\nInwould say 25% of these rich students go home within a year as they get home sick.\n\nToday standards\n\n- not many come as high school students as it's alot harder and still up hold strict standards as their still a minor. \n\n- college is easier route\nOnly have to prove u can afford the 1st. Year of study \n- a place to live\n- your parents can support you while ur here \n\nSo some one in India is faking the documents so they can come over strictly to work and pay for school and living cost. \n\nThis is why we have this problem. Indiana are very difficult nation to respect the rules and laws in the housing sector to during to jobs - and education. They don't want to learn the foreign rule except just want to make money by ignoring all rules. \nI rule said to allow the apartment to be sized and rules to all nations 2 people the indians will bring the same apartment 10-15 person minimum, damages within a days weeks, non-respect the rules they agreed to respect. \nWhen landlords are the same rules as all others indians think it's only for them, and cleanliness maintenance is the main issue. Before indians rented the buildings front, corridors, and inside all was super clean as soon Indians rented the apartment all the bags full of garbage, compost, dresses, and shoe food all in front and everywhere. The apartment and building itself are not livable and others are complaining threatening the landlord to quiet the building. For Indians tennats many landlords lost. their good respectable tenant, None want to stay with them, It's not about color or language its about cleanness and noise sharing s with many and inviting all friends which is allowed only in India, not other developed countries or Canada. U.S. If they can't respect the rules of law in Canada they should not come. Canad landlords will not allow 11/2 or 21/2 apartments with 10-15 peoples, who breaks all inside out crowd noise, deny damages, and blame Landlords.

Lived in Arizona for 3 years and was ecstatic to move back to Vancouver BC Canada. WE ARE CANADIAN ?? and we are seriously pissed off at the arrogance of DJT suggesting we should be a state.The cultural diffrences are too extreme upon return friends asked how it was and I'd reply the problem with living in U.S. is that there are far too many Americans there.

I am living in USA and I totally agree with you. Though I am not from India . But I have seen many of my Indian friends struggling in the USA and Canada. My advice to all of the Subcontinent ,stay in your country .if you have money, invest in your own country rather than to put yourself in jeopardy.

At this point - Feb 2025- a lot of condos have been built in Toronto and guess what, nobody is buying!! The economy dipped with the pandemic as it happened in many other countries! When I immigrated to Canada - and I had nothing then, it was impossible to even think of buying a house, under a Conservative government. About 10 years later I was able to purchase my first home and am doing well, thank you. So are the builders in this beautiful province, close friends with the premier. I've been to the states many times! My opinion is that Americans focus on wallets more than social issues! Americans care more about their own circumstances than working together to help the whole of the population. No one likes to pay more taxes but they are a nessesary evil to be able to pay for health care, public security, and so on! So sure Americans don't pay as much for some things but pay more for things that they shouldn't pay! Health care is something that is very important, how can you be expected to pay for health services if you can't work cause you're ill, doesn't make any sence! Even Americans leave thier country because of what it's becoming! 50- 100 years ago everyone wanted to immigrate to America or Canada, now a days everyone is immigrating here to Canada. Should I have to explain why! It's sad but the U.S.A isn't what it used to be. Mostly because of corporate greed and the influence it has on the gouvernment! Just look at how Trump is running things. A lot of Indians treat white people really badly. Especially when there is money involved. It’s now extremely common that people here hate dealing with Indians as customers of their business and will go as far as avoid it altogether. They will often relentlessly try to negotiate services, lie and say anything to get get their way, pester businesses until they cave to their demands and even leave bad reviews which they say they will change if you give them a good deal. None of this is the way things are done in Canada and that needs to be respected. Something kind of funny, I’ve heard many people say that Indians will often say they will refer tons of friends and family to a business if you give them an unreasonable discount (which they never do once they’ve gotten what they want), but what they don’t realize is that referring a bunch more Indians to them is the last thing that business wants. And really, some of the discounts they want on things are just ridiculous. When I was selling my car a few years ago, I had it listed for $55,000 and I got bombarded by Indians offering $20,000-$25,000 and every lie under the sun of why that’s all it was worth, other people are saying yes to offers like that for the same car, dealerships are selling them for that much and so on. Like come on. And I guess while I’m at it, I hate to say but it’s a common thing here to walk into a gas station and the smell of body odour just hits you like a brick. I’ve stopped going to 3 different stations because of it. I’m sure there’s some pungent white people out there but damn. This is on a whole other level. It literally fills the entire building.

Idk i think you need to realize that we also have our bias in addition to you having yours. Meaning, to most of us , excepting the most left leaning socially progressive pockets and contexts , which even then wouldn’t be viewed that way to us just acceptable lol ?\n\nOur baseline/political middle in Canada is A LOT more left leaning than the baseline normal/political middle in the states. So while people tend to equate your democrats to our liberals or our NDP , and equate your republicans to our conservatives. It’s just not accurate. If you throw our span of parties and American span of parties on the SAME spectrum /polarity line. You might be surprised to realize how shifted left our systems range politically is from the American one. \n\nThis hugely impacts the average normal expectation , what we clutch our pearls at hearing coming out of the mouths of the general public , and our range of what we expect to not hear or see ranted about unless they’re to our view , extremely right leaning politically /social values. \n\nFor us this means that actually genuinely , a lot of America does get experiences by us as bat shit crazy racist homophobic immigrant intolerant culturally and religiously ignorant , and somewhat backwards in larger or smaller amounts ? I know that’s not fun to hear but. Being the most diverse country based so much on immigration means. What is normal and known /familiar and normal so we aren’t ignorant to , is completely different. \n\nFor us we have our pockets usually in more rural less populated areas further away from larger cities where there is more diversity but that’s the same often in many countries that you will find some of the louder racist homophobic intolerant voices typically in places that truly are unfamiliar and ignorant to the experience of growing up with and around much of any diversity of varying kinds. So it’s not to say we don’t have racism and intolerance of course like anywhere we do. It’s just contained and the range and frequency and intensity is MUCH different. We distinguish nuances of diff cultures and religions more easily and in larger numbers we’re more familiar with diff ways of life , language , food, dress , holidays , values and used to a much less segregated way of existing even when we are differnt from each other as the NORM. My parents were both born in the states and my older brother was born there but they moved up here when he was a baby. So nearly all my extended family lives down there and I’m a duelly. And my experiences discussing things with my cousins or visiting absolutely could be described as culture shock at times. The insane things that came out of my own cousins mouths when they hear our friends or partners of various cultures , our not understanding how big a deal and incredibly insulting apparently it is to have assumed someone American was lgbt lol the list goes on. Like I don’t think our most intolerant Pockets can hold a flame to even ur closet to middle a bit intolerant places and contexts in America. Quite honestly. \n\nI think the absolute undying favourable passionate upholding and support of nationalistic, capitalist, hyper individualistic mentality about society as a whole (from my Canadian born and bred perspective lol) makes the differences even more glaring blaring and hard to swallow for us lol. I think more Canadians would feel exactly how that comment stated , that you felt was not fair for us to experience America as. I think the truth is a lot of Canadians are being too polite to let you know that’s exactly how a lot of America comes off to a lot of Canada ?

honestly canada is a mess and i love all my immigrant friends but we just have way too many people in this country. No one can afford a house or groceries . A lot of people can’t even find jobs.
