I live by the Canadian border. It is NOT easy to cross. Trump is lying and just trying to make himself look good even knowing tht Canada is willing to be a partner in combating illegal drugs. He wanted to get his court problems etc off his table. He had to get elected. And ELON helped that. Without Elon the shadow president he wouldn't have. Hell Elon had to pay people to vote for him.

To all Canadian's, I did not vote for him and tried to convince others of how bad his was, but here we are. I love Canada. I have been to Canada several times and the people have been so warm and welcoming. It is beyond sad to see this happening. As a Minnesotan, I feel as if I’m almost as Canadian as American and proud to say so. Thank you emphasizing the role of municipalities in this. Unlike other jurisdictions, in Canada municipalities are responsible for all transport infrastructure and utility infrastructure with the exception of major provincial highways, airports, and electricity and gas distribution systems. Meanwhile, Canadian municipalities can only levy property taxes and no income or sales taxes. Thus, Canadian municipalities governments are very attached to property owners, leading to the political conditions that make housing harder to build and new housing more expensive. The vast majority of the policies restricting housing supply and increasing costs of new housing, like development charges on new homes to fund infrastructure instead of taxing existing property owners, onerous and restrictive zoning regulations, and slow and expensive permitting processes all come from the cities. Honestly, for many city politicians it is to their advantage to make the crisis worse. Why wouldn’t a city councillor vote to raise development charges on building new homes instead of raising property taxes on existing homes to pay for stuff like replacing life expired sewer and road and subway infrastructure!? His constituents aren’t going to care about the costs of new homes, which affect people moving to the city or younger generations, which are either not yet residents of the city or too young to vote.

His only mistake was not to talk to his Canadian in the same way about the external diplomatic journey. Most Canadians voted him out because most Canadians have little to no idea how it is arround the globe, missing an overall perspective in their critic to Trudeau. Let me tell you that a lot of people changed their minds looking at his reaction to external threath posed by newly elect Trump. I allways knew Trump was bad news but never did I see a country turn it's administrative logistic into a pure representation of the cult Donald made into place. I hope my fellow friendly american get loud enought to be herd from their respective administrative leaders in your political system. Be critical, this is not what the USA is sopposed to be about.

I haven't enjoyed much of Trudeau's office, but this he owns. He really laid it down here. It made me proud to be Canadian. He absolutely, kicked ass and I hope he just hammers Trump. Trudeau's level of forthrightness and honesty in this situation is (I think) exactly why people voted for him. It makes me feel like he's going to kick Trump's ass.

Mr. Trudeau, As an American who has never voted for Trump, I apologize for the person we currently have in the White House, and wish Canada and Mexico the best. Do what you have to do, and hopefully it will cause enough disruption that Trump will have to retreat. Most of us consider Canadians and Mexicans our friends. A lot of people in the US are contacting our representatives in Congress, participating in economic boycotts, and joining groups like the ACLU that are bringing lawsuits against some of the actions that have already occurred. I heard a person on the Jake Tapper, C NN, this afternoon say all the companies are coming to the USA not Canada, he didn't mention that they come because they don't have to pay a lot of taxes. Canadian here. Wake up Canadians. Many people are praising Trudeau for this speech. Don't. He is out as Liberal leader within the week. He doesn't have to follow through on anything he said. Plus, he just stated that he's smart enough to suggest that Trump just put a 25% tax on Canadian goods for Americans but he also thinks that you are dumb enough not to realize that he just put a 25% tax on Canadians for American goods. Trudeau basically created the situation for these tariffs (open border to let anyone come here). He loves this as he gets to take the apparent moral high ground for the first time in his life and wants this speech to be the way he is remembered rather than years of failing Canada. I'm doing ongoing research to cease any spend on any US product or service. I'm buying software from Europe, using Posteo for email, deGoogling this year and vastly reducing Youtube. I trace all groceries to eliminate anything US sourced and I now check that products are Mexican and Canadian as much as I'm able and they are supplying. I've stopped planning trips to LA and NYC, I might resume if American voters ever have the good sense to vote en masse against obviously fascist plans and personalities. I've holidayed in Mexico three times and would visit Canada and Europe in future. US is not safe for everyone any longer, not even its citizens and looks to be getting increasingly insecure and offering prosperity only to the already mega rich through crooked policies and agencies. Every week or two I double check the facts on groceries and online products/services to make sure I'm not accidentally buying American. The election was so compromised in November I'm glad people are realising the only action we can take is with our wallets from not logging in to 'big tech' to buying bread and apples etc.

I’m am Ukrainian Canadian and over the last few days I see how the new US government’s policy ruining everything we all believe in so dearly: democracy, friendship, helping shoulder to those who needs support against the bloody dictators, and firing thousands of people without cause who provided cybersecurity, guarded fairness of your elections… all being flashed down the toilet. And I watch it being replaced with bulling those who is bleeding, stabbing the friends and neighbors, singing praise to the war criminals charged for crimes against humanity with unlawful deportation and transfer of 20,000 Ukrainian children into russia. Children?! And I want to ask you a question: will you be a silent bystander watching the world plummet into the hatred, redivisions of borders and the rule of heartless convicted “deal makers”? I think I know who he made the deal with... And to those who voted for him: do you still believe this will lead you and your country to greatness?? One single fact that both Moscow and Beijing celebrate watching what’s happening should raise your eyebrows and question your decision to bring this man into power. As a US citizen who didn't vote for the president (Trump) we have who is corrupt, self- serving and would have gone to prison if he had not been voted as president. 1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. I just feel the need to apologize to Canadians. What Trudeau said was correct - we've always enjoyed amicable relations between our two countries. Some of my best friends are Canadians. The Orange Man does not speak for us. 77 million people voted for him - roughly 1/5th of our country. Do not assume the Orange idiot speaks for all of us.
