I lived in Canada for 11 years, 2008 - 2019, went to university and worked in Toronto. I come from an upper-middle class family in China, went to a top university in Canada, landed good jobs and I speak English like a native. I got my PR in 2015 and I remember the painful uphill battle I had to go through just get that. All the bureaucracy, redtape, unnecessarily rigid rules, high cost and long wait I received from CIC/IRCC felt like a humiliation to me. Every document was scrutinized and every step had obstacle that fealt unreasonable (my TOEFL examiner ask me why I had to do the language test required by CIC, and I had to visit a notary to validate my Chinese national ID card). It felt uneasy but I understood that these were the rules that everyone had to go through, and moving and integrating into a new society was never meant to be easy. I went back to Canada in 2021 and 2024, and it was evident that the country I once called home had gone down the hill. The streets were screaming crime, unemployment, inflation, drug and filth, it's total social rot. As someone who went through the whole immigration process (and many of my friends who went through the same have left Canada for good, like myself), I attribute much of this to failed immigration policy. I cannot help but feel confused, angry, betrayed and humiliated when I look at the recent immigration policies of Canada and their results, and compare with what I had to go through. The feeling sums up to: Canada penalizes the hard-working and law-abiding people, and rewards the undeserved and the cheaters. Example: when the US creates wars in the Middle East, why does CANADA bear the cost of bringing in refugees? I never regretted moving back to China and East Asia, and I feel bad for those who still truly think of Canada as home, as I am one myself. When the leadership of a country deviates from pragmatism, reason and common sense, and instead embraces idealogies, hypocrisy and political optics, this is what happens. The prices are paid by everyone, immigrant or not. For this, Trudeau deserves a court trial for his incompetence and dereliction of duty; and the people of Canada need some honest and serious retrospection. I will share some words of wisdom by the late Lee Kwan Yew: “Whoever governs Singapore (LKY was the PM and founding father of Singapore) must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards, this is your life and mine. I've spent a whole lifetime building this and as long as I'm in charge, nobody is going to knock it down.” I hope the clownish weakling politicians in Canada (and, in much of the western world nowadays) can be enlightened a little bit.

Employers should be aware of SINs before hiring people. I am also an immigrant, but my dad worked hard as a skilled worker to bring us here to Canada. I pay my duly taxes monthly and yearly. So I find it unfair when people work under the table. However, I've noticed that some students, who never attend their classes, end up in high positions with well-paying jobs at big companies. Meanwhile, I can't count how many refugees and immigrants are in low-income brackets, receiving 100% coverage for their medication and a monthly allowance from the government. In contrast, Canadian senior citizens still have to pay 20-30% of their medication costs and don't get the same privileges when it comes to their essentials. It frustrates me that the government makes our senior citizens suffer at retirement age, even after they've worked so hard for so many years. Yet they still struggle to pay for their own medication and necessities. I've encountered many rude refugees and people on income support from other countries who feel entitled to special treatment just because they are under government programs. Ironically, some of them come wearing luxury clothes and bags—like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. As I said, I am an immigrant too, but my heart goes out to those who have fully earned the support and benefits they deserve.

It's true though. I couldn't get a job for over two years, I applied EVERYWHERE, they would say they're not hiring, then a week later I'll see a new worker or two being trained and guess what? they're indian/punjab (sorry, unsure all the proper terms of people or the differences). Not to mention that they treat indigenous women the way they would back home.... Pretty much every person I know (I'm indigenous and have experienced it myself) has experienced some sort of harassment or assault or whateva with them... And yes, I know it's not all of them, I also know some great people that are indian/punjab but I'm not going to act like there isn't a problem....... Then people think indigenous people get "hand outs"... I was broke for over two years, I tried welfare, it's not as easy as it seems to people lol Also, I'm sure I'm wrong, but I always assumed Immigration was like... reserved for people that need it kind of like refugees.

I grew up with integration that I LOVED, met people from all over the world. I've been working since I was 14 I've worked for people from all over the world , rented from different people since I was 18 and learned great things I can add to my construction or cooking repertoire that you could possibly couldn't learn in the West without diversity. BUT now we have a group of people coming here buying up businesses while only hiring people from their country buying up single homes putting up crammy 8 plexus, and only renting to people from their home country. I'm a concrete worker they do not let these walls set properly, they don't seal the windows and doors properly, everything's going to leak but because they only rent to people from their home country after 3 years they can take their name off the property and nobody and I mean nobody is going to report leaks because they have a tyrannical control over who they rent to.... I’m a Canadian Jamaican and I don’t recognize the country. The people coming in lately are hostile to the place they seek support from. It’s ridiculous and bazaar. I’m seeing so many places for rent stipulating that they outright prefer or are seeking Indian. I’m not white but I’m tempted to post an ad for place to rent and say it’s for for white tenants just to behold what happens. I mean we have never witnessed such conduct in Canada until these #&? ckers popped up. Even the prior immigrants are stunned. I’ve been working since 78 and now a senior but when I try to get help for housing I’m offered a night only shelter with mental and drug abusers to go try sleep in or the sidewalk or countless apologies. If I could put apologies in the bank, I would be rich While the former Marriott 2minutes up the street is home to all kinds of refugees. Don’t get injured, get any older or anything like that and unable to work in this country now as you’re much better off passing away.

Why not make it affordable for Canadian women to have more than 1 child? Why bring Muslim women who don't work or pay taxes while paying them $700 plus per child, to have several children and $1950 per adult...so a refugee family with 3 children gets $6000 to live on not even working...when 2 working Canadians often don't earn that each working full time and have to pay taxes and child care for each child they have.

I don't hate the immigrants themselves, but the way our country handles immigration. I'll be the first to admit it's getting harder to keep those two things separate. What compounds that hate is since I've been looking at moving out of this country... it's disheartening that most countries (rightfully so) make you have to be able to both assimilate and afford to fend for yourself to get a immigrants visa. My neighbourhood is primarily made of immigrants. I see a lot of elderly people brought to Canada by their adult kids. I see a huge number of single swarthy complexioned looking single males. Males who sit in malls, stand at streetcorners, wander and sleep in our parks. I no longer feel safe walking my dog. I am told to take my fnnn dog off the road. It's their road. Like he!!. My family came here as immigrants, paid their own way, bought real estate and never ever asked anyone for help. We even had to pay for our own healthcare before the NDP eventually intoduced national healthcare. And don't kid yourself, the refugee you find to get freebees off the Canadian taxpayers are not always poor. They keep their investments in Swiss, German, UK and US banks. I’ve lived in Canada for 30 years, but I became unemployed in 2021. This is the first time I’ve been out of work for more than a year and a half. I’ve applied online for over 20 jobs, but unfortunately I haven’t received any responses. This has never happened to me before. When I first came to Canada, it felt very safe—you could even leave your door unlocked at night. Things have changed a lot since then. Nowadays, there are many new immigrants and refugees, which has also changed the job market. I’ve noticed that many companies prefer hiring workers with student visas, because the government subsidizes part of their wages. That makes it more cost-effective for companies compared to hiring Canadian workers. I heard this directly from my former manager. As a result, some of my old colleagues now only get one or two days of work per week, while companies continue bringing in new employees.

Most of the immigrants landing here in Canada are not boosting our economy but just becoming a liability taking the country backward rather than progress. Tye government should stop immigration including refugees, at least for a while. Not that I don’t want to help these people but we just dont have the resources for now to accommodate them. ‘m shocked to hear that 817,000 people landed in Canada.
