I am an American, I support Canada and Ukraine, not Vladimir Putin and Russia. Thank you, Prime Minister Trudeau! I'm sorry to say we have a wannabe dictator as president, I will never understand how he was ever voted in as president, he is not my president.

I'm not a fan of Justin Trudeau by any means, HOWEVER... Hearing his speech just now filled me with pride to be Canadian and standing up to the new autocratic fascist government of our southern neighbour. I've watched over the last +/- 40 days the UnUnited States of America devolve into Russia's lap dog, with Putin's excrement on Orange Man's face on a near daily basis. I hope that whatever good people left down there can rise up and take back their country ASAP, otherwise the entire world will suffer the catastrophic consequences!

If Trump was a Russian asset, this is exactly what they would want him to do. Destroying NATO, dismantling the US government, taking our defensive capabilities like Cyber team stop focusing on Russia, and finally cratering the US economy is EXACTLY what Russia wants. If MAGA can't see this, you are blind and deaf to reality. I can't believe I'm watching this happen!

Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. And there’s a federal election approaching when all partisans will be one-upping each other in the patriotism department—which manifests in more boycotts of US goods and hospitality services.\n\n Americans should know that the unofficial boycott is more harmful to US exporters than the official targeted countervails because it features immediate and longterm diminishment of Canadian purchases of US goods—all retailers know it’s very hard to recover lost customers once they’ve found alternatives (and the added patriotic effect only makes it worse). Included is diminishment of Canadian visits to the USA. Indeed, the internet is replete with testimonies of Canadian”snow birds” not only forgoing their annual sojourn in the Florida or Arizona sunshine but also of selling their properties there with the parting shot, “I will never vacation in the US again!” Already Mexico has seen its visits from Canadians (who have had a modest presence in Mexico for years) surge to unprecedented levels. I know from much-welcomed temp Mexican construction workers in BC (where I live) that they view Canadians completely differently from our mutual US neighbours—and now that affection is growing like never before. \n\nI’m continually amazed at how uninformed Americans are about tariffs—and misinformed by tRump and his goofy, preposterous, and ridiculous fantasy of world-domination. When tRump uses the lame excuse to implement emergency powers —that Canada is “allowing” (as Vance puts it) fentanyl to “pour into the USA”—it’s tantamount to saying Ukraine started the war with Russia. The man is a tendentious liar and narcissistic megalomaniac. \n\nI have faith that the great nation of the USA will reject tRump’s crazy policies—we all just have to hang on and let the needless suffering for both our nations (and the world with regard strategic alliances) play out until he either relents, is swamped in legal repercussions, is impeached, or otherwise removed from office!\n\nGood luck my American and Ukrainian friends!

We are all living in strange times! The bad guy (Putin) is defended like he’s the good guy and the victim (Zelensky) is criticized like he’s the aggressor. Nevertheless, things are upside down! USA voting at the UN with North Korea and Putin and Belarus and against the EU and UK and NATO alliance nations … against the victim Ukraine? This is unheard of! Yet this is so ironic because Leonid Brezhnev, who was the USSR leader, when Russia invaded the sovereign nation of Afghanistan, and Vladimir Putin was a young KGB agent at that time, working for Brezhnev, is now in his position as leader, and he invaded Brezhnev’s sovereign homeland of Ukraine. Brezhnev must be weeping from hell and regretting his invasion of Afghanistan! Crying from hell, seeing his servant, Putin, in his seat of authority, and invading his homeland like he did to Afghanistan, I’m sure Brezhnev regrets but it’s too late now. He’s burning in hell and he can’t get out of hell! \n\nThe bad deal that Clinton and Yeltson and John Major dealt to Ukraine in the 1990s when they moved all of her nuclear weapons to Russia was like declawing the Ukrainian cat and now the cat can’t defend herself against aggressors because she has no claws to defend herself from aggressive attackers!\n\nCanada and Mexico are our friends not our enemies! China and North Korea still idolize the USSR/CCCP flag and Soviet Union hammer and sickle. Putin is a thug and gangster like Joseph Stalin. Everyone forgot what happened to Alexander Litvinenko except for those like John Bolton. \n\nWe are all living in perilous times! The wrongdoer (Putin) is called good and the victim (Zelensky) is called bad! This is so negatively bizarre and wrong! Isaiah 5:20 warns against this! Putin is not pure evil but he’s definitely not a good guy! He’s a gangster and thug like Al Capone! I think President Trump is walking on a tight rope by trying to make a good deal with Putin. And that tight rope spans from one high rise building to another - the senate and house chambers of the US legislature. The midterms are coming soon and if President Trump loses the house and senate, that tight rope could snap! And all those shock and awe executive orders etc. could come back to haunt him like a boomerang thumping his head.\n\nNever in my wildest imagination would I ever imagine Canadians harboring bad feelings towards the USA! This is 180 degrees opposite of how things were when Ronald Reagan and Brian Mulroney were in the political arena!

I gotta say that I'm not a liberal nor have I been a particular fan of Justin Trudeau... but today (and for the last few weeks) I've been quite impressed by my Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. This Canadian supports a vast and vicious trade war against the United States. I do not have any hatred for the American people but I do have nothing but contempt for Trump and his band of traitorous scum! I wouldn't have dreamed that our closest friend and ally could be siding with an enemy proclaimed (Russia) against democratic nations. Trump represents an existential threat to democracy everywhere and must be put down by the American people like a rabid dog!

CNN correspondence never gives the more impactful concerns - in this case, the concern should be the fact that DT is attacking Canada, our friends, and Mexico, our friends - because he's a fkn traitor - and the US Constitution that says it's our American duty to stop people like him. The government and the common people must be overlooking these crimes and willing to give up their rights and freedoms. The original KGB and the long running Putin agenda is the slow game in his global conquest for power. You have to consider the geopolitics. If Mexico and Canada won't defend us (because they hate Trump) DT can/will sell out America to Russia, in turn Canada would be the closest place to conquer, then Mexico. It's stupid tho, unless the UN stands back and watches this happen too. Think I'm bullshittin, reading too far into things, but I'm not. Hi I'm from Russia and I would say that mostly people who lives in english speaking countries they usually can only tell about wealth privilegues of having particular passport, offical status of their country and that's it. for my personal opinion the motherland is something that is more than that. I didn't travel much somewhere but I've been abroad and I would say - nowhere is better than here in Russia for me. And those people who just moved there to foreign counties from Russia as example they pretend that it's much better for them in completely alien country. that's a bull shit as I guess because each people is like a spider who since it was given a birth is spreading out it's net in particular place (their parents, friends, first love, lovely places, and etc) and since they moved somewhere all this NET will be torn for a long time or forever and never restored anymore. and for my personal opinion immigration is BULL SHIT and I would do it in a completely disparate situation. And I see nothing common with english speakers in mentality, everything that you're interested in is a personal wealth and interest in everything. Russians in this way are much better.

Is America ruled by a dictator now? I'm American and I'm not sure . It seems like we are treating our neighbors like Russia treats its neighbors.

For a start I'm thinking of all that farmland in CA that will have water and a good reason to grow crops now because of Trump and the increase of jobs when we have to make our own stuff.\n However, I am in favor of letting Canada sell their goods in China or Russia since that is likely where all the fentanyl and illegal immigrants are coming from and I know 1% doesn't sound big when DW says it but with an estimated 15 million illegal immigrants in America from the Biden admin alone that would be 150,000 from Canada.

My wife came to America from Russia over 20 years ago.. It took her 3 1/2 years to get approval to come to America legally… she’s now an American citizen.. it’s people like her that are livid over this mess. Russia wants a regime change in Ukraine. A regime which is more friendly about Russian/Ukranian future relation. And yes also no NATO for Ukraine. This is what Russia is pushing for. I'm not sure which one of the directions would be good for Ukraine (in the long term)
