I don't understand what's going on in Trump's head, he likes Milei which is lowering tariffs but does just the opposite in the US... Lunatics are ruling our countries...

China has a lower tariff rate because both Trump and Musk have business contracts there and they are making sure they are not fully affected.

It makes sense to replace income tax with import tariffs. What does not make sense is to impose tariffs withoit lowering income tax.

Remember, Trump promised he would lower the cost of groceries. He also said he was going to impose tariffs on imported goods from other countries. You should know that tariffs will RAISE the cost of living not lower it. When Trump was asked about it by a reporter, he said tariff costs are passed along to consumers which may cause short term disruption. But then said he wasn’t concerned about disruption because we should understand. We can’t afford food and gas now. This POTUS has no brain!

PREDICTION: The rise of international tariffs will ultimately uncover a huge underbelly of unemployment ironically in the USA and create a wave of an unexpected underbelly of poverty unseen by America in many years. USA will suffer in the next 4 years due to tariff wars and causing its international allies work in new relationships with its unexpected competitors such as China. The EU will learn how to live without relying on the USA - as is the same with China and other countries. America will have to self-rely on itself - causing it to recycle its own money over and over again to try and create home-grown industries that will initially be very expensive to run. \n\nCompetitive countries will strike deals with American allies and form new relationships that the USA hadn't foreseen - and the era will illustrate an international 'Us' vs US mentality. Countries will turn their back on America, knowing they can work well together than rely on the USA. \n\nThe average US citizen will be receiving tax rise after tax rise, causing more poverty within states and due to the 'xenophobic tariff mentality' - will find the middle income earner slip down to a lower grade, and ripple this effect. Medical aid will only benefit the rich while everyone else will pay for minimum service but premium for medication. \n\nThe price of food and transport will quadruple over the next 4 years, not because of the natural progression of price rise, but immediately due to tariff wars. \n\nAmericans, ultimately pay for tariffs - bullying words of 50 percent tariffs on another country means a surge in prices for everyday goods Americans take for granted. The only winner is the Government - which means it chooses what to spend on. \n\nA recession will hit hard....AGAIN -- on the USA.

His plan to tariff every country is well underway. If anyone that voted for him thinks that any of this will translate into lowered prices for Americans,…which is why many voted for him,….they are in for a rude awakening.
2025-01-26 0
Wrong! It doesn’t cost Americans more when a tariff is placed. It forces the incoming product manufacturer to lower its costs so people will still buy, and if people still buy, the percentage of tariff will fund the us government vs our income taxes. If they don’t lower their costs, they risk people not buying which hurts their business and hurts the country they are in because they don’t make as much money to send taxes to their country’s government

High Tariffs mean my federal taxes will be lowered :)
2025-01-26 1
The only loosers are the American consumers that have to pay high prices on all the tariffs. People voted to lower cost and the opposite is happening. ?
2025-01-26 0
People don’t understand tariffs. It hurts the foreign country far more. It means American companies will not buy from them leading them to lower prices or not do business with America. which is catastrophic for them.

Someone please makes sense of this for me. I'm placing a tariff on Columbian goods because i couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone and work with my allies? I'm raising prices by 25% on OIL, COFFEE and PETROL which will raise prices for the very voters i promised on day 1 to lower their living costs.\nSomeone please make sense of these opposing contradictions please. Does anyone actually believe he's so stupid as to still not fully grasp and comprehend that a tariff is a DOMESTIC direct consumer tax and the exporting country doesn't pay a copper penny to the US treasury? \nTrump's policies are to remove cheap labour from the country, while raising prices on every product coming into the USA . This is the moronic insanity MAGA voted for and millions of Dems stayed at home to not vote against. What a monumental mess in a week. Encore.

I believe they can still sell avoiding tariff by paying some money under the table.. good luck hoping lower groceries price ?

Lower prices?! Of course that would be nice. Economically speaking, that means that a vast number of people want deflation. It could work in an economy not dependent on excess and consumerism, but the US economy is propped up on speculation and buying out of want rather than need. Deflation is considered an economic failure in this country. We target 2% inflation for fear that without it, people will buy less now and then there will be a downward correction on output and then jobs. \nIn any case, broad tariffs won’t be the answer to lower prices. A global economy is an efficient one, but often unfair or unkind in specific localities. The US has benefited from globalization and low cost labor elsewhere for decades. But the pendulum swung too far and now many Americans are feeling left behind. Tariffs could bring back jobs but on a 5 to 10 year timeline, not one 4-year presidential term, much less in a year.

Lower prices tax cuts getting illegal immigrants out and putting tariffs on imported goods really and look at what happened to the nation's deficit under his last time in office.
2024-11-28 0
How to lower cost of good if tariffs after tariff (responding tariff La from other countries) will cause higher prices?
2024-11-27 0
Trump will make America forget they wanted lower prices, yet tariffs are exactly the opposite of that. Used car salesman tactics.
2024-11-27 0
Most of this is just wash-and-repeat old news ... Trump needs hate against migrants as red meat for the base and to draw attention to his bottomless ego pit. Tariffs act as a regressive national sales tax ... that raise, not lower, prices .... DUH! Apparently this isn't new to the low-information Trump voter.

Trump said: “I’m going to make America great again by placing tariff on other countries. To lower the price in America, I’ll raise the price outside of America .”
2024-11-26 0
I’m confused on how higher tariffs will mean lower prices why don’t politicians explain that
2024-11-26 0
All these morons thought this idiot was going to lower prices of food, goods, and gas. Good luck with that. \nHis first day in office he is going to put huge tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico. \nThis in turn will make prices go UP considerably, Simple math Trump could never understand. \nOh, and wait until there is NO ONE to work the fields . Vegetables and fruit will be sky high. \nUnbelievably, this is what people voted for

Many of these Mexican suppliers are USA companies. The tariffs will be paid by Americans, to the American government on goods sold in America. It’s a tax increase, usually on lower income earners- as we know wealthy people won’t notice

They want increased tariff, lower price and voted Trump? Good luck!
2024-11-26 1
Dream world , want lower prices but Voted for the lunatic that will implement Tariffs which leads to increased prices

tariffs do not = lower prices sorry trumpers

Definition of Maquiladora: A maquiladora is a manufacturing operation or factory in Mexico, typically located near the U.S.-Mexico border, that assembles goods for export, primarily to the United States. These facilities take advantage of lower labor costs in Mexico and benefit from duty-free or reduced tariffs under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), now succeeded by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Companies often send raw materials or components to these factories, where they are assembled into finished products, which are then exported back to the U.S. or elsewhere.\n\nThe maquiladora program was established to boost employment, attract foreign investment, and promote economic development in Mexico, especially in border regions. (answer provided by Grok).

Coupled with the apparent tariffs that are in the pipeline it will be interesting to see what that might do to the prices of fresh fruit and vegetables. As the country would seemingly begin to lose the workforce that allows them to be artificially lower than might otherwise be the case as well as a shortage of those willing to undertake those jobs.

*What they want and what they'll actually get is two very different realities. Get ready for high soaring inflation because of the Tariffs and Labor shortages for the jobs that nobody'll want to do - picking vegetables, fruits, berries, +, and it won't matter what the price of gas(Which during his administration gas was down because not as many people were traveling like they were before Covid.) because not many will be able to afford much of anything else, which under President Biden inflation was falling and was going to be reduced even further and fuel prices were dropping - and money was coming into the Country from Arms Sales which helped lower inflation and taxes, now the next Countries will only have to build Arms that don't have to be as good as the Country's but just better than the Pariah Countries and they'll pick up the Sales that'll be dumped from the Country and jobs will be lost - leading to higher prices again and lower wages for many workers because many people will be unemployed and they'll be willing to take lower paid jobs which will lower overall wages and the quality of merchandise will drop - people really didn't think before putting that checkmark ✔️ - not to mention the ladies and their families that'll be effected some horrendously and chances are that eventually it'll effect the majority of families and then the divorce rates will rise and crimes will rise out of desperation - but the thing is - is that the criminals will be able to afford gas to travel around more to commit more crimes - - -,,,.*

Crazy this people lead our government! President is not king! Congress makes the laws! They are not illegal genius! The majority are in the asylum process, a legal process. They are not illegal until they have a deportation hearing! Stop and Frisk! So, how are 1000% percent tariffs, deporting all the immigrants that pick our products and massive government spending on a wall and deportation is gonna lower inflation, groceries and interest rates. No American is willing to pick fruits for pennies, if they demand 20 an hour, a pound of strawberries or fruit are gonna cost 30 bucks! Seems Trump and GOP had no policies just empty promises! Probably hopping democrats or courts to block the polices so they can say we tried. Like the big beautiful wall Mexico paid for! Wait! If Trump built a wall last time, why we need a new wall! Concepts of a wall like Obamacare! I hope Trump supporters are not on Obamacare care or Welfare- y’all will be forced to work the fields.

Kicking out the agriculture workforce, add tariffs and then expect that they can lower prices on groceries... Wow, the US is in deep shit.

I do not see Americans as friends to Canada. we have had a softwood lumber dispute for 30 years now. Canada has different laws which Americans will never accept. when it comes to trade, Americans are not Free Trade or Fair Trade but Trade domination to eliminate competition. Boeing cried about Bombardier and secured a 200% tariff, while the Canadian company has no products to compete against Boeing....\n\nCanada still suffers from tariffs on our steel and Aluminum. \n\nAmericans are only friendly if Canada submits.... the latest NAFTA agreement saw Canada accepting American milk.... dumping into Canada at the expense of our farmers. The USA has an over supply of milk and rather than adjusting production to meet demand America is using Canada as a dumping ground.\n\nAmerican companies have come to Canada and destroyed many Canadian companies, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco to name a few. these companies push very hard American products while ignoring Canadian suppliers. In no way would the US ever allow such a concentration of foreign businesses to take control of their economy. \n\nThe USA has been the only nation to violate Canadian Sovereignty.\n\nThousands of Canadians have died to protect the USA, but I can find no American who has died to protect Canada.\n\nCanada has fought in many American wars.\n\nCanada has supported the US during its many hurricanes.... I do not see Americans supporting Canada.\n\nIt must be noted that the USA has the largest military force in the world, yet they always ask for other nations to help them in wars. \n\nthe only nation to invoked Article 5 of NATO has been the USA... Canada responded and assisted America.\n\nThe USA is not a friend really, friends do not treat their partner with such disrespect. \n\nBut hey, Americans flood to Canada to buy lower cost medicines rather that fix their own systems.
