If you really seek asylum you'll be ready to do it legally. If you don't you'll face the consequences which should have always been applied. People panic because they think that it's now impossible to cross the borders but it's always been that way before the Trudeau/Biden debacle happened. If not doing so already why doesn't ICE have checkpoints where ALL buses and taxis are stopped and their passengers check for their immigrant status. People from south of the U.S. border now find it easier to fly to Canada and sneak across than try to cross from Mexico not to mention Indians (7 Eleven kind) and who knows\nhow many other ethnic groups. In Toronto Canada, they are people who specialized in crossing Mexican migrants across the border into the US from the Montreal side. Nothing new.

I would assume the increased legal consequences would skew the new illegal border crossings from migrants looking for work so they can raise their kids in a country with more economic oppurtunities to a higher percentage of criminals mixed in. I've had some completely institutionalized friends in Baltimore and can say that the bouncing in and out of prison/ have most exciting/chaotic situations/ brag to your friends while you pass the time locked up/ all around adrenaline rush is going to make that crowd see the conseqences as a nuicense and an exclusive challenge. Sort of the same reason that before consumer space travel, some people that grew up absurdly wealthy would do really foolish things to brag about, like climb MT Everest.

Would it not also be up to USA to stop people from crossing the boarder. I think the US should do a better job of protecting their borders.

This was always going to occur. Shut down the southern border and people will try to get in through the north. As I understand it, we don't have the same deportation laws with Canada as we do with Mexico. This needs to be dealt with and Canada needs to step up. I live in a norther border state and my younger brother died of fentanyl. I am fed up with it. I love Canada and remembering crossing the border without even a passport as a kid, but this is no longer acceptable.

The Roxham road crossing in Quebec isn't even manned. People just walk across back and forth. But Canada's illustrious leader is going to put billions into a new train, but not a penny into border protection. Then they cry the blues because of repercussions from Trump.

This very same thing of people flying-in then crossing the border was happening in Mexico during the four years of Joe Biden. How are the buses doing this? if Canadians travel on buses they have to stop at the border and show the authorities their passports. Matter of fact you have to show passport on any bus that is going to cross the border. I have seen people jerked right off a bus that did not qualify at the border. They come from a communist country and they are used to getting free everything.
