Not so sure the American dream is to break into the United States by sneaking over the border illegally and taking benefits in an unlimited way. How about congress starts taking a serious approach to creating an immigration policy codified in the form of a constitutional amendment that provides protections and benefits to the American citizens while simultaneously making the process more efficient and transparent. At the same time pass a law that requires the federal government and border states to cooperate and be funded to make the border airtight.

This is addressed mainly to the ugly Indian: My generation came to the racist west and built a golden reputation. We worked hard, assimilated, paid our taxes, and obeyed the laws. We were humble. We celebrated our native cultures within the confines of our communities. While it was frustrating to be invisible in white culture, we never sought to conquer them with our culture. We were ethical to the hilt. Our generations were poor -- yet we struggled to help others in India and in the west. We were NEVER on the dole. Personally I think it is rude to enter a nation (in the west or anywhere in the world) with naked opportunism. Speaking for myself -- despite neocolonialism, I admired western civilization, especially its older forms. \n \nBut the ugly Indian who comes now is loud, brash, socially irresponsible, exploitative, money-hungry, opportunistic, and arrogant beyond belief (full of the hubris that comes from sudden new wealth). They look down on us who have been here a while. They are used to a servant-culture and look down on white working class people, as if they are servants. As for second generation Indians in the west, they can be racist towards us first generations. But the opposite is true as well. Indian newcomers see them as an alien species. Indians do tend to hire their own and stick to their own identities -- I do not mean the Indian identity, but their native state identities. All this feeds into the primary and secondary forms of western racism that are already simmering beneath the surface. This new genre of Indians is destroying the goodwill we have built. I have personally witnessed arrogant young Indian students cutting the line to reach the front desk. No manners, no ethics. As a first generation Indian immigrant I get annoyed. So why shouldn't native born westerners (who are already racist)? \n \nBut to complain about how they smell is rude beyond belief. This must stop.

Indian immigrants don’t assimilate. That’s why they think it’s okay to take a shit on the beach. Indian hygiene standards are low. When you land in India, you are greeted with the smell of it. If you know, you know. It’s a stench that can’t be ignored. \n\nThey bring their mindset here and do not care to change. Why should they? They have formed communities here where they can all continue acting the same way they did in India. They don’t have to take accountability. \n\nMy parents immigrated here in the 80’s. They chose to come to Canada and maintain the standards of living here, not the ones from Bangladesh.\n\nIf you are an Indian immigrant, who recently immigrated here, I encourage you to question yourself before you decide that people are being racist towards you. Are you showering and wearing deodorant? Are you taking a shit in the street?

This is a great opportunity. For the new Immigrants and the Natives of Canada. To form allance to take back the land and rsourses. That was stolen from them by the British Empire over 200 years ago.

Bit misleading to suggest that Trump led Republicans in shooting down that bill like it was some form of sabotage. The key to addressing these issues isn’t for the government to simply 'deport' illegals; it’s to make life in the host country so dependent on legal status that it becomes nearly impossible for an illegal immigrant to prosper or live a normal life. What we see now is the opposite—some states don’t even require proof of legal residency to issue a driver’s license. When services like healthcare, education, and more are offered without any checks, why would anyone bother complying? A parallel society forms, where people learn to bypass hurdles with the help of others already entrenched in the system. The same applies to sending money back to their home countries.\n\nIf you impose harsh penalties—not just fines—on those who hire illegals, you’ll deter locals from exploiting their cheap labor. This would naturally lead to many illegals 'deporting' themselves in search of countries where they can blend in more easily. Furthermore, there’s a 'support system' that guides illegals on how to navigate life in the U.S. as undocumented residents, which should also be addressed. But instead, Democrats often seem to do everything possible to favor their presence, especially in certain cities.

I’m not a crazy Trumper when I say this, but IMO you all should put a retraction or correction. I come to TLDR for fair and unbaised news. But the confusing of “illegal immigration” and “immigration” misleads people to believe that Trump is against ALL forms of immigration, which no one believes.\n\nTLDR, if you don’t think it is misleading, then I think you all should work on communication. My main concerners are human decency and the chance that a legal immigrant will get caught up in the mix.\n\nFirstly, i am concerned we will return to the concentration camps of the 1900s and the people in them wont have adequate supplies and support ehile they wait to be deported.\n\nSecondly my concern is for those on a green card or other form of legal immigration getting caught up in the mix and not being let go. I guess this also includes children of people here illegally who were born in America.\n\nFinally i think we need to stop thinking of asylum seekers as illegal immigrants. If you have come here and submitted the proper paperwork to be here then you should be allowed to stay until your paperwork has been processed.

I noticed in comment section, a lot are pro illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants is crossing boundaries without permission, which is a form of trespassing. So, those who are pro illegal immigration are pro trespassing. Since your pro trespassing, no complaining about human violation. Since all form of human violation are a form of trespassing. ? So, how do you square your belief?

Then Elon Musk will have to go also. He was in the U.S. on a student visa. He did not enroll in school but instead spent that time working on starting up a company. He later lied about this on immigration forms when applying for citizenship.

I dont understand why America and Canada dont come up with some form of agreement where somehow harmonize immigration and close all of North America to anyone showing up at any border. Turn them around without questions asked.

Mexico #1 form of legal GDP is the money that legal and illegal immigrants send back to Mexico that money never returns to the USA economy. They also affect supply and demand. So things cost more because there is a higer demand with less supplies and thats simply based on population. I voted Blue , but things like this is why Democrats lose the election. The current government increased immigration to have them beholding to them and so they get votes. At the same time they are leaving people that were born here, homeless and living in tent while the immigrants are taking up the shelter spaces and the Canadian tax payers footing the bill for them to live in motels and Ontario housings. I can tell you that if the homeless people in our community were voting, this would never of happened and they would not be living in our parks, in tents. As for me, I would give my address for them to have an address to vote from. All homed Canadians should be doing this to help these people have a voice in the country that they were born in. VOTING IN POWER FOR THESE PEOPLE! Make no doubt the the large portion of our homeless community have mental health issues and our society (GOVERNMENT) is not helping them. I am Spanish and I am currently working and residing in Germany. And I can affirm that the same racism or discriminatory attitude that many complain about is also projected onto other immigrants. In my work there are Pakistanis who form groups among themselves and do not want to know anything about the rest, they are an example. I have also seen this attitude in some Turks, who show off their cars to each other and behave in really fearful attitudes and driving.\nSo far the Germans I have dealt with, whether at the bank, my landlady or even the one I bought the car I have from, have treated me very well. Another thing is that as an immigrant who arrived 9 months ago, unfortunately I have not made any German friends my age (20 - 30s).

Imagine how the Native Americans felt when they were invaded. History tends to repeat itself. I know things are different nowadays and yes they should go about it the legal way but if you think about it, what the Europeans did to the Native Americans is similar to what is happening to us now. People immigrate for better prospects . Fee centuries ago some Europeans immigrated to America and formed US. Native Americans considered Europeans as illegal immigrant.

90% of immigrants are fine people. Sadly, people who were born here (of all races) don't have doctors, can't afford rent, can't afford food, can't find jobs. The government needs to cut immigration for the time being, invest in infrastructure, and then re-open the doors when we can sustain ourselves as well as our newcomers. Again, sadly, South Asian immigrants are the most visible due to the number immigrating to Canada and because they are snatching up all the failing local businesses and opening Indian restaurants (this isn't judgement, newcomers should absolutely have the right to start a business and support themselves, but the optics of long term business closing down to sell butter chicken sets some people off when our country is failing our existing small business owners). It isn't the fault of immigrants, it's the fault of the people mismanaging our country. Then there is the 10% scamming, forming gangs, skirting laws, etc. Screw them.

Of you invite immigrants to fill a demographic hole that has been forming for 30 years you need to provide incentives to companies to build anywhere but Toronto. The government has neglected this and so now tens or hundreds (500) thousands of migrants have landed in and around Toronto because that is where the jobs are. It pisses me off that people are coming to Canada and have no respect at all for the place, the rules, the people, etc. you are not a fit. I can never wrap my head around why immigrants think returning home is a form of punishment.

In the past when immigration controls were stricter, the country attracted only highly educated individuals with decent backgrounds. While some less-educated people did manage to immigrate during that time, many of them were asylum seekers without much influence over the system. However, with the recent relaxation of immigration policies, a significant number of uneducated and less-educated immigrants have been migrating. This shift is contributing to certain issues, as these individuals often lack the language and job skills necessary to integrate into society independently. As a result, they tend to form concentrated communities, such as in Brampton. Additionally, various loopholes in the immigration system are making it easier for low-skilled immigrants to enter into the country. This is not a problem pertaining to Indians, there are others too, but they don't get focus due to their low numbers.

The whole university system is so obsolete and inefficient. Especially doctoral degree programs. We are literally dying because nobody wants to grind themselves into $200K debt. All to become a doctor who ends up spending most of their day filling out mountains of forms. The bureaucracy greed and corruption are destroying this country. Excellent! Canada must train First Nations people for these jobs so they can get a step on the ladder to success. Immigration consultants IN INDIA charge ridiculous amounts to help people from India complete very simple application forms. These consultants in India are really the slave traders who find cheap labour for predatory Canadian employers. Plus only a few immigrants from India ever succeed in Canada. Most are taxi drivers and restaurant workers.

Canada used to be good because it had a strong middle class. But over time, the rich got richer, and the poor got poorer. Corrupt oligarchs who control the government and idle youth that form gangs. People complain about race, religion, and immigration, on the one hand, and complain about acceptance of a woke agenda on the other. When what can really fix the country is true cooperation. Conflict and division are expensive and don't produce long-term profit. Cooperation does.

Another issue not mentioned here is the discrimination highly skilled professionals face when it comes career advancement.\nI know some very good professionals (different fields) that already left or are planning to leave Germany because they are tired to deliver more than 100% at work and always being overlooked for promotions or salary raises, while the native employees receive all these by doing the bare minimum. Or being offered jobs below one’s expertise and ending up doing the work for a native manager that qualifies mostly by nationality.\nAll this DE&I is all talk and targeted to a specific minority, while the other forms of discrimination are ignored and the majority of managed roles are filled by natives (who’s wok is done by not-good-enough immigrants).\nAt some point you get tired….\nYes, the public services work fairly good, but this country seems zombified….

One thing is that if you come to this country you adapt yourself to our values here and not try to put your culture on us. It's a Canadian tragedy that immigrants are homeless in Toronto and smaller communities are begging for an influx of people. There should be an incentive for immigrants to choose to bring their talents to rural Canada and form a new community away from their original homeland. This is how it was when my grandparents came to the prairies, a German community flourished.

It's genuinely exhausting to watch even so-called progressive outlets like the guardian foment fear and anger against migrants and refugees rather than someone, anyone, possibly questioning whether the incentives for property developers and landlords might, in-fact, be a potential factor in the ongoing housing crisis. But sure, it must be immigration to blame for the exact same housing crisis happening across Canada, Australia, the US, the UK and half of Europe, must be just that one simple factor and definitely not any other systemic or economic factors which might underlie how housing, governance, and migration are linked. \n\nBecause all of those countries certainly have one thing in common, and you're all correct, they all have identical immigration policies, right? Right? Couldn't be the hyper-commodification of housing and development rights stoked under the neo-liberal systems of governance which ACTUALLY forms a shared commonality between these countries. But that would be hard to think about, best just to blame the immigrants, makes life easy breezy. Can't see any problems down the line with that line of thought, right Britain? For over a decade now any attempt to criticize legitimate issues with immigration got you branded a racist by the establishment. Outlets like the Guardian have shilled for big corporations who only used immigration as a source of cheap labour. Now that we’re seeing the results in the form of skyrocketing rent and exhausted welfare services, they pretend not to know why people are upset.

It is not anti-immigration, it’s anti immigration system cheaters. In some visible minority communities, from CBSA, MPs, immigration consultants,financial institutions (in Canada and abroad), private colleges and private businesses have formed a illegal human trafficking network to smuggle migrants into Canada right under Federal Government eyes. Canada as a whole and Canadian citizens have not been benefited from it. Only people and businesses who are in this network have been profiteering from it. Someone takes bribes, political donations, foreign students related businesses preying on people who want to immigrate to Canada.

It's multifaceted. Liberals opened up the flood gates with policies making it very easy for people to immigrate to Canada and increased immigration numbers. It's no longer tied to what Canada can support based on services, resources, and housing. It's simply: Come on in. Second, I've watched a few videos on Youtube showing how immigration is almost a form of trafficking at this point. Immigration companies are making money hand over fist promising the moon to students and people who want a better life and when these poor people get here they end up in crowded lodging with horrible job prospects. A lot of this goes back to the government laxing immigration policies and not being firm on how much we can bring in. This tsunami of immigration has impacted health services, governmental services, and the lives of Canadians. We need to do this smart or not at all. It's frustrating and the frustration needs to be put where it's due, on government and policy but it's also impacting the people and community around us. :( It really isn't the Canada of 10 years ago.

Simple fact is that the new immigrants she is talking about are opportunists and complainers. I am an immigrant of 50 years. I had three jobs by the age of 15. My father, was a determined immigrant from UK who brought us here. He died from Mesothelioma - A rare form of lung cancer directly linked to asbestos exposure. He often worked weekends in the schools where he taught. When they asked him to remove the asbestos from the ceilings of the schools he was happy to help. He, along with similar European immigrants at that time built the infrastructure, hospitals and everything that attracts new immigrants.\n\n My advice to my fellow Canadians? You are only as Canadian as you feel, Canadian as you assert, Canadian as you are prepared to sacrifice. Given enough time, the fairweather folks, previously from Abu Dhabi, Dubai or some other haven will sour and move on. Either that or daddy's dime will run out and they will be called back to New Delhi.

Liberal mindset. Just do something without looking into cause and effect, silence any nay sayers by labeling them with some kind of hater title, proceed with plan. Plan fails terribly, don’t recognize the failure, continue with terrible plan until damage is irreversible. When questioned on policies or data on its effects, Liberals don’t even answer questions, they literally don’t answer the questions. Any people from around the world who want to know why Canadians are so displeased with their current government, please watch Trudeau parliament debates. It will make you wonder how this guy got voted in. Once the liberals realize their policies are failing, they change policies and blame opposition for their failures.\n\nIt’s interesting that the ideology of Liberals in Canada is supposed to be the middle ground for most people who agree with the left and the right political policies. Unfortunately they have gone so far left they make the NDP look central.\n\nImmigrants are always welcome in Canada and should be, but we do ourselves and new immigrants no favours if we don’t plan properly. Put people into stressful situations there will be turmoil. The water is not boiling in Canada yet, but you can see the bubbles starting to form.

No mention at all of the massive increase in tax base required to fund healthcare for aging boomers that is actually underpinning Canada’s immigration policy, cool. Failure to build housing because of NIMBY municipalities and an unwillingness by the federal government to align immigration targets with capacity are much more to blame than the nonsense conspiracy you’re spouting. Problem is the millions of Indians and Chinese along with Middle eastern people were brought in to perpetuate the liberal vote.\nDespite seeing conservative numbers polling high, I 10000% guarantee you Trudeau will be voted back in by these millions of immigrants plus Jagmeet Singh will team up with him to make that happen. If you want an escape from this bs then start forming groups like the Indians do and rebuild our society and communities with non Indians. It’s not racist to say that because that is exactly what they are doing to us, driving us out of our own communities we’ve been in for decades to only replace us with Indians. I have or had no issues with immigrants, we need them to fill jobs but it’s not done at a pace that is feasible for a society to be mixed and not one sided.\nThere will be no province to hide in except maybe southern Nova Scotia where there isn’t many jobs it’s more a place for retirees, but now I’m hearing I’m wrong, the are in the Deep South of Nova Scotia, but anywhere is better then Ontario.
