We lived in Canada for a while , we did buy properties and thought we will settle here but thank god we got some sense that this is not a sensible country and we have lived in many country’s and let me say this - there’s no country like India and we have come back ??????️ also our key places or theertha kshetras are in India and we don’t want to bring up a kids in western way and I want them to be true Hindu in every sense.

Thank God someone cover this thing. I am Indian Sikh moved here with my parents in 2021 and we are permanent Resident. I am disable so my parents thought it would be a great country in terms of opportunities but you know what I have not get any job because wherever I went for interview, there are so many international students looking for job as well. \nBring a citizen, it’s very heartbreaking that other who don’t have PR , still getting jobs.

Just because you had the privilege and the means to be developed does not give you the right to demean other nations. Hundreds of years ago all your native homes were part of the indigenous people here and they didn't even have time to complain or lament online when the Europeans butchered them and massacred their homelands, claiming the land and setting up as their own. Now you are in a position to call something your home and we all know what all your ancestors did regardless of how good you are right now. The least you can do is not comment such provocatively online against other ethnicities or is this atrocity still there in your blood. It's very simple. I was thinking of moving to Canada from Finland and Latvia in a few years to escape the looming war with Russia (I am no soldier by nature at all), but now I started having second thoughts about the plan. Finland is actually similar to Canada across several of the points you mentioned, but the cost of living is, surprisingly, still OK here. I do love proper winters, northern boreal nature and introverted people, however :)

I'm not Indian, I'm indigenous from Canada and I grew up in Vancouver, where the population is mostly from Asia. Being surrounded by people of asian descent is very normal for me. I don't expect anyone to assimilate and lose their culture to exist here. I knew we had a large population of Sikhs here but I didn't think it was nearly as many as in India... and now I find out there are more sikhs here than in India. Amazing. I also didn't know we had so many Sikhs in parliament, let alone Indians. My school is mostly Indian and everyone I talk to has come from Punjab. Everyone seems to love it here, and the school is in the middle of little Punjab so I've been told by my classmates it is the perfect place for the students who are homesick because they are surrounded by their community. I rarely hear English when I walk down the halls, there is even a course to learn to speak Punjabi, which I want to take so I can talk to the students who don't speak English as well. We have many large gurdwaras, and one near me I've eaten langar almost everyday for the past 10 years. Most people here know Sikhs to be very generous and humble. It was a shock to me when I heard the president of Guru Nanak Gurdwara was shot, because I believed Sikhs to be very kind and peaceful, and the gurdwara has a very good reputation as they take lots of food into Vancouver and feed the homeless. They even opened a kitchen in the DTES during the pandemic to be able to have food available to the people immediately. No one else did anything like that. They delivered a lot of food. Now they have an auxiliary kitchen in the DTES permanently that serves free meals. I thought more news would come out of the shooting but it seemed quiet for a bit until Trudeau accused the Indian government of the attack. This news also shocked me, so I decided to start looking into it slowly. I couldn't really get a good idea of what was going on until I searched a video for Diwali and your videos came up. I will share it with my husband so he can be educated on the matter as well. Thank you for your diligent research and dissemination of important knowledge.

I'm Canadian and lived in New York City for 5 years. I was offered a job and thought, why not? After 6 months, my excitement wore off. Of course, there's healthcare, but everything is about politics, and I mean everything. Such a focus on it. I know I'm talking about NYC here, but the people were not nice at all. Nobody cares about anyone as a human being. People are just plain argumentative and want to get into a scuffle. Let's just say I was very aware I was Canadian. I was baffled at the lack of humanity. In the beginning, I was holding doors open for people, etc, and people wouldn't even say Thank You. I naively expected people to do the same and guess what? It didn't happen. My work visa was for 3 years, so I was ready to move, and then, of course, COVID hit. I was stuck for another two years, then my passport expired so I had to wait to get that. After 5 years I was ready to head back to Canada. I moved back on Sept 2, 2022 and couldn't be happier. I could not live in the United States again.

I went to Long Beach California for a trade show. Walking back to my hotel There was a gated community with beautiful homes and I was thinking how slummy it is across the street. All this as police cars flying by at high speed sirens blaring. I thought jokingly they were on their way to my hotel. Sure enough there they were. someone was stabbed in the lobby, big pool of blood on the floor. \nNo thank you.

That's insane $3000 to have a baby I remember when my son was born the only bill I had at the end was $200 for a circumcision which I thought was a bit expensive thank god I'm Canadian

I’m trying to move out Toronto but I can’t sell my house because nobody has money. I lived in Toronto all my life. And Toronto has changed a lot \nA friend of mine sold his house last year and move to Calgary , then he used that money to buy a cheaper house in Calgary and all he owes on his new house is $100K. Thank goodness I chose the United States for my education. In 2010, I had two options -Texas A&M University and University of Waterloo. I thought of Waterloo at first (being top university in Canada vs 15th in US) as I was naive, but Texas A&M gave me teaching assistantship which meant 100 % tuition scholar and monthly stipend. Being from a lower middle class family in India, I took the option. \nEven 13 years down the line, that was the best decision of my life. I had chance to work with best researchers and professors in world, work in highly funded research labs, publish papers and patent and later get good job in my domain. \nI never aimed for green card and moved back to India. I applied for Canada and even received ITA but didn't go ahead. Things are not perfect but even today in India, most people are impressed by some niche work I did in US.

Would not ever move there. Don’t even know when I would visit there again. The health of a country, or the health of an individual which are clearly linked, is dependent on our ability to see ourselves and each other, and make necessary changes to improve in the areas that we lack personally, and as communities in our beautiful country of Canada and other countries as well. Well, it’s a work in progress. I appreciate how you’ve inspired us to speak about things that aren’t necessarily spoken about. At least not where I live and have lived in Canada. Most have no water to drink—not even boiled water and bottled water is available sometimes when it’s brought to reservations . Children don’t have the same access to books. So many thousands of bodies of children taken to residential schools from their parents arms and community for over 160 years yet the deep wounds aren’t given compassion by most people anymore and systemic abuse actively impacts them and therefore all of Us . We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. The numbers are growing. \nI live in Care due to my physical disabilities . An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. All children deserve healthy drinking Water and an education. Period. Especially, the ambassadors of this amazing land that they see as themselves without separation. That’s accurate. We will have nothing to stand upon if we don’t protect the earth. It will go on without us. \n\nI see many things in the comments I’ve seen or experienced, unfortunately.
