Trump's goal is to start an actual war with anyone who'll have it, including our closest neighbors and allies. The reason is that wartime presidents have more power and he doesn't care who stands in his way. He's going to use that power to detain journalists and jail political opponents ahead of the midterms claiming them to be traitors, then he's going to set himself up to run for a third term. If he succeeds, he'll have total control. Democratic leaders will be in jail, journalists will be silenced, and the national guard will forcefully search your home for any second amendments you might have lying around as they deliver our ballots at gunpoint. How do I know? Because that's what tyrants do. The US is in the midst of a political coupe and it's imperative that the situation be viewed from that paradigm. Drop any pretense that this administration is anyone's ally, they're not. They're a rogue administration attempting to seize total control of the US.

I believe you, Mr. TRUDEAU. We Americans who DO NOT SUPPORT our Administration's policies are crying and angry to see our country falling apart and the citizens who need the most help, are concerned about our welfare. ???? God help us all.

As long as Trump and his administration align themselves to dictators and impose outrageous tariffs on our allies and head toward an authoritarian government, all countries from the free world need to fight back against these unfair tariffs being imposed by the Trump administration. New torch bearers for the free world and the unified free world needs to decouple from an undependable, disloyal, Trump led US. Trump is tarnishing the legacy of the US in real time.

Please remember not all of us Americans voted for this administration, and we don't support it at all. What they are doing in the White House is totally wrong, and needs to be impeached. Because we don't want them.

Thank you, Prime Minister Trudeau, the sane Americans still love you and your great country. This government is not who or what I voted for. I am so sorry, friends. I think MOST of us do not want this either. Our government is a failure and we need to change it. We, the people. The REAL people. Not the fake numbers you hear about from this corrupt administration that lies like it's their religion to do so. Keep doing the right thing for your people, and know you have our respect. Also, please have mercy when many of us seek to move to a more civilized nation.

I canceled our familly trip to US because of risks caused by erratic administration that can decide any dumb thing at any time thus jeopardizing our tour and money. One of our son is deeply disapointed but he understood that risk is way too high right now. We will redirect to a EU member state for better security ? Unless the current administration return to business as usual, there is no point into changing mind for the next four years... Way too risky?

I'm so glad this has happened. Canada is strong enough to fight back. There's a chance it will wake up the American populace before this US Administration goes too far and tarnishes the country for a generation.

As a European I stand with Canada. I lived in the Us and many Americans are wonderful. However this administration has lost its values and soul. Canada and the E.U should work together closely. And why not join the E.U? Our values are the same. And We must be united against he great imperialists threats coming from Russia and, now, America. \nAs a consumer I decided to boycott American products whenever possible. I had planned to travel to America on vacation but I will cancel that for the next 4 years at least. I hope many will join us in the “boycott American products” movement?

I am so proud of my Father, a US citizen who joined the Grenadier Guards and fought in WWII. And for this administration to turn their backs on our allies is a travesty. It is an insult on the veterans who gave their lives to fight fascism. Not all of us voted for this BS.

As an American, I am always feel embarrassed by this current administration both domestic and foreign. I know it’s going to be difficult for most us Americans and to most Canadians as well but, please make sure to give shit administration an ugly lesson which will be difficult to recover in short term.

How can you listen to a bloke like Donald Trump and even remotely consider him in the same ball park as Trudeau? The entire US administration wouldn't be able to match this man's intelligence. Republicans man. The world's loudest and stupidest people.

I have to confess I don´t know much about the actual canadian politics. But this reaction of Mr. Trudreau was very impressive. As a german European I know we are together in this completely insane situation initalised by the pathetic performance of the Trump administration. But with Canada on our side, with a strong leader as Trudeau I´m optimistic that the european leaders will also unite and focus not on their differences but on the common interest to stop this destructive US Goverment from destroying the free western society.

The gaslighting the world is displaying is unbelievable. The moment America starts to look out for itself, like a toxic partner or lover, the world is responding by making us look like the problem. Not the people who have taken advantage of us. We have been the world's savior for 100 years, where is the gratitude? We aren't just going to shutter our doors to the world, we are rebuilding our country from the last corrupt administration. We love our allies, we just want to help our American people first for a change! Your countries all look out for yourselves, we are doing the same for a while. We aren't your enemies, don't treat us as such just for taking care of ourselves.

I am horrified and embarrassed of this current US administration. The America we once believed in has been destroyed.

Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

The backlash against the US in the form of anti americanism, will be epic. This is the dumbest administration and the most epic of fails in history.

Trump is a lunatic and is surrounded by evil people who support his wild decisions that hurt other countries and US citizens. Gen. Wesley Clark is somebody that, i have respected for over thirty years. Even Gen. Clark has expressed his displeasure over the way the Trump administration has threatened Canada with unfair tarrif's, on US'S closest ally and neighbour. It is obvious that Putin is manipulating Trump so as to isolate the US from its traditional friends and alies, as US credibility will decline internationally. Tarrif's will bring higher prices to American manufacturers and consumers and bring higher unemployment to Americans.

I still can't believe that we are being attacked by our best ally. The country that is supposed to represent freedom. The US administration is behaving worse than Russia. The EU and North American allies have been abandoned and assaulted. The vacating of the leadership position in the free world will be taken advantage of by other countries. First and foremost let’s be reminded that Trump is doing this for Putin in retaliation to what the Biden administration did to Russia with the sanctions for invading Ukraine. Secondly, Trump wants to be King. By weakening our economy and putting millions of people at risk and ruining their lives, he hopes a civil war can be started so that Russia, North Korea and possibly China can attack us while at war with each other and the Federal Government.

Thank you, Canada! As an American, I am appalled at the hellmouth this administration that I did not vote for has dragged my country into. Nothing I see suggests to me that the people we've entrusted with enforcing our laws and our constitution will come through for us against this coup that has broken with democracy and simple decency. So you do whatever you have to do to protect the interests of your own citizens, and I will have to hope that ultimately it will help topple these monsters who have taken this country hostage.

I’m a U.S. American and I’m so horrified, ashamed, and sad about what trump’s administration is doing. I find no fault in you doing what is right and necessary for your country. I just wish we a government that wanted what is best for us.

I’m a Canadian and no fan of Prime Minister Trudeau. It’s unfortunate the best speech he ever gave was after he resigned as Prime Minister. What he has said in this speech is absolutely true, despite the fact, I think Trump is doing some good things for the USA. This Terrif war with your neighbour is stupid. Unfortunately for us in Canada our Prime Minister has not given us the tools and freedom to grow economically and prosper the way we should have. Canadians should be living like Kings, but unfortunately are living paycheque to paycheque because of the stranglehold that our Prime Minister has put on businesses and its citizens. Tariffs 10%??\n\nMost should know that the fentanyl coming thru Canada is less than 1% If your wondering where the other 99% is coming from,know this- china allows the sale of the precursor drugs needed to make fentanyl, and it's unregulated. They suppy the mexican cartels these drugs to make and sell which comes across Mexican borders into the US. If china regulated the precursor drugs it could stop fentanyl manufacturing in its tracks. Again 10% tariffs vs 25% tariff. There was a time that china cooperated & worked with the US on this but have since stopped.\nSo whatever is going on with the trump administration, it's clear by the numbers this isn't about fentanyl with Canada. Especially since he didn't extend the same tariffs to the country that could actually stop the making of this horrible drug.
