If no one wants to live in Canada, why isn't the population going down ? In fact, more houses and condos are being built, public transport is improving (even though slowly). Population in most places keep going up ! For those who want to leave, please do. We won't miss you. One can complain about almost everywhere in the world.

A South African who lived there a few years. Nothing felt better than getting on the plane to leave, and knowing I will never have to return. Even South Africa with the crime and load shedding is by far better. In many ways a man is more free here even if i have to live behind security systems. I can speak my mind without fear of some PC police and censorship, which is far worse prison. My standard of living is also far better here. I can ride my bikes as I please where in Canada I can only ride a few months and would lose my license in a month due to BS fines. And the people here are much more open and truly hospitable, not some fake politeness. I even missed the blacks here, who at least i can joke and chat with far easier than with canadians. I found I have more in common with black africans than with white canadians who look like me and speak the same language. We may have the same skin colour but are totally different in culture. It made me realise I am more african than western, proud of it, and I would prefer to live and die with the african sun on my face with wide open space, than in some dark, cold, gloomy place living in cramped quarters in some libtard paradise constrained by so many laws. Of course black south africans will not like to hear that whitey has no plans to leave, but this is my home as much as theirs, I contribute to making the country somehow still function, and my kids are also more interested in making the nation run than running off to Australia, or even worse, Canada.\n\nI am so glad I didn't meet a woman there and get stuck. Canadian women are very unappealing and too feminist. I am grateful I had my kids with a proper traditional South African woman, and can live in traditional Afrikaner society where men are men and women are women, and there is no place for PC, gender confusion, and other libtard ideas. And i could raise my kids as proper south africans that the liberal world loves to hate. \n\nI can understand why north americans turn to asian wives, although that could never have been an option for me. \n\nHope Canada works out for you. Well I will tell you that I am an immigrant with Canadian citizenship, I have been living in Canada for almost 12 years, and I have decided to leave Canada to live permanently in my home country Peru. The reasons why I will leave Canada are mainly the extremely high cost of life (the rent mainly) I have lived in Toronto for almost 7 years and until now I am renting rooms because it's the only space I can afford with my current salary. The other reason is the health care service, as the lady in the video mentioned, I have been in the waiting list for 2 years to see an specialist and until now nothing. I got used to the weather, the people, the snow, I have my own car but it's sucking me almost CAD$1000 per month among monthly payments, gasoline and insurance. While in Lima Peru the cost of life is almost a third part of what it's here. The food is cheap and the quality is high (everything is organic in Peru). I will keep my Canadian job and work remotely from Lima and I will live like a king¡¡¡¡¡, I miss the food, the beaches, the amazing social life and with my Canadian passport I will be able to travel anywhere in the world once a year ..... now that's what I call living the life .... I am so excited¡¡¡

Ah... miss... you will not be missed... not my fault if your degree is second grade in the world in comparison to the west. You are the people living at the edge of society by staying in ghetto so you could stick to your roots. If you really gave it a try, you would not be In Vancouver, Toronto or Ottawa.

1) Toronto is poor value. Getting housing of any kind (buying or renting) is stupidly expensive. And the quality you get for the price is lousy. Especially the newer builds, which are just thrown up as quickly as possible and sold to investors. Policy measures generally all seem to serve to just inflate the price of housing further. The occasional lip service given to affordability is amusing, but ultimately sad. There are lots of people who really do not want the housing bubble to pop. They will fight against it with all they have.\n\n2) It has become kind of boring. There is lots to do if you have money, but it’s harder to find entertainment on a budget. Even the free stuff like parks are filling up. Stuff like sporting events, eating out, going out is very costly across the board. Even the “cheaper” stuff is expensive. It seems like a lot of local culture is disappearing. Even the cool neighbourhoods are filling up with the same chains. I think the high commercial rent and bureaucracy is deflating a lot of would-be entrepreneurs. Most landowners seem to just be banking on cashing out their land for condos.\n\n3) Canada overall has a high cost of living compared to salaries. In the US you can find lower cost of living areas that still give you a real city experience. And in Europe you can be poor but still live a decent, if no frills, life. In Canada the basic necessities are all expensive. Phone bills, grocery bills, rent, insurance are through the roof. Domestic travel is expensive. And the dollar sucks if you want to travel abroad. Health care is free but good luck finding a family doctor or waiting 8 hours in the ER these days. It’s expensive to be poor, or even middle class.\n\n4) Most of the Greater Toronto Area, outside the core, is soulless suburbs with awful transit - very “American” except with worse traffic congestion. You will need a car, which is another huge cost. Row upon row of old cookie cutter suburbs with the same crappy houses. Good luck walking anywhere, and if you do you will need to walk down boring, treeless arterial roads with cars zooming past right beside you, and cross giant eight lane intersections that were never built for humans on foot. In a rainstorm or on a fall evening you have to be really careful not to be run over by aggressive drivers.\n\n5) It is hard to raise a family in an apartment here. You can do it but it’s not very easy, and also you are still kind of judged for it. Lots of young people are feeling stuck and are deferring or avoiding starting a family. Buying any type of house, even a basic townhouse, requires pledging your soul to a bank by taking a massive mortgage with eye watering debt in a volatile market. But few apartment buildings have the kind of sensible gentle density, the family unit sizes and the common amenities, like little courtyards with jungle gyms, that you might find in Europe. No one ever contemplated that anyone would ever desire to raise kids in an apartment. It’s just a cultural thing that has worked its way into how things are planned and designed.\n\n6) The transit system is ok by North American standards but awful by international standards. There are only two real subway lines, one stub line, one line that is permanently out of service after a derailment, and another line that was supposed to open a couple years ago but still has no date for opening. The subways go out of service frequently, sometimes for the dumbest reasons, and then it is a zoo of shuttle buses. The streetcars are nice but so slow. The buses are fine if you find yourself dreaming about riding a daily herky jerky rolling tin of sardines. They are building a lot of transit but it will take decades to get done.\n\n7) There is still a lot of cool multiculturalism and opportunities to experience different foods and cultures - one of the best things about Toronto. Increasingly though it seems to be losing the fun vibe of the 90s, when everyone celebrated each other’s backgrounds and was chill. It seems the immigration is not as broad based anymore and also people are importing a lot of their “old country” grievances here. The immigration system also kind of preys on people abroad by selling them a false fairy tale, so they end up dejected when they arrive and see how things really are.\n\n8) This one might be controversial but it’s kind of an ugly city. There’s nothing particularly of historical meaning or value. Some of the older neighbourhoods are kind of nice, but the last 25 years they have only built giant glass skyboxes, one after another. There aren’t the cool “missing middle” walkups like in NY, Chicago or Montreal (or even LA). There are very few buildings with much architectural character. Some of the buildings they deem “heritage” here are an embarrassment.\n\n9) For safety, honestly on this score I think Toronto is not bad. There are not too many real “ghettos” and it’s night and day compared to much of the US. With that said, there is more vagrancy and social issues these days, with tents and such. It’s very sad but the shelters are full, lots of homeless go into the libraries, parks and transit system. It does make it harder to enjoy these public amenities safely. It is nowhere close to Europe where you might let your kids run free around town. Canadian parents still helicopter their kids and the place again is not designed to really be safe for kids, in the same way as Europe.\n\n10) Finally, a bit of a double edged sword. Toronto had a lot of youthful energy - people coming here from all over. It is definitely not as sleepy as many parts of the world. With that said, it is becoming a bit of a transient place (minus the world class experiences like London or NY). If you are from elsewhere you might find it hard making and keeping friends. I’ve seen lots of people struggle because it’s is hard to build a strong social network. We have a very “shallow” culture here - people are extremely polite but not overly warm and hospitable. We treat one another kind of like neighbours - meaning we’d like to have a cordial, drama-free coexistence and otherwise kind of stick to ourselves.

I married my spouse and moved to the United States from Canada. Before, I didn't give the US much thought and merely loved travelling to a few of the locations. Having said that, even after spending five years there, I have never witnessed a country and a population as divided as the US. You proudly display your flag, yet you're so racist, illiterate, and a bible-thumper that it disgusts me. The United States is not the most free country in the world, despite what the public believes and thinks. In reality, it is also depressing to observe how the healthcare system handles people. The social safety net is completely missing, and by that I mean that most jobs don't pay for maternity leaves or vacations unless you work at a senior level or for a high-end company. The political system is so rigged that it is understandable why people are tired of voting every two years, and perhaps even every year. Most certainly, especially since your elections begin almost exactly when the previous one finished. I suppose I could go on forever, but I'll stop here. Although Canada is not perfect, is not free from controversy or problems, and is not the best at everything, we are able to concede defeat, acknowledge that someone was wrong or that we might have done better, work together with one another, and express that we are SORRY. Yes, it is a word that is never used in the US, and that is also the issue. I'm pleased to be back in Canada, where I belong, and I regret ever leaving. Yes, returning to Canada feels peaceful and inviting compared to travelling to the US, where every trip involves an interrogation to ensure that you don't remain too long. There is no need to worry because I won't be returning to stay, only visit, as previously.

First lets mention what I like about the United States. Americans are easy to make friends with. They have no problem making friends with complete strangers. Americans can be very inviting to compared to many places I have traveled to. The only place that compares in Canada is Newfoundland. In Canada you generally need an invite to a group to make friends.\n\nI liked how varied each state is. Changing states can sometimes feel crossing into a new world of sorts. This change can be both good and bad (i.e. Georgia very educated, Tennessee quite backwater). \n\nWhat I don't like is how Americans are overly patriotic, they can be borderline nationalistic and it is creepy (i.e. school children pledging allegiance before they even know what that means). In Canada if I don't want to stand during the playing of the national anthem no problem I don't have to. If you do that in the United States someone will address you and not in a favorable way. I also find their patriotism blinds many Americans to the truth about their country (i.e. many American truly have no idea how they compare to the rest of the world in many areas).\n\nLastly their infrastructure is terrible. Their infrastructure is first class if you are a driving a car, but in many places you aren't getting anywhere without that car. Is that such an added expense to have to own a car. This is the same problem in Canada, but from having lived in Europe and Asia I miss good transit systems.

I'm a ??can who moved to Europe 22yrs ago through recruitment agency - the employer paid for my professional REGISTRATION with the nursing board, for my work authorisation permit before I even left, sent me a written 2 yr work contract, the flight(return), a taxi pick up from airport & accommodation for 2 the 1st weeks bnb.\n2. I bought myself a small property after renting for 9yrs here, it was not easy to raise funds while paying rent which is HALF YOUR SALARY, but it was worth it. I still have a balance on my bond which my pension lump sum wont even shift\n6. The regrets I have is that:\ni) I missed out on family, friends and christianity quality life, \nii) I spent too much money flying home every yr and sometimes 2 X a yr to keep my sanity and to bond with my family - adult kids and siblings & now grandkids\niii) I could have had a fair and equal opportunities to improve have more accademic and work status in my own country than in a foreign land & my experienced would have been not only recognised when it suits the employer, but it could have been openly VALUED and NURTURED if I was serving in my own country\niv) I could have retired 3 yrs ago and had a paid up bond and a nice retirement car\nThe POSITIVE side is that: \ni) I have a property in a good area that I can rent out for extra income \nii) I have enjoyed travelling around the world and living in A relatively SAFE COUNTRY for over a decade.\niii) I have come to realise that - \na) There's no place like home - we often take for granted, the standards of practice and quality of education and customer service and the advancement in technology both in both education, work and BANKING in our countries untill we travel and live abroad\nb) it is easy to bring your expertise & work ethics abroad and work like and educated slave for a small price\nc) I have come to realise that, Half the time, most of Our stories as a nation are told by someone else, and the world keeps the narrative going.

I lived in Turkey for 7 years then brought my wife back to the United States after COVID. Now that I know what I'm missing in this world I'm not very happy in America. No neighbors, no community, no social interactions, no interesting store-fronts. My wife is even more miserable. We have made 0 friends in nearly 2 years in America. I have spent more money on car maintenance than doing anything fun in life. Too bad these miserable anti-human cities will never change.

Canadas system is miles better then the US's thats for D**n sure. \n\nBut u are missing a major point here. One is to be a citizen to Canada and one is to be a citizen to the US. Regarding housing... this video misses another fact, Canada now has one of the largest concentrations of high net worth individuals in the world. Canada is an incredibly wealthy country, and indeed, attracts many wealthy immegrants too.

I have a fix to all this. Make every American that came from a legit system, and grand parents, and parents who came legally back 4 generations count only and offspring.. No Tno anchor babies allowed from anyone who came illegally past 4 generations, record department can validate all this. All natural born and maybe been legally also count. It is true about all the laws and rules in Canada that interfere in your life. We lived in the Middle East for 5 years and could not believe the difference. Less laws, less rules, less annoyance. It was great. We lived in Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait (though Kuwait had a bit more rules that made life hard mostly when it came to owning a car if you were a foreigner). Also, the weather. Yes, it is very hot in the Middle East but we loved that. I hate the cold here in Canada and there is no guarantee that summer is going to be warm and sunny, so it is hit or miss. Most people who say Canada is the greatest country in the world, have never lived in any other part of the world and therefore, really cannot be sure of their statement.

I grew up in the Bay Area, CA, and I moved away 12 years ago to NC. Best decision ever. I miss the west coast because the views are world class (the drive up and down highway 1 is just breathtaking), but I can afford multiple homes where I am, and I'm not rural. Just live in a suburb right outside of a major city. I can afford to raise a family, send kids to private school. I can afford vacations....I can afford to live! It's also why I am not liberal anymore. After moving from a Democrat controlled area to a mostly Republican controlled area, I converted. Lower taxes, better cost of living, and less crime...It just makes sense. I'm also hispanic, and let me tell you, I appreciate the racism here! I know that sounds odd, but for one, there really isn't that much racism to deal with, but when it confronts you, you know it! It's not hiding behind some fake woke smile, it's blatant and obvious, and I'm good with that because I can just navigate around it vs constantly second guessing.

I live Perth, Western Australia, and it is not only the most isolated city in the world but probably the most spread out too, but at least we have really good public transport. My brother lives an hour away so I can just get on the train and relax on my way there. Train to city, train to job and shopping centre. Bus up the street or just walk. Nature and pathways everywhere. But to get to the next city LOL drive many hours or take a plane.\n\nAnd OMG the water safety in USA is insane. Its horrible you need bottled water to survive. Water out of any tap AND WE HAVE WATER SCARCITY HERE! shout out to the water Corp and government securing clean safe water (sorry to the pockets where it is missing)

SO true about the tap water, lol! I've lived in 3 Texas cities, LA, SF, Oklahoma and Ohio, but the ONLY place of those that had even remotely decent water was SF (and IN the city... the surrounding areas still sucked). Then I moved to Edmonton and lived in 5 different buildings and the water was great everywhere. My fellow Edmontonians beg to differ, but they don't' know what they got. But then I moved to the country and my well water is horrific. :( So we fill up jugs of water at my kid's place in the city haha!\n\nLegit, the best thing about moving up here though is the healthcare. One thing people don't think about is not only do you save on your actual doctor visits, but you save month to month as well. YES, you pay for it with your taxes, but I've found that my taxes here are almost exactly break-even with mine in California, and now I don't have to pay out of pocket for my insurance in addition. Not to mention for the same taxes overall things like roads, registries (dmv), and pretty much everything else the government does is more efficient and better. \n\nMain thing I miss from the US day-to-day is 1: food. Outside of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, you don't get much good variety. 2: good speeds and affordable f'ing internet. Canadian internet is EXPENSIVE as FACK and not overly fast compared to pretty much every other first world nation.

As an American who moved to Luxembourg: the only thing I really miss is my US salary (worked at a tech company in Seattle). Everything else is better in Luxembourg… and you actually see where your taxes are going.\nEverything is clean, beautiful, and well kept. We have free health care and a mandatory 35 days of vacation. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. ❤\n\nAlso, it’s much easier to travel in Europe than it is in US. Why does a ticket from SEA to LA cost 500? I was born and raised in canada and 8 years ago we just gave up. My family decided that enough was enough and left our beloved country. \nI miss a lot of things. I miss the snow and the friendly neighbours but honestly: its so much better in this poor, almost third-world country on the edge of europe. \nFor everyone who wants to move to canada: pls dont do that. This is the all true allover western countries people are program like robot even here in Holland and Belgium, discrimination, police injustice, lack of respect for your colour and your Africa diploma's is just the same. We had been misused and missed educated till now many African heads of government officials are still blind and deaf. Everyday millions of your colour drowned in the Mediterranean sea some are killed by Moroccan police but nobody says anything or a single word about it. My advice is if you have any money with your slave certificate to start your life back home better than to relocate and register as a new slave in the Western world. I was born in South Asia, studied and worked in uk for 5 years. Immigrated to canada and stayed for 8 years and am currently in Hong Kong for some family reasons over the last two years in covid. What I can tell is there is no place like canada in the whole world. It’s heaven on earth. I get it that you can earn a lot of money outside canada , but you cannot get peace of mind and tranquility as you would het in canada. I miss canada every day and would be going back soon.

I left Vancouver 32 years ago, bought a one way ticket to Asia as I was sure I was never gonna move back. Don't miss it at all, especially the rain and taxes. I can retire pretty much anywhere in the world and Canada is not in my list. Maybe just visit Van during the summers to see my old friends from time to time but that's about it.

It is a very insightful video about what aspects of lifestyle can be very depressing for people. Also, habits define your life. People are not the most highly social in the USA. I moved to Mexico. I missed the tropics and I missed a less planned social life. At the same time, I think the economic pressures that people live in Africa and Latin America need to be addressed. Stay home and work on improving economics for your African or Latin American nations. Trading in extended family and the love of the community for money and loneliness is not worth it. What is worth it is an effort put in to improve the finances of nations with strong communities. The best of both worlds. Excellent video from EBS scholars.

The problems exist , but Canada provides tonnes of opportunities for immigrants who come here empty pockets. \nI started as pizza delivery driver and in few years got acknowledged as Engineer. Now I make top 10 % salary. \nThings ate getting expensive but it is everywhere in world. \nI love Canada as my second home. I think most people move back because they miss their first home.

You're missing the fact that since Covid, people are swarming into PEI en masse mainly from Ontario,Quebec,USA and many other areas.Why? Because it's safer here,has a great easy going lifestyle and is just the best place to live in the world,never mind Canada!

It's a pity that Americans couldn't just move into Canada. I would have loved to move there. Lived in Michigan before I moved to Texas so the weather wouldn't even be a problem. I actually miss the cold and snow. I feel like the US is becoming a third world country.

Friendly? Polite, perhaps. You have to love the reserve of Canadians, but they're not as engaging as folks in the States. Furthermore, while Canada is perceived as friendly, when it comes to cities, those in the Southern US consistently rank among the world's friendliest and most polite. Many, of course, can be violent. Also, are you serious about the shared tipping culture? And the bit on service? Your vid was solid and magnanimous, but on those points you missed the mark. Badly.

For almost 150 years the Liberal Left has been conducting an experiment. The subjects of the experiment: African people and working-class whites. The hypothesis to be tested: Can people taken from the jungles of Africa and forced into slavery be fully integrated as citizens in a majority white population?\n\nThe whites were descendants of Europeans who had created a majestic civilization. The former slaves had been tribal peoples with no written language and virtually no intellectual achievements.\n\nActing on a policy that was not fair to either group, the government released newly freed African people into a white society that saw them as inferiors. America has struggled with racial discord ever since.\n\nDecade after decade the problems persisted but the experimenters never gave up. They insisted that if they could find the right formula the experiment would work, and concocted program after program to get the result they wanted.\n\nThey created the Freedman’s Bureau, passed civil rights laws, tried to build the Great Society, declared War on Poverty, ordered race preferences, built housing projects, and tried midnight basketball.\n\nTheir new laws intruded into people’s lives in ways that would have been otherwise unthinkable. They called in National Guard troops to enforce school integration. They outlawed freedom of association. Over the protests of parents, they put white children on buses and sent them to African schools and vice versa.\n\nThey tried with money, special programs, relaxed standards, and endless hand-wringing to close the “achievement gap.” To keep white backlash in check they began punishing public and even private statements on race.\n\nThey hung up Orwellian public banners that commanded whites to “Celebrate Diversity!” and “Say No To Racism.”\n\nNothing was off limits if it might salvage the experiment.\nSome thought that the Talented Tenth would lead the way for African people. A group of elite, educated Africans would knock down doors of opportunity and show the world what Africans were capable of. There is a Talented Tenth. They are the African Americans who have become entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors and scientists. But ten percent is not enough. For the experiment to work, the ten percent has to be followed by a critical mass of people who can hold middle-class jobs and promote social stability. That is what is missing.\n\nThrough the years, too many African people continue to show an inability to function and prosper in a culture unsuited to them.\n\nDetroit is bankrupt, the south side of Chicago is a war zone, and majority-black cities all over America are beset by degeneracy and violence. And Africans rarely take responsibility for their failures. Instead, they lash out in anger and resentment. Across the generations and across the country, as we have seen in Detroit, Watts, Newark, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, and now Ferguson, rioting and looting are just one racial incident away.\n\nThe white elite would tell us that this doesn’t mean the experiment has failed. We just have to try harder. We need more money, more time, more understanding, more programs, more opportunities. But nothing changes no matter how much money is spent, no matter how many laws are passed, no matter how many African geniuses are portrayed on TV, and no matter who is president.\n\nSome argue it’s a problem of “culture,” as if culture creates people’s behavior instead of the other way around. Others blame “white privilege.” But since 1965, when the elites opened America’s doors to the Third World, immigrants from Asia and India–people who are not white, not rich, and not “connected”–have quietly succeeded. While the children of these people are winning spelling bees and getting top scores on the SAT, African “youths” are committing half the country’s violent crime–crime, that has nothing to do with poverty.

Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. It's more than OK to accept someone the way they are but as a friend or family member you doing them a disservice by not mentioning their obesity. \nI'm sorry if you feel I'm being to harsh or critical. I think it is a wonderful thing to share the world's longest border with such a great nation as Canada. I have always thought Canada was like the United States fraternal brother or sister. A well balanced report, something sadly missing in today's news. \n\nThat said, I do not see how Islam is of benefit to any western country. Wearing the burka or niqab is antithetical to our culture. I believe that in the 1990's, there was a small movement of Canadian women that wanted to go topless. That movement was also rejected by our culture. \n\nThere are at least 49 Muslim majority countries in the world where one can practice Islam if that is what is important to you. Canada should not become the 50 th.

I was raised in Canada and lived in America for 3 years, this was around the time Hurrincane Katrina hit. I miss living in Houston, but wouldn't change for the world. I love it here in Toronto. The guy made good points about the obvious differences between the neighboring countries. I'm full of Texas pride, but Canada rocks!!!
