Canadian here—it’s unfortunate to hear that many people are still crossing over from our country. While efforts to crack down have begun, they clearly aren’t enough. A major issue is individuals from India fraudulently obtaining student visas, with many failing to attend school, violating their visa terms. Others are simply ineligible for permanent residency and these people are likely fleeing due to increased enforcement by our own immigration officers and fear of deportation.

This is really sad becuase life after deportations is tough for somebody who was raised in USA. I was taken to the U.S. as a baby and grew up there, but at 19, I was sent back to Mexico—a country I had no memory of, no connections in, and barely spoke the language. My entire family had migrated when I was little, so I was left to figure everything out on my own.\n\nComing back felt like being thrown into an unfamiliar world. I wasn’t fluent in Spanish, had a weird accent, and my mindset was completely different from those who grew up in Mexico. I used to be outgoing and got along with everyone, but now I’ve become more introverted. I struggle to relate to people, have trouble socializing, and often feel like I don’t belong. I feel completely alone, with no one to talk to in person because everyone sees me as an outsider. Many even think I’m a terrible person for coming back after being raised in the very place they dream of moving to.\n\nMaking friends has been challenging too. Many assume that because I grew up in the U.S., I have more money, and friendships often come with the expectation that I’ll pay for everything.\n\nOn top of that, daily life is a struggle. Renting a place is extremely difficult because I don’t have a co-signer from Mexico, and they won’t accept one from the U.S. Getting legal documents like a passport is nearly impossible because my parents haven’t been in the Mexican system for over 19 years, and officials tell me they have no way to prove who I am. Unlike in the U.S., where there are laws against discrimination, I face rejection at every turn here.\n\nThis life is hard. I wish my family had never migrated—or at least had done so after I was old enough to understand the risks and what could happen in the future.

Just within the past two weeks FEMA spent over $500 million to provide luxury hotels for illegal immigrants yet a few weeks ago they were still claiming that they didn’t have enough money to help American citizens who suffered catastrophic loss during recent hurricanes and wildfires. The simple fact that Democrats got more upset that Elon Musk bought Twitter than they are, that their own political party in government for the past four years, has literally been holding them at gunpoint and forcing them to pay taxes so that they could steal it or launder it into their own campaigns and pockets is literally disturbing! WTF!!!! If any of those other federal agencies are ran or funded the way U.S. AID were, with the massive corruption, misappropriation, fraud and theft of taxpayer funds, then I hope DODGE goes through an completely audits, every single federal agency in the United States. No wonder the Democrats are freaking out the way they are, if the Republicans got caught this bad with their hand in the taxpayer cookie jar, then you know the Democrats would be screaming a different tune. The Democrats are trying to manipulate taxpayers into believing utter nonsense like their phrase “ no one voted for Elon Musk. “ but in reality no citizen ever votes for the hundreds of the civilian presidential appointed positions to run these federal agencies, every new president pics/appoints to these positions every term. It definitely explains why hard-working tax paying men and women are getting completely ripped off and robbed every time they look at their paycheck and see how extremely and unnecessarily high taxes are now. They were absolutely using tens of millions of US taxpayer funds to finance terrorist organizations like the Taliban and Isis, billions of US taxpayer funds, pushing their racist and sexist woke liberal DEI agenda across the globe, they were absolutely bribing corporate news media to control the narrative and manipulate the American people to influence elections via corporate news media subscription payments to very left, leaning news organizations, such as politico and others, that were clearly and obviously bribes to the media, just one of the NGO of many organizations under U.S. AID paid $75,000 of taxpayer money a year for a Digital subscription to politico’s corporate news outlet , that any one could sign up for $10 a year like any other news outlets digital subscription. The list of fraud, corruption, and very obvious US taxpayer funds theft, just goes on and on and on. I’m sorry that your country isn’t safe or has a lot of problems, but people in the US can’t afford groceries either and the gov doesn’t help the homeless, disabled or elderly enough as it is. No one should be entering the country until every single homeless citizen has been given whatever appropriate help they need and a place to live. Until our own poor citizens have been given sufficient amounts for food. Some elderly US people get $23 in SNAP monthly and are expected to eat and survive on that, while illegals are handed cards with $800 on them to eat with. How is that ever ok? \nSome of us are existing on like $600 per month, we have veterans living on the streets. These things must change before we can help anyone else. I work with people getting them housing and I can tell you that the major focus is housing illegals besides that rent is too expensive. yep issue here is housing, to many people coming in not enough housing that is affordable for Immigrates and Canadians which has cause a rise in Homeless, lack of job increases and failure for new businesses to start up, low spending doesnt help it, low income less money going out, less sales. Homelessness is increasing in Australia.\nThe government then tries to build more social housing and pays the builders higher prices than a person building a private house can afford, which continues to increase the construction cost spiral. We now have $1M+ houses being built for people on welfare who only have to pay a maximum of 25% of their income, and that income is given to them by the government. People are better off being unemployed and living off government benefits and housing than to have a job paying less than $100k/yr.

Deporting undocumented immigrants will cause many small businesses to struggle. Who will do the work that most people don’t want to do—like agricultural jobs, dishwashing, and lawn care? Undocumented immigrants contribute more to this country than many realize, and they also pay taxes through their purchases. Food prices will rise if we deport them because most Americans won’t take these jobs for low wages. If Americans take on these roles, they are likely to demand higher pay, which would increase costs across the board. In the end, we would be hurting ourselves and our finances. It’s already challenging enough, with many Americans living paycheck to paycheck. I believe that a mass deportation of undocumented immigrants would be a serious mistake.

I work way too much and have way too many stresses. There’s not enough emotional capacity left to spend this much time obsessing about immigrants. \n\nChina and Russia are buying up real estate in our backyard, and hacking our networks, and Republicans are worried about brown people in flip-flops climbing a fence.

Democrats should stay out of the deportation fight (getting rid of criminals is fine), but let MAGA and the business community fight it out. Obama deported many people, but it never significantly harmed the economy. If Trump carries out his plan, we will reach a critical mass where there won't be enough people to pick the crops, work in the meat processing industry, hospitality, construction, etc. Costs will rise significantly, and we will experience shortages.

I worked in Criminal Court (NYC Metro area) for many years. We always checked for Immigration Holds on those who were arraigned in our courts. How it plays out is that INS would take a long time to appear where detainee was. Court (local w/ separate budget) wants to process the case quickly just like the local jail want to discharge because it cost money to keep people locked up. If INS is not fast enough to appear the people are released.

This isn't just a white or black thing it's an out of control immigration system where people use loopholes in the system to gain residency. This anti-immigration isn't isolated in fact most immigrants who's lived in Canada all their lives have expressed deep concern that the government is letting in too many from one nation and the lopsided admittance is part of the concern. The metrics of the majority of new immigrants come from the Middle East and India how can anyone not notice the concern that many have been expressing for a decade. Canadians aren't against immigrants it's that we didn't expect to just let anyone in without actually knowing how to speak English or have etiquette and follow laws. Many have concerns that many of the new comers can't even speak English yet they have license to drive and how do we get around most bend the rules or the law. Myself I've notice a skyrocketing scam scheme and how can you not equate that to the rise in our broken immigration policy. The last time I heard you had to have certain criteria to be considered to immigrate and why is that some countries like from the South Pacific you need to know English have money in the bank and a skill or degree on a list of acceptable qualifications. So many who can't even read or write English have jobs, drive a car, then to make matters worse have housing yet we have a crisis? Most Canadians see the pattern and most are educated enough to know there is something to be said, loopholes and when they find it they abuse the system.

I'm pretty sure that the govt have done an immigration freeze before. Many applications were just halted and nothing happened for several months. This was a decade or so ago.\nBut yes if Stephen Harper was stupid enough to increase the immigration numbers then we know who to blame - the Conservatives!! \nSO DO NOT VOTE for the Conservatives. They just want money - Taxes. That is all. They will probably also increase the numbers again for more new taxes. \nRemember Conservatives = Trump. These people act like Trump. Greedy for Power and Money. This also means Doug Ford as well!! \nTrudeau should also have cut back these numbers ASAP during and after the Pandemic. Someone did not advise him very well at all. \nI do agree that Trudeau needs to do another freeze and not accept any new applications for at least 6 to 12 months, in order to process those applications already in the system.\nTrudeau then needs to severely cut the incoming numbers back to 200K like they used to be. And then keep it to that level!!

Enough laborers are here. The employers just want immigrants to exploit. I know highly skilled people who are applying for jobs and don't get hired while immigrants have 2 jobs. The govt has been either duped or working on an agenda. A lot of the managers, are East Indians and only hire their own nationality. Check all the supermarkets, hardware stores, fastvfood places. A master carpenter can't get hired bc he wont accept 25$/hr for a job driving 2 hrs each way. So they hire the immigrant Latinos. Too many Mexicanos since 2017, no visa required....

India has too many people and not enough land to dedicate a homeland to Sikhs. The solution is obvious: they'll make a homeland in Canada, just like how Jews made a homeland in someone else's country. And why not? I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

When I first visited Amsterdam and walked around my hotel looking for a coffee in 2016, 15 min later, I came back to my hotel giving coffee to my wife and told, watch something bad is going to happen here soon, extremists are trying recruit people of color. Since I was new to the place, I came across 3 people asking me if I am a muslim. I politely said no. This incident was good enough for me to guess, but I did not tell anyone except my wife because no one will believe me including my wife. Two years later, Amsterdam terrorists attack happened. Many of my observations in several other places/countries came true. It looked like, Einstein once said, I do not know what weapons we use in the third world war, But I can guess certainly for the 4th, Sticks and Stones. \n\nNo country should harbor extremists a safe haven, esply. on religious grounds. Helping people is my nature, but my help is to stand on their feet not burden to anybody. So, elect good politicians not on party basis but by character.

In Canada, there is not enough housing and jobs are scarce, especially for anyone at the entry level or basic wage. We've been absolutely swamped. This is not the fault of the immigrants or the students, it's the fault of our extremely stupid and short sighted government. Most of those immigrants I encounter are good people, polite and considerate. But some, well I understand where the complaints about rude and inconsiderate behaviour come from, because it only takes a few bad experiences to get people angry. I've experienced it myself, but most of it (from my experience) seems to be from students who are very loud and impolite on public transit. The housing situation here is INSANE, prices are sky high and very little to choose from. A lot of seniors now can only afford to rent a room (after having worked all their lives and very little to show for it), and prices are up about 50% from only 5 years ago. The government says inflation is a fraction of what it is in real life, and living expenses have exploded. As I understand it, some people made a lot of money offering services to bring students and low wage workers in, with no consideration to the damage they were doing to all of us who were born and raised here - they wanted to make their million dollars. Another problem is that once someone arrives here, what they find is NOT what they were led to believe. What students and immigrants are told they need to live here is an absolute lie, living here in Canada has become very expensive. Many workers are severely under paid, and never even see the legal minimum wage, and the problem with that is, almost no Canadian will be hired on to those jobs - the reasons are that imported foreign workers will work below minimum wage because they are trapped here, and the Canadians already know that they will only struggle if they take jobs that pay so poorly. So yes, a lot of Canadians are VERY angry, and you really can't blame them. Once again, the Canadian government is responsible for much of this, and crooked employers who are willing to take advantage of low wage labour. It's an absolute mess.

Need more reasons ? That's already enough I think. If they are thinking or behave like you, my friend, I don't mind at all, I don't care how many they come here, but unfortunately, a lot of them causing problems. 5-10 % of 100k people is not bad, but 5-10 % of 3 million is not a small number.

It's interesting to see what will happen if I post a neutral comment here. \n\n\nUndoubtedly, Germany is not a paradise on Earth, just like any other place. There are both pros and cons. Sometimes I felt like I was reading comments about a completely different country when people wrote about not being accepted by society and so on, so I decided to respond too.\n\n\nI barely speak German (my second language is English) and I have never felt any racism or disrespect towards me. Whether it was on the street or at work. I more often met friendly people who were interested in learning about my move to Germany and were always admiring and saying words of support. This cannot be faked, these things were real. \n\n\nOf course, you will experience a lot of stress when visiting the foreigners' department, as many things are unfamiliar to you and you don't have enough language skills at first.\n\n\nOf course, I would like to get paid more for my work, or at least pay less taxes. Yes, child money support exists, but it's more of a formality as it barely covers the costs of raising children. This is where I would really like to see improvements.\n\n\n\nPeople, including immigrants, cannot understand that by increasing the demand for housing, they are increasing its cost. You can't blame the country itself for this. The law of supply and demand works here.\n\n\nThose who write about their plans to move to Australia or the USA, don't forget to share your relocation experience after. When you face the same or even bigger relocation problems. \n\n\nYou are right in one thing - there is no paradise on Earth, and you have to work.
