The north Korea / DPRK bashing is completely unnecessary. It's one of few countries where the people have successfully resisted massive attacks from western aggression. During the war against Korea, Japanese fascists have killed millions and the USA has bombed EVERY SINGLE BUILDING taller than 2 stories to the ground. 1 in 4 people of the DPRK have been genocided by the West. So virtually everyone has lost a loved one. Also the DPRK has been economically very strong before the 90s, before the highjacking and collapse of the Soviet Union. Even so strong, that they've assisted the Soviet Union. The USA is forcing every country on the planet to stop trade with DPRK in order to bleed out the country. It's their second genocide against the people of Korea after all the bombings, but the DPRK still stands. Something most countries couldn't achieve in history. There are so many vile and RIDICULOUS lies against the DPRK. People need to start thinking if what they're fed by western media makes ANY SENSE at all. And do some deeper reasearch. It's not that hard.

If I can afford a home, why would I want to leave? The housing crisis is a big deal for many. You can't find suitable rental in the GTA when you make well over 120k cad a year. It's not just the barriers in professions. It's the lies about prosperity and growth fed to the immigrants. You just need to work hard, and you'll live your dream is a lie. Immigrants end up eating from their savings instead of saving. Fix the housing crisis, invest in public education and health, and no will will want to leave this beautiful country. The more you earn, the more you are taxed and if you are a single earner in your family, you're punished for it. I don't want to go out and work and leave my kids in daycare when my husbad is doing a good job. I don't want my kids being raised by strangers while me and my husband struggle to maintain a decent lifestyle. When 120k isn't enough for a family of 5, it's time to leave.

I`m Canadian, and did move to the USA, then moved back to Canada. Americans are Taxed on every dollar they earn, most states have to pay Fed an State tax, Health Care cost is way to high, when they economy goods bad, it goes south really fast. America tax on avg 22%, Canada 15%, America state tax 5.75%, Canada 0%, America sales tax 7.4%, Canada 7% plus 5% GST, however you get the GST back when you file you`re taxes. The 1 thing I really like were the people, made some very good friends but, they are not very educated, most people don`t leave they`re state, because they can see the world on TV, so why travel, as I was told.

Maybe the feds should have shut down the Roxham road fiasco sooner. Just saying. They poured over that border like crazy and now we think there’s a problem? Look at every nation on earth being inundated. Pretty soon it will look like the places they were running from. All part of the plan in my opinion. Destabilizing the world one war at a time. No one can afford a house even with high paying jobs. Some towns are giving these people homes when they arrive! To hell with the locals! So as glad as I am you’re calling attention to Toronto’s problem, pointing out this other BS is pretty important too. It’s no different than what the UK is going through, except their situation is even worse! One thing is certain though, and it’s happening everywhere. The people are fed up.

We have to put up with this crap in the UK too. We're a dumping ground for the rest of Europe and we're struggling to take care of our own because of these lot, expecting to be fed and housed for free! Ridiculous...

US needs to help it’s people before it should help anyone else.. unfortunately.. Biden/Harris are too busy being celebrities that they don’t care to really try to set the US up for success next term.. regardless if they win or trump wins.. wishful thinking want/ me to have faith.. but it’s hard when I see the devil at play within our walls. Maybe if DC wouldn't bankrupt their home countries they wouldn't have to flee to survive. \n\nWe owe them at this point. Yes, we OWE them. Look at the last 50 years of economic treatment of MX and central America. It's caused mass poverty and lack. In order to survive, many had no choice but to leave. But where do they go? Most, if not all, immigrants have gone through rigorous English proficiency tests from reading, writing, speaking. Likewise most of the immigrants have high educational backgrounds, so they’re definitely proficient in English. They may not have the native speaker accent (just like yourselves) but I highly doubt they could be regarded as not being proficient in the English language. What’s the big deal about the English language by the way? among all of the languages, it’s the easiest to master. So I highly doubt that’s one of the real reasons. It’s more on the stupid “not having Canadian experience” thing. Which is really doesn’t make much sense. How would you expect most immigrants to have Canadian work experience? This backwards thinking is among the reason why Canada is lagging compared to other global countries. Only Canada has this rule. That way, it’s limiting its chances of getting the best talents from every part of the world. Because of this rule, highly skilled immigrants are forced to work jobs that doesn’t require technical skills just to pay the bills, until they got fed up for not being able to get jobs according to their high skills and eventually leave Canada for the US.

To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. The States is smarter in that it actually makes sure to integrate its immigrants (and let's be honest, many immigrants like being part of a new culture if it fits them) c) Treating real estate as an investment and not as a basic necessity (as Japan or some Nordic countries do, for example). That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

Does the word 'refugee' not have any meaning to anybody anymore? Pffft. It's like this in Europe. Let's be honest, most are economic migrants not refugees and I find it deeply insulting to see such powerful words abused and entirely watered down in meaning. If you genuinely care about words and their meanings. There's nothing wrong with immigration whatsoever, the problem is illegal immigration and people who play the system.
