Inflation is higher than what they say.. real estate prices are out of touch with the actual wages and salaries.. cost of food is unbelievable… rent is ridiculous.. Wages are laughable.. taxes are insane.. we are also taxed on so many things on top of income tax such as .environment, carbon, plastic, sugar tax etc… it is insane.. Healthcare is going through crisis… Getting MRI takes ages.. So now they wanna bring 500k in the midst of all this ? It is going to screw us more .. I also feel sorry for the migrants who are moving out here with lots of hope and ambitions… I also feel sorry for us .. stress = mental health issues….. This government screwed each one of us.. what they are doing doesn’t make any sense to me. They are out of touch with reality.. Can’t wait for the election and will never vote for NDP or Liberals.. they surprised me.. My quality of life went from good to bad and bad to worst..I love this Country.. and I want the best for us!!! ?

The problems Canada is having now is politically made. After 8yrs of Justin Trudeau, this once beautiful and desirable country is now in shambles. High cost of living, unemployment, inflation, drug problems, rising crimes in every big cities, human rights being restricted, people are taxed to poverty are only a few of the issues Canadians are facing under this clown dictator Prime Minister Trudeau. This once shining beacon of democracy and prosperity is now dying slowly. Thanks to liberal voters who voted the worst PM in Canadian history.

Canada is a crock of shit. The Corporate greed in this country is astounding. The rich really get rich off the depravity of the rest of the people. The gap between the rich and poor now is terrifying. We allowed cowards for politicians and the LGBTQ rights lobbyists to separate us from Jesus who is God and then from our prosperity because the Word of God condemns them together. Canada is a veritable hellhole with no future. Do not come here without millions of dollars or be prepared to lose everything you brought with you from your native country.

Most people are not saying no to immigration. We do need some level of immigration. \n\nHowever, we need to slow way down to catch up and make up for the massive immigration of the past 6 to 8 years. Bringing more and more people, when we don't have the infrastructure or the economy to support them, is doing no one a favor (except big companies and landlords). Immigrants come here with the promise of a better life but end up stuck paying 2700$ per month for a closet in Toronto, working three jobs and 55 hours a week where they make 3400$ a month. The housing situation is the worst it has ever been. Rates are high, average cost of house in Canada is now above 750k CAD while the average salary is around 54k. Those are not sustainable figures. We cannot keep accepting 500k people a year, with hundreds of thousands of international students on top of it. \n\nI'm sorry if it ruffles the feathers of some liberal thinkers, CEOs, big slumlords and university boards but this is not a sustainable model. We've been going down in standards of living, despite paying heavy taxes. Something needs to change.

You didn’t mention the worst aspect of Canada: the dictatorship of the liberal politicians. You have no “Bill of Rights “ to prevent the oligarchs from making terribly oppressive rules that remove all rights worth mentioning. In other words, going down the path of the Progressives who despise personal freedoms (see USA).. moving to Canada would not increase our freedom to live.

The worst part is, you can see Americans opposing Afghan war, British opposing Iraq war, Western world and Jew organization opposing Gaza war But you will never find any body opposing vehemently ISIS/Hamas from islamic countries. All of those issues are the same in any OCDE country. \n\nHousing market is shit in Europe too, even worse I would say, but at least they have decent public transports, so you can live outside a city and still go to your work fast. That’s the only real advantage. (Okay maybe construction quality and norms also)\n\nFrom experience, aka a French software engineer now living in Quebec, cost of life is waaaaaaay cheaper here than in Europe. Probably due to the current liberal government and the usamerican capitalism, healthcare is in shambles (as any other healthcare system in OCDE), public transport is non existant, etc. \nWherever you go, at some different levels, theses are issues you find in any developed countries because this is just how we made our society and how it’s deteriorating because our model is just bad overall. \n\nI do have gripes with Quebec stuff, which I think it’s one of the worst province in the country, but as far as I’m concerned, as well as most of my immigrant friends, this is still a prime country to immigrate to. \n\nAlso, the Canadians are really welcoming, progressive, kind. A know a lot of people who left Canada. To be honest - I myself even considered it. The cost of living is just insane, taxes are too high, housing market is in its worst shape, the stuff they teach kids in school is just absurd (too much focus on diversity and inclusivity). You're a good guy, Tyler...and very brave to take on such a dicey subject as comparisons between Canada and The United States. We are two distinctly different cultures. Currently, America is more than frightening. The political system has really become a total mess. A two-party system (basically YES or NO) does not cater to the many grey areas of politics. The choice right now seems to be Fascist or Liberal. That's it! It was not like that during most of my professional life. Thanks to my job, I had a Green Card. But, I also could travel with little difficulty...especially in the South and Mid-West. Why? Well, because I had blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin. I never got used to states where everyone was walking around with a gun. It scared the hell out of me. As a commercial film director and writer, (unique services - hence the Green Card) I worked just about everywhere in the US. The North East is the most similar to Canada. But get down south, and people were literally walking around with holsters and revolvers on their hips. I never felt completely safe. But America is also a great country full of opportunities and if you are educated and a professional, the money is also great. All Canadians love their Healthcare and Social Safety Net. Generally, I think Canadians are more socially evolved and better educated. Your educational system is awful. And the Bible Belt States are anything but Christian. It's hate and fear-based. But the past 7 years have been the worst since the Trump Cult era began. Trump and his Mega Cult could destroy what was once a wonderful country.

Diversity is our strength. Think of all that we gain from being home to the best of all that is available from these diversified cultures. Think of all of the worst that we also gain from so many of those diversified cultures. When we import people from all around the world, we import, along with all of the good, all of the bad. What is culturally and morally acceptable in a great many of these foreign countries, is NOT acceptable in Canada. However, our accepting liberal society has a solution for that, we simply change to meet the ever moving social and moral target. This is why our Prime Minister gets away with stating that Canada has no national identity or culture worth preserving, since we just accept and then change to suit.

Those with a low time preference defer consumption and save money for the future while those with a high time preference discount the future and are more concerned with the present. I believe it all links back to Nixon leaving the gold standard and giving countries the ability to print money at will. Societies with a low time preference are riddled with crime while those with a high time preference aren't. \n\nPoliticians don't care.

Also, total no. I love spending weekends in Boston, it's a great city with a good mix of sport and culture. I know some urban centers are more liberal, but as many mentioned I cannot live in a place that gives so much importance to guns, religion, moral conservatism and Marjorie Taylor Green. We do have nut jobs in Canadian politic, but nothing remotely close. Also, I did find an article from May 26, 2023 that said there were 200 mass shootings across the US so far this year. I also hate the culture war in the US where everything become political (like LGBT rights, climate change or even biking). Worst part is that I'm considered conservative in Canada. I understand that there are nice people everywhere, even in the bible belt, and I would enjoy sharing a BBQ with them, but do I really want to raise children around people that believe that the Bible is more important than human rights and women freedom of choice with their body?

You are bang on with your assessment. I am now retired but spent my entire career in the private manufacturing sector. Because of poor economic policy, I have watched the decline in the manufacturing sector to which I have been screaming about for the last 20 years. You cannot be a service only oriented economy which we clearly are moving toward. The last 8 years have been extremely the worst with the current Liberal government in charge - Canada needs better leadership and Trudeau clearly is incapable of providing it. It's not too late! The structural bones are there, we just need smarter people in the government to provide the right economic stimulus to make it happen.

A Country is only as good as its citizens .. the citizens in Canada are so dumb they vote for Liberal Governments that intentionally destroy the economy with mass corruption and out of control spending all while raising taxes higher and higher ! Under Trudeau Canada has 1.3 trillion in debt since 2015 . Under a Conservative government in 2014 we had a 600 billion surplus. The problem with Canada is its control of State run media that lies to the people who are ignorant, the result is an uninformed ignorant voter that continues to vote for the worst possible Polititains.

In 2009 I questioned if I could ever own a home but I was still working hard at my career and had some hope if I met the right women to marry. Then along came Justin Trudeau. Within 2 years of his goverment that dream faded fast. Everything I saved and my individual salary still wasn't enough. Property taxes and carbon taxes make it absolutely impossible here in southern Ontario even far a small home not without trying. I always get out bid on the 316 homes I tried to purchase. I can't pay 30%-70% above market value on a single income. Turning in my pensions isn't even an option. I'm not gambling away my retirement with current crrupt Liberal goverment that continues to raise taxes. To give some an idea just how single parents are crushed on taxes. I pay 53% of my income on taxes and get almost nothing back when filing my taxes cause I work hard and excel in my career. I get punished for being a hard work and risking my life to do so. Living in Canada has gotten gradually worse and worse the last 8 years. The socialist way of life isn't good. Now the writing is on the wall that it's becoming a communist country. I'm now searching for employment opportunities south of the border to give my child the best chance to making her dreams a reality. Canada isn't giving me any other options. If everything works out in the US I will surrender my Canadian citizenship at the earliest availability. It breaks my heart but I just can't allow them to enslave me and my child as she becomes an adult. Slavery is the only way I can describe the last 8 years. Also to top it all off 6 if the last 8 year's basic goverment services have been extremely unstable making doing business with Canada very frustrating. Getting a passport during this time has been delay after delay. Finding a family doctor that is stable almost impossible. \n\nCanada's economy status looks good from a far but its really far from good. Our goverment is literally paying 10s of billions in tax dollars to draw auto makers here and to even keep them here. Just further proof the economic future is very unstable. Probably even more so then the housing market. \n\nOur PM isn't even hiding his goverments level of corruption anymore. He actually brags about it at home and on the world stage. \n\n\nI worry about my future more then planing for it. Hopelessness has definitely set in. Now I'm in damage control by no fault of my own to make sure no possible debt are passed on to my daughter in the next 25 years when I'm gone. Even that is looking to be unachievable in my particular situation. It's my worst nightmare to leave my kid with any owing debts.

I moved to Canada in 2012. I used to love Canada as even with $11 per hour job was more than enough to survive (during studies, part time job). I used to live happy life. But, since Liberal government was elected in 2015, things are going crap. Just between 2016 when I signed lease of 1+1 apartment for 1140$, in 2019 it was getting rented for $2400. Prices went up for house and lots of things. Liberals had messed up affordability that most people in Toronto region are living paycheque to paycheque. On top of it Carbon tax in hide of saving environment which literally not working out, is killing Canadians. \n\nAfter living in Canada for 11 years, I don’t see this country has any good future overall. Our banking to technology sector everything is outdated. World is moving so fast, Canada is not able to catch up. I am looking for easy was to get green card of USA, the country which I hated, it seems USA is far better. I have many relatives in USA, I asked around and it broke lots of my stereotypes about USA which I had developed living in Canada and from Canadians. Even met few people who lived in Canada for 10-15 years and moved to USA and living there for last 5-10 years. Worst decision of my life was choosing Canada in 2012 for easy immigration. My classmates who chose USA and moved there in 2012 are in much better position career wise as well salary wise and they files are also in progress. Living lavish life with great weather, while Canada is depressive as hell.

Not sure I agree with Quebec being no 1. Being born and raised in that province, and able to speak French fluently. I had no problem moving to Ontario. Quebec is for sure a beautiful province, but that said, has the worst health care system, the political structure is definitely anti English. Any immigrant must go to French school, unless you pay privately. Taxes are the highest in the all of Canada, and you get very little in return. Personally, I would creep over the border into Ontario, and if you are working in a Quebec, pay a hell of a lot less in taxes, have a more liberal education system, both in English or French, and healthcare is much more accesible.

This is for liberals to get new voters bc Canadians are sick of Trudeau . As someone who voted for ppl in every party the last 2 prime ministers were the worst in our history . This is just to keep Trudeau in power. I'm all for immagration but right now look after our citizens . Price of food ,gas and housing are through the roof . It'll only get worse if the government is giving more money to immagration. How about using that money to fix health care in Canada.

Who will stop this unfettered invasion by cultures that have no respect for our norms, mores, & way of life?! I live in a city neighbourhood that is immigrant central & can say confidently from immediate & personal experience that the majority here are not fleeing anything, popping from country to country to grab money & send it back home then, when they have enough, they retire back to their homeland. Most have no respect for private property nor for any of the norms of a polite society, they don't even wish to learn our language sufficiently to understand & respond. Most of my life I supported immigration but not this way, not with zero oversight. All political parties support it for the sake of getting more votes but the Liberals are the worst.
