Indian spirituality penetrated western thinking in the 1960s and that was followed by cuisine from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. So generally people in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, etc have welcomed people from the Indian sub-continent. Obviously immigration whether from India or another country needs to be moderated in order to give the immigrants time to adapt to the Canadian way of life

To be honest the problem with Canada is that they are not having strict immigration checks like the USA which has in turn resulted in non-qualified people coming from India to name sake colleges over there . A lot of people just used to drive trucks or do odd jobs over here in India . I really think Canada's welcoming nature has been misused in the wrong way.

This is a Big Problem. But the problem was created by short sighted Canadian propaganda. They duped millions of vulnerable young people with false promises! People in Punjab were told by visiting, white Canadian politicians like Trudeau (who literally dressed up and danced all around India) that they are welcome in Canada and should sell whatever little they had in India and come here. They were poor and gullible and fell for it, and here we are! Canadian Government is FAR FAR stronger than any to-be immigrant group. Indian government pleaded with Canada to watch what kind of characters they were importing (google it)! And guess what Canada still voted for the Liberals! So who should shoulder the bulk of the blame?

This is an interesting issue. I have lived in both Brampton and Surrey, and there is some real issues with immigration. But the homeless you showed made me think about the other side of the coin, these Indian immigrants would probably do a better job feeding our own homeless if they were aware they were welcome. Things like garbage and stuff, indians have less civil duty because their own cultural issues. But they have a sense of duty of family and community. So we need to hold our goverment responsible for not handling emmigration properly, but also if have compassion and bring these people into our communities as well, then you will feel a new sense of duty from them. Its a tough issue on both sides that our goverments are forcing us the people to deal with

Housing crisis is all that comes to mind. We don't have the infrastructure to welcome anyone else, period. Let alone the people who are here illegally under false pretenses.

I don’t disagree that people on a student visa should go back once the visa expires. a lot of responsibility falls on IRCC and immigration/ government to actually have everything regulated and documented. IRCC is impossible to get a hold of. Applications open people apply.. they get in and then the government forgets about them… the students and work permit people once they land have no idea what is going on. No place to live.. mental health.. tons or restrictions. Don’t invite guest for a sleep over if there is not extra bed in your house. Say the guest then decides they can just sleep on floor or sofa and you keep letting it happen over and over with no boundaries but also just say that they are not welcome. So again it’s the person who invites the guest who is responsible for clear cut communication, deadlines etc

I'm an Indian immigrant, fully legal, we all want these fraud people to go back and only hard working and legal ones are welcomed who wants to accept the Canadian way of living.

Thank you for showcasing this city. Brampton has long been the armpit of Peel Region, and the cause of many of the rest of our issues. The new entitled migrants that come here spill out into other areas of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) spreading the crime and loitering, and essentially "taking over" certain places and causing massive issues. Our Car insurance rates in Peel are insanely high, primarily because of Brampton also being a part of Peel, and the high accident and theft rates coming out of that city. We have a massive issue here in Canada with unchecked mass immigration, and we don't see do be doing anything about removing the people who have overstayed their welcome, aswell as an issue with letting the new population move only to the same already developed places, overpopulating those areas that never had the infrastructure to support those numbers of people. Especially the households that are housing more families than just their own, the people who arent citizens that are clogging up our healthcare systems, all the jobs taken up by the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, the lack of openings in universities and colleges because of international students. Its unbelievable how much they take advantage of the system.

What no one discusses is how incredibly racist Canadians have been towards Indians for the past 100+ years. Small town Canada has never been welcoming to people of color so inevitably immigrants started creating enclaves where they feel safe. Why does every city have a Chinatown? How have Canadians treated Chinese immigrants for the past century? There’s a reason why Richmond and Vancouver have large Chinese populations - because they feel safe in numbers. I don't think Indians are particularly averse to work. They do however seem to have a different quality standard than what we're used to here in the West. There is also a more "creative" approach to societal rules that is not always compatible with Western values. I think Canadians are happy to welcome people from around the world. We just want them to adhere to the standards and traditions that made Canada they place they are trying hard to migrate TO. We have just had too many people in too short a time that it has destroyed the once solid Canadian culture.

Trump is right about one thing and that is immigration. We destroyed our country through immigration. It is a cultural universal that all people wish to live within their own communities where they feel safe because they see their neighbours as their own kith and kin. People want to live among other people who have very similar behaviours and cultural values. White western culture has been very welcoming of non white immigration, but not to the extent that the whites feel that they are being diluted out of existence by the mass immigration of foreign minorities. As an immigrant like myself, I came to study in Canada. I came to learn Canadian culture which has always been polite, humble, and friendly. Nowadays I am seeing things have changed compare with 22 years ago when I came here. I learned true Canadian cultures from my host family and my Canadian friends. Honestly, there are some immigrants who are coming to Canada who are not trying to learn and even tried to integrate into the culture. You don't come to someone's home and destroy it. You want to make yourself welcomed in Canada. Canada is an amazing country please don't destroy it. I worked hard to stay in Canada and I love this country. I heard why the government did the immigrants wrong. I was talking to an uber driver and my pharmacist. They told me the promises of luxury in Canada has and offered for them to live a better lives. They didn't know after they came here for work and or college/university they become in major debt. They said that they're in a luxury debt and never getting out of debt knowing that they're stuck in Canada and can't be allowed to leave unless they pay off the debts. That's 100 % wrong to do that to people when they know they don't feel welcomed and want to go home. I'm a metis Canadian and I had to leave Ontario to find affordability and miss my home. GOVERNMENT THIS IS YOUR FAULT AND YOU KNOW IT! Let them go home in debt. You made this mess. FIX IT! Including the baby boomers that made the problem started 8 % rate interests to buy houses. That was a mistake that should be bought 1 house and nothing else. I forgot to add something. The uber driver told me that india doesn't know that it's a debt luxury trap that you can't leave unless you pay your debt. He felt alone and found some people and the internet to make himself feel better temporary. TEMPORARY! He hates it here, but he respects Canadians. He feels sorry for the new ones that are coming to become debt trap. It's the same for the pharmacy. She got into college to be a pharmacy and bought the store. She is on low income but doesn't qualify for any supports like benefits to pay off her medical things. The reason she can't because they'll see the pharmacy store is income. Wait what? So she doesn't quilify for benefits because she's making income to pay off her massive loan to do her job. It's not enough to live by as what she told me. She also does misses home, but also traped in luxury debt. This is what I have learned so far. I went through a car accident and coudln't get out of the car. I thought in Brampton, Ontario was the rudest people on the planet, but was saved by the angels of indian people saved me out of the vehicle from the smoke. I still thank you! There is still good people out there and some are stupid people out there. Keep it up because being kind gets you to be positive to others and make things better when the world is fcked right now.

I'm a Canadian, I was born here, who knows what generation Canadian I am - my ancestors were here long before Canada was a country, later they fought for the British (one naughty son fought for the "rebels" americans and was in jail for 5 years), the monarchy granted them 100 acres in the Niagara region which was farmed by a line of my family until the 1980s when the last of that direct line sold which is tragic. blah blah - Canadian. ANYWAY - I love other people, other cultures, every immigrant that spoke in this video I welcome with open arms, would befriend, share a meal with etc. I grew up working with many people from Pakistan and India who were escaping really scary situations, worked their butts off to be part of this country, learn the language, save for a home - live a safe and happy life. Whether you're a first or 50th generation Canadian - you come here and you adapt to our wonderful way - you're a freaking Canadian. That's not happening right now. Like the video said, it's a math problem. One of my largest concerns is that now all these wonderful Canadians who have been here for a long ass time, worked their butts off to be part of the family will now be subject to violence, harassment and racist comments because this population bomb has misrepresented their intentions entirely.

I worked since I was 14, (A lot of times evenings and weekends, several times, two jobs)! I am now 63, I got hurt at work! First I had to fight compensation for a year, ZERO $$$! Then I had to apply to get Disability Canada Pension because I can't physically work anymore.. (damaged back, head injury, I have to use a cane and knee braces to walk)! I spent my savings just surviving while being forced to fight for MY money from my own government for 5 years just to get a measly $300. a month! THAT'S IT! Luckily my spouse works , we paid off our house ten years ago! But, we still barely get by! Every person I speak to about my case with the government on the phone, can barely speak English and yell at me or are VERY impatient with me, because I can't understand THEM, they usually hang up! When I ask to please speak to someone IN Canada, they hang up, then I have to wait another hour to talk to someone else! (I went to 4 government funded agencies to see if I could possibly get a job working from home, because I have trouble getting out! All sent me somewhere else! One agency who is supposed to help disabled people in WPG, REES, the agent refused to talk to me or look me in the eye, * he got a supervisor to talk to me! Because he's Muslim and I'm Gay! They were continuously hostile/aggressive towards me without reason??? I volunteer at 2 different food banks , I've met TONS of people who have never worked a day in their lives, their family, parents, grandparents have never worked... EVER! Yet they have brand new trucks??? Still go to food banks? AND, several new Canadians who I've met, have never worked a day in Canada... Some with new cars??? Yet everyone else receives 10 times what I receive to live on??? I PAID TAXES ALL OF MY LIFE! We can't afford a car! Yet... I don't blame them! I would take it they offered! I blame our government (NDP, Libs, AND CONservatives) who don't give a crap about disabled and seniors in Canada! Now im watching teens unable to gain independence unless their parents i Know someoneone who can hire them meanwhile no one can understand the person taking their order at tim hortons...Canada is to expensive now and we dont have the means to support these people anymore. Canadians have always tried to be polite and welcome immigrants. People came here for a peaceful safe lifestyle and future but our leaders have allowed too many too fast and overwhelmed the system. This is the scary truth. We Canadians are being purposefully victimized and our rights as citizens has been eroded since the last 5 years. Our restaurants are primarily from India and Pakistan. Some Indian people are here on school visas or work permits and are wonderful people and speak perfect English. They are welcome. They are Christians and nice and courteous. But there seems to be a disconnect between immigrants who come here thinking bc they are moslem they are superior and do not need to follow Cdn laws language and culture. We don't want them praying in the streets on their rugs disrupting the city. We have churches and they have mosques. They will NOT takeover our country in spite of Carney. Carney and the Liberals needs to be kicked out of office. Deport the illegals and stop immigration NOW!

When I moved here 7 years ago, Canada felt like heaven. People were respectful, culture was strong, even Tims had great customer service. I was eager to adapt, made Canadian friends, worked in a church Downtown, Barrie to assimilate. Now it feels totally different, more chaotic almost third world in parts. Honestly, I don’t blame immigrants, I blame the laws. They’re too soft, and people take advantage. Refugee protection, settlement aid, multiculturalism sounds welcoming on paper, but in practice, they’re dragging the country down.

I'm pretty much exactly where that lady in the car is at. Enough to make rent, pay my monthly cell phone bill, and internet, but the rest? Not enough for food, no emergency funds if something breaks or needs replacing, etc. Can't even save and put money away. I sat down and balanced my budget, looking at what I could keep or toss. Figured out what to do for cheapening food costs as much as I could (without doing food bank), and the most I can afford for rent is $700 a month. That's basically a room in someone's house. That's it. As an Adult, I'm disgusted it's come to this. But what angers me MOST of all, is the Landlord's I gotta argue with. Surrey, BC used to be the cheap end of Vancouver. The welfare type housing, and low-income area. Then we had this huge book of Middle Eastern people come flying in at top speed, steam roll the community and make it theirs. They bought up all the cheap housing, ripped it down even though it was not that bad of a house, then built these custom 5-6 room mini mansions. The standards for the area skyrocketed, and the cost of their mortgage is likely also sky high because of what they built... So what do they do? Rent the rooms, force people 2 to a room with no privacy, and if you WANT a private room? Nearly $1000. Oh... And let's not forget the discrimination issues. If you're not going to temple or Gudwara, forget it. If you aren't pure vegetarian, forget it. And because all the other renters are "brown" and under 30yrs old, Adults are considered unwelcome. If you have a disability and don't work, you're automatically labelled a drug user (which isn't always truth). Even if you offer proof of income, and resources or phone numbers to call, they won't bother. Too much work. This sh*t needs to stop. I look in other cities near by, and it's happening in ALL OF THEM. I cant even relocate to get away from this crap. I'm done. I have no car to live out of, so that's not an option. I'm not a drug user, never will be but and all the shelters are now "low barrier". Screw that. So now what? Go back to work with a broken lower back?? Desk job search when I should be recovering and resting? Like, the suggestions are welcome, but be realistic. I'm in constant pain on heavy duty drugs to get by right now. No spouce. No parents or friends to leech off of. I feel utterly abandoned by our government.

As a Canadian citizen I have always admired the US up until now, I sincerely wanted to move to the US to build homes and start up a company. But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. I have been to Canada several times and the people have been so warm and welcoming. It is beyond sad to see this happening.
