Are fellow Americans friends and neighbors, the Americans people are very welcome to come to Canada as are close friends, the American jerk President Trump and his idiotics cabinet and their new alliance of alleys ARE NOT WELCOME TO OUR AND YOURS COUNTRY, sadly enough, you do not have a President, you have a BULLY IN AND A CRIMINAL AT BEST, TRYING TO RUIN THIS WORLD OF OURS, we all need to work together on getting this world of ours back together,

It is sad that one man can drive such a deep wedge between two countries. Herr Trump has proven himself to be completely untrustworthy to all American allies, not just Canada. The pain he insists on inflicting on American allies will not soon be forgotten. Hopefully American voters who suffer from unnecessary high inflation and job loses will not forget either. Buckle up for a bumpy ride.

I AM CANADIAN. And sad to say I and my family were Trump supporters through halfway through his first term. The BS and blantent vugar talk from his mouth and now criminal conviction was enough. But now that I see Elon Musk , Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezzos and other billionaires in his shady corner I knew something wasnt right! And after how President Zelenskyy was treated, disgusting right for the news to see on purpose. Your President is way too close to Putin and who knows what other countries. Trump, and his cronies want the spoils and treasures of Canada, Mexico, Ukraine and Gazza! BTW Trump your welcome from Canada ?? for helping putting out your fires in California! Well spoken Mr Trudeau. I am proud to be Canadian. I feel sad for both countries. Can't believe that no judge is declaring the National Security argument as unjustified. I thought this was not possible to impose this without voting it properly if national security is not a real threat under the US constitution... And the argument of trade deficit is such a weird concept. Would Trump agenda be more evil here, and use economic force to force Canada to annex them because they want our resources?

Well, Americans can hear first-hand that Canada has gone above and beyond to maintain a peaceful, productive alliance. This will hurt the working class people in all countries associated, but the working class Americans more than any other group. \n\nThis is a sad day in world history.

The real reason for the tariffs is because it has never been fair for the United States we pay more taxes for products in Canada in Mexico in Europe and it's always been like that and it's sad that it has to come to this in order for everybody to pay their fair share. I live in Nashville, TN USA. I am so sorry Canada is suffering due to Trump. I do not support this move on Trump's part. I never voted for him. I have known for many years he is a dangerous narcissist. Canada is our friend. You have come to our aide in times of trouble. Our forest fires, 911 when the planes hit our twin towers. Trump wants a 4.5 Trillion dollar tax cuts for the wealthy. He sees tariffs as a way to make up some of that money alone with huge budget cuts to many of our programs. Trump is an unreasonable person who only thinks about himself. I hope he will eventually be impeached. I do not blame Canada. I blame Donald Trump and the the Republican Congress. This is a coupe going down in our country and it is sad to watch. Take good care.

I agree with Canada in every statement said here. It’s sad that Americans have allowed themselves to be manipulated by one man. As an American I say to Canada and Mexico, do what you need. We don’t see this as an attack on us, but as a response to an attack by Trump on your countries. I used to wonder how Hitler was able to convince so many to follow him. What Trump seems to try to get at most is the unfair act of the USMCA. Most trades benefited Canada, while Canada refused to provide the same fair trades. Sometimes Trump does say things that may have gone off track like fentyl handling on Canada's end and border handling. It seems like our borders at the time were less strict on the American side versus the Canadian side of the border. Trump did state multiple times that most countries like Canada were unfair to USA. Even with the USMCA, America got screwed by Mexico as will. America has been there helping and supporting and submitting to every country. Yet failed to support our own people when we need it, especially to clear up our own debts. Sadly, America is falling behind due to poor handling of Government Democrat corruption. I am neutral as both parties don't always provide the best solution for everyone. You have to pick who can help the American people. Seeing how corrupt the Democrats has ran America and the defacto behind of all the wars and money laundering has surprised me, and I hope the change with Trump will help everyone realize how screwed we all are in correcting those corruption that isn't really needed.

Canada is being too gentle in its initial response. Why not go full throttle right from the get go. It’s shameful what “the most powerful country in the world”,”the land of the free” or whatever arrogant nickname the USA wants to go by. It's sad that liberals think Trump isn't doing this because all these countries have been ripping us off. Do you think he's doing this for fun? Get yourselves off the corporate media. We are done being the world police and we are done getting ripped off by politicians that take money to look the other way when trade deals dont favor us at all. 30 trillion in debt. We cant continue to subsidize Europe and Canada.

Like Russia, Canada has key strategic resources and huge oil and gas reserves. The west could not cause the collapse of the Russian economy after it invaded Ukraine because of that key fact. Canada will eventually find other markets for its natural resources. This is a sad fact as integrating our economy with the U.S. has been a great benefit to both countries. You buy our natural resources, we buy your manufactured goods. Too bad, this administration does not see this simply reality. Don't get me wrong, Canada will suffer MORE than the U.S. as our economy is much smaller, but it will survive and once it decouples its economy from that of the U.S., it will be fine. The U.S. on the other hand is breaking treaties with longtime allies and isolating itself on the world stage. It is squandering its place as world leader and world superpower. This is how a leader should speak. He speaks with sincerity and with clarity. He doesnt speak broadly just to an entire audience. It seems sad that it took an action such as the one the US government had to do, to make Canada realize that we should work together as provinces and as people. Canada knew very well that our big brother in the south has been fiscally hurting since years and had been racking up enormous government, corporate and private citizen debt. If this were to continue it would pull down every single country in the world. Perhaps if the US is becoming fiscally responsible, truly eliminate fraudulent and unnecessary spending and refocus on their local economy (just like China has been doing in the last years) the rest of the world and even Canada can finally focus on their strength and local markets. After all, don't we all miss our local stores, local artisans, vibrant neighborhoods with diverse businesses and a pride in having made in our own country? May I say that this Trump era will give the whole planet a new perspective for changing our ways, reliance on others and taking the easy and greedy road!

Canadian here....appreciate JT's message, and stand by him in this situation, but sadly know that our long friendly relationship with the USA does not matter at all to this administration. JT's message does not matter to that administration, or their MAGA followers. Fentanyl from Canada isn't a real issue - in fact, significantly more comes into Canada from the USA, along with guns, than the other way around - but that fact doesn't matter at all to the administration or their MAGA followers. Facts and logic are not involved in this. Canadians are quiet and peaceful people who are proud of their country, and we are coming together over this shared cause. We will weather this and be stronger as a country for it.
