It will be tough for both sides, the US and Canada. But the Canadian government has its people's support, while the majority of US citizens do not support Trump and his government. The US will be a sad, lonely planet in the middle of the world. Shame!

As a Canadian citizen I have always admired the US up until now, I sincerely wanted to move to the US to build homes and start up a company. But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. Both countries benefited from having a good relationship and now the great US has no one willing to challenge Mr Trump on this idiotic move, America is alienating themselves from a lot of countries and regular Americans are the ones who are going to suffer from this fall-out, the rich won't be affected but regular working class folks your stress is going to get a whole lot worse and that's unfortunate. First acknowledge that a country has the right to control its borders. The US has lost its Aircraft industry (Boeing), its Car industry (Detroit) and now its Semiconductor industry (Intel). Millions of unscreened people are infiltrating. Trump is trying. In the case of Canada and Mexico tariffs are counter-productive. Its tough to turn a declining empire around. His strategy is to tax foreign goods instead of taxing US resources and to force local production. The US citizen pays either way.

Historically, tariffs have been imposed to support production of American goods. Think cotton, steel, other raw materials the U.S. used to produce in past centuries. For the past several decades, America has not produced many raw materials because it's cheaper to buy them from countries who can pay their workers less to keep the cost of production low. It's impossible to quickly begin producing these things here, so Trumplethinskin's tariffs will do nothing but piss off our trading partners and dramatically increase the prices Americans pay for a long list of essential goods. I see a major recession coming soon. If your goal was to close American car plants because the parts are too expensive and make it impossible for U.S. citizens to afford to feed their families, you've achieved it, King Donald ?

As an American Donald Trump was a mistake. It's time for the American people to wake up and admit their mistakes. An inflated ego is not good.
