Could Canada Win a Trade War?\n Trump has waged Economic War on Canada in order to bring us to our knees so that we will eventually capitulate to become the 51st state.\n\n Had he come in a nice way, as a friend verses a foe, he would have had a lot more interest, especially from Alberta. \n\n Now that we are here, the question has to be asked, can we actually win a trade war that has probably been extensively war-gamed by the U.S.?\n\n Our politicians want us to go toe to toe with a 900 lb gorilla. The U.S. economy is at least 10 times our size and are less dependent on our trade than we are. We may give them a black eye but they could rip our arms and legs off. \n\n Retaliatory tariffs play into their hands. It’s the perfect excuse to increase the tax to 50 or 100%. So will we do the same? This would devastate us, achieving their goals.\n\n Canadians are already fighting back without the government making things worse. People are boycotting U.S. goods en masse and cancelling travel plans, etc. and this is already having a strong effect.\n\n Some say turn off the electricity and oil, but who will pay price? It will be the businesses and employees, not the politicians who are now trying to act tough. If we want this to turn into a real kinetic war, then turning off the taps may do it. \n\n We have seen countless times where politicians tell us what we want to hear, making us think they are heading is a certain direction, only to find they do the exact opposite. This proves you can not believe what career politicians say and have to go by what they do, or don’t do, instead. Yet now, they confidently declare that Canada will never become the 51st state. This should raise eyebrows. \n\n Almost all of the MPs and Premiers are unanimous in entering into a trade war we can not win. And all those shock and awe executive orders etc. could come back to haunt him like a boomerang thumping his head.\n\nNever in my wildest imagination would I ever imagine Canadians harboring bad feelings towards the USA! Tariffs on Canada would likely reduce real gross domestic product to zero in 2025 if implemented beyond a year and lead to a 2% contraction in 2026 with a peak unemployment rate of more than 8%. Trump told Canada if you did TWO THINGS, there would be no tariffs on Canada. One, stop illegal immigrants from pouring into the USA from Canada. Two, stop illegal drugs from coming into the USA from Canada. Did Trudeau comply with President Trump's request? If so, there must be a lack of communication to verify what has transpired. If not, then Trump imposed tariffs for lack of compliance. Now, if Canada has already complied yet the Trump admin imposed tariffs anyway, then that is a slap in the face to our neighbors to the north and the American people should be outraged and let Trump know it.

Im not so sure of the info coming across. Ive seen staggering numbers of immigrants coming north from the US into Quebec and Ontario for a number of years. Quebec had to set up shelters and programs to accommodate how many were coming up into Canada. Watching the RCMP helping them come into Canada, taking their luggage and guiding them Those officers should be charged with being an accomplice to a crime.. that would stop the police from helping bring them in... Maybe it changed and now they are going south?.. but getting to Canada isnt as simple as coming up through warmer weather countries and going south in Winter would be a major issue through snow and weather. It used to be known that at certain times during the day, various border crossing points weren’t manned just open. I can almost guarantee that’s not happening anymore. Years ago I was coming home from Montreal and waited for someone to come out and check my paperwork and license, someone heading north shouted over that no one was there until 6 so just go. I shouted back that I thought someone had to check my car and paperwork. The other guy said if you’re not worried about your stuff being checked, just go. I seriously waited weeks to hear something about it, nope, crickets…
