My family came from Japan in 2007 (I had just turned 13). I have spent the second half of my life in Canada, turned 30 yesterday and got married in Vancouver last weekend the, graduated high school in Vancouver, got my PharmD degree in Nova Scotia. My family owns businesses in Vancouver and my parents are selling EVERYTHING and leaving. They abruptly dropped this news last month. My husband and I have already made our plans to leave too and already own a home in Japan, because we were returning for the last trimester of my pregnancy, but decided we are not returning to Canada. We will stay in Japan for about 5 years, then relocate, depending on western politics \n\nI am sad because Canada became my home, and my parents have added soo much to the Vancouver economy, and created numerous jobs for Canadians.

I agree with you leaving. I am a 3rd generation retired Canadian who used to be proud to be so. Now I am not, in fact I am embarrassed to say I am Canadian as it is nothing to be proud of. I think of how good things were in the 70's and 80's while I was young and now how bad things are today and it is truly depressing. Back then if you are willing to work, you could make a decent living, buy a car, a house and raise a family - today, good luck with that. The people in the west have had no say in the faulty governments we have had as Ontario and Quebec have put the final nails in our coffin when they elected that buffoon JT for a third consecutive term and then the NDP kisses his butt to join up and torture us more when most sane Canadians did not ask for this. JT is truly an embarrassment for this country although the US is in step with comatose Joe. I feel sorry for the kids and many others that are trying to survive, make a living and buy houses. Reverse discrimination has been at play for 20 years or so but is really out of control these days when a white Canadian kid that has got 5 yr honours degree in University has trouble finding a job today because you are the wrong colour. Our national anthem was changed a number of years back for no good reason. Immigrants are being imported by this idiot called our PM and handed out living accommodations, jobs and our hard earned $$ that he stole from us while our own people fall deeper into the quagmire. Many of these immigrants are bringing their hatreds and views with them to are country and are causing chaos. We are heavily taxed for driving our cars and heating our houses on FALSE pretenses with the govt saying it is to save the world - nice try - BS. The government and schools are pushing the alphabet children protocol per the WEF. These are just a few things that are wrong with this country that is sinking quicker than the Titanic. Everything this country stood for is now gone. It is so obvious to anyone that doesn't consume the main stream medias programming what is going on here (and when you do look at it you see how ridiculous what they report, how they report, they are no longer reporters but merely reading the scripts they have been handed by the powers that be) , however there are far too many people with their faces in their phones that are zombies today which is what the governments want. Good luck to you and anyone else left that is sane. Unfortunately too many people are simply programmed beyond repair and will continue to keep their faces buried in their phones, consume the garbage the main stream media is pushing on behalf of the powers that be and continue to vote to keep the same idiots in power.

Welcome to the ex-pat club. I left Canada 14 years ago. Talking to people I still keep in touch with in Canada I realize just after Trudeau got in power that Canada has changed. I suggest if you plan on a move do your research on where you are thinking of moving to. Do not rely on a vacation as they are very different than actually living in a place. I speak from experience. Do I get homesick? Yes but right now I would not even think of moving back to Canada. I am very settled and happy living in the EU even with the problems here. Some things to check out are various cities or towns in various regions of a country, healthcare, schools if you have children, cost of running a car (petro, insurance, etc), price of food, utilities, etc. If your work papers or degrees are accepted, what visas you will need. Once you have made a decision, start learning the language. I could do it anyone can do it.

Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

For people who complain about Canada and wanna move back think twice, thrice and n more number of times.\nLife is expensive here and it's cheap nowhere. Taxes are high but the benefits are worth it. In my country, I gave up 30% of my salary purely for my children's school and bus fare, which is torally free of cost here.\n\nI was well versed with my local language and had a specialist dentist degree but still no job, whereas here even a mere DDS (undergraduate dentist) with poor English mints money.\n\nWhen i was jobless this country bore with me 70% of my family's total expenditure thru benefits and schooled plus comfortably yet freely transported my child which none of our home countries ever did (even Govt schools in my country charge a minimal fee and pupils' standard is deplorable).\nSo, yes, Canada is not a bed of roses to start with, but we never came from a bed of roses ?\n\nAnd one final note to people praising the US - ATLEAST I CAN VISIT A SHOPPING MALL IN CANADA AT PEACE THAT I WONT BE SHOT AT ?

I was born in Canada in the 80s. My parents are from India. So call me racist if it gets you off. My ass is browner than yours probably. \nMy parents, and my uncles and aunts who came here in the late 1970s had to work their asses off to prove they were worthy of even ENTERING Canada, let alone to live in the country. ALL of my older male relatives who came to Canada at that time had a PhD in a science related field or was a medical doctor. EVEN then, they had to go through years of re-training in Canadian schools in order to have a shot at PR. And they persevered and did it, and did well. \nNow, anyone and their dog is allowed in, and it's kind of an insult to all my relatives had to accomplish in order to build a life here. They had to earn doctorates and medical degrees TWICE (once in India and again in Canada).\nWell, that generation did well, and now we're the kids who are grateful and enjoying the sacrifice they put in. What will the kids of illiterate, minimum wage workers be like? Probably not so good.\nCanada's probably done. But does the average Canadian have any desire to do anything. Nope. They used to value hard work and ambition when I was growing up but Canadian culture has become lack of ambition, and entitlements just for existing. \nSo, at least I was raised with the idea of working to no end and sacrificing in order to accomplish something in life. Im a 10 gen canadian. Have a skilled trade under my belt. They say theres a shortage. But i can't get a job. Applying for jobs all across canada still nothing. But it seems these immigrants can just walk straight into these job no experience or training. Ive even gone back to school. Struggle with the writting side of the courses. But the people who dont understand a word of english pass with 90's. So i know have 2 degrees and on the job experience with a skilled trade. And still cant even get an interview after putting out hundreds of resumes. But the walk in and get hired on the spot. Not fair at all

This is not totally an Indian issue. The government lied to them and scam them working with school for profit and putting them into debts. They let too many people and crash the housing economy and job economy. All for votes they thought they could get from these people. The real Canadians are suffering and left behind. Going to a canadian community collage as a international student is wild. We don't need anyone with a 2 year business degree, and there is no prestige to getting a Canadian diploma. India/China have great schools. Wecome the Uni/Masters/Doctorate students, leave the rest.

Why do they come to Canada, if not for the benefits? Why do these countries not set up their own Universities, where former international students go back home and teach their country and students what they learned here. It would be cheaper for them, and they can stay in their own country. But, they don't want to do that as they see Canada as the country of opportunities to bring their whole extended families here. We are already facing housing shortages, and don't need any of this type of opportunistic citizenships. They need to drastically cut the amount of foreign students allowed in. This year they are allowing 485,000 students. This does not take into account the students who are in high school or those studying for their master’s or doctoral degree's. In total it is 552,000. Then add on the Immigrants at 485,000, illegals or asylum claims( which is at record high numbers, could not find the figures for this year), then the migrant workers which are estimated between 700k to 900k. This is all too much. Drastic cuts need to be made, and this government that allowed all that to happen needs to be ousted out.

Canada sucks. Lived here my whole life. 34 years near Toronto. Here's a list of other stuff not mentioned.\n1) terrible school system. Basically go private or subject your kids to liberal ideology and creative learning which puts math and literacy scores at a 20 year low.\n2) terrible Healthcare system. You can wait in line for 1 hour at a walk in clinic. 6 hours at emergency. There's hardly any doctors working.\n3) terrible transit. The public transit is outdated. The roads are always busy with 3 year long construction projects. They actively reduce road lanes to add in bicycle lanes, that are only uses half the year because no one rides a bicycle in -10 degree C. But yeah, we'll still plow the bike lane with tax payer $.\n4) increase in crime. More recent development but lets say it started picking up during the lockdowns in 2020. A lot of immigrants that don't give a f about the law. They don't give a f about the police. They get out on bail the next day. They do crime in broad daylight. It's insane. I don't feel safe. Plus, it's hard to own firearms in canada. You can't protect yourself.\n5) no cultural cohesion. The culture sucks. Bland, boring, fake.\n\nHonestly, stay away from Canada. The only thing it had going for it was it polite and safe. But now it's a crime spree out there. Last I heard, 55 car jacking happen everyday.

I have a theory; US lottery gave PR through a random selection, it allowed ourliers who otherwise will not qualify to get PR and move to america, these are the ones that start business and do random stuff that diversify and boost the economy. Canada PR system is based on point selection, points are earned from degree, work, language etc, this brings a specific type of people, people good in classroom, obedient people who look good on paper, these group are not risk takers, they will find a job, go back to school and struggle for the same type of opportunities. this places pressure on the system to cater to them. We have a shortage of doctors and nurses, among other specialties. This according to the Trudeau regime itself. So can somebody explain the logic of giving away medical and nursing school placements to foreign students who will take their degree and return to their country? \n\nIn my basic understanding, if I have a shortage of something, I dedicate my capacity to filling the shortage, not to selling my capacity for money. Good at the end of the day, we don’t need to defund things like police, what we need is to defund school. At this point, it’s a useless system that’s been overdated. The matter is more about making sure that Canadians who wants to go to post-high-school degrees shouldn't have to be drowned in debts in order to get the career of their dream. I'm Canadian who took the same decision a few years ago, I've wasted 13 years of my life in Canada, I lost my money, skills, motivations that I brought with me. I left my grown up children there because I can't sell my values to get some Canadian dollars. We went to Canada to help and to have freedom, not to be discriminated and get hired in low-level jobs. I'm happy that I left and I enjoy the sunny weather most of the year in my home country even if I have little money. It was a wrong decision to be in Canada especially after I've seen high-school graduates got hired in positions that I've Bachelor's degree can't get it. I've been graduated from a Canadian college but still can't get those jobs. It's not acceptable to be a second-degree citizen just to get a blue passport.

I'm not Muslim but I have family and extended family that are. I'm in Ireland, there is a large Muslim community in Dublin. My grand nephew's is named Salah. He is adorable, they spend most of the year in Kuwait and school breaks in Ireland. Can I just say, most 'normal' people, regardless of religion share the views you have expressed here, on every count. Best wishes on your travels. Maybe you could check out Ireland. This information is false and is dangerous for international students. No university can guarantee you PR, and your reasoning for pursuing a post-secondary degree should not be to gain PR. Just because a school is a DLI does not mean you are guaranteed PR; you need to meet all of the other eligibility requirements.

You are indeed great. I have been written off bc l had 3rd class in my first degree on secretarial Administration. I went in for a post graduate diploma in sociology had an upper credit. I went in for masters in dept of sociology(option- peace and conflict studies) had an upper credit. I want to go in for a PhD but don't know a school that will accept me. Would go in for any other good course outside sociology pls for 2024 academic session.

What is actually causing the problems in Canada is PRECISELY the expectations of a high standard of living absolutely everyone has, including brand new immigrants. Who as if they were owed a palace immediately begin complaining about the work they have to do and the fact they're not immediately appointed the king of Canada. To put simply, we have an incredibly spoiled population, a population that expects low prices for everything and has a terrible productivity overall and does not wish to work in the kinds of jobs that every economy needs in order to fuel everything else. Food production is the so-called inceptive value. The more food you produce, the more people can consume it, and this in turn flows through the economy to enable all the other kinds of economic activity. We have to bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers from Mexico just to be able to harvest. In the past, Canada allowed immigration from all over the world of people who were mostly poor, refugees, and those desperate for a new life. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. Criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. This is the brilliant system brought in by Stephen Harper's conservatives, which brings in people with high education, and allegedly high skills, especially high language skills, so the government doesn't have to pay for their language training, but it doesn't consider the fact that these are very often people with other choices, who are not willing to work in construction or farming or service or retail or all those kinds of things that we desperately need workers in. The reason why we can't build enough housing has nothing to do with local governments and property values. It has to do with lack of labor. This education system, for some unbeknowned reason, is absolutely terrible, and provides basically no skills, training or education for the vast majority of high school students such that when they graduate high school, their forced to go to university or college. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. Other than emotional safety, intersectional language, and wokeism. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Property and so they oppose everything on account of environmental reasons. But it's just to keep people out and preserve their own privileged place. This country also as most others suffers from the illness of dishonesty and lack of integrity brought about by a culture of marketers where nothing is the way it is said to be. Everything is a fine print. And we have gotten used to this as normal. We've gotten used to having credit cards, charges, 25% interest, we've gotten used to being ripped off constantly by all the corporations for everything, and nobody complains and they just borrow more and they just bottle it in and now it's finally coming out. I teach ESL so I talk with a lot of newcomers and immigrants as part of my job. The case of one of my students sticks out in my mind. She originally came here from Ukraine because of the war. She wants to get PR status because she wants to settle here and make a life for herself and her family. She was explaining the process to me and she seemed really caught in a Catch 22. She held advanced degrees in mathematics and economics already, but in order to qualify here she would need to go back to school, which would require a different visa than the one she was here on. She was working, but at a low paying job where she was just making ends meet. So she has to decide whether to go back or stay, basically because of bureaucracy and no other reason. She was strongly considering going back home because of how expensive the cost of living is here. And I can't say I blame her. I was born here and if I had the resources, I would move. I would love to move abroad because the standard of living in most European countries is so much better.

No wonder everything is getting so expensive and housing and rent is going through the roof. almost 1/2 million new residents a year? Where is all the infrastructure and housing for that coming from? The gov needs to put the brakes on immigration and lets things stabilize for a while jesus. Almost every Liberal policy is like a perfect storm for making this country unaffordable for the average Canadian. \nIf you're going to let people in let it be only in job markets we need like high skilled workers, and especially doctors and nurses. And dear god help those doctors and nurses get appropriately accredited before giving them citizenship. Our system needs people who can work in the system not people who got their degree or diploma in some flyby night school. I see way to many people at my workplace trying to get jobs with fake diplomas or degrees. Those people need to be deported ASAP! They lied to get here and they are lying to employers. Sorry no sympathy there.

Just one example how messed up Canada is to be a doctor (gp) it you have to study 10 years do a degree and then study onther 5 years while every other country only needs 5 years of study after leaving school.

Canada is Commonwealth country. I have a law degree, called to the English bar. Canada, wanted to disregard my qualifications, literally would've had to start law school over. Fuq that n fuq them

I saw your video and remembered when I came to the USA as a refugee in 2003. It was a tough ride. I had to take three buses to go to work. I also shared an apartment with a young girl from Kenya. It will get better. Hang in there and keep your eyes on Jesus. Today, I am a United States Citizen, I have two bachelors degrees ( Nursing/Psychology). I am now in school for my Masters in Nursing while establishing my own business. I own my home and no longer have to take the bus- I own two cars. Sister, surround yourself with positive people and don't focus on the negative. IT WILL GET BETTER.❤❤❤

I don't know why every other country wants to come to america like america is great. americans are working just to be broke. it's shame 1 job isn't enough to take care of ourselves. 2 jobs is just getting by. And if you want to have a high paying job you have to work your ass off for that. going to school and earning degrees but then you have to work to pay school fees as well. America is really not that great.

You never mentioned the real reason for Canada's immigration policies. The stated goal of 100 million by the turn of the century. 50 million by 2050. We don't need computer specialists or foreign doctors, we need iron workers, framers, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and especially bricklayers. \nFor example in the case of Doctors: We just need to approve foreign university trained degrees of Canadians who can't get into Canadian Medical Schools and instead go offshore. \nOur Canadian Universities need to ween themselves off the quick cash Liberal Arts teets and focus more on STEM and Small Business occupational training

This is why I'm very adamant on my dreams to work in the US. I'm a US citizen because I was born there when my dad went to school for his doctorate degree. I feel very lucky to have that, and that is why I have a dream to live and work there. I know applying for a residence and work permit is a very difficult process to do. I would feel very stupid not to take this chance to live and work in the US.\nAfter a few setbacks of me not being able to go to college there (my parents wouldn't let me because they're not sure of letting me living alone there even though we have a relative there), my parents finally let me go there for work. I just now finished my masters degree, I hope I can make it there as well.
