Getting immediate quick help in life-threatening situations isn't always the case either. And the attention in hospitals in Canada aren't always that great. My daughter is born in Bolivia where me and my wife are born and grown up . Later we had a son born in Canada, I was really really disappointed we got no better care as we did in the hospital. And comparing our daughter born in Bolivia was premature by C-section and costed beauty over 2000 USD , our son was C-section in Canada costing 18000 CA$ . Based on the attention gotten in both places I had no doubt left of where I'd choose to have the next child .

Canada is a beautiful country and every place has it's perks and negative aspects. Have seen much of the eastern side of Canada and loved every place. Maybe one day I will be able to see the western side. Boy is this country big. Lived in Europe for a few years and visited so much places in so many countries where I have done pretty much the same distance in Canada and did not see half of the country yet.

Not sure where you got your info On Quebec but, housing in Montreal is unaffordable right now with the average rent for a three and a half apt is going for 1000.00 a month. If you can even find one. There are hundreds of families being put up in hotels by the city because they can't afford the rents or no appt available because of the greedy condo developers are turning everything into useless unaffordable condo's The houses are way out of reach for most young couples because the salaries here haven't been following the cost of living. We are the highest taxed province in all of Canada. They would slap a tax on air if they could. Yes Quebec is by far the most historical and beautiful province, but the language war and the divide that this has caused doesn't make it a friendly place. And let's not even touch the healthcare system. But after watching this , Nova scotia sounds like an amazing place to live. Food for thought.

I immigrated to Canada as a young child with my parents and hold dual citizenship (EU). Personally, the main reason why I still remain in Canada is because of the nature. I really value the vast expanses of untamed forest, the impressive lakes and endless hiking, trekking and canoeing opportunities. You can do all of those things in Europe, of course, but because the population density is so much higher, it's hard to get a beautiful pristine spot all to yourself (unless maybe you're in Scandinavia). And you're never too far off from a town. Whereas in Canada, it can be hundred of kms before you reach a town! If I were more turned on by city life, I'd probably have moved back to Europe a long time ago. There are some nice and aesthetically pleasing portions of certain cities in Canada (i.e Montreal), but overall cities here are not as beautifuland stimulating as their European counterparts. But that's just my opinion :-)

Everytime I look at Canada I tell myself wow, what a beautiful country, but then I realized how depressing life is here in Canada. As an immigrant I have so many thing to be thankful for living in Canada,but also so many more things why I am planning to leave. Housing is unexplainablly expensive, cost of living is going too high for wags to catch up, drug problem visible in every city, mediocre jobs , unwilling government that has zero Desire to make this country grow to its full potential the list is endless. I will always love Canada, but life here isn't as good as it's portrayed to be. People just live so they can work so they can live to work again and can't even break even, many are too depressed and end up on drugs rising homelessness.

As if you would rate the province of Quebec as #1! And yes, one had better learn French living there and forget about using English. This is the province where the October Crisis of 1970 took place. This is the province where English signs are on their way out. The Rock Machine biker gang started here, second only to the Hells Angels. This province bucks what others do, in many ways. For instance, if you marry in this province and you are a woman, the marriage license, unlike other provinces, doesn't allow you to change your birthname to that of your husband. Personally, I think that's a good rule, but I think it would tick off a lot of people. And this province makes no concession to being bilingual. They prefer French only. They're often wanting to separate from the rest of Canada. They will not allow certain types of workers from out of province to work in Quebec. Is it beautiful? Yes, very, but there is much beauty in all of Canada.

I lived everywhere in Canada except the Territories, Manitoba, and N.B., and I always come back to Quebec. It's NOT that it's better in everything. It's just that it's better in everything that counts for ME!!!\n- It's the CHEAPEST place to rent or own but has great wages and a high minimum. \n- Most of our cities are in the St-Lawrence valley. That means we have a LOT of local produce in-season. \n- We have a diversified economy. Less manufacturing and heavy stuff than Ontario, but LOTS of high-tech and knowledge-based jobs. With a HUGE service industry, bloated by the constant influx of tourists.\n- It's got the BEST quality of social life in the country. It's an all-year party and club season. \n- It's got FOUR real and distinct seasons.\n- It's almost as beautiful outside as BC. Until autumn and the colors, then it's better for a few weeks.\n- It's got the BEST social net in the country. \n- It's got the most beautiful women too. No question whatsoever about that one.\nAnd it's the SAFEST... That and being cheap to live in are the two main points. I'm bilingual, so I don't care about the French-only oddities, they are few and far between. It's 2021, not 1980. The Internet and Cable tv from the US changed EVERYTHING. ALL of the kids and young adults will answer you in English if you aren't acting like a jerk. So will almost anyone under 60.

I’d love to visit Atlantic Canada: all my friends here on the West Coast say it’s very nice. \nI loved living in Quebec and Montreal, but both cities are very cold in winter—and I don’t speak no french too good, hoste! \nI’m from Ontario. it probably was a beautiful place until white people got there. But it’s way too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Most of my family has moved out to the West Coast. I guess they missed me.\nManitoba is very nice, but you’re right about cold winters and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Winnipeg is a fantastic city. The biggest city on the North American Plains.\nSouthwest Saskatchewan is absolutely beautiful. Nuff said.\nAlberta is one of my favourite provinces—just too bad about the goofy government they got there. I lived and worked there lots over the years. I live in Manitoba, definitely number 10 lol and the winters are worse than described, but the amount of beautiful parks and lakes we have would place us 2nd or 3rd in that category. Also we have the highest homicide rate in Canada.

Having been all around this great big beautiful country, while I love Quebec because it is like a cheap and easily convenient flight to Western Europe, I'd say that the Maritimes are the hidden gem and heart of Canada.\n\nAnd after having seen all of Canada, I always felt that if I was Prime Minister, I would make it a law that every citizen would have a free VIA train ticket, good for the rest of their life, to see the entire country. At least once.

Living cost is high compared with usa. For example, Eggs in the states is $1.24 for 24 eggs, in canada its $4.5. Housing is around $150k for 3 bedrooms in the state, and it's $700k in ottawa ?. Not sure how anyone can offord it. \nAnyways, it's beautiful country ?? ? ?? ? ??

Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

I took all my money out of Canadian banks and moved it to Morocco.\nYou can buy a condo on the beach for $70,000 - $100,000. \n\nThe further up north you go the more it costs. \nCheck out Casablanca beautiful city. After over a year a little bit finally I was able to travel to Canada just this week. I damn ate 6 Poutine in 3 days lol . (Quebec Province) . I hope restrictions get smoother in near future. Like drop the PCR test if we are driving. But all good. Thank you Canada for giving us beautiful dish such Poutine <3 .

It’s too bad you didn’t have a great experience in Canada. It’s a beautiful country to live and work in. Study, get a good job and work hard and you’ll get good benefits. Medical system is worth every penny and more. Weather varies greatly. West Coast is the best. Yes, it does rain. But everything is green. But with climate change, it is quickly changing. \n\nSo if you’re willing to put in the effort and patience. All good things will come in time. Even if the taxes kill you.

This White Canadian way is what needs to leave Canada. I would love to explore the Northern part of the continent I live on, but the colonial country of Canada just has a disgusting influence on this region of the world. Would rather travel in Russia or Northern Europe at this point. Forget about me moving there. I left Canada to have a better life overseas some years ago, and I'm very happy with my life now. I grew up in Toronto and moved to Vancouver with my family later on, but neither places had weather conditions we wanted. Toronto winter is too long and Vancouver has depressing non-stop rain for six months. On top of all that, everything there got way too expensive to live and everything is too slow... Did I mention endless road constructions everywhere since forever ago? Well, some of us tried very hard to stay but sometimes migrating can help. \nCanada is definitely a beautiful country, but beauty isn't what makes our lives happy in reality.

I'm from SE Asia and my sister working in US of A has been encouraging me to apply to US or Canada. Ngl I was really tempted by the hype but then I started thinking if the grasses are greener as advertised. Sure Canada is vast with beautiful sceneries and has stronger passport power, but to give up my job, my friends, and my roots and gamble it out there? 10 years ago, sure! Canada is a beautiful place to live. But it's hard to find a job. If you don't know anyone in high places there is no promotions and it depends on your culture. I would suggest to make a life in Canada and go back to your country of birth. It's hard for housing and to own a home in Canada...Government need to do more regarding housing for low income families and single parents...

I went to Canada for a student exchange program. Before going I had that rosy image that “Canada is a heaven” that is shown in my country. But I was disillusioned in just a couple of months. I was so happy when I left Canada- 4 months were enough to get sick of it. It’s a beautiful country and I would travel to Canada again and again but I can never have a life there. I’d rather work hard to build my own business in my country, get wealthy and travel the world. Natural beauty of Canada is spellbinding!

It is such a shame that follow Asians and even American Natives play such a role in perpetuating racism against African descent people, but I guess they have their issues of identity. My parents and my little sister moved 3 years ago in Quebec, I went there once to visit and it was actually a beautiful place to be. I'm french so we don't really have the same mindset BUT we get used to it. People are kinda nice and there is so much stuff to do ^^ I plan to go back visit them but also to visit Toronto and Vancouver. It'll be fun.
