Thanks Lynn for bringing this up. I am a Kenyan living in Canada. You highlighted the most important thing- due diligence. There are a lot of people that come here with a promise of a better life and the notion is that it’s instant. I want to confirm to you that it’s better life, but it’s not instant. You have to put in the work and prove your worth. You have to gain Canadian experience to get a decent job. Also be ready to go back to school and upgrade your skills. There are jobs here zinaitwa Trades. These are the jobs that we don’t value at home but pay amazingly well here. Construction, Electricians, Plumbers, Mechanics, Carpentry, Welding, Hairdressers, Tailors.. Those are very valued skills here- if you can invest in learning these trades but pia ukikuja hapa you have to convert your certs to Canadian ones by doing an exam or going back to school . If you are into office jobs, make sure you have market relevant skills that align to this country. Be ready to embrace the digital revolution and mpende hesabu. Accounting is very much valued here. The secret is be ready to start from the bottom, be ready to upgrade yourself, be ready to work like you’ve never worked before… You will make it eventually .. Mungu mbele! \nI am confirming that we are going through a recession here and as per the market trends, it’s only going to get worser until we get to a point of stabilization. The housing market is crazy, food costs and gas (fuel)costs are off the roof .. it’s not easy. So if you have a good job in Kenya, hold onto it for now until things get better ( due diligence /research) .. Make sure you have the right visa that allows you to work here. That visitors visa theory is not working anymore. \nOverall Canada is a good country with lots of opportunities but it’s not for the faint hearted. \nLastly, be prepared for the harsh winters and days of severe loneliness- Si lakini ni life? Kila nchi ina challenges zake. God bless!

Blame TRUDEAU for bringing in all THE FAKE REFUGEES AND GIVING THEM THE SHELTERS AND GOVERNMENT FUNDED APARTMENTS, AND PRODUCING BABIES LIKE FACTORIES AND GETTING ALL THE FREE GOVT MONEY AND NEVER WORKED ONE DAY IN CANADA. THEY ARE LIVING THE RICH LIFE IN CANADA.\n\nCANADA SHOULD HAVE THEM SIGN A LEGAL DOCUMENT THAT THEY CANNOT RETURNED TO THEIR COUNTRIES THAT THEY APPLIED FOR FAKE REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS. AMERICA HAS THAT LAW. IN A AMERICA THEY HAVE TO PUT ALL THEM BABIES AND CHILDREN IN DAYCARE, GET WORK PERMITS ASAP AND FIND JOBS. AGE DOES NOT MATTER. STOP SUCKING MONEY FROM THE TAX PAYERS.\n\nEXTREMELY SAD

Being in diaspora, i can't put this kind of info to my people in kenya because they believe i don't want people to benefit.\nI try to urge people to stay in Kenya and atleast get a degree but no one listens.\nI have been told that i don't want other people to get greener pastures, i have been called selfish and evil, so i decided to shut up and mind my business.

I immigrated from Africa to the US then I made my way to Canada 20 years ago. Life has changed from the time we first moved here. Before with 5k Canadian dollars you would put down for a mortgage and get into the housing market. From 2015 when the Liberals came in power housing market has gone downhill for most even those earning middle class income. \n\nIf you desire to come make sure you have the right paper work. If you are coming as a foreign trained professional. You are okay. Otherwise, make sure you have immediate family willing to help you untill you get on your feet. DON'T COME as a visitor without family to ask for refugee status. You will suffer. Most of those stranded in Toronto are those seeking asylum and shelters are full with those who came from newyork when the borders where shut.\n\nOtherwise if you can pay your bills in Africa just stay there, atleast you have morals. Our elementary schools ? are terrible here with those LGB****%$# stuff pushed on children.

Lynn, this Canada thing is a common sense thing. Same reason a Tanzanian will not come to kenya to sell tomatoes on the streets due to high competition on the field. Any country you move to it depends on what you will go to do and who will help you get on your feet. Canada is extremely beautiful and one can prosper extremely well financially compared to kenya BY FAR! But you can’t come from the village and land in Toronto and wait for a job and opportunity to come get you from the airport! Am very honest. I live abroad, in one of the richest countries in the world and believe me, I have seen even their own citizens suffering economically. Why? What are their skills and plans and expectations? I read somewhere, with all the wealth in the world, if all was to be shared equally to every one the universe, the rich will become rich and the poor poor -again. So a kenyan should first plan who they will live with for atleast a year while they get on their feet, put their hustle mood on n be willing to take any jobs, plus get out of the mentality that one must be in a big city! Other places outside cities really have low costs of life and offer more opportunities. Just saying

Why is it when things get bad people just run away? Nothing will improve in this world if everyone is just running away from the problems. The solution is to stay put and do what you can to resolve the problem. Otherwise, the problems will just follow you and may even multiply.

Quick question. Do they still make you get the tattoo under your left armpit when you join the SS in Canada? That's kinda putting me off taking the plunge, the whole 'parliament supports the SS' thing.

i was born in Montreal and i moved here 8yrs ago. Everything people hear or say about Toronto is a lie. Toronto is going downhill fast and the powers that be dont seem to care. The TtC is in shambles and prices are sky high and no relief in sight as the blame is put on non sensical reasons. Blaming the poor and international students for Torontos problems is absurd but that is what we have. I know many who are playing the system to get what they need. This is not a country but 10 fiefdoms reporting to the queens jester in Ottawa.

The problem is the many mentally ill not getting help in their own province small town. They bring their problems to Toronto. Ask any shrink and he'll tell you. Ask a socialworker, ask a correctional officer who get to see the scum brought to east detention or Mimico. The biggest criminals are from small town Canada.\nI have lived in Toronto for 65 years. I am 80 and I don't go anywhere after dark. Why do the homeless come here fully knowing that the rents are high? Obviously demented. A normal poor person goes to live where they are welcome.\nI stay here and I put up with the good, the bad and the ugly.

There's a little disgusting fact about Colorado, colorado. Their favorite thing is if you've been put into one of their jails or prisons. Upon your release date, they give you a bus ticket anywhere out of the state. That's the big reason for their we're down here in New Mexico. We get a lot of them dumped off. At our bus station and and to find out the general remarks out of the bunch is they were giving them strictly $35 in a bus ticket Anywhere out of the state.\nSo in New Mexico, we expect to see mostly Indian hispanics. Amongst the street people all of a sudden, we have a whole bunch of whites and blacks. That don't understand how rough the weather is around here.

I think if you put them in a commune and quarantine them and put them through due process, temporarily help with housing after you do these things for our own citizens. and let them get job and start paying there own way like everybody else and not sending their money back to people across the border by working for cash under the table. That's why they need to be registered. They need to be registered to keep them from doing bad things to people and not paying the consequences because they're not registered legally. This is some of the problem.

Hello brothers and sisters I’m seeing a problem here. The interest rate in the late 1970s and early 1980s interest rate was 12-18%. People\nComing now are in MUCH better financial condition then people who came then with nothing. The difference is two main things: many new immigrants don’t have the same drive and motivation that previous immigrants in terms of sacrifices such as not driving a mustang, but they also didn’t just settle for labour jobs, they used their brains and began business along side labour. Second thing is, the immigrant wants to see the result before putting in the work. If after getting out of the horrible conditions of India and coming to Canada, a country loaded with opportunities, you still have difficulties then you need to change your expectations and work ethic to match, if they don’t then don’t complain. Cost of living is not the issue, it is the false expectation that they give themselves. To be quite honest with you it takes most immigrants one generation not 5-10 years, so either start working smarter or wait to have this reflection of what Canada is like until you have lived here for 50 years.

They want to enjoy the infrastructure, education, security in Canada without putting in the requisite hard work that make those things possible! \nThey want to behave like they do in Nigeria where a Doctor employed in a Teaching hospital will not report for work or report late and still take his full salary home at the end of the month. They divert patients to their private clinics and rip them off. And they won't even pay tax! \nCanada is so hard yet he wants to get a Canadian citizenship for himself and children, what an irony!\nWhy did he leave all the good life in Nigeria to relocate in the first place?why?

That comment about no enjoyment with their work was spot on. We work with older equipment older software our businesses dont invest like american ones do. We dont get new forklifts. Nothing yet they put tremendous pressure on whoever shows up Monday. If we cant be rich can we at least be happy? If i was picking countries as an immigrant id pick usa!

I wish I wasn’t Canadian sometimes because of the influx of migrants that put too much pressure on our limited ability to integrate them. Partly due limited housing, especially on lower income supply. I know it’s not their fault for trying to get a better life. My recent exposure to the new wave of immigrants many are uncultured when they first arrive, Also adding stress to our failing healthcare system. Some are scamming the employment & welfare system, and get more financial assistance from the government than the people born and raised in the country. I’m embarrassed at the failure of Canada and its government to give not only the Canadians good governance and proper quality of life, but the new migrants whom we welcome the ability to not just survive but thrive. Personally I believe that immigrants should be forced away from the densely populated areas to the other provinces and territories that actually require their skills and expertise.

Then all those illegals will get free benefits free living free healthcare $2500 every month a 1million dollar house while the hard working Americans can’t even get that ? when people say love being American ? I hate being American cause it’s hard for us real Americans to get all that while illegals can get it right away they definitely gotta put us first before anyone else but don’t hate this country it must be burned to the grown can’t wait till we get nuked

As a kid in the 70' the excuse was we are running here for a better life and from the killing and criminal activities there, BUT it's all here and have been for YEARS THE USA IS DROWNING IN A SEA OF PROBLEM AND THEY COME HERE WORKING AND SENDING MONEY BACK TO THE SAME PLACE THEY RAN FROM MAKE IT MAKE SENSE IF IT IS SO BAD WHY SEND MONEY BACK IT DAILY AT ANY CHECK CASH PLACE JUST GO BACK AND HELP FIGHT FOR A BETTER LIVE THERE PUT ALL THIS ENERGY THAT IS BROTHER HERE AND FIX THE PROBLEM I AM IN MY 50' AND THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. MEXICO FIX THE PROBLEM!

I had to sell my condo because of all the drug addict population increasing in my neighborhood downtown and the government put some injection sites all around downtown Toronto ; it has become disgusting and dangerous because all those people just trash everything they touch and wherever they go, and then because I didn't agree with all the discrimination taxes and xenophobia from the government's part. I am glad I was able to get the hell out before the total collapse of the economy and real estate prices and I don't regret it 1 minute. Canada sucks really.

Trudeau has ruined Canada….he cannot stop bringing in immigrants and refugees that are costing tax payers billions of dollars. How early it is to spend …blow the tax payers money .
Where are we now ? Canadians are sleeping in tents, Canadians are taxed into poverty to pay for all the freebies and hand outs and easy money.
The demand on housing has made buying a home impossible in Canada and rents are skyrocketing along with the cost of food!
Millions of Canadians no longer have a family Doctor….waiting lists are tremendous…people are not getting the healthcare like in the past.
What is the solution to the problem?…the Trudeau government say we need to bring in millions more people to build homes……WHAT? Really?
Would you buy 1000 horses or cows without a barn ? NO!
Why not put the millions of people you already brought into this country to work building houses instead of working at Walmart or fast food joints or delivering trucks. Low income jobs to keep the companies here happy with cheap labour so they can made big profits instead of paying Canadians a living wage!
It is all about moneymaking, greed, and votes, to hell with the taxpayers of Canada!

I do feel sry for those people, but theres few things we need to address.. if they get here.. how they are going to survive if we hardly have jobs for us..\nThey forgit that america is not longer a place of freedom, our leaders had 5urn us into democracy, iron walls.took our freedom of speach, teach our kids they are praying nouns n to disrespec their parents if they tell them something else, where christians are becoming the enemy and evil the friends.. the president is a child molester n his wife has to shutup, our unborn child is already mark with a death sentence, America is NOT longer the land of the freedom, and the braves.. America. Is worse than their own country, to die here i should die were i was born, sadly im american n see my country gong down hurts… people u are no one here just like we are.. \nwe work all out lives, n when we need help is denied, but imigrants not even an id to proced who they are are been gupiven, housing, food, medical and money, im disable working for america, n i cant even get food stamps cuz i was granted ne (1) lousy dollar ne time n the food stamps said i made enought dont need food stamps, but my neighbors is an imigrant, her husband work, they even pay for her house, n me i was told no help cuz im not old enough.. what u mean.. i dont say anything about my friend cuz shes my friend but we can keep housing those that never put a penny into our land. Why they get benefits n we dont? Again i feel sry for them i really do, but what about us..the real citizens of United States of Anmerica..??? Maybe if they put that much effort into fixing their homeland they wouldn't feel they need to be here. They gonna be in for a surprise when they find out the roads ain't paved with gold here. You make more money but you pay way more money to so what's the diff. I'm for freedom and humanity and I believe in helping the needy but at what point do you draw the fckng line. We can't even or wont even help pur own people we need to do that b4 worrying bout rest of the world. The extreme left I intentionally trying to drive our country into the ground it's clear now we need to wonder why? Maybe so it gets so bad we beg for their globalist or commy bs idk. ? but to me this looks damn near like an invasion why arent we poppin shots and throwing tear gas when we fckng shoot our own citizens just for running away and lock up people who protested the capital Jan 6th for months and years without any real charges. But we let a force of people bust thru our fckng INTERNATIONAL BORDER. Everything is so fckd right now its beyond sad.

You think Americans have it bad. But think about how bad it must be to risk you life and freedom to come to a country that thinks we are so much. No I don’t think everyone should be a loud. There should be a better way to screen who we let in. If you have a drug or violent on your record than no go back. But what about the other people that is trying to help make it better for their kids. Wouldn’t you try to get out of a country that’s so bad that it’s better to be dead thank live where you are. Come trolls let me have it. All I am saying try to understand the other side. Try to put yourself in their shoes.

House prices have increased because of businesses and law firms investing in the housing market. Ask your landlord who owns the house. They knew the market trend with the immigrants surging in. Brain drain comes from companies in Canada hiring immigrants with education, and accept lower wages. Americans work harder because they get paid more and know most of it does not go to tax. In Canada, its better to not work overtime because you get put into another tax bracket and you end getting pennies on the dollar. Nobody mentions the Colonial political system we have. A Governor General??

I'm Canadian and worked in Dertoit for almost 10 years, I crossed the border daily working for GM. I've also done work in Louisiana, Indiana and all around Michigan. \nAmerica has some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. It's a beautiful country and has a ton to offer anyone with an ounce of drive. The variety you have in your economy is amazing, we don't have a lot of choice when we buy stuff, you guys have so much more to choose from, take restaurants for example, I've never seen so many chain restaurants in one place, we have a handful of them. \nFrom what I've seen, there's also a lot of poverty, crime and violence, but that's literally everywhere right now, even here in Canada, we don't prosecute violent crime anymore. The gun issue is probably the biggest problem...I always felt extremely vulnerable out in public, especially driving, because I assumed everyone had a gun on them, I seen so many random guns on people, it just blew my mind. I always had to keep in mind when I was driving not to road-rage...That's how you get shot. The health care industry in America is nothing but a business model designed to bankrupt people. Our system isn't great at all...nothing to boast about. If you have to visit the ER at any hospital, you'd better bring food and water, you'll be there at least 8 hours before you're even seen by a doctor. Our health care is free yes, but we're taxed to death here because of it. I do indeed wish we had a 2-teir health care system, I want the option to pay to get seen soonest. America and Canada have free(ish) speech. We're both being ruled by leftist loonies, but that's all changing in our next respective election cycles. Biden and Trudeau will be shown the door and we can hopefully get back to healthy debate and more conversation in society...Instead of automatically dismissing each other, vitriolic badgering one another and hating each other. We had unity for a brief time, we all saw it, after 9/11 happened. We put our petty crap aside and saw each other as brothers and sisters. That didn't last very long and we've been in a constant state of crisis ever since. The media has driven a huge nail right through society, and takes a blow at every single issue we face, making it Left vs Right...\nIt's unfortunate to say, but it's going to take something truly devastating, possibly on a biblical scale, for us to come together again.

The obvious connection not being made here is when you let in a high amount of skilled labour without consideration for the size of the industry you put downward pressure on the average income of that industry. There is more thought out into the American system. Easy isn’t necessarily better. And don’t get me started on the price of housing. It’s actually outright ridiculous. But again there’s not much though in the system. Everyone wants to live in Toronto. Upward pressure on the price of homes. Many immigrants I meet actually want to leave.

As an immigrant to the US, you summed up the issue very nicely. Another thing I noticed is that people who cannot get an h1b visa sometimes would go to Canada, get a Canadian passport to secure an insurance, and then come look for a job on TN visa or EB1 visa in the US. As an immigrant who comes to the US on a EB3 visa, I really hope that the US can prioritize employment based visas instead of family based or even illegals immigrants for the future of the country. One thing that makes a lotta EB immigrants scratch our heads is that why would the US government put all their efforts in taking in illegal immigrants and grant them a safe path to citizenship instead of taking care of the ones coming in legally first. Not to say the other group isn’t important, but it’s a weird way to prioritize things.

I have mixed feelings about this video. This video does a good job outlining the immigration process but it does not highlight any of the negative consequences of immigration that Canada is experiencing. One of the main reasons why cost of living is so high in Toronto and Vancouver is precisely because we have so many immigrants coming in without enough housing supply. This is by design because politicians and the upper class have a vested interest in keeping real estate prices high because so much of their net worth is tied up in the housing market.\n\nAnother negative is that employers hire immigrants working low skilled jobs and pay them less than Canadians because the immigrants are willing to be taken advantage of since they're just happy to have a job in Canada which pays better than their country. \n\nAnother myth that gets repeated is that Canadian takes immigrants out of compassion and unfortunately a lot of Canadians believe this. It was never about compassion, it's about bringing more people to 1) pay taxes to support our social welfare as Canadian birth rates decline and boomers retire, 2) keep housing costs high and 3) pay immigrants lower wages for the same work because immigrants are fine being exploited since they have a job in a first world country.\n\nAnother problem is the cultural shift. In the most immigrant-dense regions you'll find that many immigrants themselves surprisingly don't want more immigrants coming to Canada because they see these negative consequences. The people who are most pro-immigration have no problem cramming 8+ people in a basement and exploiting their labour because they make enough money to live in communities that immigrants can't afford, and so they don't have to deal with the cultural shift that's taking place. This is NOT the fault of immigrants, but rather the politicians who put economic growth over quality of life. Over HALF the people in the GTA weren't born in Canada, so they didn't go through our school system and have no connection to our culture. Canada is unfortunately going to become very racist over the next 10-20 years as Canadians start feeling like outsiders in their own country. It's somehow considered racists to criticize the effect of multiculturalism on social unity, yet the cultures we accept in Canada only became distinct cultures because of monoculturalism.

Why would the US be anyone’s first choice?! Yeah, you might make a bit more money; but you’re going to go bankrupt if you get sick, not so in Canada. You’ll also go broke if you want to put your kids through college, not so in Germany.

Children getting shot is not a “touchy subject.” It’s an insane problem. And yes, there are children shot daily! Dude, there is no where on the planet where there are children and humans shot on anywhere CLOSE to the scale that it happens in the US.\n\nAnyway, move to the States? Not on your life! I used to like some vacations there, but the current insane right-wing, fascist politics, anti-vax and anti-mask and anti-science entrenched attitudes, and MOSTLY the pervasive threat of gun violence and the manic love affair with guns — UGH - all mean I am not interested in even vacationing there. There is a sane world outside the USA.\n\nNor would I want to live inside such an inward-looking, self-absorbed “we are the centre of the world” culture that truly believes itself superior to all others in the world. The hubris and delusion are very off-putting. \n\nAnd to live in such a broken health care system? Where profits drive it all? Not on your life.\n\nOh, I couldn’t stand the hot weather that so many places have either. No thanks! I’ll take my coldest large city in the world (Winnipeg) any day. \n\nThere is nothing appealing about the prospect of living anywhere in the States, despite WONDERFUL vacations I’ve had there is past decades.

I lived in Canada from 1983 to 2016 after I left the US Air Force in '83. I was born in the SF Bay area, and grew up there in the Hippie peace love/Viet Nam era in the 60's and 70's. I now live in Seattle. As we have travelled to San Fran, New Orleans, Nashville, Miami, Vancouver (Canada) and New York in the last 6 months, I kinda have a pretty good idea how it was on both sides of the border way back then, as well as right now. We have 2 rental homes, and I STILL have to work until I'm 70 to retire without worrying about losing it all because of the the high cost of health care. Your observation of race/political/religion relations are naive at best, you need to travel the country first hand to see it. Canada has it's far share of right wing crazies as well. They're mostly not armed, and most fights are 5 minute shouting matches. I know this because I work on construction sites. Canada doesn't have commercials for pharma or ambulance chasers. Because big pharma is kept in check, and with a population slightly smaller than California, frivolous lawsuits would clog the courts. If the PM killed some one on the corner of Yonge and Bloor in Toronto, he'd go to jail. You can get an abortion in Canada. There's a fraction of the Fentanyl crisis happening in Canada, and they have waaayy less homeless in the street. Canada has 2 weeks paid vacation AND paid holidays. The tax rate is higher in Canada, but many of the benefits make up the difference. It's cheaper to buy a house in Seattle than Vancouver. You can get a 30 year mortgage in Washington as well, instead of 5 or 10 years. Good and services tend to be cheaper and more plentiful Stateside. Mail service runs on weekends, it hasn't done that in Canada since the 80's. As it stands, I'm in Seattle right now because it isn't the typical US city by far. But I'm thinking when it comes to retiring, I'm putting Canada on the list. Being a dual citizen also makes me eligible for the other Commonwealth (universal health care) countries like Australia.

I'm a proud Canadian who would NEVER move to the USA for a ton of reasons. I only wish our best neighbors---I still believe this---would get their act together. Unfortunately I think it may be way too late. The fact that a known scumbag like Donald Trump could still,I think, get back into the White House says it all. The warring political parties should be lining up to put him jail. Far too many shootings and violence down there. When I meet Americans up here, they are always nice folks, always respectful. Maybe they're relieved I'm not armed. I'm kidding. Still, all things considered, very proud and very lucky and very happy to be a Canadian.

The exact words I was thinking:\n\nThere is not a chance in hell of me ever moving to the United States.\n\nReasons.\n#1. Gun culture.\n#2. Health Care.\n#3. Christian Theocracy.\n#4. The Sheer Near Total Insanity of the Republican Party. This includes the state of the Supreme Court, and the current barbaric handling of abortion.\n#5. The racial issues... that are still today influenced by the history of slavery.\n#6. The Issues around the Electoral College that allow a candidate to become president while losing the popular vote. Also the lack of an independent body to oversee elections. That is sheer madness.\n#7. Denser populations, and, as a related issue, greater pollution.\n#8. The Presidential Pardon... which is a concept that seems designed to facilitate the abuse of power.\n#9. Fox News, and the rest of the deeply manipulative right wing media... which I should have put much higher on this list.\n#10. Military spending... which also should probably be higher on this list.\n#11. The myth of American exceptionalism.\n#12. American ignorance of the rest of the world, in general.\n#13. The Criminal Code including the Death Penalty, which was eliminated in Canada many years ago.\n#14. Education.\n#15. The drastically increased potential for political violence ever since Trump entered the political arena. This one also should be higher on the list. The United States could not even get through a transfer of power without violence. This is beyond pathetic. The peaceful transition of power is the #1 job of first-world democracies.\n#16. Attitudes toward social problems such as poverty and drug addiction. \n\nNotice that #4 - #7 could be subdivided into more than one reason.\nI thought this list was going to have 5 or 6 items on it.

??'s are homeless due to landlord act not changing because a landlord can lie and say they're family is moving in and they kick you out the landlord and tenant board lets them. The landlord's aren't penalized. Lots of racism due to people hating Latinos and anyone who's not white and not Portugese. ??Loves Portugese etc. They'll pay to a company like Winners, Tim Hortons, Dollarama, etc to hire and train these newcomers and refugees. No, one of the things that I love about our Canada is\nfor the most part we treat our police with respect and\nthey for the most do the same, they are just people\nwith a different job to do and we are not scared of them.\nWe love you America you are a big brother to us but we\njust do not want to live in the same house as you, one\nof the reasons for that is you have too many guns in\nthe gun cabinet (case). There are so many different\n people of different nations getting along with each other\nand loving Canada its really something to see, words cannot\nexpress how much I love our great country of Canada.\nOh, and we have 3 different serious political parties instead\nof 2, so the politicians know they can be replaced in 2 seconds\nflat if they try to be an idiot, we the people put them in office\nnot some college or other nonsense across the country somewhere,\nbecause it's not their country, it's our country, and it's working pretty\npretty dam well thank you. (you know I had to say please or thankyou somewhere).

Also, yes you are desensitized to the violence, religious zealotry, and racism. Most Canadians going anywhere in the states would see the massive difference coming from a place were everyone is treated like a person to a place where putting people down is so baked into the foundations that you no longer notice. Heck as a white man with decent income, you have to actually look around yourself to see it in your everyday, except every once in awhile when one cop murder gets far more attention than it usually does.

To put things into perspective Tyler, there have been 340 mass shootings in the States so far this year. That's more than one a day and is scarily close to 2 per day. Meanwhile in Canada there's been 2 (which also thankfully no one has died in and 'only' 4 were injured in each though ideally neither of these would have happened either of course). The year in Canada with the highest number of mass shootings ever was 2018 with 7. Since the year 2000, there have been 53 mass shooting in Canada. That means, in less than a year, the US has had more than 6x the amount Canada has had in the last 23 years combined. Almost all of Canada's mass shootings also tend to happen either directly in Toronto or just the GTA in general so, anyone who's worried about that in Canada can live basically anywhere else in the country.\n\nI have no doubt that the vast majority of Americans are at least decent human beings with a fair number of them being amazing people. However, if even 10% of Americans were considered crazy, that's basically the same number of people as the population of Canada. Canada has it's crazy people too of course but the chances of running into one is far less likely and it's much harder for those crazy people to become dangerous because it's harder to get firearms.
