If a fourth generation canadian cannot get a job, then why should another country come here. I was born in B.C. but moved to Ontario when I was a young child. I always wanted to go back, so finally I did in retirement, settling in Kelowna, in the Okanagan. It was paradise and I loved it there. However, my husband had to move into a nursing home this year, and I was forced to sell our house, deciding to move to Calgary, Alberta. So far I like Calgary a lot. I'm used to the snow, coming from Ontario, but I miss Kelowna like crazy. At least my husband is still there, and it's only a short flight for me to go and visit him.

As a 35 year old Canadian born citizen, at this point I would love to become a legal American citizen in any republican run state. Real estate is the driving factor for the economy and with those housing/COL prices going up, I won't even be able to afford a split mortgage even if I had a steady 6 figure job. Now, it's too late to plug the leak. Thus, rampant homelessness. \n\nCompletely irresponsible immigration policy. Nobody in their right mind would deny that a multicultural country like Canada needs immigrants. Especially with the aging population. But as far as accommodating/housing these people, we're not even close to being on target. I live in Germany for about 6 years, moving from Bosnia and didnt have any of those problems mentioned, excluding the bureaucratic hurdels. Granted, i do speak German natively since ive spent my early childhood years here. To be fair i do think that learning the language of the nation you are moving to as fluently as possible should be a no brainer.\nWhat people arround the world need to understand is that European countries are NOT the USA. These are nations that exist for thousands of years with clear cultural parameters born out of centuries of strugle, war and hardship. These are strongly embeded into the minds of the people living here. The jist of it is that Europeans have known this for a long time, literally knowing ´´what the others are like´´. So its much easier to adapt. Of course it helps that most European countries have simmilar religious and social values.

I support post secondary schools charging more to immigrants and foreign students. My university that I’m currently at charges a $2500 registration fee to international students. I a Canadian born citizen do not pay anything to register. I only pay for my classes. My university is also made up of mostly foreign students by charging foreign students more. It allows Canadians to be charged less so yes, I support schools charging more to foreign students.

We don't need to deport them. Just make it where any company or business found employing them is immediately shuttered and the management imprisoned. The company assets are then sold off at auction to pay fir the employees deportation. Same for housing like apartments, condos, etc.\n\nMedical care refused for all illegals except kids 16 and under. Same for schools. No high school education for illegal kids. (Kids shouldn't be punished for their parents actions)\n\nFinally, stop giving citizenship to kids born in the US unless at least one parent is a legal US citizen. \n\nRefuse to issue marriage licenses unless one is legal as well.

Some rehtoric is even suggesting going after children born in the US of immigrants, legal or otherwise.\n\nDeportation of that scale would include myself, who's ancestor came to the colonies on a now illegal indentured servitude contract to a country that wasn't even America at the time.

the problem with deporting any illegal immigrant is any one can be an illegal immigrant.\nRecently an American citizen who was born in the U.S was passing into the U.S from Canada and was waved through by border security, so technically he entered illegal because he wasn't inspected, therefore entered illegally. According to the supreme court American citizens don't have standing to challenge immigration or customs decisions., so he is an illegal alien.

My main concerners are human decency and the chance that a legal immigrant will get caught up in the mix.\n\nFirstly, i am concerned we will return to the concentration camps of the 1900s and the people in them wont have adequate supplies and support ehile they wait to be deported.\n\nSecondly my concern is for those on a green card or other form of legal immigration getting caught up in the mix and not being let go. To all those supporting the cracking down on these ‘illegals’ there’s something I need to know. Tell me, if they folks had an option to immigrate legally, would they? Do you think it’s some kind of malicious effort to come here against the law, or are they coming here out of desperation? Many of these people come from places like Haiti, Colombia, or Guatemala. The 11 Million figure way underestimates the true figure. 67 Million speak non-English in their home settings. I guarantee 11 Million is wrong. The percentage of foreign born is so high that there is no question it is way underestimated.
