I immigrated to Canada from China eleven years ago. If Canada eleven years ago was what it is today, I would never give up everything I have in China and immigrate to this country. I plan to return to China next year, back to where I grew up. Compared to here, China has been making progress in the past ten years, and the most direct thing is that people's living standards are getting higher and higher, and they are safe. It is safe for a lady to walk alone on the street at midnight, and this is true because my family still lives in China. So, if you're not happy here, why not China. You can travel to there first to see the real China instead of beliving the fake news!

I live in the Swanton sector in Upstate NY, 5 miles south of the Canadian border. Our small town sees dozens of border crossers a day, many just wandering down our Main Street waiting to catch a ride to NYC. Several months ago, I approached a group of a dozen military age males, loitering around the gas station at the main crossroad in town. One male was on a cell phone trying to communicate with someone on the other end who was speaking very good English, meaning no perceivable accent. The cell phone male was unable to communicate with the person on the other end of the call (female voice). As I listened to the other members of the group talking, I heard several words and or phrases that sounded familiar to me (possibly Arabic). I was language trained in the military for Arabic. When I spoke to the men, their eyes lit up with recognition. They were all Muslims from Bangladesh. After several moments of chatting, I was able to discover where they were from, that they flew into Canada, were given a contact # to call after crossing and for them to make their way to NYC. My data is anecdotal but a majority of the migrants we’re are seeing here in Upstate NY are from Central Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh). Winter is quickly approaching here, and many who risk the Swanton sector route will not make it due to the extreme cold. Many of my friends who live outside of town, many farmers, are deeply concerned or frightened for the safety of their families. Many have had migrants approach their houses and attempt to gain access. Truly scary stuff. And it seems to only be getting worse.

Im a 34 yr old Canadian and share the exact same view as you about this country. \nMy husband, myself and our tow kids moved to Mexico a few years ago, as well as a few friends of ours, and leaving Canada was like getting out of a toxic relationship lol Once you're out of the 'bubble' that Canada has created for it's citizens you see just how sour it has become. \nThat being said, we did move back to Canada to buy some land far north Alberta-only because we have small kids and want them to be around family-but if it was just my husband and myself we DEFINITELY would have stayed in Mexico. \nMexico feels safer, its beautiful there all over the country, the people have wonderful community and live life fully, the culture is enthralling, the food is BETTER in every way, the language (Spanish) is a fun element to life, and best of all-in Mexico, you are out of the censorship and the 'fear bubble' in Canada. You see it all over headlines, you hear it on the radio, it comes out of everyone's mouths in Canada-obsessed with 'safety' and everyone is terrified of living. Now that we're back we're very aware of it and do our best to ignore it and block it out. \n\nMoving abroad is a lot of work, but I would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it. I am so thankful I have Greek and Macedonian citizenship. As soon as I'm done with my education, I'm moving back to Greece or Macedonia, somewhere there are hardly any Indians. I literally get lucky to see 4-5 white, black, or latinos a day in my city, the rest are all Indian, Pakistani, and Arabs. I don't feel like I'm living in Canada anymore, I feel like I'm living in the Middle-East. I only have 2 more years of university and then if I don't go to Greece or Macedonia, it'll be because there's too many Middle-Easterners there too, and I will go someplace like Korea or Vietnam, where there are practically no Middle-Eastern people. Sorry, but you're right about them being rude, and they act like they're entitled to everything. It's disgusting and I've had enough. i have a few bad experiences with east indians ( pls. note am not hating, just expressing my dissapointment.\n1) i went to Tim Horton with my 2 other friends and ordered coffe, we waited 5 minutes one of my friend got his coffee after 5 mins.\nmy other friend 8 mins. and already at this moment they're giving coffees from people who were behind us... which is east indians - 10 mins. i still didn't get my coffee and i asked them twice about my order and these people behind me were already enjoying their coffee...i finally got my coffee when my friends almost done with theirs.\nI barely go to Tim Hortons anymore.\n2) Domo gas station - i asked for premium and the served me regular gas ?\ni don't know if the're paying attention to their job or just intentionally doung it.

Yes I would blame Indian government and immigration Agents in India and Indian immigration agents in Canada. Canada have their rules and standard which are clearly stipulated. First of all if Indian students get student visa it is supposed to be supported by a college or university where they're going to spend number of years in the college, during the period they are supposed to have declared their day to day needs Canadian Government are not responsible for students health or their food. It it is their own responsibility student can not come to Canada on visa and start working I would suggest that before they start this process from India they would be able to evaluate the honesty of immigration agents in India I do feel pity for all these illegal students who came to Canada by getting conned by Agents both in India and in Canada.

I worked in new construction plumbing, building mosques and really got along well with those guys. had lots of fun. but when I get a service call and its an Indian last name I kinda cringe tbh. even my Indian friends tell me not to work for Indians lol. that said, there's lots of good Indians here

International students should come just to study not to work, if they can pay the universities fees, they should be able to pay for their bills. Foreign workers are need in some jobs, for example: agriculture, housekeeping, or skilled workers are ok too but we can see every store, fast food shops full of Filipinos and Indians, and they’re like mafias, once a Filipino is a manager, they mostly hire Filipinos and same with Indians. My daughter and her friends have been applying for a part time job in Tim’s, McDonalds, a&w, Walmart and other grocery stores and barely get a interview and never hired?, ahh but my daughter’s Filipino friends are all working ?, some of them where their parents work?

I'm all for people from abroad, coming to our education system, because we have the one of best in the world, get an education, establish yourself here and you can make a great life out of it and you'd be accepted. What's not being addressed is how temporary foreign workers were once relegated to to agricultural and fisheries work but are working for many exploitive employers who care about nothing more than having the lowest payroll, mainly fast-food and retail. These are entry-level jobs that many Canadians needed to survive but are being undercut by foreign cheap labor. My experiance with German culture is kind of simillier. All though I am not from Germany but from Austria.\nThe simillierities are kinda parallel. \n- The housing market is getting worse everyday.\n- Compared to the other countries the job market is not that matured. Specially in tech. The salaries are capped and you can reach the ceiling super quickly.\n- All though I don't have any friends here, my overall experience with people weren't that bad, specially considering I don't speak German.\n- Occational racism? sure. But there were good people as well. And I think there are bad people everywhere.\n\nAll though I was mentally at a bad place after a year living in here, what helped me better my mental health was realizing that my worth does not comes from other people, and not everyone needs to me my friend. \n\nTips if you're a newcomer.\n- Realize that people are not cold because you look different, but sometimes its the culture, so do not take it personally.\n- Be polite to other people and don't be apologetic if you can not speak german while taking services, often time speaking in easy english without thinking of grammers helped me making people feel easy to communicate with me.\n- Meeting people would be hard, so rather than trying to make friends everywhere try to join an activity that you actually enjoy, often time you will meet likeminded people that you can build true friendship with.\n- And be respectful to their culture.

I am Canadian born citizen, unemployed, 2 and a 1/2 years. Because I didn't know that the Trudeau government in 2022 when I lost my job due to the pandemic was allowing them to import T.F.W's as executive assistance my level of experience into my industry. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get an interview withe almost 20yrs of experience and I was trying every trick in the book but a week ago I learned that they brought in over 2 years 300,000 admins at all levels from E.A's to receptionist now. So imagine my horror and shock to learn that 5 days ago. But you walk in everywhere. And it's just Indians from every part of South Asia and I am all for immigration I'm a child of an immigrant, but immigration is a science When dealing with a country like Canada, where it's designed to be many cultures like a 20 bean soup. You're supposed to try and keep it at being a 20 bean soup and within 3 years it became like a 2 bean soup. It's a science where you're replacing your dead, and then you bump it up like 10% to grow the population slowly with GDP so that you don't have so many Canadians. Unemployed and temporary foreign workers that come are employed. So everybody's contributing but the way they did the open door everybody bum rush. And over run the country. Our economy is now 60% dependent on people who aren't residents. They're temporary which means when they leave our fake economy is actually only built on 40% to 30% of Canadians. That's an economy that will crash because it's never supposed to be weighted that way, Canadians are supposed to be 60% to 70% of the economy and foreign workers are to be the rest. So we're in trouble when they finally go home, but they need to put a moratorium on PR's, Work permits, LIMA's, T.F.W's and restrict all educational institutions on how many Students they can accept so private schools don't scam students by taking their money then telling them they don't have a seat for them to attend class that is just criminal and do so untill end of 2025 and then review status again for 2026. So Canadians can have a shot at getting work and then slowly introduce them back in as needed for proper slow population growth and not just a free-for-all ability to work anywhere in the whole country. Major cities and everything like that. So people like me can finally get back to work.

I hate that the provincial governments have underfunded our colleges to such a degree that those colleges depend on international students for funding ( because they charge them more). I hate that there are unscrupulous people lying to students in India to get a cut. I hate that they ended up in this position. But the international student program should not be a backdoor to citizenship. They're more than welcome to apply but they shouldn't get special treatment. I think this was brought to the forefront because of corporations abusing the TFW program.

I am constantly annoyed by the following, but because I was born in Canada, I would be cancelled for saying the things you can. I am also Indian. Here’s the list that comes to mind. I might come back and edit this because I am sure there are things I am forgetting: \n\n- coughing into your elbow instead of your hands (literally watched a guy yesterday on the bus cough into his hands then put his hands onto the support bar)\n\n- Standing to the side and letting people off the train so you can get on instead of trying to walk through people who are trying to get off \n\n- Standing up and moving to the side to let somebody off on an inside seat of the bus. I have a butt. I don’t want to be squeezing by you \n\n- Taking off their backpack while standing on the bus and putting it between their legs\n\n- Moving to the back of the bus instead of crowding by the doors\n\n- Standing in lines to get onto the bus instead of crowding\n\n- Not littering. Either put your garbage in the bin or take it with you. Stop leaving it on the beach or on hiking trails.\n\n- Learn about hiking before attempting it. We have people going up in jeans and flip flops in the evening and getting stuck on mountains or injured. Some wear running shoes but they don’t have enough traction for the trail\n\n- Shovel the sidewalk in front of your home when it snows\n\n- Stop dousing yourself with axe body spray. \n\n- Understand that Indian food makes your clothes smell. It gives off oils that get stuck in everything. Open your windows and doors when cooking to minimize this as much as possible. You won’t be able to resolve this entirely but do what you can. The skytrain now smells like Indian food even when empty. \n\n- Stop riding your bikes and scooters on the sidewalk. It’s illegal and you have a responsibility to learn the rules \n\n- Stop hiring everybody that you know. Before nepotism was all about networking, but nowadays, it seems to be about hiring Indian people that you know. I am being discriminated by employers because they think I will do the same once I am in. Diversity in teams matters. Indian immigrants don’t seem to believe in this and think all that matters is the most qualified get the job. This is how you end up building facial recognition models that don’t recognize Black people. \n\n- You work at McDonald’s. Stop blasting Indian music. The McDonald’s by my place is blasting Indian music from the back and it overtakes the restaurant music. \n\n- In a work environment, even if it is all Indians, speak English. You ostracize your fellow colleagues and customers. You are also not improving your English skills by speaking in your primary language.\n\n- Make an effort to make non-Indian friends. It’s really intimidating even as an Indian to see large packs of Indian men\n\n- Learn how to swim. Every year we have multiple drownings at a lake because Indian people are unprepared for the reality of the water. This is a basic safety skill.\n\n- Stop staring at women. Even as an Indian woman I get stared at by these guys. Just stop. \n\n- Get headphones. Playing music or having conversations on speakerphone in public places is rude and very inconsiderate of others \n\n- Stop cheating. Whether that’s cheating the system or during classes. We grow up here and environment that even though we can cheat, the culture makes it completely unethical and you just don’t. The consequences are significant. I get it that you come from a country that doesn’t have enough resources for its population, but you give the entire Indian community a bad name when you cheat, lie, and do other unethical things.\n\n- Learn about Canadian values. The Canadian charter of rights and freedoms exists. Under it cases were won supporting equality for women, LGBTQ rights, etc. this is built into our constitution and it’s so ridiculous to come across people who don’t adopt Canadian values. Why choose Canada if you want a culture of what’s back at home. \n\n- I get it that our healthcare system needs to improve but am disappointing reading advocacy for private healthcare in Indian Facebook groups in Canada. Tommy Douglas was voted as the greatest Canadian. He is the founding father of our nationalized healthcare system. For the most part, Canadian are happy that we don’t have a healthcare system like the United States, where your access is determined by your employer or your income. We don’t go bankrupt when we have a health emergency. Go back to India or go to another place where you can pay for private healthcare, but stop advocating to transition our healthcare system to a private system. While you’re at it go look up who was determined to be some of the greatest Canadians.

The government of the country that you’re not a citizen of makes policy changes inline with the demands of the people of the country & you go out to protest ? I'm 52 years old and a Canadian citizen my whole life. Canada has always been a welcoming country. I have friends from every part of the world here in Canada. But in the couple years there has been a brutal influx of Indians in Canada. My build alone had maybe 3 Indian households. Now more than 60% of the building is indians. And the problem is 6 to 8 people living in a 2 bedroom apartment. We use to have 1 garbage bin in the basement. Now we have 3 and they are over flowing and they leave garbage everywhere( I've watched them do it). Not everyone has house keys so they leave the security door open all hours of the day allowing criminals to get into the building. They have shit in the laundry room and the garage(I have seen this happen). They smoke in the building halls and lobby. They Dont use laundry detergent when washing their clothes so the laundry machines stink really bad. I have to was the laundry machine before even putting my clothes in.Also they have taken every job in the business in my neighborhood. They aren't very friendly. They come into my restaurant and act like entitled brats and hang out for 6 to 7 hours in groups of 20 and don't tip. They're loud and demanding. Now our regular client's have stopped coming. Since these new Indians have come here they have tainted everything. I have never been a racist individual in my whole life. My family is very diverse. We are white, black, packistan, and Asian. In the last 3 years I am so disgusted in the quality of people that have been coming to this country. The biggest group is Indians. I'm sorry but be don't need any more of these assholes. We have enough of our own assholes

This country is so in a wrong path and I get it, cost of living is rising everywhere but Canada seems to be bad in all sectors of life, not just for being expensive….what is the point of paying for a place to live pretty much as an animal for 70% of your salary and then go downtown and look around homeless and drug addicts everywhere to interacting superficially with cold people in a weather that’s freezing for more than half a year to never being able to fly anywhere as ticket for a three hour flight costs $1000…..oh and endure all of this for a $40k/annually salary after tax if you’re lucky. Not your first world category type of country but be advertised for what it really is….a 3rd world.
