The problem is not with immigrants, it is with the government's poor planning. The housing crisis began well before the recent uptick in immigration, and both major political parties are responsible for it. They under-invested in social housing and did not give enough tax incentives for developers to build new housing. They did this on purpose because the housing market was seen as the place where homeowners could build massive equity, and they did. For many years, Canadians were very pleased with this state of affairs. About a decade ago stories were running everywhere that the Canadian middle class was larger and wealthier than the American middle class. This was almost entirely due to the equity established in housing. But the prices just kept going up and up, there was not enough new housing built (on purpose, to maintain the value of Canadian real estate), and the economy needed new immigrants to fill thousands of jobs and to keep funding the health care system and other social benefits. So now we have a housing crunch, where even Canadians who own homes cannot sell them because they have nowhere to move to (everything around them is just as expensive), immigrants can't find housing, and the health care system is overloaded. It's a proper mess, but it's not as simple as saying the problem is with too many immigrants.

If I was Prime Minister. I would Ban the immigrant Visa program for the next 10 years. I would deport anyone who has overstayed there welcome (those with expired visas) or are here (illegally) and now (not documented) \n\nThat alone would take many out of the shelters, homes, rentals, streets that should not be in the Country anymore. Leaving the resources and the people who work and volunteer for those resources to help the Canadian people (which would be the prime reason for this) Canadians first ! \n\nI would cut the Carbon Tax. Put a ban on drugs and safe injections (as we know there is no such thing) \n\nMake it mandatory for those in need due to drug and mental issues (that have been diagnosed with such) to go to treatment centers (while building more centre's and hiring qualified professionals workers) to stop the crisis. \n\nChange laws on crimes and the time and penalty behind them. Doubling and tripling the time served and raising bail fees by 50% to keep folks that have criminal pasts off the streets <---- for first time offenders. \n\nFor those that have multiple offenses. Quadruple the jail times and put bail amounts 100% more then what they are now. \n\nGive those that kill, ra*e, torture, (and things along that nature (the death penalty) \n\nI would remove the mandate for Electric Vehicles for Canada. Where only 1 vehicle per manufacturer would have to be Electric. So if somebody wants it. It's there but the majority would be. Gas / Diesel etc. \n\nI would build more housing / schools / retirement homes / hospitals / recreation centre's / Library and walk in Clinics. \n\nI would write a law that the roads in Canada must be fixed properly. Not just patched. \n\nI would raise the taxes on Multi Million and Billion Corporations and those that make $400.000 or more to pay a higher tax. While those that make less than $400.000 get taxed less. \n\nI would Lower the provincial taxes by 2% effective immediately and the Minimum wage across all provinces would be $17.75 an hour for full time workers (over 32 hours per week) with .25 cent yearly increases until 2030 to be reassessed. \n\nI would give Tax cuts to those who want to open businesses and build and sell Canadian Products to make sure Canadian Goods are affordable to make. Still have a profit to slow down overseas production creating more Canadian jobs for Canadian People. \n\nEvery Worker that works 24 hours or more weekly is getting Benefits making it mandatory for all types of business owners to make benefits available to the workers and ensuring the plan covers a minimum of 50% throughout the entire year. \n\nI would raise the pension to those who have worked 25+ years in Canada and remain in Canada as a retiree for a minimum of 6 months of the year 5% \n\nShrinkflation will stop. I’m surprised you never saw me. I’m homeless in a shelter and I hate this city.. well I hate all the cities like this. The people are heartless and sacred. The homeless are high and sad… I wander the streets like all day every day. When I have money I try to help the street people. Or I end up smoking weed on occasion. This interview completely misses the point by interviewing the “wrong” immigrant. Immigrants to Canada leave for the U.S. because Canada prefers “high value” immigrants (e.g., physicians, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs with excellent track records, occupations that are expensive to train and/or individually contribute a lot to the GDP) that the U.S. would also like to attract. Not only can many of these people make more money in the U.S., but they often encounter more help and/or less restrictions with professional licenses (e.g., most states have an industrial exemption for engineers, and do a better job at helping foreign doctors and nurses get their licenses to practice medicine). How many times have we heard of a foreign professional reduced to driving a taxi or becoming a housewife when they move to Canada because an immigration official didn’t properly inform the immigrant of the hoops they would have to jump through, and the provincial professional association offered minimal, if any, assistance? \n\nThis PhD student (and others with more academic than lucrative educations) may think he’ll have it made moving to the US but I think he overestimates his value. The small liberal arts colleges that may have hired someone with his background are decreasing in number or changing to a more technical focus (usually to computer science because it doesn’t require expensive labs needed in medicine or engineering). American students are now more critically examining what degrees, if any at all, will lead to better paying careers, and I doubt Myanmar is on their radar as a money-making opportunity.

I'm all for bringing in the 'skills & talent' with new immigrants. But these new Canadians must fit the criteria that Canada needs and they must come in through the legal system, be properly vetted and willing to abide by the laws of the land. Instead, what Trudeau is bringing in through open borders are freeloaders, people who take advantage of the welfare system and refuse to work. And many of them have long criminal histories. Some even insist on bringing their quarrels with them along with the hatred they harbour for other groups of people. Too much to soon , everything needs to be brought in as needed and with proper preparation and housing. We also need more english speakers and those that believe in are way of life and beliefs. The main reason why we Indians are leaving Canada is because its full of Indians & Chinese. There is no European/Western World's feeling. Not too many speak proper English, either the compatriates are Chinese or Punjabies and none of them can speak proper English. The indian immigration is worst and crossing there limits. I have married a hindu girl from Bangladesh . Because some issue the registration process is still pending. International students coming to Canada should budget properly for tuition fees, housing and living expenses. There are too many stories of destitute international students living under a bridge or using the local food banks for subsistence.\n\n\nCanada should not be granting student visas unless they can demonstrate financial means to afford their education. Many international students come here and work part-time to partially subsidize their education. \n\nIt is not fair for Canada to help subsidize international students.

Liberal PM Cretian was elected in 1993. He ended the Federal housing programs, and shifted the responsibility for building social housing to the provinces. Of course the provinces did nothing in response. The municipal governments put in a lot of regulation, I suppose to protect the environment, and NIMBY. Home builders only built profitable homes, which were tiny condos in towers. The risks and rewards were pushed onto the private sector, meaning only the rich could participate in the overheated housing market. Then the PRC decided to start a global plague via a badly managed bioweapons lab, causing massive inflation across the planet. The problem is complex, because humans are too stupid to manage the planet properly. Canada is just a symptom of human overpopulation and idiocy.

Canada has to get its house in order for its own people not for all the people coming without being properly vetted according to our “not so good” immigration Law. Our country has many serious problems to address and fix i.e., health care, military funding, police funding, housing, affordable food. We need our borders strengthened and we need a government that puts the citizens first, not a government leader who with his every off the wall action makes us look an easy touch for the criminal element roaming the world. An excellent example of that is the horror story that is New York City.

Please check the visitor visa application properly before approval. Visitors from a few countries are applying for asylum after landing in Canada.\nHow come a fake Asylum seeker gets a visitor visa? These ppl apply for a Visitor visa to get Asylum. The Canadian government now spending taxpayers' money on the Fake visitor's welfare. What the government is doing?

When billions of dollars of taxpayers and international students money are used to support and settle in Canada , the people from countries like Afghanistan Syria Ukraine etc where govt of those countries are involved in self started wars and civil wars, the burden has to be borne by citizens and PR holders. These people don't need to pass through rigorous process of PR or express entry , not to write IELTS, Do WES, Are not properly qualified but still get PR of Canada,On the other hand, rightful people who spend lot of money for IELTS, Wes, pay application money etc etc are rejected on so called system of points. What a nonsense.

The proper question: why don't you transfer and treat the poor wounded in your super rich oil producing countries? Or are you applying any pressure on your ally israel to stop the starvation of two million Palestinians?????

Let me say it, u didn't do ur research before moving abroad, abroad life is not for lazy ppl who don't want to work on their own. Didn't u know how was the life abroad wen u have ur relatives there. And the positions u r saying are voluntary for parents, it's not a job,it's called lunch duty. You didn't try to find how life, society is there. Who asked u to hire a basement, looks like that u weren't financially ok therefore u had to hire a basement. Ppl have nice houses there. Madam, ur qualification was not suitable to get a job in canada if u r in teaching. Ur english has to be iltes level. I have relatives who are in IT and have very good salary, live in big houses. So it seems u didn't have proper skills and qualifications to get a decent job there. If u have experience u don't have to start from the scratch. U are not fit to live abroad u seem a lazy person. Ppl like u are only suitable for india. Food options are alot in canada for veggies. Healthcare is good there and free. They have a discipline there. Canada is expensive may be u couldn't cope there. It's surprising that u didn't do ur research before moving abroad. U couldn't survive for even 2 months and givingva full gyan. Bull shit.
