What is missing is that many leave after getting Canadian citizenship. So it is a two edge sword...stay in Canada for the prized citizenship. You moved here and we all want to move there. the weather is better less crime less homeless you do not have to worry about your kids on drugs. Way to go on your choice. we have tent cities growing across the country and less people can afford to even rent a basement suite every year. Our currency is in a full collapse most Canadians I know are buying gold and silver as fast as possible, you can barely get any groceries for $100 any more used to be 5-6 bags for $100 and now it is 1-2.

I live in NYC, and have been to Canada at least four times, but the last time I was there was quite some time ago. I always had a good thought about Canada, because it seems like some of the problems we have in this city, Canada also has in some way. Right now the city is a complete mess; at post pandemic and with a bit of a recession and a noticeable increase in groceries to basic things like cat food and tissues. That's not the biggest problem, it really is the legislation or lack of for people who not care for themselves. Those homeless people are almost not helpable and I don't feel threatened by them, but other people definitely do. The way the government has handled these undocumented migrants is a complete disaster and couldn't have come at a worse time. We have a serious housing crisis as well, and people can end up paying for high rent, for not the best places, but they want to live in a certain location. The migrants are coming in at about 60k in the last two weeks. You see mothers with little kids or babies selling candy all over the trains and it's becoming too much. Many see it as a form of child abuse or exploitation and we do not respect it at all. I think they feel we are weak and will just pay double for something we don't need. At one station today I must have be approached 3 times and interrupted 2 times while using my phone. It's just too much and we already have a lot of immigrants here, so I'm not sure where these people believe they will find any meaningful employment and the cold is coming. I wasn't born here, but came legally as an infant. I think the border situation is a disaster and it's obvious to a lot of people that the government lets things happen that will definitely effect citizens in the next couple of decades. The city is crowded enough and I do not know where this is all going, people do not want undocumented migrants house a few hundred feet from a childrens school. I just don't understand how they let this happen....I guess this is how Biden does things and all the groups that cheered buses pulling in when it first started are dwindling down....they just want them passed on to someone elses responsibility, but wouldn't want them as neighborhors necessarily. It's a lot of hypocrisy here. Canada seems better in some places, and the same in others.

I start to wonder if there's anyone who is not struggling in Toronto unless rich? I got a well paying job, not even my own place (shared house with too many people) and a car and an estimate of 70-80% of my income is used for monthly bills. You don't even get the basics in this city without struggling. Looking for alternative but rental prices seem to be high everywhere even in Kingston and other places far away. Food prices are insane, going out has become very expensive. Don't even mention all the taxes and high car insurance rates. Feel stuck. It's a nightmare.

I am from Iraq, although the political situation of my country isn't the best and it has a lot of flaws, but being able to hear the azan 5 times a day has made it all worth it. Before I used to want to live in USA, but now after what happened in Palestine, I've backed off and just go with the flow. Life ain't easy anywhere.

Canada has changed drastically over the last 10yrs. The cost of living is unbearable and I make $30hr here. You have no life because you cannot do anything anymore, you cant go and enjoy the things you used to do becausw of the costs, groceries prices are just absolutely insane now and when you add in this super inflation with the 7months of dark cold weather it offers nothing anymore! Just remember wherever you guys pick make sure that they speak the same dialect that you do otherwise you're going to have that learning curve of learning their dialects. It is different in a lot of places like learning to speak like the yemeni do is different than the Pakistani. So just keep that in mind. My grandfather is from Yemen and his wife who is my grandmother and my dad's side is from sudan. And they used to tell me it took them a while to understand each other. My Syrian grandmother on my mom's side would teach me words and phrases and my grandpa who was from Yemen would always make fun of me because I wasn't saying stuff right. I'm not really good at speaking Arabic but I can get by so just remember when you guys are picking somewhere to pick a place that won't be that hard to understand people. I'm only saying that because with the kids you guys send the kids to school they may learn a different dialect than what you taught at home and it will be a learning curve for them to try to understand. But I'm sure you guys will make the right decision. I just figured I would throw that in there I'm sure you already know that the dialects are a lot different and Arabic is a lot different in different parts of the world. People think Arabic is all the same and it's really different. Just like people who speak Spanish in South America speak different dialects on the Puerto Ricans just like people in Brazil don't speak Spanish they speak portuguese. Just a thing to think about. Egypt seems to be a pretty good place I have family that live in Egypt and they really liked it but I'm sure you guys will pick a place that's wonderful for your family and I can't wait till you guys know when we can see everything that you guys are doing in your new home Korean and I totally understand I am so upset the United States took the stand that they did with the genocide in Gaza and in the occupied West bank. (Abbotsford, BC) I've lived in the States for many years now and boy was I shocked how things have changed here in Canada. I realize you and your family don't use Bible, but just to give you a biblical perspective on things that very well may parallel scripture from the Quran, at 2 Timothy 3:1-5 it says... 1 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power; and from these turn away. \nYou may be able to get away from the moral decline of where you live now, but honestly, these things are going to be world wide eventually if they aren't already. But there will be a time when God (for me his name is Jehovah), will step in and fix things. In the meantime, It's awesome you are putting your family first. As for recommendations of where to relocate also consider Suranime where 14% of the population is Muslim. Since I've lived in Islamic lands the world has changed so much that xenophobia against even other Muslims in countries that used to be so welcoming to the stranger but for a variety of reason is also factor you MUST consider. God is good and will guide you.

How things change. I was a kid in Etobicoke in the early 60s and we used to go shopping in the Coverdale mall. Lots of cars in the car park had keys left in the ignition it was so crime free. Canadian employers and often hiring managers are very very conservatives and risk adverse. Both as someone who grew up here, worked abroad and came back, the whole process for getting a job (as well as seeing how my colleagues behave as hiring managers / HR), it feels we are decades behind most countries in how we hire. \n\nIf not for my previous Canadian experience before going abroad, it would've been much harder for me to get any employment here. Moreover hiring managers are insanely close minded relatively, I've had countless discussions with people who would rather go with a worse candidate that they know from previous or referral than someone who's obviously more qualified / knowledgeable. It's also possible that the hiring managers have no confidence in their own ability to gauge skills (long LONG rant in this regard...), so they always prefer to go the safest route (for themselves) rather than take any risk on someone who's more skilled.\n\nCanada is (well.. used to, 10 years+ ago) great to live but it's horrendous to make a living.\n\nwith everything going to a shitshow over last decade... we can't even have the first half of that sentence anymore. As someone in his late twenties living in Quebec, I got to say this is very accurate. I won't say things are as bad as some other people are saying in the comments, but I do feel like the country is going downhill. For me, these are the main three things that feels wrong:\n\n1. We, as citizen, tend to offload every responsibility to the governments. Each election, they promise to handle more, but fail times and times again to deliver on their existing responsibilities. But we still vote for them, because we fear personal responsibilities. They created these immovable bureaucratic monsters and they lost control. They promise new shiny things instead of fixing what is already in place.\n2. We lost all notion of what is necessary. People gets more and more entitled which leads to overconsumption and frustation. Quebecers used to be proud peoples who survived with the little they had. Now greed has consumed our identity and nothing is holder us together.\n3. I feel that jobs are less and less useful to the society. Even I, as an electronic/software engineer, wonder if my job as meaning. I feel we lost touch with the concrete world. Some people have 0 contribution to anything useful and have really good salary and work conditions, while others bust their ass in shitty conditions. I feel like everything that we need is produced/done by a frighteningly small amount of individuals.\n\nBut from what I heard Canada isn't the only country to feel these. In the end it all depends on both the kids AND the parents. If they genuinely bring the parents over for the parents own sake its WONDERFUL, BUT....the truth is, that the cost of living in these countries is so high AND, the kids want to attain and maintain a certain standard of living, that BOTH husband and wife NEEDS to go out to work..and what happens is that they end up USING the parents only for babysitting, cooking cleaning etc.... AND for their PENSIONS.... But they're given no respect. So its up to the parents also. BCZZ they're SO vital to the survival of the family unit...they have that power to stand up for themselves and get the respect they deserve. But the thing is, indian parents are martyrs.....they will suffer AND complain...but they will never abandon their kids and let them suffer....so that cycle of misery and disrespect never breaks.... and the situation never changes. The best thing is for the parents to get that pension and go back home every six mths, and at least enjoy some of their life. Sad but true.???

I would encourage Canadians to get involved more in politics and demand changes to the system. Housing is high in Canada due to lack of building permits and blue collar laborers. Canada accepted a high rate of white collar skill immigrants but lack job opportunities for them. Vancouver economy is tourism dependent while Alberta is energy base and Toronto financial base. Healthcare is available for every Canadian but salaries are low in the industry compared to US. The government should encourage companies to invest in Canada and create jobs for the economy. Since the tax rate in Canada is higher compared to the US, citizens should ask themselves if the money is going to good use and generating jobs in the economy.

I was told i couldn't use my citizenship card to prove I'm a citizen then when it was stolen I tried to replace it and the office that deals with replacing citizenship cards and documents refused to help me replace my stolen card they sent me to a site that wasn't updated since 2016 and the sit told me to go to the office i showed the officer this and they said it wasn't their responsibility

A couple of times when shopping here in Vancouver, I've been followed. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. This is the brilliant system brought in by Stephen Harper's conservatives, which brings in people with high education, and allegedly high skills, especially high language skills, so the government doesn't have to pay for their language training, but it doesn't consider the fact that these are very often people with other choices, who are not willing to work in construction or farming or service or retail or all those kinds of things that we desperately need workers in. The reason why we can't build enough housing has nothing to do with local governments and property values. It has to do with lack of labor. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. We bought our own reels of 3 inch wide recording tape because the studio wanted twice the rate as normal and since my studio was a distributor for the mastering tapes we brought from my own inventory. Each reel of tape was 3 lbs and brought 30 reels. We got to customs and they said we owed money for importing the tape. Normally a reel would have been $180, and customs wanted $38,000 x 20, and would not let us retrieve it to take it back to the US side of the border. How can a tape worth $180 suddenly have duty of $38,000?\nIt was explained to me as the Potential Value of the tape which meant AFTER a hit song was recording in it. Most recordings are total losses and the tape cant used on a new project even if properly bulk-erased. They expected me to pay on the spot $760,000 in duties. I gave up and left the tape with them. I called the artist and said we could not do the project in Canada and we went back to California. The artist came to us a few months later and the result was a minor hit, and probably barely made its production cost since the label only distributed it in Canada. I talked to an international trade lawyer about what happened and he said customs officials were wrong in Canada but they are given full latitude with no appeal so his advice was never take anything over the border that I did not mind being confiscated. Sometimes they would let it in because it was going back out in a month, but likely they sold it off and pocketed the money. The US is corrupt on a federal level but Canada is corrupt on the local level. I moved out of the US 24 years ago have a much higher quality of life than is even possible in the US, and live very cheaply. Total cost of living with a very active social and cultural life impossible to duplicate in the US which as some of the least options for culture. And my cost of living is $1500 a month, less than utilities alone for one house in California, and that is for 2 people. Last month for example I attended world class opera, ballet and symphonies 9 times, and went out to dinner, in jazz clubs or dance clubs, visited12 top museums, and it was still under $1500 for the month. A pair of tickets to the MET in NYC for lower grade performance, sets, orchestra ad theater, was $1800!! $600 for tickets to drama for 2. Here there 237 drama theaters within walking distance of my city center home, and can walk anywhere at any time of day and be safe due to VERY low crime rates. Free medical is good. I am not citizen but still I had an operation and 10 days in a vip single room for $5300 and despite my insurance I had been paying back in California $824.month, it was going to cost me out o pocket $500,000 and one day in a recovery 12 bed room, and require paid nursing attendant for 30 days. The results were great and was treated like king.\nCanadians have lost control of their government but Americas are screwed regardless, with lower than international standards for everything, with crime, corruption in Washington, extreme cost of living, no access to culture, few if any safe parks. My adopted city is not only far more beautiful than any US city, my GF can walk, alone, anywhere in a city of 7mil at any time of day through any of the 600 beautiful parks open 24/7..at 3am. There are no homeless, and 80% of those over 20yo own their home clear of debt. No college debt despite twice the % of people having degrees. The rest of the world caught up and has surpassed the US and Europe in quality of life. \n\nI have only been back to the US 5 times in 24 years and each time I am shocked by how much the entire society has declined while most of the world outside of Europe, Canada, US, UK or Australia have dramatically improved.\nEvery year since 2008 more Americans leave the US to live elsewhere than legal immigrants arrive.

But why hasn't the Arab world taken action yet? After witnessing 66 days of slaughter of innocent human beings? The whole Muslim world, except Yemen, has no dignity whatsoever. All of these Govts can only speak,that too only some of them are doing. I just wonder how everyone of us is going to answer Allah about each and every innocent life lost, injured and displaced. Just look at our faith, that has weakened to the point that more than 2 billion Muslims feel helpless about the situation. It is obligatory on each and every one of us to perform Jihad and protect the people and land of Falasteen with every drop of blood and bone we have, but we can only say words. This is why we must carry on with the boycott religiously, with regards to whatever we can boycott, except social media ofcourse. And we, as in Muslims must look for ways to pressure our govts to help Falasteen. We must help them financially too. May Allah make us stronger in our faith in Him, provide us with opportunities, strength and courage so that we can all unite together properly to pressurize our govts to make use of our military resources for the reason Allah blessed us with them. Can't say I'm surprised with the answers, most Canadians I know wont even vacation in America anymore, the situation is just too volatile. I am talking to my friends and family back home and they all say, you are in better condition than us, at least you are earning with dollars. Lol what? I spent with dollars too. It’s not like I earn with dollars and go back and spent with 1:20 ratio. And you are spending 2000$ flight ticket to get there which used to get it for 800$ with promotion. They are like everything is 10x more expensive. Everything is 2x more expensive but when you have high quality lifestyle the feels like is actually a lot more. Mortgage rates went up 5 times more compared to the one in covid times. That impacts who has variable mortgage or the one has fixed concerned about their renewal.
