The US wants to stop illegal immigration and the importation of drugs from Mexico.\nMexico does not care at all. The tariffs were to incentivise Canada and Mexico to help stop the flow of fentanyl into the u.s. the tariffs didn't need to happen. if these governments helped curb drug flow by securing their own borders there wouldn't have been tariffs. Instead they sided with China that makes the drug that kills 15,000 people a year in the u.s.. these people's blood is on your hands and your reason for doing it? you don't like trump.. you just had to secure the borders so people would stop needlessly dying, but you just wouldn't do it..

I am not really a fan of the tariffs Trump is imposing like lightning with Canada. I do think they should stop the walk thought to Us boarder security. I think they should however be an equal partner in securing their boarder. I don’t believe it is as much of a fentanyl thing but maybe I don’t know enough details in that.

Why do our Canadian politicians refuse to establish a strategy to stop fentanyl at our borders as requested by Trump ?, a crisis that is destroying the United States. It has nothing to do with illegal immigration or drugs into the US. The Canadian border is only responsible for 1% of illegal immigration into the US. As for fentanyl, the problem is not coming from Canada.

Illegal crossings and fentanyl (less than 1% coming from Canada) are just excuses to justify the tariffs. His end goal is to bring revenue to the US by means of foreign taxation.

We must support our citizens with the needed assistance to overcome addiction and offer assistance to prevent those not yet involved with fentanyl.

I don't think the average viewer knows why the US is doing this. They're trying to combat illegal immigration and fentanyl as well as Mexican compliance with the drug cartels.\n\nThe reason tariffs are being used is because America is in a very powerful position when it comes to trade. The american economy doesn't rely on trade like Canada (67%), Mexico (73%) and China (37%). American trade accounts for only 24% of its massive GDP. if you removed all trade from america, it would still have larger economical output than china, mexico and canada COMBINED. yes. Combined. \n\nFurthermore, Canadian trade with america account for almost 80% of all trade in canada. A 25% increase would be absolutely devastating to canada. In america its about 13% so a 25% increase would cost more but it wont have any significant impact.\n\nNo doubt this tarrif war will cause far more problems for canada mexico and china than america. By a LOT. \n\nI dont think america is being selfish either. China does nothing to protect america from sending precursor chemicals to america to manufacture fentanyl. Canada facilitates illegal immigration and fentanyl into america with no accountability. And mexico is illegal immigrants by the MILLIONS and is literally working with the drug cartels. Fentanyl is the #1 cause of death between the ages of 18 to 45 in the US. We are losing over 100,000 US citizens to this drug. Where are allies to help the US?

I'm an American canada, and Mexico had a chance to do something about the drugs and illegals pouring into our country they have refused so they wanna play let's play. 200 Americans die every day due to fentanyl.

Trump doesn't accept calls from Canada ofc because this is not about border security nor the 1% fentanyl going into the US. It is about being hawkish and potentially annexation of Canada in the far future. \nThese tariffs make way more sense against Mexico, considering the amount of border issues and fentanyl infiltrating in the US, but tariffs against Canada is just BS.

Yea I don’t believe it’s the fentanyl that’s the issue Trump has, I believe it’s the business with China. China is using the benefit of both of these countries free trade agreement and Trump is punishing Canada and Mexico for it.
