I have applied to universities in Toronto, Canada as an international student for September 2024. But I’ve also been accepted to a university in Victoria, British Columbia. I am now second-guessing my application because so many Canadians are disappointed with the state Toronto is in right now. Is it still worth it to go and pursue my education? (I’m planning to continue in my major until masters, then do research to help my home country but still live in Canada)

I have visited the United States many, many MANY, MANY times over the years. I've loved every single visit. The people are warm and lovely....some of your scenery and historic things were more than a joy to behold Would I ever want to move there ? Not even for a second. In fact, sadly, my husband won't even go back for a visit anymore. This is sad to me, but I understand where he is coming from. \nWas sad to say good-bye to our dearest friends who moved to the US, because the job pay and promotion was impossible to say no to. They lasted 2 months and settled for less pay and no promotion to come back home. They found it so weird, that all the new friends they made, thought they were freaks because they didn't own guns. The final straw was when they learned these people were packing when they came to summer barbeques. That was the final straw, and they high-tailed it home. \nIn recent times, a country run by someone I see as a loose cannon, psychopath...makes it a most emphatic NO.

I'm perfectly happy with Canada and being Canadian. My business is thriving. I don't own a house (i'm 50) and probably won't. They aren't good investments and both a recession and a housing crash are necessary to lower prices. \n\nLet me say something about the housing crisis - it's not immigration. Canadians are overleveraged. Many own second, third and fourth properties that they rent out. Once they have to renew into the teeth of higher rates you'll start to see a correction like what we saw in the 1980s. Couple that with higher unemployment and you have a recipe for a crash. Everyone wants lower house prices -- until we get them. Go try to renew your 600,000k mortgage on your million-dollar house that's now worth $800,000. \n\nHealth care is a problem - but where isn't it? The UK? The US? Many parts of the US are close to third-world countries. \n\nI'm happy here. The rest of the world seems bonkers by comparison. Go ahead and leave.

With a number of retiree appear and get out of the country every year, if canada stop attract more people, their country will be collapsed in the future.\nUnlike us which is a smaller country that has nearly 350 mil people, canada is the second biggest country with nearly 41 mil people. Additionally, if we deduct the number of people who are not in the work force such as : children, old people, pregnant woman.... canada definitely doesnt have enough workers. Not to memtion, intermational students are also one of the main income for the government. So i dont think there is a reason for not issuing more visas.\nOf course, more people will lead to more problems. But i dont think the outsiders will try to cause a problem after spending time, finance and effort.

I came to Canada 4 years ago as an International Student and now have been working for 2 years. We as international student spent almost all our fortune to study in Canada and work for Canadian companies after graduation. A lot of my engineering majors are also working for government project to build more houses. Therefore, if people are working together on this, Canada could even thrive more given we are the second largest country in the world.

Listened to your vlog and I want to suggest few things as an immigrant myself... I am not sure of your detials but seems like your husband came back after 2 months leaving you there with family.. I have rarely seen any family settling abroad unless they have seriously burnt all there bridges back home.. if you start with a mindset that let's go and see and if doesn't work out we will come back 90% odds are you will go back.. firstly come with absolutely clear mind that no matter what happens you are not going back.. and you will make it here no matter what. The journey will become much easier and one directional.. Secondly you do not have to rely on any family abroad to move.. this is an other mistake people make.. they think they will have support but this support is actually a limiting option ... it doesn't let you get on feet quicker. Nobody can support you for long abroad and sooner than later you have to get on your feet. once you over stay your welcome you can start getting some unwelcoming vibes and then you get depressed thinking there is no one genuinely yours in this country.. you waste your initial time relying on your family.. better start without them in the first place and get going from day one.. and lastly 2 3 months is nothing to settle any where let alone in Canada.. you have to be patient, persistent and focused and after 2 years and after seeing all the calendar and religious seasons twice, you finally start to think of new place as your home.. its hard but in the end it's truly worth it and then you can never go back to India or Pakistan

One issue you did not talking about is the international students taking the Canadian universities space from the Canadian citizen students. Especially for doctorate degrees canada government allowed only 3% of Canadian student to enter to this program the same as for dentist, laws and other this is unjust, and discrimination against the canadine citizen students after all those international students are not Canadian citizen and their English languish is the second languish, why a Canadian citizen student have to go to USA or other countries and pay doubles fees in order to get in to those programs. \nI want the government canada in order to make it right approving 97% of Canadian student application for those programs in all universities in canada and only 3% application for international students. This will resolve the discrimination issue, the houses crises, and the shorter of Canadian citizen doctor’s in canada. ??

There's a simple solution here, force the schools to provide sufficient housing to whomever of their students that wants it. This is absolutely solvable if they want it to be, and they shouldn't be competing with low-income folks for family housing. \n\nAlso, those second tier schools should only provide classes that match up with Canada's needs in terms of trained workers

I'm Canadian who took the same decision a few years ago, I've wasted 13 years of my life in Canada, I lost my money, skills, motivations that I brought with me. I left my grown up children there because I can't sell my values to get some Canadian dollars. We went to Canada to help and to have freedom, not to be discriminated and get hired in low-level jobs. I'm happy that I left and I enjoy the sunny weather most of the year in my home country even if I have little money. It was a wrong decision to be in Canada especially after I've seen high-school graduates got hired in positions that I've Bachelor's degree can't get it. I've been graduated from a Canadian college but still can't get those jobs. It's not acceptable to be a second-degree citizen just to get a blue passport.

International students are now a 30B industry, not 22B anymore. Secondly, the students themselves mostly from India are here for PR purposes. Education is secondly for mostly even from other countries.

Free Tuition for Canadians and the complaints about international would go away pretty quick! Secondly, if the school is not providing housing then they are limited to what they do provide, no housing no 60k tuition fees!

That's definitely a responsibility of Canada's government and public schools themselves. You should never consider getting more and more students to this country if you don't have a clue how to manage this educational business properly. Moreover, the federal government should consider making better use of the existing budget to leverage AI models to do this job if nobody can tell how many students those public schools are able to accommodate for the next academic year. Today's AI can perform better than people think they do in such a matter of computing. Let the professional do their job. You just input all your available resources as a number of parameters into the AI models, and in just a few seconds, they can tell you how many international students one province should accept.

Outstanding news, I've always seen Islam as one of the biggest threats to Western civilization, progressive left wing ideology a close second. Hopefully the trend continues for Islamic emigration such that we only have the one issue to deal with in future! That s why i also made choice to move out in Colombia on the beach for my retirement.Then im here giving some advise. I would hope you could find happiness in Canada. One of my concerns about living in a theocratic country would always be, is this choice really your own? Can you ever be certain, if faced with violations of your rights, that the choice is really yours? And, if not, can you consider yourselves as choosing Islam, rather than being forced into it, even if in absence of theocratic rule, you would have chosen it anyways? Maybe I’m overthinking it. This is what multi culturalism brings. Cities only remain safe when you have a homogenous population. The second you begin importing millions of people with wildly different cultures and opinions on the optimal way to live and what behaviors are accepted in public, cities become garbage dumps.

I lived in Toronto from '95-2000, 2003-2004, and finally from 2010-2019, and watching its slide has been terrible. But I'm old enough to remember what it was like in the late '70s when it was still functional and people had no yet become miserable. It's astonishing what greed and stupidity can do. As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. By no means am I poor, either. I got lucky with both real estate and stocks. Yet, I feel like I am working to just get by, while being taxed well beyond what I am getting in return.

Oh as a second note, if any immigrant is watching this and is considering moving here. DON'T. And it's not because your not wanted which by the way is a growing trend with Canadians wanting less immigration. But simply for the fact that Trudeau and his policies for the past 8 years has damaged this nation beyond recognition. There is a good chance you'll end up with a low wage job or pan handling to make money (I've seen such a massive increase in immigrant pan handlers the past few years, it's unsettling). Its going to take at least a decade of reversing and implementing new policies to get Canada back on track to where it was 10 years ago, then take another decade to catch up to where it should be now. So if you do end up here and didn't heed my warning, then at the very least DO NOT VOTE LEFT (Liberal, NDP, Green) because it's these parties especially Liberals that has gotten us to this point.
