Easy fix. CHOOSE where you spend money. Choose who you work for and supply support for. Choose Canadian business that have ties to Canada not another country, make sure the income from businesses and personal gains stay in Canada. Canadian $$$ needs to stay here, not support another Country. I know a gentleman that can't figure out why I laugh at him and don't support a thing he does. Immigrated here over 10 years ago, he talks about going HOME every winter to Africa. HMMMM so this tells me a few things about him and my Country. The first is he has a piece of paper that says he is Canadian but he actually is just a scammer, this should be his home or he just filled out some paperwork and took a camp job for 6 months a year just to take our money and go HOME (another Country), that is a scammer. I spend my winters in the states. Cost are abhorrent there as well—even in a state like Missouri. Might be smart to seek out a more rural area in Canada.

Real estate agents are the biggest culprits in the rise of prices. I’ve been there several times as telling me my house is worth hundreds of thousands more or we can say exaggerated by 30% or more then my house is on the market for a year which is nota big deal for an agent they have 40 other listings and access to more moneymakers , I’ve sold my last 2 homes personally within days or weeks which were reasonably priced not overpriced this made everyone happy . Building a home is never a problem buy the land get proper permits and select a quality builder I’ve had steady employment and certainly not rich blue collar salary and never have been refused for a mortgage so if you want to build it’s always available , if you qualify for a mortgage.\nAs for your immigration babble do you like to eat food if the answer is yes you should appreciate immigrants, do you like the care you get in hospitals thanks again to immigrant nurses caregivers therapists, how about the next time you stay at a hotel/resort thank immigrants for cooking and cleaning , \nSure stuff costs more you can put some blame on lifetime pensions for politicians and senators for a few years work , over the top spending on government trips , the Governor General expense on wardrobe, minister of whatever buying new boots or shoes to make an announcement total abuse of taxpayer $ , government projects which get cancelled for who knows why and many projects which are unnecessary which are beneficial only to family and friends giving their private businesses contracts , same old guys club new blood is required with new ideas and purpose . \nCanada is expensive I’ll agree but still top 10 to reside in the world if you like life and freedom , eating regularly, lights on , water from your tap, getting to your job on real roads , getting an abortion , not expecting a hospital bill when you arrive home from heart surgery, the list goes on , whiners are are whiners the rest are makers and make our lives better .as for other post saying things are so much cheaper in the states , I don’t pay 10$ for a carton of eggs this happened last year in Arizona state the facts ,

Dear blame it on your politicians.They wanted cheap labor and that cheap labor also bring along millions of dollars that partial run Canadian economy .Then the international students majority of whom again from India add billions to the Canadian economy.If you need money and the cheap labor then you have no option but to bear them.Canadian are used to living on various government doles and they do not do the hard work while these immigrants are fighting for their survival, work terribly hard and that too at very cheap rates and they save a part of their earnings which eventually make them home owners.Canadian on the contrary used to living on government aid at many the levels, earn, spend and enjoy and thats the reason they are homeless.Sorry for making ripples.

I just want you guys to know that I live in a 3rd world country in Southeast Asia and make about $500 per month. I pay $100 a month for a 100 SQM room (I personally know the owners of the property), I don't pay carbon taxes, I spends less than $100 on food per month.

ADVICES to some students: Do not come to Canada!! Why come here??? It is free to study in France and Germany anyway so why waste your money in Canada or Australia!!! Save your money and invest it in your homeland to start a business or buy a land or build a house!!! Canada is NIT a as attractive as it was anymore anyway due to lack of job opportunities, crappy healthcare, crappy transportation (compared to France where I come from), and impossible rents!!! Just save your money and may be start learning German and/or French so that you got alternatives!!!!

Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

Immigration can be good but it has been the ruin of Canada in years. I had to spend 150k more for my home. I can't go see a doctor for 3.5 months with an appointment. Emergency rooms are a disaster and the traffic in downtown is horrific. I don't care about getting my Amazon package half a day sooner, I don't get Tim Hortons often and I'm certainly not ordering food with some random guy coming to my home who demands I give him a five star rating.

I actually lived under communism in Poland when I was a small child and it was sick system. Only a in special chain of stores called Pevex that provided imports from the west you could go and buy LEGO. Think is you couldn't do it with your regular commie currency and had to have USD, a further problem was you it was illegal to own foreign currency by a private citizen, so you after a relative from abroad sending you some normal money the state kept it and instead you were given basically a funny monopoly money you could only spend at Pevex. After capitalism was introduced you could buy LEGO in other stores and with regular currency everywhere and it was legal to own USD by private citizens.

My friends only go for green card nothing else student visa is just a mask for your government... Their only aim is to get a service job and spend 3 to 5 yrs and and get a free food from food bank and criticize government on daily basis... ??

These students are spending 90% of time working, but never show up in class. They are free riders in the group projects. Please only keep students who are serious and respecting their colleges and universities in Canada.

I won't be voting for PP. He's taking on the low hanging fruit of taxing and the spending, which will be sufficient to get elected. But the most important issue is immigration, and PP shows no sign of taking that on or even speaking honestly about it.

I have talked with many of the people from India ,it is very common for them to come to Canada through the education system just to get a work permit then quit school, work and send the money that they made to India instead of spending it in Canada. They have YouTube and podcasts within their community that discuss how they can subvert the Canadian system.They go for the highest paying jobs they can get with the lowest credentials such a trucking putting them in direct competition with Canadians of lower means.

Instead of at the time redirecting half of those two it was 500 billion take a half of that investment in putting it into infrastructure technology innovation for industries. Our education systems from kindergarten through to postsecondary education and spending it on the Canadians that were here. We've turned our post-secondary institutions in Canada into diploma Mills where you know your VA and your you know postgraduate degrees or you know they're worthless. However the government and the education system grew into a very profitable industry grinding out worthless degree after worthless degree for foreign students who thought when they got these degrees with 50% of Canadians have. People have to realize that post-secondary education is a big business so they're going to sell you a dream that's going to cost you a lot of money what I suggest is when YouTubers want to do something on Canada do some proper research let people know that we really do have quality post-secondary education system but you have to look at when you graduate those jobs going to be there to pay that large salary does White collar jobs are disappearing almost gone I purchase an app for my company with small company about 10 employees this inexpensive app alone has taken my office staff from 7: to 2: I have a 10 Red seal tradesman tradeswomen these 10 highly skilled trades people earn between 125 and 145,000 a year in gross salary and I need five more of these highly skilled people and I can't find them cuz everybody's running in to get a useless postgraduate degree. I do find it slightly offensive that a lot of new immigrants new Canadians immigrate to Canada to purely exploit it for its wealth Canada should be looked at as a place to come put your hard work in the struggles the ups and downs? and look at it as your home instead of you know a piggy bank but people are going to leave and there's a long line up to get in I've seen in my 40 year career you know three major reps and three major downs. What's happening in Canada's economy and the economies around the world it's all the same the US economy's doing quite well and talked to last couple of weeks friends that have invested their and families have been there long-term at present the United States is building a war economy so there's money pouring into that effort it does have a booming you know Hi-Tech boom as well however the tech boom is offshore with American companies and it's taking place in a part of the world that no one would think it would take place so if your graduate in the tech industry go online do a little research you'll find out where it is the USA is building a huge chip factories I think they just poured in 70 or 80 billion dollars we're in a transitioning economy don't get discouraged put your head into it do your homework find out where these new jobs are coming from which jobs are not going to be here. Traditional White collar you know middle management upper management jobs they've been gone for years everyone's think of themselves as an independent contractor. VANCOUVER BC CANADA - my home since 1972 , I used to work up North underground mining - drilling / blasting for 8+ months and then take the summer off \nand play golf and have fun - you can go to the beach and skiing on the mountains all on the same day - 1st came the Mass Immigration from Asia where Real Estate \nPrices 2 X and 3 X - Now ever thing here only the rich can afford - We have close to 5000 people homeless as 1 bedroom starts at $2000 a month if you can \nfind one - most people have to share . MEANWHILE 1+ Million new comers - New Voters are given food , shelter , spending money and some will be on Welfare \nfor life as many lack language skills and have little education = $$$ BILLIONS $$$ TAX PAYERS MONEY DISAPPEARS - TIME TO BRING IN THE MILITARY !

We as a family of expats moved to Canada as our 3rd country, my wife and I have good paying jobs and Toronto is simply too expensive for us with two kids. We are now moving out of Canada to our 4th and final country. Toronto after the pandemic is too expensive for us. You don’t get much in return to what you spend and you will not be able to buy a home here!

Speaking as a Canadian who have left the country in 2021 and NOT looking back! \n1) healthcare: the quality and quantity is falling dramatically. Doctors are leaving south, healthcare budgets are keep being cut every year by our wonderful government. The quality is very poor. Waiting lines are insane! Ilyou can seriously spend the while day/night with your sick child in a waiting line at a hospital. Average is over 12 hrs already!!! \n2) criminal situation is worsening every year. Even in the best neighborhoods you no longer feel safe. \n3) schools/education: same thing. Teachers are leaving due to low wages and larger classes. Separate tutors for kids with special needs are being more and more limited. \n4) i know you mentioned it, but i want to reinstate: CRAZY food inflation. \nI have no idea how people are making it in Canada. Get this drama idiot of of the government people ? I want my Canada to prosper and thrive, not keep falling down the cliff

I lived in canada for past 35 years. I am married with 3 kids. I work like a dog 60 hrs a week , i pay heavy taxes on my salary soo the government can give away hard tax payers money to people who scam the system. Examples are walfare and ontario works. I know people that get $1350 minimum on odsp and they are more than capable of working but choose to scam the sysytem collect free money and work cash jobs for less money and take away jobs from others. Hate this country now and cant wait to leave and shift else where were i can happily retire and watch my kids grow up and spend time with my family since everything in canada is soo expensive i have to work overtime and my wife also started working part time?

I still think the No 1 reason is the weather. If you are a top talent, you don't want to spend 4-6 months in snow. The government has to work extra hard to make the country attractive, but they are not. I also don't think elected a different leader fixes the problem. Elected leaders can't fix systematic issues, US is a perfect example. Don't have good solution, just ranting here.
