I'm an immigrant, and here is my opinion: If something is illegal, then it should be prevented and fixed. If someone breaks the law, there must be consequences. If you don't like it and you want undocumented or illegal immigrants for any reason like economy or humanity, then change the law. But the law should always be abided by and enforced. You make a legal procedure and admit immigrants based on the needs of the country and the applicants' merits. And of course, some percentage for the refugees whose life is in danger.

just deceived by a new Indian immigrant, and it feels terrible. About 10 days ago, I posted an advertisement for a parking spot rental in front of my apartment condo. I then received a call from someone who said he had just moved here from India and needed a parking spot. I explained that parking spots here are rented on a monthly basis. He said that was fine, but he wanted to first pay only for the days from October 24 to October 31, and then he would pay for the following month. I thought that was acceptable, so I agreed.However, on October 31, he didn’t make the payment as expected. When I asked, he said he would pay on November 1. The next day, when I hadn’t received the payment, I followed up, and he promised to pay the following morning. By noon on November 2, I still hadn’t received the payment, so I messaged him again, but he didn’t respond. It was only later in the evening when he finally replied, saying he no longer needed the parking spot and that I could rent it to someone else. Then i asked how to deal with the rest of the payment of these days for the parking he already used, no reply anymore. At that moment, I really felt deceived. Why so much like getting smart with others?

the main concept of any foreign govt giving permanent residency is whether you fulfil the need for them, so this is good for people who have some skills and can positively contribute but anyone who just wants to go for the sake of going there is not going to get anything , they better study and then return .. this is nothing different from UK, its very hard to get Tier 2 visa in UK unless your job is in shortage or in the occupation list but the difference is that Canada has been very lenient in the past allowing people clearing just 10 years of schooling also getting student visas, this has not happened in UK as people come to study bachelor's or master when they have completed full 12+ years of schooling in their home country.. may be it was needed then in Canada but now its not the same case..so if govt is taking this step its first in the interest of the local people including the ones who have gained citizenship with proper procedure..

Government should have done this much earlier , yes Canada may need immigrants but not those who can’t follow the rules of this land and the ones who thinks that they are still in there home country and don’t want to change them self . As someone commented already, we are needed but not wanted. Dealing with Auslanderbehorde is still a mess with long wait times, and what not. There are lot of things which simply doesn’t make sense. It doesn't always snow in Vancouver; some years like the last 2 years we had NO snow at all. But yes, it still gets cold and sometimes icy so make sure you have a winter coat, mittens or gloves and boots. Ear muffs are used by some while others wear a warm hat and sometimes there's a hat attached to your coat so that makes it easier. Stock up on either regular table salt or you can buy a heavier type of salt especially used to sprinkle where you want the ice to melt; like your driveway. Your car will need winter tires too and the guys at any gas station can put them on for you for a reasonable price while you wait. I'd also recommend buying a heating pad for your bed....one that covers the entire bed....it's just oh so nice to turn it on to high a while before climbing in; it feels like heaven and you'll be asleep real fast. When there's 2 people in a bed they can each adjust their side to whatever the degree of heat they want. Good night.......
