We’ve been here since more than a year now and we don’t have a car and we love the pollution free air here and the work life balance. If you live downtown, you don’t need a car as public transport is very convenient. If you don’t want to do things on your own and you definitely need the help from maids and so on, then Canada isn’t for you. It all depends on where you find a house. Very few people in downtown own cars. If you want to live a healthier life, Canada is a good place for that. We came in winters and settled with the help of relatives and thankfully it’s been good so far. Summers are amazing here. Job market is a struggle currently but it’s not permanent. And it is possible to find a job from India if you try for it. If you’re in IT, you don’t need to start from scratch. There are Indian stores almost everywhere and many Indian restaurants as well. You just need to find your place. And it’s an amazing place for plant based vegan people. Food quality is amazing and great safety restrictions. Healthcare also depends on where you live. If you find your people and friends and keep socializing with family, loneliness won’t be there. It’s better to move to a new country when you don’t have kids. \nAlso the accent gradually develops and there’s nothing to worry about. This place is very diverse and there are people with very different accents from all around the world. There is some struggle initially but it all depends on what your priorities are. Life here is very comfortable once you get used to the lifestyle here and the biggest thing is, work life balance and the quality of life. If you want to do things other than your job, this is a good place to do that. Kids also become much more independent here. Rest it all depends on what your goals in life are. Also one of the biggest factors is, if your partner/husband isn’t willing to help with housework or cooking, you can’t survive here. As simple as that. Many factors to consider.

It's hilarious because universities are the biggest scam going and were made completely obsolete by technology about 10 years ago - in 2024, there's no reason at all (other than greed) why every student in the entire world couldn't log on to the same online classroom at Harvard (or pick your school). To take this point further, with a moderate amount of discipline (which, I'll concede not everyone has) you could learn almost anything you want to, for free, online.

The biggest problem is obviously housing, and while Canada has never in its history built more than 200K homes in a year, last year in 2024 Canada let in over 1M immigrants which equals 8 years of housing construction, while the Liberals have an immigration quota for 500K immigrants per year. Canada has to ban all immigration including International students for the next 2 decades. It will take Canada 20 years to build enough housing to increase inventory and lower the actual cost of housing, essentially bursting the largest housing bubble the world has ever seen.

I lived here since 1961. The biggest negative changes have occurred over the last 25 years. Which\nmeans traffic sucks, too many downtown roads closed, unused bike lanes steal car travel lanes. Toronto is generally dirtier and meaner than in 60s, 70s, 80s, even 90s. People are less friendly, less polite, less caring, and reside in self contained cultural enclaves. I used to ride the subway daily till 1990s, but i was shocked by my recent ride, with delays, so overcrowded slow service and bummy looking passengers now, scary. Quite a negative unwelcoming transformation!?

Kanada was a decent country whose biggest advantage was being a geographically connected ally of the most powerful country in history. Kanada could never be great on its own but it had just the right combination of factors that allowed it to enjoy peace and prospertiy based on Western values, abundant resources, a small population, shared values and the econonic benefits of close ties with the US. Well, Kanada is now losing all of that so all the reasons for living in Kanada are also being lost.

Never had any problem in having halal food, zero security related issues, zero racism. Well balanced work and life, moderate inflation but you never really can feel it. In short, its an ideal place to live and raise your kids here. Alhamdulillah. We also decided long time back to move to Canada or New Zealand but the brought up of our kids was the biggest reason that we never did it. The biggest cause for the cost of living increase we've seen in Canada in the last decade can be largely attributed to government policy regarding immigration. Not the fault of anyone coming here. Foreign immigration agencies and the Canadian government are selling people false hopes. They are doing newcomers and Canadians a disservice.
