It is what it is, and Trump is what he is. The whole world has no choice but to let all this nonsense unfold.

Who will pay the tariffs?? Yup, grassroot americans that soon may find the price of the fruits imported from Mexico jumps up 25% and also the oil price + raw minerals imported from Canada would jump 25% as well, which at the end, would seriously affects the price of end products of some daily items needed by grassroot americans

How to suck money out of savings accounts of the end consumers? Tariffs on all the popular products you can't domestically produce.

I fear we’re about to learn the same lesson again…\n\nAs far as the drug trade goes apparently the GOV doesn’t spend enough time on the internet because the cartels are no longer just in Mexico they’re in the USA and in Canada. They have learned the Canadian border is a lot easier to cross and they can get into BC pretty easily due to relaxed immigration policies In Canada.. they probably don’t actually know where the drugs are coming from or where they’re being manufactured entirely. The cartels are probably a step ahead of them at the moment. \n\nI can’t believe the auto industry lobbyists were not instructed to go full send on the detriment of the opposite position taken from the NAFTA. The only thing I can see is auto sales are slumping and maybe they can blame this on the tariff policy for massive restructuring. \n\nI kind of understand wanting to negotiate with Mexico because they probably buy less American goods than Americans buy Mexican goods (drugs excluding) but I’m guessing Canada is a better customer of American goods than Americans are of Canadian goods. Why would you want to upset a good partner, customer, and ally!? It’s Beyond my comprehension…. If Trump was really smart he’d convince some factories to actually invest in Mexico with cooperation from the Mexican government investing in efficient transportation from the manufacturing sectors to the American border and the coasts for distribution. This would likely really help their economy and change the whole dynamic of all the things Trump has issues with. Fix it at the source not try to treat the symptoms.

We europeans already started to boycott US products. I will buy european products first, then canadian, australian, japanese and so on. US is at the end of the list, with China.

It will only make both Canada and Mexico to trade with other countries, while the USA starts being isolated from other countries more and more. In the end it's only gonna be the ordinary people who's gonna suffer

Mexico and Canada imposing tariffs on the US is not going to hurt us like they think. We have more ships and planes and are able to move more goods faster to other countries who will buy. Not to mention the fact that Mexico and Canada were never fair to us in trading. In the end they will have hurt themselves way more then the US. Why do you think Trump has done this and most of us are not worried.

Canada should think about selling its oil to South Korea instead of the US. South Korea is the 4th largest buyer of oil in the world & 80% of it is shipped from the Middle East region with much higher price than what Canada charges the US. Even if Canada charges South Korea with the same high price the Middle East nations charge, South Korea will end up saving money because the shipping distance from Canada is much closer than the Middle East region. It's a win-win case for both Canada & South Korea.

Tariffs can be a useful tool but it shouldn't be the only tool. For this US president it's like his only tool. Applying tariffs to everything is like trying to use a hammer to fix everything. It will just end up hurting ordinary people ?

Canada followed US to put 100% tariff on Chinese EVs, will probably end up paying even more on expensive Tesla. EU will be in the same shoe???

Double and expand Canadian tariffs until we have no more trade deficit with Canada or no more trade. It is better to end trade with any country than to continue with massive deficits and unfair trade.

As an American I believe ALL Canadians should boycott US products and spending in the USA. This is not how the USA should treat its allies and friends. Now Canada will never trust the US and things will escalate. To all those commenters that say the USA has the upper hand and will win this battle, yeah maybe so but that's not how you treat allies and in the end the common man on both sides of the border will suffer. how dead do your brain cells have to be to think that doing something like this will immediately solve the problem. If there wasn't a demand there wouldnt be anyone trying to fill the demand. Purdue Pharma also helped create the demand by pushing highly addictive opioid drugs and lying about it to people. Those people they hooked didn't suddenly disappear. It created a chain that we are still seeing today. They would rather put a bandage on the bleeding wound than cough up the money and the actual will to start solving the crisis that is driving people into drugs. Like lack of affordable housing, once people lose that safety and are on the street drugs end up providing a relief from their situation. Lack of any meaningful mental health care, or any health care at all. There are underlying things that aren't getting solved, people will always find new ways to find or make drugs whether those drugs come from other countries or just created inside the US.

Raising tariffs are effectively the same as raising taxes, which is something that Americans have been crying to do for years. Whether you are raising taxes on the rich or levying tariffs, at the end of the day, the cost will be passed down to the consumer. From the perspective of a producer, is there really a difference between a tariff and a tax?

In the end US consumer are the one hit hard with price increase all this because of their president insist to implement high tariffs.

Trump should really look hard into the last time the US went to war with CANADA it really didn't end well for US. We are really only nice when treated with respect as we treat others.
