Someone can have my spot; I'm leaving. Earned more money in both China and US than in Canada, plus cost of living was a tiny fraction in China vs Canada. Could eat out every day, never cooked, comfortably traveled abroad once a month, saved more than 50% my net income each month. In Canada can't even cover basics with my Canadian income, have to tap into savings I earned abroad for basic monthly expenses. I don't know what kind of life and jobs and living conditions these people who like Canada had before coming but for me this is a gigantic downgrade in quality of life and purchasing power.

My daughter is nearing the end of 2 great years in Canada on an IEC (backpacker) visa from Australia. She’s loved the people, the landscape (mostly lived in BC and Alberta) , and working there…. She picked up interesting jobs, worked very hard, just about made ends meet, has been great. \n\nShe was even offered a permanent job by a major Canadian co last year (she was working for them on a one year role at the time) that would’ve paved the way for her to apply for PR…but she turned it down without a second thought….. for all the reasons you would know about \n\n- Wages aren’t great (maybe 20% less than australia), \n\n- taxes are high (incl having to pay CPP…in australia the employer pays all pension contributions, on top of wages), \n\n- groceries prices out of kilter, \n\n- rents consume most of what’s left…. \n\n- AND, even if you could save a deposit for a house, or shoebox apartment….what’s the point, could never afford it. \n\nShe’s seen nearly all her Canadian friends resigned to their fate of being perennial renters, of being perpetually skint. It’s no life. She’s sad to see it - coming from a country of perpetual optimism and opportunity, to learn over time how such a (on many levels) similar country isn’t like that, that has somehow got it all so wrong. \n\nIf you are thinking of “australia” as your answer, it’d be a fair call\n\n- Avoid Sydney if you can (a less expensive Vancouver) but rest of the place is “workable”. \n\n- Average wage in Perth is $100k (C$90k) and average house (full size…not an apt or townhouse) price is about $700k (C$630k) …so do-able, if tight to start with, for youngsters (like you..!) \n\n- I’ve been to Vancouver’s East Hastings St, and so can confirm is nowhere close to that in Oz. Are sketchy parts of all cities, but it’s definitely not community wide\n\n- are small pockets of homelessness (esp but not only indigenous community) but the governments are mostly (sort of…) “on it” \n\n- sun, sea, sand… and the sharks rarely come close to shore!

This is me a decade ago moving from Phils to Canada. I never felt at home in the country of my birth — I hated the traffic and the monsoon rains (it can rain for months). I know a lot of nationalities rave about our tropical country & beautiful beaches but it also has become unaffordable for us the citizens. We became Canadians 5 yrs ago & have grown from 4 to 6 (2 Canada born kids) & now have 2 properties. It has worked for us but it was also not easy uprooting our lives & starting over. I don’t think we will ever find our home anywhere. Previously my husband and I also lived in the US (before kids). It is truly a privilege to be here but I always feel I am sojourner, always traveling & always searching. I hope you find your peace wherever life takes you. I think everybody around are super rich. I can never go only work, each day is a possible laid off whatsoerver my effort and education. People in the parlement have a wage over 100k per year to be on a seat, time is money, but they can't focus on their results. They don't need to have results on their decision. They know tomorrow, they will do a second chance and spend time make money.

This is never heard of. When I came to Canada as an international student in 2009, most of my classmates either stay, work and pay taxes, or they go back to their original countries. What has this government done?!

I was born here 55 years ago, I am mixed race and have been asked if I was Indian. I think that my time growing up in Canada is that Indians have had the most racism towards them. However, There are too many coming here right now. 99% of the Indians I have met with are nice and great people. With that , the shear amount of Indians that are not desirable are here. Cannot drive, rude, no understanding of customer service and take over public spaces and are litter bugs. You guys have to help transition into the western american canadian tradition. I have seen influxes of other countries come over here in my 55 years but I have never seen one group come over with these huge numbers. It is a massive displacement

The quality of medical care is comparable between the 2 countries, however Americans still have a shorter life expectancy (compared to all other developed nations, not just Canada) because co-pays, deductibles, and insurance premiums keep people from getting earlier diagnosis’ that would save their lives. \n\nI find that Americans see Canadian healthcare through an American lens, thinking that we can only go to certain doctors, cannot get second opinions, or that the medical industry isn’t competitive but none of that is true. Our healthcare allows us to go to go anywhere and to get second opinions if needed. We pay zero out of pocket and never see a bill.

I moved here from Wales 5 years ago. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many country’s around the world and I’ve honestly never seen anything like Canada. Most days don’t even meet Canadians. My boss is Indian, my land lord is Indian. I went to service Canada to update my driving licence and there was about 150 young indain students queuing up around the mall. When I’m lucky enough to strike up a conversation with a Canadian (born here) they seem beaten down and can’t believe the change in last 10 years…. Heartbreaking

This is very telling and confims what we already knew. Many students are NOT here to study. Most are not. The student visas, which the liberals hand out like candy on Halloween, are simply an easily abused way of getting residency. And the liberals fell for it all hook line and sinker, letting in millions of students who will never leave, and who will then bring in their families as part of the liberal unification. This was their plan all along. Let's face it, Canada does not have an enviable education system. Why would an Indian student pay all that money to come to Canada to go to school, when they can easily get the same education for almost nothing in india? Back door immigration tactics. My kid just started college. His classes were of course stuffed full of international students on the first day or two. Now they don't come at all. They didn't come to Canada to study.

The moment you share where you are going and why it is so great, expect more immigrants to follow you from all over the world that will, overtime, change the culture and fabric of the society of your new home and potentially degrade the reasons why you initially wanted to move there. India has a population of 1.5 BILLION, Pakistan 250 MILLION, Africa is at 1.2 BILLION... they want to get out of their impoverished countries badly and bring their culture to a new country. They're all watching.\n\nI moved from Canada as well in the past, and am set to move again from the country I am in as this country now has also become overrun with immigration and has lost the magic of why I moved here. I can tell you one of the major reasons. It is the fact that these immigrants from India do not want to assimilate into Canada. Instead they bring their ways with them into Canada and some of those “ways”, are not acceptable in Canada. One example of that is the whole using the bathroom on the beach. But one that hits hard for me is the insane amount of immigrants that are harvesting spawning salmon with nets, without any of the properly paperwork that is needed to fish salmon with a rod. Using a net is illegal, I know they know it because when I catch them doing this. They become quiet and all of a sudden, after hearing them just speaking English, they pretend they do not know English… I can tell you this is all true. The other thing I have seen with my eyes is shop lifting from the local grocery store. I have never seen that before, not ever in all my years living here. It would be somewhat different if they were stealing essential items and essential foods. But they are not doing that, they are stealing all the luxury items. I am a white Canadian and I am proud of it, but guess what. I am also proud of the fact that I have a doctor that came from India and his family is thriving here. It makes me proud that he chose our country try to come to, with his educational background, it also makes me proud that he and his family have taken the time to try and assimilate into our culture. When I say assimilate by the way, I do not want them or and immigrant to completely abandon their cultures, I just would prefer it if they assimilate to the point where we can have a healthy community instead of all these separate cultural areas in our towns and cities. The other thing I have to add is that the word racism is thrown around too much and too easily in our current woke cultural climate here in Canada and this is just making the immigration issues worse because it produces a culture of fear for those Canadians that would like to help educate those immigrants that need help. But they do not do so because they are afraid of being labeled a racist or some other word and having their livelihoods and overall lives ruined. I am in a position in life where I do not care if people want to say such things about me. I am also well educated and in the position to come up with well articulated arguments in my defence. My main issue with immigration that bothers me more than the rest not only affects us Canadians but also affects the immigrants as well. Ok so before mass immigration was a thing here in Canada our healthcare system that we all used to be extremely proud of the as showing too many cracks and we knew it was falling apart. You think the government would place more funding into the healthcare system. Well that has not happened and if anything they have taken more funds away from our healthcare system than any other time in our country’s history. So before the mass immigration begun we had a major issue with having way too many patients and not enough medical staff to adequately treat everyone in a timely and healthy manner. So now think about that, the healthcare system was already stressed with the current population before mass immigration. How do you think adding waves and waves of more people every year via mass immigration is affecting that system? The answer is this… if the system was stressed beforehand, it is collapsing now. I am one of the lucky few that has a family doctor right now. It takes three months the just for me to see her… If I have an emergency and have to call 911, the ambulance will take me up to the local ER and then I will be wheeled out to the waiting room, which defeats the purpose of me calling 911 for a ambulance. I have waited two days at the local ER just to see a doctor. So here is where it affects the immigrants coming in. If a Canadian that was here before you is already having major issues with the healthcare, then I can only imagine how hard it will be for a new citizen to our country, nuff said really… the local er near me had a person die in the waiting room this past January. Add to this fact that I am actually pretty sick at the moment and so are my parents and you can understand why I am upset about our failing healthcare system. The politicians do not have to worry about our such issues though because they can afford to pay to go outside of Canada and pay cold hard cash for medical treatment. That is why they do not mind removing funds from our healthcare system, it will not affect them and they get to line their pockets with more of our tax money… I honestly place most of the blame for what is going on right now on Trudeau’s government and not the immigrants. The immigrants could help make this crappy situation a lot better for both of our parties though if they tried a little harder to adapt to our ways of life here. When in Canada try to live like a Canadian, I do not think that is asking much. Again, as for racism, I believe in judging a person by their actions and not by the colour of their skin. Racism is such an antiquated way of thinking… Our skin colours maybe different, just like our cultural backgrounds, but after all is said and done we are all members of the human race. Capitalism does not work. The constant crisis and boom/bust cycles will lead to its demise, eventually. Canada isn't alone, in fact inflation and other problems have been worse in peer western nations. The only nations that seem to be doing better with 'economic growth' are places like China or other societies that place value in public services. Best of luck on your journey. I immigrated to Canada about 10 years ago, and I've done better than the US where I came from. It still is the case, as I go back to visit family in the US regularly and the job prospects are grim, the pensions are even less secure, and union membership is even starker than here. Precarious work is the norm in western nations, and its often worse than in Canada. As a dual citizen, I could choose to get up and move tomorrow, but I'll never return to the US as there is worse places to live than Canada... But I did have a long journey to find stable employment, so I realize Canada isn't perfect. Have you thought about ending work as a content creator on YouTube and doing something that might be more productive or fulfilling? It might be a start to a better future. It may even be better than moving to a different country that would have the same or worse problems.

I was born in Vancouver, lived in Canada all my life, never had a good paying job but worked hard just to get a little over $500/month in CPP.. I'm a senior now and I can't afford to live in Canada. I've been travelling since I retired in 2023 and mostly housesitting internationally so that keeps my housing costs down which is a big part of living expenses.

My life is good enough but I'm older than you and was able to buy a house, etc... My kids on the other hand.... I worry for them. Both of them just got their EU citizenship, but I'm not sure if Europe is any better (I don't know yet). I'm anxious to see where you end up. \n\nSidenote, my mother's side is Ukrainian and settled in east rural Saskatchewan in the early 1900s. Ukrainians are the most hospitable and wonderful people, and growing up, when I would go visit them, it was almost as if I was in Ukraine, not Canada. The language, the food, etc... it was wild and I never appreciated it for what it was until I was much older.

Canada's TFW scheme is just nutso, and that's coming from an Australian who is living with many of the same pressures as Canada in 2024. You have roughly 40 million people - about 12 million more than Australia - and some genius decided that importing 3 million people from the subcontinent was a GOOD idea ? Like Australia, the majority of your population is clustered in a small number of cities - new arrivals are going to head straight for the path of least resistance. No shame in that (I lived in a notorious 'ghetto' dominated by foreigners in Thailand) but it was never going to be well received by the locals. Toronto and Vancouver, anyone ? These are indians from villages brining village indian culture. They shit on train tracks every morning. They never seen toilet before coming to canada. They have program in village. Bus comes fills up villagers, takes them to airport. Plane lands in canada. Bus comes and takes them to brampton. They have not seen anything in the world besides thier village and brampton. You want work in Canada go to rural areas and get into logging.\n You will be about a 6 hour drive from Toronto. \n But you'll find work and houses prices affordably.\n Wait no that was 25 years ago when i was 15 i worked at a mill that's now closed. I made $7.25/hour then man beside me had been there for 40 years or so amd was making $9/hour.\n Canadians have never been rich only hard working exploited and since demanding better pay as the boss drives exotic imported cars but we can't even eat or have a vehicle the mill closes and everybody has no work.

There's never been a labour shortage in Canada. Ever. We've always had a fairly high unemployment rate since I was born (1976). We just have a shortage of ethics in capitalism.

I see a lota comments saying this is one-sided. I cant speak for anyone else but this has been my experience as well... I've been to the Indian Embassy in Wellington, Nz multiple times to submit my applications passport renewal, police clearance etc and girls at the counter were unnecessarily rude & very unhelpful.. I've never received this sort of treatment from kiwis in Nz especially those sitting at customer service desks. I'd worked in Customer service for 7+ years and its very sad to see Indians (not all; some are good but very rare) are the worst and rudest to deal with. Because of this Indian generally have a very bad reputation in Nz; and by the looks of it, in Canada & Australia too..
