It’s funny how he shift from the issue of how tariffs affect people in the US to the subject of migrant deportations. When did the readership of cnn get so frikking stupid. The US is the biggest consumer country in the world. Tariffs will only hurt Americans, all of your costs will go up. You pay tariffs, we don’t. For Columbia, your coffee, tropical fruit like bananas, flowers are going up. For Canada, your gas prices, housing costs. Mexico, fruits and vegetables….basically your inflation is going to sky rocket.

So many people don't fundamentally understand how tariffs work. America is one of the largest consumer markets in the world with the strongest impact on the global economic scale. Every country NEEDS their goods sold to the United States and tariffs make them pay more to get there goods here giving us a cash influx. while also dramatically increasing the competitive edge for domestic companies to compete against foreign slave markets.

What if every country the US exports to which is about 3Trillion dollars income in total get 100% tariffs back at the US that would destroy them lol

At one time no South American country would have dared defy a US president and risk invasion and regime change, now they all openly defy Trump with abandon since the rise of BRICS. This is so stupid, if trump’s solution to international affairs is to imposed tariffs on the countries who don’t bend to his will, most countries will be smart and form an alliance to just cut the u.s. out and spread the wealth within that alliance. Trump is going to lose all of our trade partners, and bring us to the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

The Colombian president was claiming that migrants are welcome back as long as they are not treated as criminals since they are not criminals. Entering the US illegally is a civil offense like passing red light but not a criminal offense under US law. So then he said he could send his own plane and make sure that those people are not handcuffed and treated with dignity in their arrival, since Trump was treating them as criminals. It is not like some here are saying that the tariff threat caused him to back off, it was just a point of being treated fairly since they are not criminals.

I’m not a financial expert but it strikes me that placing a tariff on every country of the world (especially major trading partners like china and Canada) will only harm the US and therefore US citizens.

Tariffs means that US business will pay an additional cost to import the product which will then be passed on the US consumer through higher prices. So the only ones who will suffer are American consumers.

So if it carries on like this, Donald Chaos is going to be applying trade tariffs against many of his neighbors for not taking back their migrants that the US needs to keep their domestic economy afloat? So it'll be costing the US at least an equivalent cost increase to continue buying goods from Columbia (and other countries as yet unknown to add to the list) until the US has no sources left to switch to that are un-tariffed and more economic.\nThese countries will just sell their goods elsewhere if the US doesn't buy them, so the American consumer loses out and pays to finance this fiasco in the making = US price inflation. \nSo falling out with your neighbors is how to make America great again is it?\nWhat sort of successful businessman works like this and succeeds?
