I'm a Canadian living in the UK now. I love Canada with every piece of my heart but couldn't see myself ever being anything other than working poor there. I went to college but couldn't get a job in my field so had to take whatever minimum wage I could get, couldn't afford rent let alone buying a property so moved in with my parents and there isn't any support from the government for average citizens, only if you're an immigrant, disabled etc. I'm not against helping immigrants, disabled people or those that need it, just sucks that if you don't fall into certain categories it means you'll always struggle in your minimum wage job.\nLife in the UK isn't perfect but I was able to find a decent job here, the public transit is actually usable, phone plans and other bills/groceries tend to be cheaper and the working conditions are significantly better. Like I get 32 paid days off a year in my average job which is just wild to me! In Canada my sister who is a police officer only gets 15 days off a year and that's a lot compared to other people, like I never use to get any paid time off at my previous jobs. I miss parts of living in Canada but for the time being the UK is making my life a lot easier.

I live in rural Newfoundland. At 23 years old i was able to buy a house for 239k with a 12k down payment. I was only able to do this by saving my money since I started working at 17, although when i started working and saving i never thought that money would go to buying a house. Anyways my point is I was only able to afford this home because i lived with my parents until i bought a house and they were kind enough not to charge me rent, all i had to do was pay for groceries and help out around the house. However paying over 200k for a house in a small community that only has a hardware store grocery store and a gas station with the nearest town that has anything more than that being a 45 minute drive away via highway is insane. I am by far the exception in this generation rather than the rule, and I wish our housing market was better so that people could afford to buy homes without having to luck into such favorable conditions like I did

I'm Canadian, born and raised. I feel disenfranchised and disconnected from my country. With the economic issues mentioned, I also feel like Canada doesn't have a culture or a proper identity. I don't know what being Canadian is, but it feels like it's just watered-down American culture.\n\nI've been slaving away the past few years in hopes of getting out of this place. It could be a huge mistake, and I know it is a huge risk, but I feel like I don't have much here anymore.

I can fully relate and agree with everything you said and more not said. I never thought I would hate being Canadian or my home country but Justin pushed me past the line. And I like and hate both cities at times but realize neither are lovable. \n\nMontreal is grey 80% of the timeand the people are so rude and hurtful. I hate the french just absolutly hate them. Not becasue of the langauge, but how they are so gross in every standard of life. They speak a way that is offensive and rude. They hate all outsiders and want to live in a closed embreed society.\n\nI couldn't imagine how nice this city could be if they would drop the bs discrimination of the nonsense language laws. It is systimatic discrimination. \n\nWinnipeg is green and sunny in summer but winter is very very harsh as Canadian all know. Winnipeg has friendly people, but also some very violant people to the point I get into fights and or breakup fights and had to open carry a knife, and do wing chun. It is just harsh all around. \n\nThen I look into Toronto, and well that is even more expensive then anywhere else. \n\nAs I say I agree with all your points and maybe Portigal or Spain are intersting. Maybe after this was in Ukraine I will go there to make money, and move to a nice affordable place where I can keep working and enjoy the changes it offers me.

while I agree with a lot of this video theres one crucial aspect this video neglects and same with the commenters here.. POPULATION. \n\nCompared to countries like denmark, sweden, japan, france, uk, etc. we have a much bigger country to maintain landmass wise. Infrastructure. USA is similar but they have 10x the population as us. Our population in canada is pathetic. Problem is everyone stays in ontario or BC which is stupid, im in sask I want population. Another thing about infrastructure is our climate. We have such drastic events in our climate across our huge country that takes a toll. Climate problems with our low population is not a good thing. I mean most people outside canada and even within Canada dont believe me but Saskatchewan goes from like -45 to +45C with windchill/humidex. Our forests are on fire often, that is not normal. That costs so much money to fix as well. In summer sometimes, Nunavut or NWT will be warmer then here, we talk about it here when it happens. Think about that. Weather is HUGE in saskatchewan. We talk about weather daily. I never realized until internationals pointed that out that we are obsessed with weather in sask lol. \n\n Our housing market is a joke and I agree we need to invest more in buisnesses but at the same time we need affordable housing, we are in a weird spot. As far as working etc goes people commenting here lol the golden years of the 80s are gone old timers, my parents realize this that you guys were spoiled in one of the greatest time periods in human history - post WWII boom and the effects. I could go on and on how the 70s-90s were one of the best time periods in modern history for various reasons but I wont. There are problems internationally, we live in a globalist world. We still have it good. Go travel and make international friends. This is nothing that we are dealing with at the moment. All I will say though is leave the huge metropolitans like Toronto and Vancouver. Everyone wants to go there because they think 'theres more opportunity' ugh. Theres opportunity across canada but if everyone things like that there will be problems. The idea of Ontario or BC is just a big nope for me (although I go to BC every couple years, love it there I would not want to live there).

This country seemed like a paradise when I was growing up, our family had a doctor, we could get healthcare access quickly, my parents bought a beautiful home for cheap, and my dad started a successful company, while my mom was able to stay home and raise us.\n\nThese days both partners need to relentlessly work to even afford a place where raising a family is extremely difficult, healthcare treatment takes hours of waiting, and costs of basic services are through the roof. In BC we have only 1 government-run car insurance corporation, and they charge me $500 a month for my work vehicle, despite me having a nearly clean record.

If only there were some kind of trained and well armed group of men that could somehow guard the nation. Well, we'll just have to make one. We'll call it the National Guarders or something like that. Maybe sometime down the road we can have the people with boats that are in charge of which drug shipments get to enter the country and which ones don't, for a very nice chunk of change I might add, and that's not counting the skim off the bottom that no one knows about,? anyway those dudes can guard the coasts. Let's do some basic life, right now unless your well educated and already had money from family, you need a job that pays at the very least 15 and hour and work a minimum of 60 hours a week to pay for a house and enough food to eat once or twice a day, don't say fast food, because when I was 12 you could get two burgers a drink and fries for like 3 something, now the same order is 10 to 12 that's down in Mississippi, notch that up the further north you go. Now on to housing, cheapest hotels or apartments that you can actually stay and sleep in without fear of disease from the bed, if your lucky 650 to 800, the average is 925. Houses! Rent to own, cheapest with ok credit, 900 to 1200 a month's for a double wide trailer or one bedroom one bathroom one person house

Man, I really do love everyone who is currently in office for our government at the moment. I just love letting any & everyone into our country, not to mention the cost of groceries & gas is amazing too! I absolutely love paying almost $7.00 just for a gallon of milk. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. I live in El Salvador, but I've been thinking about moving somewhere in North America. The US is cool but, I don't want to run across all of the salvadorans who are already there LOL, I want something new. Also, I'd like to still live in, or at least not very far away, from the Americas. I'm too lazy to go to Europe, and have to learn the language there, sorry, I already speak Spanish and English well enough. Only Japan, or Brazil may change my mind, language wise (my Portuguese is enough so I could get by, and I'm also a Japanese music aficionado).\n\nOn the other hand, I love dressing very flamboyant, and, seeing how Canadians wear in the winter, with those huge sweaters and winter clothing, I wonder if it's the place for me ? (I know, that's a very ridiculous concern), also, I don't know if I'd get used to long winters. I've always said I don't like Salvadoran heat, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to trade that for Canadian winters.

Once again politics swung massively to the right with countries like Italy (once again), Hungary, Austria, Poland and Sweden, voting in right wing governments, France ending in a run off that narrowly defeated the far right, Belgium and Spain looking likely to be heading into heavily right wing governments at the next elections, whilst the US and UK governments both saw their politics swinging far further in that direction, especially the UK right now whilst led by an unelected leader who is demonising people in ways that would make Trump look soft. One of themajor rallying calls: immigration. The way media report on this becomes increasingly demeaning and hateful. During the 1930's much of the European media and even as far as the UK was ramping up the scorn against the ever increasing influx of Jewish immigrants coming from Germany. Even into 1944 there was a vast amount of demonisation of them seeking asylum, despite the knowledge by this point that there were horrific conditions in camps where extermination was becoming ever more apparent. The Nazi German government in 1936 passed laws that enabled them to revoke citizenship and stripped away laws on human rights. It would be great to say that these poor souls who were being demonised in their own country were accepted into nations who could see what was going on and who wanted to help, but that just wasn't the way it went. Media played out as it is now, leading to rejection and a greater number of deaths as a result of this. The way the UK government is currently working, it actually sounds like the maxi government of the mid 30's during the time of the Nürnberg laws. \n \nThe world feels far smaller now with double the amount of people and with things like social media playing a huge role in the lives of many. The ease of access to people around the world has made issues seem to stretch to far more countries now, whereas back then it was a time of empires. I get that there will be many here who support Trump, many who support Biden, there will be Brit's who support Sunak and the rather vicious words of Suella Braverman, whilst others will be more on the side of Starmer (I'm well aware of all the other parties but they don't stand to gain as much). There will be French people backing Macron, whilst others back Le Pen. We could go through each country all the way to the battle between Fujimori and Castillo in Perú, and the stories are much the same, but how will history judge us when people look back to this time? Will it be another occasion where we demonised those trying to escape the horror of the place they had the bad luck to be born in whilst we were luckier? \n\nI know there is hardship everywhere. I'm struggling more than most and I know I can't keep living this way. However, I don't want to be a part of history people look back at and say ‘if only they did something to help prevent this.’. I would rather be a part of history people look back upon and say; ‘that was a boring time period where nothing important happened’. It's already too late for that. Instead I try to remember that, though I was born into a family who never really wanted me, I was lucky enough to be born into a country that could support me during the hardest times. When you look at immigrants, remember that every one of us has immigrants in our family tree somewhere.

We all look for easy ways out, less work, more money, more freedom. None of us could blame them cuz we are all one day came here. We are so fortunate to be here. It’s like, you can’t pick your parents. But if we give all of our bread away, there would be nothing left for us.

On the libs side You would have homeless ppl every, no cops, no locked doors since they want open boarders, the government controlling your every move, guys in girls bathroom(creeps included), 70-90% taxes, segregation since they think ppl of color should have their own spaces. Only criminals with guns and since no police that would be tough. \n\nAnd the conservative side would be like America only more freedom, barely any tax if any, guns everywhere so you can protect yourself, closed boarder but do it legal way more than welcome. And little things like higher speed limits, cheap gas. And FREEDOM as long as you aren’t hurting anyone else. \n\nI mean how can the left really not see their side sucks… democrats want to control you, republicans want you to have freedom…how is this confusing lol

That is in need for a new home. The people in these camps doesn't even have the means to travel anywhere to find peace.\n\nThe people knocking on our borders are not the people that are in most need.

This is BS ! I have NEVER EVER had to wait a full YEAR to see a doctor. Period . I live in Toronto. I write this in late March 2023. In the USA....you are on YOUR OWN when it comes to things like social issues and healthcare. Your so-called private insurance plans do not ALWAYS cover what YOU THINK they cover regarding healthcare. You could not pay me enough to ever move to the US from Toronto. My parents had MULTIPLE heart-related medical procedures in Ottawa that would have BANKRUPTED them if they were Americans. You are taken care of IMMEDIATELY if your life is in danger when it comes to healthcare. Americans never mention this. This actually happened to my 41-year old daughter. STOP listening to the DRAMATIC LIES among the comments below. Get real. Then there is the HUGE chance of being shot , say , in a school or a church or even a WALMART in the good ol'US of A. Even Christian elementary schools are not safe. I kiss the CANADIAN ground here in Toronto.

They’re not asylum seekers, they are asylum breakers. If asylum is what they seek, send them to the insane asylums. You gotta be crazy for wanting to voluntarily move into Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York or Chicago. You know, the worse places in the USA to live. Why not set up a program financed by their home country and ours to get them physically and financially healthy to work or start businesses in their home country? Physically, because they are coming here with all kinds of old world curable diseases, due to being born into an inadequate healthcare system. Not really their fault. The cost of living is so low for them that they could afford a future of prosperity or middle class lifestyle in their country of origin. Force their governments to change economically to sustain themselves for their interests. Imposing themselves upon a nation no longer prospering as it did during and after the Industrial Revolution is senseless. There is hardly any upward mobility in blue collar jobs, ever more so in the labor market. If they are not making $40K/year (assuming the majority has not a college degree in something marketable, advanced skills, a tradesman or artisan) then they’re struggling like everyone else in the service industry. Jobs for teenagers, entry level workers, part time jobseekers like for students, people needing extra income cause it’s so expensive in CA, NY, Austin, TX, Chicago or SF living off work entry-level service jobs. Technology has created a shortage or labor gap between unskilled jobs. Jobs that Americans need while pursuing training or technical degrees for the new skilled jobs. \n\nImmigrants do not need to fit the stereotypes of working in the service industry or as farm workers. American citizens can fill these labor positions quite easily. No, immigrants, work visa or not, do not work any harder, smarter, slower or faster than anyone else wanting to work. If someone is motivated to work an unskilled labor job then they will be just as effective as the next person. The HR for these companies definitely virtue signal and satisfy diversity quotas every time they hire someone due to their work status or ethnicity. Everyone and anyone can be replaced and so the question is, who do you, as an employer, want to replace the job vacancy with? Gonna hire cause they are a good fit or because your helping some politicians cause? Gonna grant asylum cause their lives are in danger from a government firing squad or because Biden/Harris will pat you on the back? \n\nThere is reason to illegally enter this country and it is disrespectful, disgraceful, dishonorable, dishonest and disheartening to the ones who are here legally by going through the process like everyone else paying time and money. Even Christopher Columbus paid to be here, no one handed him a free ticket to ‘paradise.’ The Mayflower patrons weren’t met with resistance by the indigenous community, they were harmonious. If there was a border in Maryland at Plymouth Rock, I am sure the Puritans would stop there first to get their passports stamped. I mean hell, these ‘asylum seekers’ don’t have the courtesy to get passports, why not? Passports are not that expensive considering what they pay coyotes. It makes no sense and is suspect. Why isn't our military lined up, completely armed and ready to shoot in situations like this? Plus less people could sneak in if we were lined up. If it was up to me, I would do a trade. I would swap 1 Guatemalan for 1 of them liberal extremists. The ones that say they hate the U.S. and how we need to pay for all of their colleges. Also, The one's that think you should be arrested and doxxed for hurting their feelings b.c maybe you grew up taught if you saw a female you called her a her and only females can give birth. \nI would take them, people b.c they would work hard, love the opportunity given to them here, and be thankful to be given starting amount of money& benefits enough to kick start a new life. and when they could pay it back they would actually pay it back. I do think some immigrants are Bad actors. Like cartels that exploit, leverage and steal from other immigrants who pay them thousands of dollars to help them cross the border. Then they might track them down and, bribe, threaten or force them to take drugs or money back and forth across. \nThe border is a multifaceted complex issue, it's certainly rung and leveraged by our politicians to extend their political agenda.

It could be worse. We could be like Russia where everyone is trying to leave and NOBODY wants to enter.
