How many part-time jobs do they expect these people to work to pay for rent? Finding a full-time job is almost impossible. Coming to Canada exspecting the country to look after them? The companies take hours away from their employees and create another part-time position, then gets a bonus from the government as part of the new employee wages are paid. Same hours for the company but paying less wages and keeping the profits. Who is does this benefit? Not the workers that then need another part-time job to feed their kids. This is disheartening... this means that my husband will never be able to live with us. My children will grow up without their father, and for some reason, Canadians are OK with Canadian children growing up in a broken home. It's going to take 35 months, for my husband to be able to immigrate to this country. That's 2 1/2 year that my kids won't have a dad, our son especially is suffering. He has a serious disease, is often hospitalized, and I'm a married woman living as a single mother. Now I'll need to rely on the government for more financial support, and my 6 year old is actually depressed because his dad is years away from being with him. I work full time, have a great home, and a side business. But now I'll need to depend on meds and disability support to take care of my child, when he has an ablebodied father that can support us, especially when our child is in one of his regular hospitalization. You all are cruel.

I know I shouldn't say this but every time I go to Calgary NE Costco, I feel like I was in another country. Many of them would randomly stop in a middle of moving traffic or cut into my path regardless of my existence... I feel I need to constantly dodge in order to avoid collisions. I am an immigrant too but I always observe my surroundings and try not to cause others to slow down because of me. If I need to take a break or stop, I park my cart in a non-busy spot... these should be common sense which is what the people are severely lacking in my opinion.

The process is not the same as it was in the 80s when they did not require renewal every couple yrs w high $ and rules to return to home country for a set amount of time risking losing your home/job/business etc. Some renewal process for green cards have sped up but still takes 6-1yr and a new green card renewal and new one for Mexico can take 1-3yrs for approval. So someone that’s been here +20yrs will have to leave everything they have built here to go wait quite a long time. Its not if you agree how they got here, its what they have done in our country since being here. However the last category comes mainly from one province in India who has political clout in Canada, so it is the hardest to curb. Parents come to Canada to provide free babysitting and cooking services to grandchildren . If they feel lonely it’s because they are not here to make friends but to stay at home . I one case , a grandparent fell ill in Canada and was sent back to India because of inadequate health insurance to take care of himself there on his own while the grandmother was not allowed to go and continued to babysit . These grandparents often are subjected to huge indignities. Lot of comments on how India is so good and Canada so bad . That is so ridiculous. I do not see people immigrating from Canada to India . We are a German-American family who moved to Germany from Prague 12 years ago. When we arrived we had zero assets, now we are financially independent and secure for life. My wife is American and finds Germany far superior to the US with regards to safety (gun-control), public transport quality, health-care, paid vacations and social services. I am surprised by the comments here, as I find real estate really cheap in Germany compared to other Western countries and it's a great place to buy real estate to rent out and get the tax advantages. Sure, income tax is high in Germany, but as a family you also get a lot in return for it and there are massive benefits for disabled people and children (Kindergeld), while education is also free and health-care is universal as well. Everybody wanting to move elsewhere has to consider whereever they go they will be taking themselves - and if complaining is a passion, you will be doing that everywhere you go.

You say that not worrying about health care since it comes from your employer or you can buy your own. I hear horror stories of people taking an Ambulance to a hospital for it to be out of network. Even if they planned on going to a Hospital in network the doctor was out of network. There are even times insurance companies that refuse to pay out and try to find any reason possible requiring legal action.

I am a born and raised Canadian and have seen my country go downhill for at least the last couple of decades.\nHealth Care: doctors and nurses are moving Stateside in droves. No, the US doesn’t have universal health care but there are insurance plans and the care is enormously better. My girlfriend had 4th stage throat cancer. In Calgary the doctors at some point told her there was nothing more they could do for her and to get her affairs in order. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. This is no longer the case.\nEverything is very expensive and the tax very high. Plus, we have to suffer winter! Where I live, the joke is that we have two seasons - July and winter!\nI still like my city (not love) but I am retired and own two houses - one inherited and the other bought when it was affordable (32 years ago). Calgary would not be a place I would live if I was a newcomer. Vancouver is beautiful but you really pay for it. \nTrudeau has helped make a big mess of things with immigration and lax criminal laws. Our health care system has major problems in canada but i had to pay 0$ to have my child...i pay 0$ to see a doctor...i paid 0$ when i went to the hospital for massive abdomen pain...i paid 0$ to get stitches and a cast and paid 0$ to have them taken out...i didnt have to go through a 3rd party insurance where they might only cover a portion or find ways to not pay...ill take my healthcare over american any day unless im extremely rich
